Rocket Agent Seth

PostPosted: Sun Nov 14, 2010 2:51 pm

This had proven to be a rather interesting morning. His hair was still damp from that blasted Kingdra. After having taken a towel to it, it had caused his usually neat chestnut locks to become slightly spiked as they dried. However, he didn't really care all that much, his mind was elsewhere from his current looks.

Having retreated to his private office instead of the tech floor, Seth tried to keep himself preoccupied. With feet on his desk, the elite was trying to stay relaxed. The main portion of the rifle he'd been working on, was propped up against the end of said desk. While in his hands he was installing the energy clip he received into a portion of the gun that had been removed.

However, eventually he grunted in irritation and sat up, putting it aside to rub his hands over his face. Distracted thoughts were getting the best of him, despite his efforts to put them in the back of his mind. Drumming his fingers against his desk, the man eventually turned his chair around and stood up. He proceeded to pace across the office floor for a few moments, and eventually stopped in front of the window. Pulling up the blinds, he let the morning light fill the space as he gazed out over the expanse of the desert.

One thing could be said for a six-story building in the desert - it had a great view. The rippled dunes still held a bit of sunrise's rosy tinge, and indistinct dark shapes of Pokemon moved about, squeezing out a few last moments of foraging before they would retreat to cool burrows and shade. Near the horizon the sands paled, blending into the wispy bits of cloud teased across the sky.

Seth's Rocket Dex buzzed, interrupting the tense silence.

It indeed was a spectacular view, and it had a calming affect on the tense elite.

That is until his Rocket Dex alerted him to an incoming call. Picking it up, he clicked the transmitter button and spoke into it. "Yes?" he asked calmly, his blue eyes still fixed on the horizon.

"Morning sir." While respectful, Hayes sounded frazzled in the way that only an all-nighter driven by Mountain Dew and coffee can provide. "Server upgrade's done, so-"

The feeling of quiet calm was gone and was quickly replaced with aggitation. Hayes was NOT the person he wanted to speak to at the moment.

Hayes was rudely interrupted with a roar. "Why the hell are you calling me about this?! Stop wasting time and get back to work! I have no time for this!" Seth then punched the 'call end' button.

Why was good help so hard to find?

Hayes jerked the Rocket Dex away from his ear. He was definitely awake now.

"Hey," one of his techs spoke up in the midst of a mouthful of post-programming Cheetos, "didn't he want to know when we finished..?"

"Yeah. ..guess something came up." The blond clipped the device back on his belt and shrugged with a little 'what can you do' smile. "Let's run it."

---

Right about the time Seth exploded with ire, there was a knock at the door.

What unfortunate timing.

"WHAT?!" Came the reply from Seth's side of the door.

It was a female voice, low and murmury. "Well. If now's not a good time."

There was a pause as Seth processed the voice that came, and he cursed under his breath for his stupidity.

A few moments later the door would open. "I thought you were someone else." He stated honestly, blue eyes looking down at Nadja before he swung the door open, allowing her entrance.

There was also a chair waiting for her this time.

The door swung open on an expression that was.. complicated, for a fraction of a second, before it smoothed over.

"H'n." The little acknowledgment came with a composed, faintly amused smile. Nadja moved past Seth into his office, taking note of little details here and there - the window, the.. firearm - a brow twitched upward at that - and the chair, although she made no move towards it.

As the door clicked shut, she reached into his hair and pulled him down into a kiss.

Her expression left him uncertain as she walked past him, yet he caught a bit of the amused smile. Seth stood there and tried not to fidget like a nervous child, waiting to hear what she would say. What was she thinking?

Instead he shut the door quietly, and didn't have to wonder long. For as he turned back around, she reached for him. Her slender fingers working into his hair as she pulled him down to her level. His lips gladly meeting hers as relief flooded his previously anxious mind. Long arms encircling her waist tightly.

It was a slow kiss, long and leisurely, almost audible in the silence while seconds ticked by. When the pause for breath came Nadja drew back to look at Seth's expression, her fingers still in his hair. Her clear gray eyes were creased at the corners, studying him, her lips slightly smiling.

"Thank you," she murmured, and waited.

When she drew back, he was left almost breathless, and a part of him yearned for more. Seth saw her smile, and his own expression was a soft one. Not quite a smile... but... almost. Lids drooped slightly over blue eyes that were shrouded in a pleasant haze.

"Hm," he started, low baritone rumbling in his throat. A pleased sound. "You're welcome."

Apparently she had found his gifts, and judging from the kiss, approved of them.

That expression was.. new, and something in it brought a measure of clarity to Nadja's eyes, kept her from another kiss. Her lips parted slightly, her expression.. quiet, layered again with complexity that trapped something in its weave.

The shape of her hand was left in his still-damp hair as it slid down, briefly cupping his ear before it came to rest against the side of his face. Her thumb stroked his cheekbone slowly, close to the lashes.

After a moment like this she leaned in - careful, gentle to the point of hesitance, as if exploring some fragile unknown territory.
