Everything Smelled so earthy and crisp. She cantered around in the clearing kicking her hind hooves up and bucking. She felt like having some fun of some sort regardless of how stiff and unforgiving the frosted cold ground was. Her front legs ever so slightly still showed the scars of an accident she had as a foal while playing in a brook and chasing her father. She'd cried that day but the tears hadn't lasted for long. She seemed to bounce back from most things easily. Her father's daughter, she had grown to be more and more like him as she grew.
She reflected on her time in this clearing as a foal chasing her sister or her dad. Good memories to keep one warm on a chilly day. The cantering stopped as her stomach protested to her the fact that She hadn't eaten and it was empty. Dry grass was all around her but as tasteless as it was it was better than an empty stomach. Lowering her head, she took a mouthful of grass and chewed slowly.

The frost seemed unwelcoming to most, but she quite enjoyed it. She loved how it glistened under the sun. True, the grass was a little more lush in the forest at this point in time, but because of past experiences that occurred there, she stopped herself from entering for some time. Several scars graced her body as evidence of the encounters. Though she was still a bit scared, she didn't let it truly affect how she lived.
So, venturing out into the clearing, she took in a deep breath of the crisp, cool air before exhaling a puff of steam. Her mind never stayed on one thought for long as her legs carried her deeper through the brittle grass. As she continued on, she was sure she saw something in the distance. The uni mare paused for a brief moment, eying what it was she spotted. It seemed to be another soquili by what she could tell. With a small nicker, she continued onward.

She lifted her head sure she'd heard a nicker from some where. Grass stuck out from her mouth as she stopped chewing long enough to looks around slowly. Her ears flicked about, nostrils flaring so she could hopefully catch the scent of what was around. Soon she found the source of the nicker. A Uni mare in the distance. Finishing her mouthful, she smiled and nickered in return, making her way slowly towards the other. the scarves that adorned her gently flapping as she moved. "Hello, Nice morning isn't it?"

Kihaku's ears perked lightly when she heard the other nicker in return. Seeing the mare make her way to her, she smiled softly. Getting a short distance from the other, she stopped and bowed her gently. "Hello. Nice day indeed. I hope you are doing well this fine day." She replied with a soft flick of her braided tail, quite exhilarated to have run into someone, especially on a cold day like this.

"I'm doing well, thank you. How about yourself?" Her ears, tho perked, swiveled about as continued to listen to things around them. She was keeping watch like she'd been taught by her father to do. "My name's Merashik by the way. But you can call me Mera if you like." She was becoming excited about meeting some one new which was slowly starting to become apparent with how her speech was beginning to speed up. "What brings you out here this morning?" Dry mud caked her leg guards and up to just below her scars. Mud was one of her favorite things and mud puddles were even better.

"I am glad to hear that you are well, you are very welcome." She replied with a warm smile, "I am doing fine myself. Thank you for aksing." Kihaku, though her attention was mainly on the mare before her, was also being war of their surroundings, a habit more self-taught than just taught. When the mare introduced herself, the part Uni bowed her head gently, "It is nice to meet you Mera! My name is Kihaku, though I am usualy referred to as Haku. Heavens knows why, considering that Haku is a boy's name... but I digress." She stated with a soft giggle and a brief sticking out of her tongue. She had noticed the mud gracing the others legs but didn't mind it. She was into rough stuff herself and wasn't a 'girly' mare, but she just couldn't stand mud or being dirty for too long for some unknown reason. "Oh... I'm just out to have new experiences, even if it means visiting the same places."

"I see, Sounds rather fun." She tapped her hoof on the ground to get some of the mud off her. "It's a pleasure meeting you Haku, I guess you could say i'm more my father's daughter." She grinned wide at the other mare. "I've never really acted very girly myself. Always was the first to rough and tumble with my father as a little filly." She chuckled some shaking her head. "It was always so much more fun though not to be as pristine and... girly as others expected.."

"Yes, it is quite fun." She replied with a small nod, tail giving a light idle flick. At her comment about being her father's daughter, she giggled lightly, "though I'm not a lot like my father, there is nothing wrong with it." She replied, watching her tap some of the mud from her legs. She tossed some of her mane from her eyes, "I'm not really 'girly' either, I can 'square off' with the stallions as well... it's just, I don't know... I don't like the feeling of mud on my fur." She explained with a small smile.

She could understand that, not everyone enjoyed the feel of mud like she did. It wasn't a bad thing in her eyes, after all not everyone liked to eat the same foods. It was just another preference where others differed. "Understandable I don't recall my sister ever liking mud much either." She chuckled some and had a passing thought of what her sister could be up to now, she hadn't seen her since they'd been foals.

Kihaku giggled at that. "I always found it amusing how two from the same family and same blood can like and dislike different things." She replied, her tail flicking softly. She wished she could say what her little sister liked or did not like, but she was afraid that she didn't know much about her. The two were separated as foals when her father and mother had went their own ways after separating on good terms. She hoped to find her sister one day though and nickered softly at the thought.

"Do you have any siblings?" She perked her ears at the question. "It's ok if you don't want to talk about it or you just don't know... I'm just curious." She gave the other mare a small smile. She knew some times others just weren't comfortable talking about family with others. It didn't make her rude if she didn't want to answer.

"Oh no, it's quite alright." She replied. She had actually grown warmer at the question and the thought of her siblings... well, the ones she had met, "but I do have siblings. I have four in total, though three of them are only half siblings. Two sisters and two brothers." She explained further with a flick of her tail. "Unfortunately, I haven't met my half-sister yet, but I hope to change that one day. How about you... I mean, if you don't mind me asking you?"

"I don't mind at all" She grinned wide. "Just have a sister, though knowing my parents it won't be long before they give us siblings." She chuckled some. "Father's been saying he wants a son. I guess I can't really blame him much." She gave a small shrug as she looked at the other mare. "I'll be happy for him if he does some day. I've always wondered what it'd be like to have a brother..." She wagered it'd be a happy day when that happened. She just wished her sister would be there to join in with the joy.

Kihaku smiled as Merashik devulged about having a sister, her family and her wonder of possibly having a brother. She shifted her weight slightly before nodding softly. "Yes, brothers are great. I mean, I don't know my older older brother too well, he comes and goes, but he's still really nice. I guess it also depends on their personalities. I'm sure that there are some siblings that aren't really the nicest either." She said with a small frown at the thought, but it didn't last as she flicked her short, braided tail.

"I can see where that could be a it of a hindrance in getting to know one's sibling." She offered a friendly smile. "But then maybe even if they're not the nicest they're still family." She nodded. Family was important to her, something that was a bond to test the strains of time no matter how rotten the mood of the individual.
