[Ffff, Des's first rp as an adult!]

In an attempt to keep up the charade of being perfectly fine, Deskri had called Sonnet and invited her out to do some things off campus, since she was the only person that actually could make him feel better. He hadn't mentioned his new growth to her at all, since having grown really wasn't something he was too excited about.

Really, his lips had turned purple, he'd somehow managed to look more feminine than ever, and on top of it all, he hadn't even gained one inch of height. And so, grumbling the entire way, he headed off campus and to a small diner that he had found to be reasonable enough to meet Sonnet at.

He shuffled into the diner, ignoring some of the stares and gawks on his way to an empty table. Once seated a waitress made her way over. "Can I get anything for you?" She asked in a most fake polite voice.

"Two cups of water, a friend of mine is going to join me soon enough." He replied without even looking up from the menu.

"Ah... all right then I'll have those right out for you." The customer service forced smile on her face faded as she walked away, but of course, Deskri didn't see that.

Sonnet had taken more time than usual to get ready, mainly because Kyle kept interrupting her in asking her what was going on, where she was going and why she wasn't staying home to play with her. Sonnet probably explained the situation a good 10 times to the toddler by the time she headed out the door with Mizu making sure she had a good grip on Kyle so Sonnet wouldn't have a little friend tagging along.

It had been a while since it was just her and Deskri, and honestly Sonnet wasn't sure what to think about that. Rasiel had up and vanished...again, and she knew deep inside Deskri wasn't taking it well at all. Sure, he could keep the pain inside, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt. If there was one thing Deskri had experience in, it was hiding pain, whether it was emotional or physical.

These were the types of things that were on her mind as she flew off to the diner she had agreed to meet him at. There were people staring at her as she flew past, but she really didn't notice them. The only time she paid attention to the ground was when she decided to land, about a block away in a place on the side walk with no one on it. As she walked the remainder of the way she heard whispers around her, mostly wondering about what she was and things of that nature, but it really didn't bother her. The only person she was worried about was Deskri, and she could see where he was sitting through the window, but he seemed...different.

As she walked inside, she could now see why he looked different to her. He was different looking. His face had smoothed out and...was he wearing purple lipstick? Had it been the lips alone she might have thought that he had just picked up a new fashion trend, but the face was...no, no amount of fashion could shape your face...

"Hey Deskri," she said pleasantly as she took the seat across from him.

Deskri immediately perked up as Sonnet took her seat, a sort of a smile curling it's way into his lips. It wasn't entirely fake, but the fact that it remained for more than a few seconds was a dead give away to anyone who knew him as well as Sonnet did. He, of course, was completely unaware to something so small and thought he was doing a mighty fine job of coming off as perfectly fine.

"Hey. How are you? Anything new?" He tilted his head to one side, his now rather orange-gold eyes examining her carefully. Nothing seemed different... she was perfectly the same outwardly. Perhaps she hadn't really changed at all like he had.

The waitress came back with the waters. She couldn't help but gawk at the difference between Deskri and this friend of his, she was completely different! "Do uh, you two need another minute or two?" She asked as politely as possible.

"Yeah, she hasn't had enough time to look at the menu." Deskri, for once, looked up at the waitress and raised a pierced brow in an expression that said the woman should know that Sonnet had just arrived and hadn't even picked up the menu yet. The waitress nodded and scurried off to help other customers.

"Absolutely nothing is new..." she said with a sigh. "I'm not quite sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing just yet..." And that was true. She hadn't contracted some horrible deadly disease or something, but nothing good was happening either.

She quirked her brow at his looking her over. Was he expecting something to be different? Oh, wait...he looked different though, and if he was seeing if something was different about her...

"Deskri, did you finally advance to the adult stage?" she asked rather blatantly.

"Sounds like a good thing to me." He shrugged his shoulders. Things had been a little to new for him considering Rasiel's disappearance and his magical advancement to the adult stage that left him seemingly the same as he used to be, but perhaps less hormonal. He couldn't really tell.

At the question, Des couldn't help but lay his forehead against the table for a few seconds as he let out a long mix between a groan and a sigh. "Yes." He lifted his head, a most unamused expression on his face.

"And as you can see, I only managed to gain purple lips and a more feminine body structure. I didn't even gain an inch in height!" He rolled his eyes and propped his head up on his hands, immediately adopting a disappointed pout on his face. "Hayden grew too and he's as tall as..." he trailed off, expression momentarily faltering to show the pain he was hiding before it was covered once more. Whether it was his powers covering his actual face or him truly pulling himself together, it wasn't easily seen. "He's as tall as Rasiel is." He finished a second later.

Sonnet smiled weakly, reaching over the table to pat one of Deskri's hands. She really wished she could just snap her fingers and make Rasiel come back. That would have made things a whole lot easier so many weeks ago, instead of watching Deskri 'secretly' spiral downwards into another horrible depression. It hurt her so much on the inside knowing that she really couldn't do anything but try and distract him from the pain.

"I...I see...well...I...haven't grown yet..." she admitted with a stammer, half embarrassed and half still frikin worried about Deskri. She picked up her menu and looked at it halfheartedly. She was still stuck as a teen. Dammit all...

"You'll grow soon... I mean, you're a day older than I am." Deskri nodded a little, convinced that she would grow soon enough and would probably get the one thing he wanted so bad, extra height.

Since she had picked up her menu, Deskri glanced at his, deciding to get some fried mozzarella sticks since he wasn't particularly hungry. He never really was these days, it was all just something he shoved down his throat to keep his systems running. The waitress returned once more.

"Have you two decided on something?" She asked as she pulled out her notepad.

"I'll just have the fried mozzarella sticks..." He responded, eyes wandering over to Sonnet when it was her turn to speak.

"Could I get the chicken strips please? And can I substitute onion rings for the fries?" she said, pausing to think for a moment. "Oh, and a lemonade too."

The woman nodded, scribbling down the order before skittering off to the kitchen to relay the order to the chef.

She then looked at Deskri again. She wasn't stupid. When he got really depressed he would hardly eat. She was half tempted to just yank up his shirt right there in the diner and see how many ribs she could see to see how bad it was, but she thought better of it.

She just rested her head on her propped up hands and looked out the window. Here wasn't a good place to prod him, if anyplace at all. He might blow up at her, or break down sobbing, neither which she wanted right now.

Deskri wasn't completely oblivious to the thoughts going through Sonnet's head. He knew she at least had some insight to the things he was hiding from the world, but what he was getting from her expression said that she knew a lot more than he thought she did. He wasn't sure if he liked that. Eventually... he knew he would have to open up and talk about it... but not now, not when the wound was still so fresh, so sensitive, so agonizing. He wanted to wait for it to be dulled down, numb, almost to the point where talking wouldn't change anything at all.

"How's your family?" He asked after a long moment of awkward silence. "Asu and Hayden are okay. Asu decided to volunteer to help the school out a few weeks ago..."

"Everything is fine for the most part. Kyle's still a bit sore that she wasn't able to go to the Halloween party, but it was for the best really...Cedric can only do so much to keep his inner beast under control..." she said wistfully, her attention mainly out the window, though she peered at Deskri every now and again.

This was awful. It wasn't the stage/age gap making things awkward. It was the fact that the topic of 'Rasiel vanished without saying anything and left a painful gash in Deskri's heart' was just hanging over them and neither of them could talk about it. What else was there to talk about? That pain was going to always be there, lording over them and their inability to talk about it.

"Did she at least get to trick-or-treat?" He quirked a brow. It seemed fair enough, though... the idea of Kyle with a bag full of sugary treats scared the hell out of him, and he didn't even live with her.

He sighed, glancing around the diner, feeling more an more awkward. He admitted to himself that he had mostly invited Sonnet out for selfish reasons... wanting her presence to ease the pain, but part of easing the paint was talking about the pain, which was the last thing he wanted to do.

"I'm um.." he started, and then stopped, and then started again, "I think I'm going to move into the houses... you know... change of scenery... I'll probably leave a note...." His voice trailed off again. Though the pained expression didn't return.

Sonnet shook her head no. "We're trying to cut down on Kyle's sugar intake. She's frightening on a sugar high..." she said with an almost shudder.

Sonnet perked up at the other bit of news. "That's good Deskri. A change of scenery would do you some good," she said with a matter of fact sort of nod. It was a step towards healing, and she was proud of him for it.

"Be sure to invite me over when it's not a mess from moving your things over there," she joked, sipping on the lemonade that somehow made it to the table. Waitresses were sneaky like that. It's part of the job after all.

"I imagine so." Des nodded his head. "She could always trick-or-treat for school donations? I dunno." He shrugged a little.

A bit of a smile came to his face, a part of him really was happy she thought it was a good idea. He had figured he was rushing into things, desperate to get away from a place that constantly reminded him of abandonment. "That won't be too hard, I don't have a lot of stuff." He laughed dryly, not at all like his usual laugh when it was just the two of them.

Sonnet gave a quick sigh before cheering herself up once again.

"Then I'll just have to give you more stuff as a house warming gift!" she said with a smile. "How about after we're done eating we go shopping and I get you something nice? It'd be only fair seeing as it was your birthday just a few days ago. I need to get you SOMETHING. Four years is a long time for a meta. You and I are practically ancients!"

The waitress came back and set the food down in front of them, as if on cue.

"You don't have to." He shook his head and picked up a mozzarella stick. He pulled it apart, making sure to get all of the cheese before popping the smaller end into his mouth and chewing for a moment before speaking again. "It was your birthday too, so you can get me a present if I can get you one, too. I know, everyone is so much younger... except for Syth and... Alice." He sighed and shrugged a little. "Did you have any particular place in mind to go to?" He asked and then ate the other part of his mozzarella stick.
