Hmmm. I wouldn't know about it since I haven't played it yet, but at least now I'll play it half expecting massive disappointment.
Of course I'll most likely walk out saying it was a pretty decent game. It's pretty hard for me to play a game that I generally hate. I guess in some people's cases, I'm not hardcore enough.

It's the same old FPS. Everyone said, "OH, EVERYTHING WILL BE SO NEW." It's not. Nothing is new. I've seen it all. The multiplayer isn't that great either. Hardly anyone is actually good at it. It does not entertain me in the least. I've seen much more innovative games. It's just the newest fad that makes non gamers think they are gamers because they are "good" at it.

Hardly anyone is actually good at it. It does not entertain me in the least. I've seen much more innovative games. Hope you don't mind me asking, but could you name some of these innovative games?
Could help spur more discussion on this topic, whether it be people ridiculing your list, agreeing with your list, or generally not giving a s**t.

One of my favorite of innovative games is:
Shattered Horizon.
Now, it may be buggy, but it brought a new world to FPS games when the fight was brought to space. It brought the phrase: "There is no up in space."
Another game was Just Cause/Just Cause 2.
It wasn't innovative where it was a sandbox shooter, but what you do made it innovative. Jumping onto cars and performing stunts, grappling your way up mountains, the skydiving physics engine. These are some of few.
With Call of Duty: Black Ops, it simply combines creations from other games such as Crysis, Ghost Recon, and if you can tell me a creation that wasn't already made in a previous game, then congratulations. I might like it a bit more.
My main points is; Don't hype up some game that doesn't bring anything new to the playing field.

just cause is not an fps which you were talking about being innovative, also there is new stuff such as having a flamethrower attachment, different weapons in the gun sections, dualwielding shotguns, the ballistic knives and crossbow are new as well, this game can't even compare to be as great as crysis though, cod black ops is more a combination of battlefield, medal of honor, and counter strike source

Did you buy the game? Why or why not?
Did you like Modern Warfare 2? If so, what makes that one so much better? If not, then why buy black ops?
The game sold 5.2 million copies.
Coming from playing Halo this game is so refreshing. I can't stand Halo games anymore. It's pretty much the same game over and over.
Now, leaving out all other series, the flamethrower (example) seems pretty cool. I didn't play Killing Floor, Crysis, Ghost Recon, Just Cause as I'm sure a huge majority haven't either. So I'm not going to be able to pick up on any similarities.
Most people also aren't elitists. "This game has to be perfect." No. People get bored of their games and want something new. Fun and easy to play. It kills time.
I really don't understand what it is about this game that people feel the need to express their hatred towards it. Especially if they didn't buy it. Then don't play it. Simple.
I don't like playing World of Warcraft. I don't play it.
I haven't played Mass Effect. Ehh.. It's just not my kind of game. I understand that it's good.
I haven't seen that Clockwork Orange movie. Why? Because everybody and their mother says it's the greatest ever. If I watch it I'll be picking it apart and I would rather not waste my time going into something knowing that I'm not going to enjoy going in.
Just to state. I really only play 2 or 3 matches and I'm done for the day. It's a small break that I take from doing other work. Maybe that's what other people do too.

I just thought of something. I play this game with a lot of friends. That's a huge part of why I enjoy this game. F-ing around and crackin jokes.
Also, those Wager matches are ridiculously intense... for me.

Actually, I did buy it. I bought it because I was disappointed with Modern Warfare 2 and hoped that Black Ops would be better. Now, I might like the games better if they weren't so hyped up and people didn't rate them so high when it has so many faults.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that a gamer was literally someone who...you know actually plays games. Then we go all in-depth with the classification and s**t.
