Hanging upside down on the wall, with her hair cascading on the ground.. Val awaited the captain's arrival with anticipation.
She had heard of Captain Wolframite. He was a year younger than her, yet already a captain. But unlike the other captains she knew, he kept his rank on the down-low. Always quiet, and shy; she barely heard him speak up during the meetings. She would have assumed him to be a nobody, but that wasn't the case. Despite his conservative and unassuming manner, he was praised as an obedient soldier because he faithfully followed the queen's orders.
Like the queen's lapdog.
He had intrigued her, and to her surprise, she found herself approaching him with the offer to "patrol" together in an effort to get to know him better.

Corruption sometimes made people cocky, but Wolframite had always been quiet, not wanting to gather too much attention but happily taking in any that he got from his superiors. Faithful and loyal to a fault, once could easily connect 'dog' and 'wolf' from his Negaverse name and habits. But there were reasons too. As of yet, he had really accomplished little. Aside from being lucky enough to survive some rather dangerous situations, something he felt was more luck than skill, he also hadn't gathered any real trophy prize. In fact, his promotion had been a way to help him achieve something after a failure and personal loss. Wolframite didn't boast or make a big deal of himself because he felt he had no reason to. He didn't deserve it, and while Beryl was a cruel judge of her minions, Wolframite did a pretty good job judging himself.
But he was determined and he was set in his goals. That meant training every waking moment. He dropped his clubs, his hobbies, and ever since his promotion, trained and practiced with and without other Negaversers to become the best he could be. He HAD to get better, and he had to make improvements on his rather sad record. He was given power and a second chance because of Beryl.
So he was working hard, which meant he took any offer for a patrol. Not only to train, but for personal safety. He was still adjusting to having one eye, and while getting better, he didn't like risking it if he didn't have to. Partners were great for everyone. More protection, more backup, and they could watch out for each other. This was what teamwork was about.
When he saw Lieutenant Valleriite, she was upside down, making his eyes shoot to the side and glance anywhere but her rather skimpy uniform. Girls these days had some of the smallest outfits, and he worried her tight skirt would losing to gravity and fall down.
"Lieutenant Valleriite." He said, speaking to the wall than more at her. "Nice to see you are early." Again, not looking at her, and maybe a little more pink in the face than what the lightly cold weather could take credit for. "I thought that you could pick where to patrol."

"For once." Val agreed with a smile. She was rarely one for punctuality but tonight was the exception. After all, she had been the one to invite him out.
Noting the blush on the boy's cheeks, she gave a little chuckle. His reaction was of such innocence that she almost found it endearing. "Awww." She was tempted to say out-loud but refrained from doing so. She didn't want to appear as if she was mocking him, when she sincerely wasn't.
Though if it had been anyone else, there would have no end to her taunts and tease.
She spun herself around to a proper sitting position with her legs crossed. Hands braced against the concrete below her, she appeared to give the thought a contemplative glance. It took her a few minutes to answer, "Hmm. Perhaps the park?" She suggested.
At this hour, there were usually a few victims here and there to be found.

He breathed deep at seeing her finally turn about and was glad she added in the decency to also cross her legs. It was hard to look other places when you had been told all your life to look people in the eye when addressing them. He just couldn't handle panty shots or, as some uniforms had shown, ample cleavage. It only made him want to place a mental censor bar up over them in order to keep himself from feeling too uncomfortable. He was sure they would think he was peeking. If the Negaverse was ran by him – and he even felt a danger in just thinking that incase Beryl could read minds – then he'd institute a dress code.
Luckily for everyone, the Negas were free to dress as however their uniforms dictated and he was left to blush and side-glance all he wanted.
"The park sounds like a good idea. There is usually someone there. The senshi tend to hang about there often, and even a few jogging fanatics who don't care about the warnings that were given out." And a few teenagers making out. Those were the couples he avoided only because he couldn't bring himself to walk up and steal a starseed from a couple sucking face. Just getting that close to them when they were tongue wrestling made him sick.
He turned and gestured for Valleriite to lead the way, both because of this being her suggestion and because ladies always went first (outfit aside of course). "How have you been doing? Have you been a lieutenant for a while?" He knew very little about the newer recruits and the sea of new faces during meetings sometimes went unnoticed as he was concentrating on other things.

Falling into step with the captain, Val gazed thoughtfully at him. Never had she been asked such a polite question by a Negaverse officer, a captain no less. The first thing to come out of their mouth: orders.
It was certainly a surprise.
With a smile, "You could say that." She laughed. It was no wonder that he had not known, most of the agents were far too busy to notice much of the other newer recruits. "I've actually been here a while. Since before you were recruited, as a matter of fact."
A wry grin tugged at the corner of her lips as she reflected upon the irony of her situation.
A part of the Negaverse since almost the beginning, she was far more experience than Wolframite but her rank was still that of a meager lieutenant. It was somewhat pathetic, many said. But she didn't particularly care. Glancing down at him, there wasn't a hint of envy or resentment within her eyes as she casually conversed with him. "While I haven't been here as long as the generals.." Her voice trailed off, as she absentmindedly gazed off into the distance.
'I've been here at least long enough, to witness most of what had happened within the Negaverse. It's a tragedy, really."

He hadn’t even known and felt embarrassed that he hadn’t noticed or respected a person who was his senior, at least as far as being in the Negaverse with. It was somewhat awkward to be in a rank higher than someone who was here in the Negaverse longer than you were, and while he didn't want to say anything it, he wondered why she was still a Lieutenant. While it was sometimes odd for him to be a Captain with those who were older than he was, it was also strange to be with someone who should have outranked you ages ago. It wasn't like he could puff with any pride in that he had somehow did something special to earn his rank. He had been lucky and Beryl had just decided to equip him to work better.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't notice before. I…don't know a lot of the Negaversers around." Case in point, he was going out on patrol with anyone who wanted to meet him. Despite their numbers being less than the senshi, they were still a large group.
"I wish I could have been entered in the Negaverse sooner. I just entered it when our leaders changes." He had meet Charonite and Ursula, gotten to know and respect them, before everything changed. He wished he had had more time to know them. They had been great leaders.
He looked over to her. Did she think that the Negaverse now was a tragedy or that she had been here for so long without rising to a new rank? Either way, it was grim ideas and he didn’t want to sour their feet patrol together by making the whole thing depressing.
"You must have had a lot of potential for Charonite to find you. I wish I could have met him earlier than I did so I could have been helping a lot sooner." They started to head towards the gates of the park, and he looked about. He saw no senshi yet. Maybe they could snag a few starseeds while they were here.

"Regrets are for the weak, captain." She said, patting him affectionately on the back. His sincerity for Charonite and Ursula was endearing, but such feelings and attachments would be useless in the end. They were never coming back. She tried to steel herself to that fact, but somewhere in her heart..
A little part of her hoped that she was wrong.
Reflecting upon her recruitment, "Potential? I don't know what that man saw in me.. but I'm glad he did." She laughed, though the last part was spoken softly.
They had reached the park, and he was looking about. It was obvious what he was looking about for, and she was just as relieved as he to find there were none. "Good." She nodded. Quite the pain in the a**, it was almost impossible to do anything when they were around. Always willing to fight, they claimed it was their sense of justice. If only they would abandon that silly notion..
Spying a group of men bullying another, 'Say, Wolframite.." She murmured, throwing a challenging glance in the men's direction.
With a reckless grin, "Howzabout we make it a contest? Whoever gets the higher count wins." She threw the challenge out as a means to test his skills.

Despite plenty of warnings, there were still people at the park. Not terrorists or strange monsters kept people from coming here, and it just made gathering starseeds that much easier. Really, they asked for it, especially the group he spotted further off. Morons. Thickskulled idiots with too much time of their hands and enough testosterone to destroy any brain cells they barely owned.
"Well, he saw something. I could say the same thing. I'd like to think Charonite thought I had something, but I think he was just taking a big risk." He really hadn't been anything special when Charonite met him, and he still felt he was trying to prove he should be wearing his uniform. In this case, he would prove just that with the thugs messing around in the park.
The offer for a small game did not go ignored, and Wolframite smiled over to her. "Sounds fun. So, whoever at the end gets the most wins? I guess there are no rules then aside from not getting the cops called on us." That and maybe not making a bloody mess out of the people. He didn't even think he needed his blades for these guys. The beauty of being a Negaverser was the added physical power and durability, an extra added for each time you were promoted. For a boy who was usually tormented by morons such as these guys, he more than delighted in taking out years of anger and frustration in the name of his team and sweet justice.
"First to get the most wins?" He knelt down, getting in a sort of running start position. "On your count."
