(( Note:: Artistic freedom was used in Medusa's life. All of this was taken from facts that I gleaned from the internet, about whom Medusa might have been based on, and so forth. This is not in any way meant to be completely, historically acurate, witht he telling of Medusa as it is in the Greek mythos. )) Nyoka Nyoka is the, as yet, undesputed queen of her kingdom. The Snake Queen.
She came to the throne relatively late in her life, but somehow too early in her mind. She was but a teenager when it was thrust upon her. And, all because of who she was in her past life. Nyoka was reborn, and made herself into who she is today.
Despite being Medusa in one of her past lives.
A brief history of Medusa is as follows: She was born a goddess: the Goddess of Righteous Wrath. She was also a symbol of feminine logic. As the patriarchies slowly became a stronger force, she apposed this. When she took her concerns to her father, he struck her from the Olympus, condemning her, or so he thought, to live out the rest of her mortal life with a tribe of self-sufficient women. The Amazons.
Medusa was quite happy in the tribe, and slowly worked her way up to queen. She was a great queen, one remembered withing the city that she ruled right up to the present. While she ruled, she took a lover by the name of Adena. When Medusa first met her, she did not know that she was pregnant. When she found out, she raised her daughter, Qamra, as though she were of her own flesh and blood.
As all things in Medusa's life, her happiness was short-lived. She first met the man who would later kill her when he attacked her city. A bloody battle followed, leaving the Amazon's numbers depleted, and causing Medusa and her sisters to be scattered to the winds. Adena was killed, and Medusa was unsure whether Qamra survived.
It was while on the run that Medusa stumbled into Athena's temple. She made two new sister there. When Poseidon raped her in the temple, it was her word, the word of a fallen goddess, against Poseidon's. Athena believed that she willingly took the god on as her lover, and defaced her temple in the process. No priestess of her hers would ever be allowed to serve in her temple if they could not refuse the carnal pleasures. She cursed Medusa, and took away the one thing that was considered her most beautiful asset: her hair. When her sisters pleaded with Athena, she punished them as well, casting the three of them to a cave at the edge of the earth, where neither sun nor moon shined.
The rest is history.
Nyoka was set back on the path of the Amazon when her dear friend, and father figure, Uleme, told her she needed to take a trip to Greece. When Uleme led her back to the Amazon city, she met Anemone. She knew her for who she was, in her past life, almost instantly. You see, Anemone is a descendent of Qamra's, one of the last of the bloodline. The throne was offered to Nyoka.
Even with her hesitance to accept, she was still refered to with the royal title. When she left the city to seek out her sisters of old, in the cave at the edge of the earth, Poseidon struck again. He killed Calliope, Anemone's daughter. In revenge, she beheaded Poseidon, almost killing herself in the process. When she returned to the city, with news of both deaths, she decided to take up the throne again. A sort of honer to Calliope, though she never told anyone that this was her reason for doing so.
Nyoka now lives with her adopted daughter, Ernia, in the marble palace in the Amazon city, her city.

Iphigenia Iphigenia commands the whole of the Amazon army in Nyoka's small kingdom. She is fierce in both appearance and her fighting style. Her upper body is riddled with scars, the most noticable of them is a scar across the right side of her face.
She is one of the tallest Amazons, just over seven foot in height. Her body is well muscled, not an ounce of fat on her. Despite her rather intimidating appearance, Iphigenia has a dry sense of humor, and there is always a twinkle in her ebony eyes. She is quick to smile when amongst those she considers friends.
She is also very loyal. She would die for the queen of the city, or any of those close to her. As a seasoned soldier, she is used to taking orders as well as giving them. No one in the city disobeys Iphigenia, not if they want to live comfortably. Not only does she have the ear of Nyoka, whom could make an Amazon's life very hard indeed, but not obeying an order from Iphigenia is seen as a direct insult, and damages her tremendous pride. She will hurt you, and hurt you badly, just to bolster it up again.
Iphigenia is not one for girly things, and does not, really, even wear the modified togas that most of the women do. She wears earthy colors in cotton or leather. Despite Nyoka's concerns of her wearing them, she only wears her strappy sandals. Anemone Anemone was queen of the kingdom before she handed the throne to Nyoka. She is a woman with a level head on her shoulders, and her own wide streak of pride. She may appear more on the feminine and childish side, as she wears the modified toga dresses all of the time, and no shoes, but do not let that fool you. Iphigenia trianed her, personally, when Anemone was queen. If you wrong her, she will kill you just as soon as turn her back on you.
When she relieved herself of the throne, Nyoka insisted that she stay in the palace, to act as queen in her place when she needed to be away for long periods of time. Anemone is Nyoka's right hand woman, and she trust her completely. She still has a great deal of authority in the kingdom because of it, but she refuses to make any major decisions. She does not think it her place.
Anemone is big on "places." As in, if you are, say, a butcher, you haven't the right to talk down to a soldier of the royal army. She respects the butcher, still, as without her, they would not have ready meat to feast on. But, she expects the butcher to know her place, and to act accordingly.
She is a descendant of Adena, Medusa's lover. As such, by the kingdom's laws, she is also a descendant of Medusa. Anemone does not let the fact that she has royal blood allow her to get a "big head." She is proud of it, it is one of the main reasons she has so much pride in who she is, but she will not throw it in your face to get what she wants out of you.

Fauna Fauna is the twin sister of Galena. Both sisters left Ireland in search of a place to carve out a home for themselves, and establish a practice.
Both sisters are magical in nature. Fauna's specialty is fertility. Anyone in the kingdom who wants a child bad enough comes to Fauna. And, because of who they are, she has perfected a spell to insure that the child is a woman.
Getting women pregnant is not the main duty of Fauna. She also keeps a census of sorts. If she believes that there are too many women in the city for them to live comforably, she puts her spells on the shelf and assists her sister with her work, and anyone else if necessary.
Fauna is a very girly woman. She loves the color pink, she loves flowers, and she loves to gossip. She loves to buy clothes, spends hours in front of the mirror in the morning to get ready, and has a table-top full of perfume, and scented oils and lotions.
She has grown fond of pestering Nyoka on supplying an heir to the throne. She knows that Nyoka has a boyfriend, and though she may not like that her queen might one day bring a husband - a king - into the city, she also sees him as a means to an end. Aadil is to get to making babies, and fast. It has gotten to be a little hobby, or a game, of Fauna's. Recently, she has taken to putting fertility potions, and something to help with Nyoka's insistance on not having sex, in her food without Nyoka's knowledge. Galena Galena's specialty is healing. She is so good that there is no other healer in the kingdom.
There are great differences between Fauna and Galena, though they may look alike. Galena is a more stiff than Fauna. That is not to say she does not appreciate a good joke, or that she is anti-social. On the contrary, Galena loves people, and loves to hear stories, jokes, and listen to good music. She is just not as frivilous as her sister. Instead of worrying on her appearance, she keeps her face clean, and her hair combed back. She has few outfits, and nothing scented to splatter all over her body.
Her mind is not always on sex, as her sister's is. And, rather than gossip, Galena is very maternal in the sense that she wishes to help rather than tell your business to anyone who will listen. It could be said that Galena is a true healer. A healer of the mind, the body, and, sometimes, the soul.
