-Polaris was finally beginning to feel stronger and more confident in her abilities again. The Halloween masquerade disaster, though it had wrecked all of her social plans, had really went a long way in reassuring her of her capabilities. Despite losing.. despite well.. disaster she couldn't help but feel a little proud of herself. She'd dispatched more youma in a row then she'd ever done at one time, she'd kept on going when she'd felt tired and it'd paid off. None the civilians she'd been watching over were badly hurt. It was a badge of honor on an otherwise shitty night.

Nonetheless Polaris made the decision upon leaving that night that it would be better to patrol with backup. After a strength crippling coma and a few close calls one could never be too careful.

She'd found the youma easily enough, a small but nasty little beast, like the mixture of an oversized wolf and a rabid porcupine literally tearing through the metal of a shiny red SUV. She yelled out to her partner for the evening, though it was unlikely he needed it with the sounds of shattering glass and screaming car alarm.- "He's over here Taranis!"

Patrols had been organized. Castor and Taranis had seen to that before the Halloween Masque, before the kiss with that Nega, before losing the crystal. It was still a small grouping. The boys simply reached out to who they could and tried to explain their points. Taranis did most of the talking of hard facts, but Castor popped in to smooth things over, to do some of the convincing.

It was by the strange sort that Taranis ended up assigned to patrol with Polaris.

The two had a strained relationship at best. Taranis knew Polaris was the very same spoiled Aurora he had met nearly a year ago. She still didn't know who he was, and he was not about to tell her. Still, so long as they didn't talk too much, this patrol session should go just fine.

Rounding the corner, Taranis came up beside the senshi of magnetism, his hands drawn. Without much thought, he shouted, "Taranis Mud Blast!" and sent a sloppily thrown ball of wet sand spiraling toward the youma. In response, the beast shot of a flurry of pins, slice-and-dicing his attack and degrading it to little more than a splash of mud flying in all directions.

The senshi of sand hit the deck, hands over his head, to dodge the spikes with a grunt.

-When Polaris had 'first' met Taranis he had been a regular senshi, so she had been surprised but pleased when they'd met up for the night to see the upgrade he'd receive. His new fuku was actually quite becoming, far more handsome then the ones she'd seen on the few male soliders she knew. If Aurora had only known what Parker did well.. she probably would have dug a pencil in her skull to remove the idea that she might have found him attractive.

She was surprised as he hopped into action so quickly, even more surprised when the youma reacted in such a cool and collected way, taking out his attack without much effort. She was slower than Taranis, simply lifting her hands against the barage, for which she received a couple well planted spines through her ivory gloves. Gritting her teeth as she pulled them out she was able to inspect the hollow points, about four inches long, sturdy enough to do some real damage if it hit soft enough parts. It really was a clever youma. It would be almost impossible to beat if one didn't have offensive magic, most of it's body protected behind the spines. Luckily for them, they did have offensive magics.

They received little more than a growl as the beast turned it's attention back towards the car, clawing and struggling to get in at the prize inside. Polaris decided to take a note from Taranis' book, stretching her hands out wide. Might as well bring some metal in and then chose from her spoils to super smack the pin cushion.- "Magnetic field!!"

The ground was cold with the chill of winter, and the smooth cement stuck to his cheek as Taranis pulled himself back up, leaving an angry red patch of irritated skin. A curse spilled from his lips. "Can't it just be easy tonight," he murmured, rubbing at his wrist.

No sooner had he stood and more things were flying at them -- this time, metal spoils pulled by the senshi to his left. Again, Taranis hit the deck. "Damnit, Polaris. A little warning?" The senshi of sand was clearly in a mood that night.

Back in the car, a woman gripped the steering wheel, eyes blurred with tears as the youma ripped closer and closer into her vehicle.

"Sorry about that" -She stated out of reflex, sparing a momentary glance at Taranis, half expecting him to have a trashcan over his head or some screws stuck in his arms. He seemed not much worse for wear however and she quickly dismissed him for the move at hand.

Spines flew again and Polaris joined Taranis on the ground, arms once again guarding her face. Though the metal projectile stood up a little better than the mud had a good portion of it was deflected or just simply didn't penetrate through the plush spines. They definately needed a strategy. Attack both at once? Come from opposite sides? She was kind of afraid to throw anything big at the car when it could potentially injure the woman.

Polaris began to crawl forward slowly, looking for a good weapon. - "Can you see whether or not the spines are thinning out or if it has an endless supply?"

Taranis was off his game. No, worse than that -- he had gotten off of his game hours ago and was now soaking in a bathtub miles away, listening to some shitty talk radio. Dani's near-death had been one helluva distraction. This bullshit with Castor was making his head spin so fast he feared it might come off.

So when Polaris asked him a question, he shot her a confused look and said, "What?" The words caught up, and he nodded suddenly. Taranis flipped onto his back and ventured a glance at the youma. He was rewarded with a spine to his arm. A gloved hand reached up to pull it out, but instead, the senshi of sand ended up snapping it in half, leaving the tip protruding from the flesh of his arm. A sudden feeling of dopey euphoria flooded his veins. Before the senshi could even curse, he instead did something much more unexpected.

He giggled.

Taranis rolled onto one side, cupped his mouth with his hands and began to giggle like a schoolgirl staying up past her bedtime to watch the season premiere of Hannah Montana. "I think..." he sputtered, voice raising several octaves, "that there is something," more giggles, "in the tips of those," another giggle, "spiiiines." Polaris had been hit with them too, but apparently, the tip had not broken off in her skin.

It was unclear what had happened, but it was probably a decent guess to say that the youma had just roofie'd Taranis.

-If Polaris, or her alter ego Aurora, were a curser an expletive or five would have slipped from her lips as the senshi of sand seemed to flip out, giggling and otherwise losing his mind beside her. She'd been hit by two and a sudden worry crept up on her. If she started to freak like he was they'd be toast and he seemed.. quite literally like no freaking helpt at all. She couldn't stand to get hit again, and she needed to end this battle LIKE NOW.

Her head was swimming due to stress and perhaps even a little of the toxin seeping into her system. Snap decision time, before it was too late.

In it's attempts to tear apart the car the beast had sheered off several couple of foot long shards of the car's hood. Thin shimmering pieces of metal stood like long teeth just behind the vicious beast and Polaris choose the largest. Focusing her energy on the single sliver she called out her super attack before squeezing her eyes shut and praying to god and the moon princess that her shard didn't miss and hit the lady inside. Her super power gave her added accuracy.. but one should never get cocky.. especially not when their insides were beginning to swim and appendages beginning to tingle.- "Super Magnetic field!!"

-The spines were no armor against the long piece of metal as it dissapeared into the youma.-

A mess of giggles on the ground, Sailor Taranis said, "Taranis -- haahaaa -- Mud -- ohhohhooo -- Blast!" A pathetically wobbly ball of wet sand appeared at his fingertips. He sent it sailing in a looping arc from the place were he was prone just as Polaris readied her attack. Her attack hit like a sledgehammer, pinning the youma to the hood of the car.

Before it even reached the target, the mud ball began to break apart. Most of it spilled to the ground, leaving only the smallest chunk to rocket forward and tap the youma. As fate would have it, that was all that was needed. With a pop! and sizzle, the youma dissolved into dust on the hood of the car.

Normally, this would take away its effects, wouldn't it? Apparently not. Just like when a youma broke a senshi's arm, Taranis was just as affected by the toxin as he had been when it was still kicking. Blue eyes searched for Polaris. "Ch-check on the civil-haha-ian and then get me, um, out of here!" The sentence dissolved into breathless laughter.

-Her hand slapped the ground in victory and relief when the youma was successfully dusted. Apparently he was not as useless as he had before seemed. She was thankful for that, which was probably the only reason she refrained from shaking him in frusteration as he began to giggle again.

The lady was more terrified when thankful when Polaris opened the door to check on her, running off and abandoning her destroyed car once she'd stumbled out of it. A smile twitched on Polaris' lips as she watched her depart, ungrateful.. but if she was strong enough to run off then she must have been fine.

It was strange.. despite the lack of actual physical exertion she felt worn out by the battle. Crouching over Taranis she offered a hand and a sigh. She almost wished she WAS as giggley as he was, atleast she'd feel less annoyed.

But what did she even have to be annoyed about? It wasn't really his fault that he'd been hit. Though his lack of focus had almost cost them... Had he been with another senshi that night things might not have turned out in their favor.-

"Nice game face" -She scoffed, trying the best to sooth her nerves.-
PostPosted: Thu Nov 04, 2010 9:28 pm

The giggles rattled his body. When Polaris offered a hand, Taranis tried to take it, but his arms and legs felt like jelly. He simply sagged back to the pavement nearly tugging her with him. The giggles faded slowly, but he was left in the drugged-out euphoria of whatever chemical concoction had been in the spines of that youma. It was clearly a toxin designed to disorient and then immobilize. But it couldn't last forever, right?

Taranis blinked several times, wiggling his nose like he was just aware of its presence on his face. "I feel weird, Ponaris." He stopped, laughed. "Ponaris. I meant to say... Polaris." Another laugh, then his head lolled to one side. "Oh this week keeps getting better and better." The words were slurred, as if he had been drinking, and the bob of his head was like that of someone on pain medication.

-Oh for crying out loud... As he lulled around like a ragdoll Polaris latched her fingers around his wrist before trying best to use her body weight to lift him upwards. It was an unsuccessful endevour however and instead she found herself on the ground as well, nursing an aching bottom. Either she hadn't been scratched deep enough or him breaking the needle had just speed up the onset. Could she wait around long enough for him to sober up a bit? Or would she fall into her own delerium by the time that had happened? Stupid Castor and stupid Tallulah for setting up this patrol. Stupid Negaverse for making such a capable monster.

She frowned, shifting to try and help him up again, this time looping her arms in his.- "It sure sounds like you're having a heck of a better time than I am."
PostPosted: Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:53 pm

When Polaris fell, the senshi of sand hardly moved. His body seemed too taxing then, the muscles needed to control it too complicated. So instead, he just sort of went all loose, allowing himself to roll and buck as the warming toxin worked its way through his system. This wasn't the first time he had been hit by a biochemical youma, but it didn't make it any less frustrating.

Good thing Taranis was hardly in a head space to be thinking about that.

Taranis felt Polaris wrap her arms around him for a second try. His head lolled to her shoulder. "Better time?" The words dissolved into laughter. "I saw my best friend kissing the girl who killed my girlfriend three nights ago." He slapped at the pavement to try and help give Polaris some leverage. "Killed my girlfriend in front of me." He waved one hand. "But she's better now."

Um, what?

-What?

Each giggle interrupted sentences drew forth some version of 'what' to Polaris. Killed my girlfriend drew forth a look of horror, though of course he couldn't see if with her behind him. There were no words that could be given in condolence of that. Though she'd lost her mother long ago.. she'd never even had a boyfriend and the death of one.. it was a heartbreaking thought. And then the betrayal? No wonder he wasn't on his game! She'd be hidden away in her dorm room eating ice cream and bawling like a child.- "I'm sorry.. I didn't know.. Castor didn't mention anything.." -Granted she hadn't talked to him in over three days but still.. it seemed like the kind of thing that was worth warning someone if they did know. To prevent foot in mouth moments or complete disastor spirals. Just another strike against her personal check list against the sleezey menshi.

With his help she'd gotten just enough leverage to pull him half way up, stumbling back a few steps. He was pressed against his body in a way that would have made her heart flutter if her stomach hadn't already been churning at the thought of his girlfriend's murder. And then he unleashed the real doozy. 'But she's better now'.- "W..what?"

"Did her.. starseed get taken?" -It was the only answer she could possibly imagine. That her star seed was taken and then been returned. Either that or Taranis had finally really flipped his lid and was hallucinating the ghost of his dead girlfriend.-

Castor? Of course Polaris would know. Despite their obvious differences, Castor and Taranis were sort of an item -- platonically-speaking -- on the senshi scene. They worked in tandem, tried to get people together, and otherwise made it clear that they were prepared to do whatever it took to make the senshi a more organized fighting force. That drive had originally been spurred by Dani's death at the hands of a faceless Negaverse agent. What did it mean now?

The thoughts were there in his head, but everything was blurred and complicated by the toxin. "Castor kissed Linarite. Linarite took Magellan's starseed." His hands bounced back and forth as he said it, slumping even more over Polaris's shoulder. "Magellan got it back. I don't know how. Magellan is alive. Like an angel. But angels aren't real." One hand went on either one of Polaris's shoulders. "Castor kissed the Nega that I have to kill. Why?" His voice raised an octave. "I mean, why would he do that? Why would he do that, Ponaris?" Another giggle. "Polaris."

-It'd been just a coincidence that the two had been the same. The fault Polaris had laid on Castor was one of a leader who did not keep good enough tabs on his teammates. Had she been a leader she'd have known if something so crucial was effecting those under her watch, or atleast her ego told her so. And she could only assume the reason he'd ditched the Bastards like yesterday's trash was to start his own group and be the leader.

She'd been jealous the moment he'd gained more power than her, why did HE deserve it? And then he'd left their team as Europa had put it 'for bigger and better things'. But now.. as Taranis lay out the story before her the last nail was wedged into the coffin against him. A betrayer of friends AND a traitor to the moon kingdom as well? Her teeth clenched, finding a strength she'd been struggling to find before. Oh the Bastards were going to hear about this! She tried to pull out what pieces of information she could from the bizarre mixture of lament, crack, and giggling. Linarite. Magellan.

It was slow and grueling work, but slowly and surely they were moving away from the street and towards the shadows of an alleyway. His feet were dragging, her arms starting to quiver from the strain.- "Because he is a traitor." -The words were full of venom, if Taranis were more coherent he might have noticed how similar it sounded to when Aurora talked to Parker.

Her words were beginning to be obscured like his, breathy grunts interupting many of the words.- "He's either... a spy... for the other side... and has turned his back.... on the moon princess. Or he's such a moronically... selfish.... skirt chaser.... that he doesn't care who gets hurt... in the crossfire of his philandery."

-Ever ounce of grudge that'd been there before fueled the fire, making her unable to see any less dubious possibility. They'd finally made it to the alleyway, obscured enough that they should be able to rest at least for awhile. Her back slide down the brick wall so that they could both 'sit', hissing a little as the rough surface caught her bare back.- "I have no reason to go after Linarite unless you ask. But it's possible.. we might have to take out Castor as well.."

-She'd struggled before with the morality behind attacking another senshi before. Something she'd gotten over when the black senshi had taken a civilian hostage and stolen her starseed. She'd done it once... could she do it again?-
