Kahya was off wandering like she always was. Today, she decided to return to her favorite place by the lake. She enjoyed being there because it was wide and open, and it was by the water, and water always made her feel calm and happy.
Ever since her fall-out with Tomas, she had been somewhat broken-hearted, and had built a thick wall around herself. Unfortunately for her, she had been deceived at such a young age that the damage was pretty bad, and she doubted she could ever trust someone again. She had met someone new, Amitola, and she hoped this time she'd be able to trust someone again.
She sighed heavily and approached the lake. She looked down at her reflection, and expected to see an old, withered mare and was shocked when she saw a young and alive horse. She felt like she was a hundred years old. She sipped at the clear water.

Macchiato was taking a stroll away from Torren. She was getting increasingly fatigued with the burden of carrying kids in her stomach. Her body was getting quite swollen, and she dreaded when she'd have to finally give birth to these kids. She rather enjoyed being pregnant, and having kids around would mean that her peace and quiet would be disturbed with reckless children. Nevertheless, she was glad. Torren had had kids before, so at least one of them knew what they were doing.
She sighed heavily before realizing she was thirsty. She had been wandering in the plains, and could spot the lake not far from here, so she decided she'd cross the plains and take a sip. Torren would not be happy with her walking in to sun, but she was almost positive the days were getting cooler and the leaves were falling.
When she finally approached the lake, she stopped dead in her tracks. A bright light green mare was having a drink. She had spots and stipes, and a long curly mane and tail.
"Ma?" she called out, her voice shaky.

Kahya raised her head when she heard someone call out for their mother. She turned, and was shocked to see one of her own kids.
"Macchi?" she answered. She could barely recognize her. She hadn't seen her daughter since she'd abandoned her when she was a little filly. To see her here... standing in front of her... Her throat was stuck. She could feel her eyes watering, push she shrugged off her maternal instincts and answered coolly;
"What are you doing here Macchi?"

Macchi felt sick. She hadn't seen her mother in years. She barely had a recollection of her childhood memories. Unfortunately, there was only one happy memory that she had been holding onto all her life. She dearly hoped that her mother had at least a good reason for leaving her and her brother alone. The fact that she didn't approach her and embrace her daughter and cover her with loving affections broke her heart. She was a frail girl, and she had no one else to blame but her mother for leaving her with trust issues due to a bad childhood.
"What am I doing here?" she repeated incredulously. "You left me, haven't seen me in years, and you ask me what I'm doing here?" she was shouting now, a tone of voice she'd never used before.
She approached her mother, eyes filled with hatred and a tinge of sadness. "Are you shocked I'm alive? After you left me and my brother when we were just kids?"

"I left you because..." she started, but had difficulty finishing her sentence. She wanted to be as honest as possible with her one and only daughter, and maybe one day she would forgive her. "I couldn't deal with having kids. The truth is, I'm a kid myself."
She hoped for some sympathy, but had a feeling she'd have to explain herself some more. She raised her head down in shame and hoped that her daughter would understand.
"But of all people, you would understand, right? I mean, after all, you're young. Aren't you afraid of having children?" she argued. "Don't you want to be free and wild?"

At first, she felt somewhat sympathetic for her mother. It seemed as though she was somewhat sad about leaving them. But as soon as she started to plead for her to understand what she was going through, Macchi was appalled.
"No, ma, I don't understand what you are going through." she started, building up the tension in her voice. She'd been traveling aimlessly through the land in search of answers and possible hope for love but she hadn't gotten any, and now finally, after all this time, she ran into her mother to find her asking her to understand.
"I may be as young as you, but there's no way I'm abandoning my kids. And, unlike you, I plan on staying with their father so they can grow up with a real family." she sounded proud and confident despite her misery at not having a mother.

"You're just a child... You don't know what you want." Kahya whispered to herself loud enough so that Macchi could hear. She thought of herself, and how in love she was with Tomas.
"Just remember that everything can change! Your mate may love you now, but you never know when he'll find a prettier mare and take her to be his lifemate." she felt that even though Macchi wouldn't listen to her, she owed her some motherly advice. It was up to her whether or not she'd listen to it. Despite her foolishness as a young one, she felt that she was in a good position to know what was right and wrong in young loves. And Macchi was clearly wrong! She was repeating her mother's mistakes... and that hurt her.

Macchi was appalled at how stubborn her mother was. When she'd envisioned them reuniting, she'd pictured something much more different. Once again, she had been left disappointed.
"Ma, I'm done here." she dropped her ears and sulked slightly, but the sadness soon left her. It wasn't her fault that her mother was such a stupid, stupid tramp that thought she was always right. Feeling the weight on her stomach heavily now, she carefully turned around and start walking in the opposite direction of her mother. Before she was out of sight, she turned her head slowly and called out one last time,
"Don't ever speak to my family." and with that, she was off, by herself, as she had been for many months. This time though, she had a choice, and she had somewhere to go.

Kahya stared after her daughter, but did nothing to stop her. This bittersweet pain of losing her felt so familiar, she almost believed she would feel it again.
My darling... we'll meet again.
