Strengths:
Does not sleep, can be hyper focused on things, learns quickly, loves to experiment, incredibly curious
Flaws:
Does not sleep, is quickly bored, gets easily carried away when trying out new things, constantly craves attention, incredibly curious, is a bit of a messie. He's terrified of cats since his guardian's cat Verne used to chase him when he was still a wisp.
General:
Rutie is a passionate tinkerer. Give him tools and something to take apart and/or fix, and he is happy. He rarely "speaks", but rather tends to broadcast just his feelings. When he speaks, it's in short energetic bursts of single words and short sentences, often using quotes from movies he's watched. He has a passion for Ruben Goldberg machines. He loves science fiction movies, especially old school space operas. He loves going to second hand stores and flea markets with his guardian to look for more tools, screws, and things to take apart and fix. He has an excessive collection of marbles and rubber bands. Rutilated Quartz: Facts, Information and Description
Quartz is the most common mineral on Earth. It is found in nearly every geological environment and is a component of almost every rock type. It makes up about 12% of the earth's crust, occurring in a wide variety of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. It is also the most varied in terms of variety and color. Quartz is a 7 on the Mohs scale of hardness.
Rutilated quartz is found in Australia, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Madagascar, Norway, Pakistan and the United States.
Rutile is a major ore of titanium, which is a metal used for high tech alloys. It often forms needle-like crystal inclusions inside quartz. This form of quartz is known as rutilated quartz and it looks like small bars of embedded gold. Rutile is a 6 on the Mohs scale.
Because of the difference in hardness between the two materials and because of the way rutile forms inside, this can be a difficult stone to attain a smooth surface without pits.
Rutilated quartz has been referred to as Cupid's darts, Venus hair stone and Fleches d'amour.
The name quartz comes from the Saxon word querklufterz which meant cross vein ore. The name rutile comes from the Latin word rutilus meaning red.

Shadow. Since Rutie is a shadow fiend, he possesses all the abilities typical for his kind—he is virtually weightless and floats, he can manipulate shadows or meld with them to hide, phase through solid objects, and communicate via telepathy.
Overclocking:
Amplify—He can literally make mechanical function and abilities in people better, faster, and stronger for a short period of time. Amplified abilities in a person or creature will last for approximately half an hour before he becomes exhausted. He requires 6 hours to recharge his ability. There is currently a 85% chance that any machine he amplifies will break afterwards. Delay—This would be the exact opposite of amplifying. Stats are the same, but in this instance he causes an intentional delay/lag, mechanical error, or slowing down of a process or ability affecting another person or thing.

PERSONALITY Strengths:
Miranda is very social and good at networking and communication, responsible, honest to a fault, and always trying to do The Right Thing. She eats organic and is a fan of clean eating, does not drink, is politically correct, saves energy, separates her waste, and recycles. She is such a goody two-shoes, it's no wonder Reyna hates on her. XD
Flaws:
Miranda occasionally tends to get a bit carried away in her righteousness when she starts to lecture other people. She is very naive and gullible, which makes her an easy target for Reyna's pranks. She is an only child of very wealthy and influential parents, and as such has grown up rather sheltered. She tends to be a bit careless about things since she knows full well she only needs to make a phone call for her parents to fix things. She is extremely forgiving, it's impossible for her to hold a grudge for long.
General:
Overall she is just an incredibly sweet person, always willing to help out in a pinch. She's typically right on top of what's hip and trendy. Loves cats.

Rutie, his guardian and his guardian's cat and shadow imp share a tiny one-room apartment downtown Durem. Since he does not sleep, this makes things rather stressful for Miranda.

Apart from the small invasion of shadow imps a little while back, Rutie's life has been fairly uneventful so far. He'll usually accompany Miranda to the shop when she works there, and typically keeps himself occupied trying to fix the coffee machine/fridge/toaster/microwave if either Athan's or Reyna's magic ended up breaking them again.
In the course of the most recent meta he was hit by a surge of magic through the bond he shares with his brethren. He keeps discharging that overload on electric appliances which breaks them. So far he and his guardian have not become further involved with the current meta.
