((This RP begins with the log of some in-thread RP, and then moves along to their interaction with the baskets, and once the foals pop they will be thrown in here to begin fleshing them out also. Names will be added into this list when they are decided upon. ))
Ariadne (stormflower) , Rainart (Darkmoon Dancer) , Basket 1/Eira Linn (stormflower), Basket 2/Acanthus (Darkmoon Dancer) , and a feature at the beginning of Thamin's Kenet. -------------------- Rainart: -eyes Kenet, sizing him up and considers stalking over to look him over more closely, strange as he seems to Rainart- Kenet lazily rubbed his side against a tree, scratching in between his quills, before arching his thick neck to the ground so he could nibble on the last bit of green grass before winter came.Watching the other Soq for a moment or two, he shakes out his mane and then makes his way closer, head held not quite high, but up, taking confident strides towards the other with a slight tilt to his head, observing, learning. Kenet ripped up a mouth full and returned to his normal standing position, but as he noticed another male draw closer he lowered his head ever so slightly so his tusks were ready for battle.Rainart stops in his tracks when the other male notices him and lowers his tusks. They're definitely thicker than any he's seen on any animal. He lowers his head a little also and only tenses his muscles enough to be ready to react if he should need to, but not enough to set off any alarms. He takes a step or two to the side, and nods his head, just once in a silent greeting, and as he does so, looks the other over. He's not one for many words, but he's not feeling in the mood to start a fight either so he says, "Rainart," with another nod of the head, indicating he meant himself. Kenet simply turned, keeping it to where he was constantly facing the male.Rainart found himself getting no where with this big brute, so instead of pushing the matter further -he wasn't like that, he hunts, but socially... he was the one hunted-. So instead he offers a slight bow of the head, taking a few steps back, and then turns around and trots his way toward the preggo Ariadne, head held up high, but his ears trained back on Kenet just in case of any sort of pursuit. Ariadne: Walking out from the trees she stretches out her wings, not having been flying much due her current state. She observes the other soquili in the area and takes a special note to the other expecting mothers. ------ Ariadne: Cautiously she walks around silently observing and wondering if there was something in the water. She can't remember ever seeing so many expecting mares at once before ------ Ariadne: She stops walking once she notices Rainart heading in her direction. WIth a small smile she turned in his direction to meet him. In closer range she noticed where he had come from and stared at the Tusky male for a moment before addressing her....'partner'? "Hello Rainart, what was that about?", she motioned to the male from before. When Ariadne sees him coming he perks up, swivelling his ears around instead to focus on her, deeming that the male must have stayed where he was, whether that is true or not. A big stupid grin makes it's way across his muzzle and he slows easily to a stop next to her bulging sides. He follows her gaze, seeing the male and gruffly answers, "Nothing. Said 'Hi'." He shrugs slightly, there was nothing else to say! Ariadne: She nods her head and smiles as she give him a quick nuzzle, before she cringes at a sudden twinge of pain in her belly.Rainart's eyes slid closed if only for a moment when she nuzzled him, but quickly snapped back open, feeling that something was wrong. Seeing her cringe he looks her over real quick, and asserts that it wasn't someone doing the hurting... so it meant that it must be her own self.... or the babies inside that round tummy of hers. Without thinking, he presses the side of his broad face up against her belly, careful not to scrape her skin with his mask, and stares at it meaningfully as if the little ones inside would be able to tell he was telling them to stop hurting their momma. Ariadne: She smiles at Rainarts reaction as he stared at her belly. "It's okay, they are restless....I think it's close to time...", her voice trailed off as she felt a few kicks inside.Babies: *are indeed restless and gently moving around and kicking slightly..one harder then the other*Rainart glances over at Ariadne when she speaks, and excitement builds within him, but he keeps his face pressed up against her belly..... until he gets kicked square in the nose. Snorting and shaking his head, Rainart scowls at the belly and gives it a low growl.Ariadne: She feels a very strong kick and it seems to make contact with Rainart's nose. She stifles a small laugh, "Restless and fiesty. It won't be much longer now.....", voice trails off again as another pain that is different from the kicking comes on strong. She grits her teeth through it a bit and gives a small smile to hide the pain she was really feeling. It wasn't anything she couldn't handleHis growl deepens and he thinks about telling it off with some sort nasty comment, but is instead interrupted with a stifled laugh, chances a glance at Ariadne to respond with a slightly less severe scowl in her direction.Ariadne: She looks at Rainart with a smirk before cringing again. "....It is what it is...." After the pain subsides lightly she nudges his check affectionately.Rainart's expression softens as he accepts her nudge. He lifts his head over her neck and hugs her so to speak by resting his head softly over her shoulders. His chest presses up against hers so he can feel her heartbeat, and he just stays still, hoping to at least offer her some comfort.Aria: Smiles and is comforted until the biggest pain comes and labor gives way.......

Baskets! He had been walking around with a goofy smile on his face for the last several days. They were expecting. Yes, he and Ariadne had been expecting baskets and now here they were! He could prance with excitement, he could... but that wouldn't be very manly. Oh hell, what did he care?
Prancing in a tight circle around the mare and the two newly revealed baskets, the draft hummed happily. He was glad that Ariadne was alright, after all, labor could be a difficult process, and he had had to wait outside of this Indian's teepee for much longer than he had wanted to! But after what felt like forever, new-mother emerged with two lovely baskets and quickly lay down around them in the clearing outside of the teepee. He thought she looked tired, but it wasn't his place to say anything like that at a time like this. It wasn't for another minute or two before Rainart finally realised what this meant, and what it meant made him stop dead in his tracks, mid-motion, mid-hum.
With a stupid look on his face he quietly says, "Baskets... of babies..." a long pause, where he stood silent, a leg raised still poised to step, "...Foals?!" His eyes widened and he let that hoof hit the ground to help support his weight. What was he supposed to do with foals?! They... they were small... and weak... and asked lots of questions... and... and... he began to breath heavily, quickly, almost hyperventilating. What had he gotten himself into?!

Ariadne had been in labor in the indian's tepee for hours, but it seemed like days from the pain. She never cared much for the humans, but they were kind and cared for the soquili. Aria's pain increased and she thought of Rainart outside the tepee. It gave her a slight smile as she pictured him pacing and giddy as a foal. Ariadne and Rainart had gone to hunt and learn from each other to better there skills, but something more happened. She found herself actually happy and smiling. She had actually, maybe fallen for the stallion. She'd never felt this way, but she was staring to like the feeling. Her pain returned and she was brought back to reality as finally she gave birth to 2 foals, there baskets ready and waiting. She breathed a heady sigh as she gently nudged the baskets out of the tent to great the new father. She smiled gently as she saw Rainart, she knew that exhaustion was visible in her every move. As she got nudged the baskets the rest oof the way out she lay near a tree and extended her wings to stretch them out and the rested them back at her side as she lay around her baskets still processing that she was a mother. She looked to Rainart as smiled at his excitement, but when he suddenly stopped humming and smiling she knew the reality was hitting him. As he spoke to himself Ariadne gently got up and nudged Rainart reassuringly. "Yes foals, but they will not be weak. We can teach them to hunt, they will be strong.", her voice grew confident and almost cold. She would train them with Rainart to be strong and fear nothing, to be proud of who and what they are...."....our little hunters", she murmured as she lay back around the baskets and nuzzled they, the babies shifted in the baskets, kicking strongly at the sides. That aside a peaceful expression returned to her face as she thought of the ofter side of motherhood. Her mother was weak, but she had a strong heart. Ariadne wantedf to have the softness when needed with motherhood, but would she be able to e gentle to her 'little hunters', while being a strong teacher....

His sides heaved with his hyperventilation until he felt the reassuring touch of Ariadne's skin up against him. He glanced around and had to take a moment to try and remember what was going on. He sees the clearing, Ariadne looking back at him, and then spots the baskets on the ground. 'Oh right. Babies.' This time it all came flooding back but it was calm, as if it were further away from him because he was listening to Ariadne talk of how they were going to raise the two foals. Somehow with her there, this all seemed like a much easier task. And that was saying something.
For this stallion, that usually wandered around solo, to have attached himself to another Soquili really was quite a feat. He had never imagined that he would become so close to anyone at all, and so quickly for that matter! Their first meeting had even gone over well, compared to quite a few of his past first impressions. And over the next several days, no, no... weeks? Oh he didn't know at this point, but that time spent together had really pulled him closer to this mare, allowed him to begin to unfold those many inner layers and try to become more social. And now here they were, two foals kicking at their baskets, probably already impatient to make their way out into the grand world outside of their container.
Rainart watched Ariadne lay down around the baskets once more and he thought to himself, 'Must be exhuasted.' He shakes his head, not even beginning to understand what giving birth must be like. All he knew was the he was damn glad he wasn't female.
When he was breathing normal again, the grey draft also folded his legs and lay down around Ariadne. He nuzzled her mane and neck and whispered to her, "You should get some sleep. I will stay watch until morning." Holding his head up high, he keeps glancing about the clearing, and though he knows that this is a safe place, he would not trust the predators in the area to give up the chance of snapping up a newborn foal.
He will stay on guard all night, not once falling to the embrace of sleep, because his mind is full of milling thoughts that could keep him awake for days. He ponders whether they will have any sons to grow big and strong, or if they will have any daughters to grow as beautiful as their mother. And he ponders where his relationship with Ariadne will go, and whether the two will continue to see each other after the foals are old enough to find their own paths in the big wide world.
Aloud, he keeps whispering to himself one phrase over and over, "Our little hunters..."

Ariadne laid an looked at their beautiful baskets and smiled. Motherhood was making her soft, but she was thinking it wasnt so bad. It all came so fast she couldn't even give an estimate of how long they trained one another, growing closer and now they were parents.
She didn't know if they would last, but she still felt a strong connection to Rainart and she hoped it would last beyond their children growing up strong. She looked at Rainart and leaned into his nuzzle as he told her to rest. She knew he could see how tired she was, and she was not going to second guess the notion. She carefully out-stretched her wing and covered the small baskets.
---- The days past and the babies in their baskets grew more restless, they would soon out grow them and truly be welcomed to the world. Ariadne stayed with the baskets at all times as Rainart hunted for them all. Finally the day came, the baskets were ready to burst.
Ariadne looked for Rainart as he came through the tree line with some rabbits for their dinner. She called out to him almost excited and nervous. "Rainart, its time. The are leaving the baskets." Eira Linn: In her basket the space was minimal, she'd out grown it at long last and her long legs longed to stretch. As so they finally did, with a strong kick the baskets top unwound and she found her self wincing from the bright sun and then looking at her younger brother's basket. She surveyed her surroundings and saw her mother looking proudly down at her and then her father with an expression she couln't place just yet. "Papa, mama.", she said and gave a small smile. She then turned back to her brothers basket an gave it a nudge. "Hey slow poke, come out all ready!", she nudged him again before slowly walking around her mother and looked around.
As she looked around she saw a small young squirrel scampering around. To test her legs she leaped forward and then gave a little run, but still being unsteady she basically squished it. "Eww...pitty", she shook off her hooves and walked back over to her parents giving a coy smile.Ariadne smiled and laughed at her daughter. "Eira Linn.....you are your fathers daughter, no doubt about that. Rainart what do you think?", she smiled at Rainart and back at Eira and then awaited to meet her second born.

As the days passed by Rainart almost grew impatient, or anxious... or nervous... or... something... He really wasn't sure what his emotions were lately, just that they all confused him.
But as he came back to the clearing with dinner hanging from his mouth one day, Ariadne had the best announcement he had heard in a long time. Or perhaps only a few weeks...
He trotted over, dropped the rabbits by Ariadne and then stood by her side all expectantly staring at the baskets. His look was one of excitement, curiosity and something else... Acanthus could hear the commotion outside, mostly his sister prodding at his basket and in response to her nudges and calls he gave the side of the basket a swift kick... sending a hoof straight through. It wiggled a moment before he managed to pull it back inside.
Just as eager, but a little more cautious perhaps, Acanthus didn't just burst his basket open. He stuck his face up against the hole he had just made to try and adjust to the light. Once he spied no immediate danger, he lifted his head -and the basket's lid- just enough to poke his nose out. His jet black eyes scanned the area and he sniffed curiously before finally jerking his head up to flip the lid entirely. Deftly the little colt jumps out of the basket, lands mostly smoothly and then proceeds to stretch his wings out. They're not wet any more like they used to be, but they do feel stiff from the cramped basket, so he shakes them and even manages to get himself maybe a foot off the ground before falling back to the ground, legs a tangled mess.
He hears a squeak and then his sister speak. He turns his head to look and sees a bloody smear on the ground. Lifting his head up and stretching his neck forward, he sniffs at the dead thing and licks his lips. "Mmmmm..." And just then he hears his mother speak, returning his attention to them. He turns around and tilts his head to one side as he looks them over. Papa was big and strong and had lots of cool things on him. And Mama was beautiful, dainty, and yet he could tell that she was just as strong as Papa. Yes, he deemed them to be good parents, even only after seeing them. He tucked his wings as best as he could and wandered closer to them, slowly, sniffing. Entranced by the little ones coming out of their baskets, Rainart was frozen, barely even breathing. Until he saw the filly run over the young squirrel. He burst out laughing. It was low and gravelly, a hearty laugh if there ever was one. Now that was something he hadn't done in a looooong time, but it felt so right.
Once he could stifle his laughter, he replied jovially to his mate, "I approve. Very much." He then extended his own neck to bring his nose right up against Acanthus' giving him a slight nudge. "And of you too, Acanthus. Those wings and horns will be put to good use soon enough."
He was as happy as he could remember ever being, and all this was brought about from foals. Something he had always been rather scared of. No doubt that fright would come back soon enough, but for the time being, he could not be happier.

Ariadne was surprised by Rainarts laugh, but she was laughing as well. She looked to her son and nudged and nipped at his wings. "You have strong wings my son. You will be a great flier in time." She then looked to her daughter and looked her over. "You have speed and soon you'll learn grace. Where your brother is swift in the skies, you will be swift on the ground. You both make me proud.", she nudged her daughters side and looked to Rainart, "Superb, perfect in every way."
Eira looked at her parents and smiled. "I approve of you as well", she then licked at her hooves blood now cold, but still delicious. She then trotted around her father admiring his accessories hoping to have her own one day. "Papa, when will I have prizes, trophies like yours?" She leaned up and rested her front hooves on her father's side to more closely look at his skulls.
((My muse kinda went -poof- a bit XD))

He could finally catch his breath normally after that laugh. It had somehow lifted a great weight off of his shoulders, as if there had been something heavy sitting on his back. What, he couldn't say, but he definitely felt better now that he could see both the foals trot about happily and Ariadne smiling at them along his side.
Two small hooves pressed up against his side and he turned his head to see what the filly had wanted, but she quickly asked him the questions to answer his own. He chuckled softly and nudged Eira softly, replying, "When you earn them, Eira Linn. Time, training, strength. I'll teach you to hunt. Then you'll start to earn your own trophies." He smiled at her. There was true promise in this one, just out of her basket and already pancaking rodents! He knew where her path lay, but where would his son tread?
He held his head high, proudly, when his mama looked him over. And he could just imagine himself eventually learning to fly. He pictured himself flying circles with his mama, side by side, manes whipping in the wind, legs tucked in tight, with a flock of birds flying alongside them. He grinned widely at the thought and couldn't wait for his first lesson.
He glanced over to see his sister talking to their papa. She was asking about his trophies, his awesome accessories that he too was rather curious about, but he left it alone for the time being. Instead, his mind was beginning to whirl with ideas of all the things he wanted to go out and see, all of the things he looked forward to learning, and all of the other Soquili that he would meet. What would they be like? What would they look like? How long were Mama and Papa going to be around? When would he next be able to get away from their watchful eyes....? Ideas for games and pranks filled his mind, but many asked for an accomplice, so he would have to see if his sister would participate. And if not... well then he would have to find himself some friends that would! Yes, he planned on making some friends. And soon, too.

Some time had past and they ate the rabbits and some other small game as dusk was approaching....
Ariadne smiled and looked to Rainart and back to their foals. She ruffled her own wings and nudged the foals together. "Acanthus, Eira I think in a few days time your lessons will begin. Acanthus I will teach you to fly and hunt in the skies while your father and Eira, you will learn how to hunt and learn stealth on the ground. I think after a few weeks you will switch and continue lessons. You both will be great hunters.", she smiled proudly and leaned against Rainart. They would teach their children both their techniques and all their secrets to create the best hunters around. They would indeed be great.
Eira shook out her short main when her mother nudged them together to talk. When she heard they were going to start hunting lessons soon she smiled brightly and ran up to her dad. "Ill get my first trophy with daddy!", she was almost bouncing with excitement at the thought of killing alone. "Acanthy gets to fly with momma, but I bet I can kill more animals then you!" She went to her brother and nudged him playfully and issuing a strong challenge. She then smiled and bounded back to her dad and leaned against his strong legs. If she were small enough she would of stood under him, but she was a little tall for.
Ariadne smiled and laughed at little Eira's enthusiasm and shook her head lightly and ruffled her feathers a bit. "Now Eira it is not about just killing and it's no race...., she paused for a moment and then smiled again. "But a little healthy competition never hurt anybody.", she looked to Rainart smiling. She would issue the same challenge to him, but she knew she would lose. Enough with what they taught to one another Rainart was still the better hunter, though she did have speed and stealth on her side. She looked back to the little ones as the sun was starting to set. "Now to bed. We must all get our rest for the days ahead.", she nuzzled Rainart's cheek and smiled before laying down preparing for sleep. The days ahead would be eventful and exciting for all

Dinner came and went, and the sun continued to sink towards the horizon, more quickly than ever, it felt. But Rainart wasn't one to complain. He could simply spend all day watching over Ariadne, and now he had two new additions to protect and teach. The following experiences would help to mold him into a better social being, even if only around family, it would still be a step forward for this usually awkward stallion.
He shuffled closer to Ariadne as she pulled the foals closer and told them of the plan for the next several days and weeks. She explained their plans for the little ones, and she inspired hope and pride with every word. Rainart couldn't help but stand a little straighter, head lifted a little higher by the end of her little speech.
Acanthus continued to ruffle his wings, almost as if they were itchy or just hadn't quite found the right spot to sit yet. And when he wasn't fidgeting his feathery wings, his little tail was twitchy, trying with all it's might to swish back and forth, but all of this happened silently inside of Acanthus's mind, because he just wanted to do. Do anything, and everything. And something. All at once. But he respected his parents and waited out the entire plan and expectations before finally interjecting with a jibe to throw back at his sister. "Well then I will catch the biggest!" And it may well become true, as he was easily heftier than his sister, and in the weeks to come it would very soon become apparent that he would even outgrow their father, though not by much. He would surely tower over his gloating sister though, and that was something that he looked forward to. He was convinced that if he told himself to grow big and strong, that he would do just that. So if he wasn't going to kill more than his sister, he would just have to kill bigger and win that way.
He stuck his tongue out at Eira but reluctantly curled up between his parents on the ground. Tucking his head under his wing, he quickly drifted off to sleep to dream of clouds and birds and foxes and wolves, and all the wonderful things he would be learning over the next good while.
Rainart snuffled both of his foals lovingly as they settled in for the night, and though he would have greeted a nice comfortable bundle of leaves to lay on, tonight he would stand guard. He would stand guard proudly over his first brood and mate. The days to come would be eventful, and filled with many new experiences and emotions.
