I've been on a Jewish-music kick lately (Sabres CD on repeat? Oh, yes), and I figured I should inquire as to y'alls' taste in Jewish music.

What's your favourite Jewish folk song? Israeli pop song? Camp song? xD;

I like that one song, Tzena, as my folk song. I love the Israeli trance song "Ani Nitzachti" by the loveable transvestite dana international, and the best camp song is Od Yavo Shalom Aleinu. heart

I got their CDs from a concert they put on for that one guy over the summer. Urmm... he started Zionism, I think. Can't remember his name. >.O;

If not for the concert I would never have heard of 'em. I'm more radio-girl than CD-girl.

xd I had to read that twice. I was like, "No, I don't think Theodore Herzel was a modern Israeli artist..."

That's the guy! They had someone dress up like him and everything. It was freaky in a "Hey he looks like Lincoln!" kinda way.

Can someone recommend some good popular middle-eastern or Jewish music to me? I am just dying to get some, but I don't know where to start. I have mostly been in love with klezmer my entire life (loved going to a Klezmatics concert!), and I suppose The Klezmatics is my favorite group (mmmm.. Blood Red Oranges...). My favorite CD would have to be Live in the Fiddler's House featuring Itzhak Perlman, the greatest violinist the word has seen! heart heart I love him so much... what a role model. I wish he was my uncle... xd I saw him in concert recently too... It was a very small crowd and we were in the front row. Very quiet, personal, and absolutely thriling. My favorite folk song would have to be a tie between Dayenu and Mao Tzur. Well... no.. Mao Tzur is definitely the favorite. biggrin I adore that song.

So I've heard. XDD

They're just one of the two groups I know the name of. There's this one I like, I gave the CD to my boyfriend, but ...my Hebrew is lacking, so I have no clue what their name is. ._.

KLEEEEZMER... we played that during my bat mitzvah dinner. My family's like, obsessed. Personally, I would've liked to get on with the dancing music and the more popular stuff a little faster, but meh.
