 One...Two...Three... Oh what's that?
Distracted from his current mission, the young blue colt pulled his cyan gaze from the tree's top track the path of a dragonfly. Today, he had set out with a goal, to count the leaves that grew from this specific tree. Why this tree? He could not say, it was simply the one his mind had chosen. And why did he feel the need to count the leaves? The answer was simple, just to know how many there were. And to test himself, to see if he could stay focused long enough to complete the task.
So far, he was failing that test.
Numerous times he found himself having to start over because something else snared his attention. Or his mind had simply wandered off. Subconsciously, he knew that the longer he sat out here, the shorter the time span in which he could stay focused became.
Realizing that he had allowed the mind to wander yet again, the young colt chastised himself, and started over.
One...Two...Three...

Falling leaves, they were always nice to watch. But that wasn't the only reason the rainbow spotted colt came to the forest. There were multiple reasons to enter the mass of trees. His were for berries and, hopefully, to meet other soquili. He didn't care which came first, as he trotted along, humming a random tune. The tune got louder when he heard the birds seemingly singing along with the song, which was usually based on their songs. 'This was so wonderful!' Getting further into the forest, he stopped at a random tree. There, he leaned his rear against its trunk. Upon doing so, he started to wiggle against the tree, effectively using the bark to scratch an itch. Little did he know of the counting going on nearby.

The colt's blue ears swiveled as an odd sound reached them.
22...23...24...What is that?!
Unable to resist the pull of his curiosity, Ellial's mind once more wandered away from the task at hand. Cyan searched the area around him as his ears continued to swivel every which way, trying to track the direction the sound was coming from.
There!
Through the trees he could see... rainbow spots? How odd. After shaking himself off, Ellial moved to investigate.

Ahh... that's good. Ahanu thought as he proceeded to relieve the itch with the bark of the tree. After some time, his itch was soothed, and the colt pushed himself from the side of the tree.
He was about ready to go on his way, with a stretch of his legs. All he needed was to start humming his song again and he could head off. But... what was that? There was something else rustling around.
Well, duh! It's the forest, there are other animals living here.
Still, curiosity got the better of him. So, he backed up to get into a better position before walking in the direction to investigate. Soon enough, his dark eyes caught glimpse of another form on the other side of a tree. "Hello?" He chimed out in a sing-songy voice.

"Hello," echoed Ellial, minus the sing song. His cyan eyes looked through the gaps, searching for another flash of rainbow. The small colt's form wiggled between two trees, his tuft of a tail twitching with the movement.
It felt as if he had unknowingly been pulled into a game of hide and seek with whomever lurked near by. Hopefully it was a friendly presence, unlike Zaitus, who always picked on him. Mean old Zaitus who liked to taunt him and ram him from behind.
"I miss him," murmured the colt to no one in particular, right before he walked straight into a tree. That's what he gets for losing focus.
"Ow!" Ellial wiggled his now sore nose before pouting. "...What was I doing?"

Ahanu kept ducking around the trees, trying to spot the source of the noise and the returned greeting. His ears were perked in hopes to pin-point the exact location. Motion in the corner of his eye caught his attention and he turned toward it.
After a few more steps, he noticed a blue patch in the trees. He peeked his head around a tree and spotted the other colt just as he mentioned missing someone then walking into a tree. He winced when he watched that, slowly inching to the other. "Are you alright?" He asked with a tilt of his head. "I hope you didn't get a splinter, those things are really terrible and they're hard to have taken out." He added.
