If grilled on the subject of costume, Algie would have to say he cheated.

Most people, on Halloween, went all out to become something fantastical or beyond. Algie went more with the theme of 'what do I have laying around that I could wear?' The answer was obvious and so as he popped into existence on the doorstop of Reyna's swampy abode, he was every inch a WIZARD!

He had gotten a little more elaborate with it. He'd worn the fanciest robes he had, dark green velvet embroidered with gold along with a rather ridiculous wizard's hat. It always made him laugh as it reminded him of one of his old teacher's from school. The brim was wide and the pointed top sagged and flopped over onto it's side. With a quick charm he'd acquired a long grey streaked beard that reached his stomach and was woven with golden thread. His usual modern glasses had been replaced with round golden spectacles. As an expert on the subject, he'd made sure his "costume" was perfect.

Of course little Bloodstone could not dress up but did seem curious about the whole act of disguise as Algie had dressed at home. Now he rested on the man's finger but the wizard suspected that once they started into the haunted house that Bloo would get much more active.

"I certainly planned this well.." He'd appeared right on the house's doorstep and had missed the swampy puddles surrounding the home. He didn't hear any noise inside but was ready for anything when he opened the door. It was Halloween after all!

Algie gasped in disbelief and amusement as they stepped inside and Bloo had already left his finger. The room he'd walked into was a perfect re-creation of the spooky home of the Addams Family! The black and white checkered floor led to the large staircase. Archways draped in curtains led off to a family room and it was perfectly decorated in all of the creepy pageantry of the television show.

"I never watched much television but this is a classic." He pushed his glasses up as Bloo zipped around in the vicinity checking everything out. Algie stood a while before he realized there was nothing happening. He picked up scary noises, strange moans coming from deep within the house and the skittering of animals in deep dark places. It was then that something caught his eye and gave him a childish feeling of giddiness.

While Bloo examined a strange candelabra shaped out of human skulls, Algie eyed up a hangman's noose hanging rather obviously from the cieling. He looked around rather sneakily, as if he were to get caught, and then yanked it with a grin. He even gave his own (awful) impersonation, "Yoooou Raaaaang?"

Bloo zipped back to Algie in apprehension as a massive sound of a gong rang through the room and the house shook uncontrollably!

The house kept shaking and a wall panel opened up to the side of the entry way but then the floor and walls went still and... nothing. Algie pouted slightly as his childlike excitement did not pay off.

"No Lurch.." Bloodstone, having realized that the shaking was all part of the charade, seemed to relax and drift towards the wall opening.

"I suppose you are right," Algie spoke to his silent wisp. "I guess we just keep going. Though I am curious as to what sort of enchantments they used. It's so accurate!" Algie glanced upwards as they entered the new passageway and a large unrealistically bright colored spider skittered onto a web.

The passage was dark, damp and lined with gas lit wall sconces. It seemed to wind in the strangest directions, upwards, downwards and even some weird perfect right angles. Finally a square of light appeared ahead of them and when they exited they were back in the same room once more! This time they had come out behind a suit of armor and closer to the side parlor.

There in the center of the room was a large wicker chair with a wide arched back. He remembered it from the TV show!

Bloodstone had found something else in the room as Algie sat himself in the large wicker seat. It was a black box sitting on a table nearby.

"Oh! That should be Thing." Algie came to join his wisp. "It's a severed hand that walks around. Rather morbid. Always scared me a bit when I was young. Just the thought of a severed hand.." He closed his eyes and shook with an 'uuughh' noise. Bloo bumped himself into the box. It wasn't clear if he was just eager to have the box opened or if he wanted to avenge Algie's fear by challenging the hand monster.

"I'm sure it isn't in there Bloo." he laughed a bit and nonchalantly opened the box. He was confident there would be nothing but as soon as he opened up the box the sound of a woman's wailing scream blasted from the box making Algie jump, tripping on his robe a bit and stumbling into a pile of books on a table behind him. Bloodstone also retreated to his bond's side and when the box snapped shut the scream stopped.

Algie held his chest, recovering from his surprise. "I suppose it isn't a haunted house if you don't get a proper scare.." His words were mixed with his exasperation. he leaned back on his palm and just as he did so the floor panel he touched clicked in.

The wizard hopped up, holding his hand and already regretting touching everything he saw. Bloodstone hovered in front of the man as if he were to protect him from whatever would be coming. A ghostly whispering began, coming from a doorway opposite the room.

Algie pulled out his wand, pointing it at the archway in preparation. "Show yourself!"

Reyna Crelos
Captain

Shameless Ladykiller

PostPosted: Tue Nov 02, 2010 7:45 am

Mystic phased into view with a vauge look of consternation. 'It's not nice to point such things at people,' he replied smoothly as he fluidly glided his way over to where Algie was standing.

He reached for his hand and dropped a piece of candy into his palm. 'There are two more to collect. One from my own guardian, Reyna, and another from Hawk's Eye.'

He faded almost entirely from view and darted through one of the more solid walls. He poked his head back through the wall on a second thought and said, 'Watch out for the nightmare beasts, eh?'

Then he disappeared.

Algie breathed easy and dropped his wand. "I'm sorry.." He looked sheepish to having been caught looking so frightened. He accepted the candy and Bloodstone, seeing a new fiend, looked excited.

But Mystic seemed to disappear as fast as he reappeared and Algie certainly wasn't amused by his comment about nightmare beasts. Bloo seemed to 'scan' the dark doorway for said beasts and was disappointed.

"I suppose we keep moving little Bloo." He moved forward into the arched doorway, feeling the wall for a lightswitch. There was one but it seemed more like those large breaker switched from Frankenstein. It was covered and cobwebs and the wizard made a face as he flipped the device and the lights came on with an unearthly groan.

"How could live in a house where everything makes a noise like death? I wonder what the toilet flush sounds like..." He found himself standing in what clearly was the greenhouse though the rows of plants seemed to go on and he could not see the vast domed windows that he was sure were there somewhere. Bloodstone seemed attracted to a huge plant in the middle of the room with a gilded (and dusty) sign that read 'Cleopatra'.

"Be careful Bloo!" The plant snapped at the stone hungrily but the gemstone was too nimble to be caught easily. "It's a maneater. I remember this one too. but these weird switches and rooms I certainly don't remember." He scratched his head but seemed at a loss about where to go next. Behind him he sould still see the main room he'd come in but felt he should press on. "I will follow you for once, Bloo."

Bloodstone seemed mildly excited by this change of roll and began to wind through aisles of plants. he stayed in a straight line, still in view of the door, but Algie started to have a hard time following. The plants around them seemed to be deliberately tripping him, trying to make him fall. Bloo was helpless to do anything as his bond cried out and was pulled down by a rather large sentient vine. It began to drag him by the ankle, pulling him towards another dark doorway. As he reached the new door he blasted the vine with a spell from his free hand.

"What a dangerous haunted house!" Though he noted that he was not hurt in anyway and the vine recoiled and left him as soon as he reached the new entrance. From his back Algie stared upwards and gasped in surprise once more.

A pair of arms reached down and initially Algie seemed receptive. Of course then another pair of arms reached out.. and then another. As he turned to exclaim he was pulled into the darkness and before he could even respond he popped back in the front door once again.

The man blinked in surprise. Bloodstone apparently had been propelled along with him and now hung uneasily in his bond's shadow.

"That was strange.. we are back at the beginning." The passages that had opened seemed to have been reset, now just solid walls. Algie heard a skittering noise in the room to his left but was suddenly not as eager to go pursue it.

"We've not many options.." He frowned and stroked his temporary beard but Bloodstone had already shaken his fright and was starting to move towards where he heard the noise. The room appeared to be the dining room and there was a large painting on the wall that looked something like Washington Crossing the Delaware but all the figures were skeletons.

"It's coming from there.." The noise sounded like an animal scratching and was coming from the opposite side of what looked like a swinging kitchen door.

"Ready?" Algie took a breath. "One.. Two.. Three..!" He pushed it open.

The door swung open to reveal nothing at all! Algie let out a deep sigh of relief. "I'll have to congratulate Reyna. This is definitely an effective haunted house."

Bloo sunk towards the ground, hunting the floor for whatever creature could have made the scratching noise. The noise persisted though, sounding like it was coming from behind the cabinets and then behind the refrigerator. It was moving along the walls and regardless of the fact that Algie wanted nothing to do with it, Bloo definitely wanted to find the source. He zipped through the shadows until he bumped into the wall. The noise seemed to have stopped there and the only thing that looked like an exit was the abused looking door to a dumbwaiter.

"Bloo we are looking for Reyna.. or Hawk." He fingered the candy in his hand, eager to gain another, as well as a closer step to being out of here. "I don't think they would be in the dumbwaiter. It might be more of those creepy arms.."

As if on cue, the door flew open with a cloud of dust, cobwebs and a pleasantly bone chilling moan!

Algie started to cough uncontrollably from the amount of dust that had just spewed into his face. By the time he'd wiped his eyes he realized that once again he was back in the entrance hall.

The older man let out an uncharacteristic yell of frustration. "They should call this the often-spooky-but-otherwise-extremely-inconvenient house!" He picked a cobweb out of his beard and gave a stern eye to his wisp who seemed to dance in amusement. Apparently the spooky noises and brushes with death were fun, regardless of the fact that the stone seemed a little frightened a few times throughout the encounter.

"I think I am fed up with the downstairs for now. Time to go up?" Algie sighed tiredly. "I'm too old for this."

They began their ascent and found that the stairs were deceptively narrow and tall. Algie was panting by the time he got up to the top, leaning on the banister. There was a set of large double doors that when tried, seemed locked. A small alcove was set in the wall and in golden scrolled letters a sign above read 'Insert Hand for Help'.

"They couldn't be more cryptic?" Algie looked for ANY other option but found none. The alcove he reached into was just coated in dust and cobwebs and after his arm had gone 3/4 of the way in he felt gross things moving around his fingers. He shuddered in disgust but pressed on until his fingertips touched against a panel. The double doors unlocked with a loud hydraulic hissing noise.

"This is absolutely disgusting. My fond memories of the Addams Family are also forever tarnished." His hand was covered in a clear goo by the time he pulled it out and a worm dangled from his fingers. Algie let out a high pitched, yet short, yelp and tossed the offending creepy crawly to the floor. Bloo was already waiting by the double doors, tendrils eagerly touching the handles.

With a shoulder involved, Algie pushed the knob and shoved his way through.

Algie was preoccupied with wiping his gooey hand and not occupied enough with the fact that they had just come into a room... a room of DOORS. Small doors and big doors and normal sized doors. It was also about zero degrees and it felt like there was a breeze even though there were no windows.

"Just wonderful." The center of the room was taken up by one large suit of armor. It just faced them lifelessly, holding a massive axe covered in old, dried blood. The only light was candles that lined the wall but with the breeze they flickered dangerously. The room of doors stretched back into blackness and from the blackness there was a noise like wetness and slime writhing on the wooden floor.

"There's.. something disgusting about that." The wind seemed to pick up and the farthest candles went out. As they did the slopping noise got closer. Each gust of wind brought more darkness and the creeping slimey thing neared them.

"We've.." He looked side to side. One door to his left looked only like a mouse would fit through it. To his right it was massive, the knob bigger than his hand. "We've only got a few options Bloo.."

The wisp disappeared into the shadows and reappeared tapping against the massive doorknob.

The slurping, dragging noise was even closer.

"Good choice!" Algie rushed to the door, gripping the knob with both hands. Panic started to grip him when the knob turned back against him. It was like someone or something on the other side was fighting him! The feeling of being trapped once again panicked the wizard and he threw his whole weight into the door in an effort to get it open.

Reyna Crelos
Captain

Shameless Ladykiller

PostPosted: Tue Nov 02, 2010 1:41 pm

Reyna turned the knob a bit more forcefully and shoved the door open, but caught it before it smacked Algie in the face after she realized it was he on the other side.

"Oops," she said with a brash smirk. "Hm. Looks like I found you rather than you finding me," she announced, "I'll give you a piece of candy anyway, eh?"

She reached out handed Algie the candy as promised. She strode her way past him and across the room, before she stepped through a door that mysteriously hadn't been there moments before.

"See ya~!" she called cheerfully over her shoulder with a wave of her hand. She was having almost entirely too much fun!

Algie seemed too exasperated to speak when Reyna burst through the very door he was struggling to open. He also wasn't even given a second of complaint before she was gone and a piece of candy pressed into his palm was left in her wake. The slithering thing in the dark was still headed his way though and Bloodstone drifted into his eyeline to remind him of the pressing matter.

As if snapping out of a daze, Algie tossed himself into the room and pushed the massive door closed behind him. He heard the slithering, slimy beast go past the door on the other side and he shuddered thinking of what it could have been.

"I never remembered watching the Addams Family and thinking anything to be dangerous.." He let out a relieved breath. Perhaps nothing was dangerous? Perhaps it was just his own fears working against him? Bloodstone rested on his bond's hand and emanated that gentle, natural soothing aura. Algie just smiled and did feel calmer. "Thank you. At least we have two out of three. I think we are almost out of here! Let's explore this room.."

It was black all around them but there weren't any scary noises. He felt for a switch on the wall but found nothing. Like a blind man he clung against what seemed to be cement and drifted around the edge of the room. He eventually was too far from the door to be able to see it and that started to worry him.

"I can't find a light.." He flicked his wand, an effort to use a lighting spell, but when it lit the glow could not penetrate the darkness. "Of course not. That would be too easy. I may have to just walk into the room and see what I find."

Algie wandered towards the center of the room and found it mostly free of furniture. He felt along a table top and eventually bumped into a large wooden chair. Making his way around it, a long string smacked him in the nose and he sighed in relief when he was able to click on a bare bulb above his head.

As he turned to face the chair he jumped and yelped, face to face with a grinning skeleton strapped into an electric chair. It seemed to still be smoking despite the fact that it seemed to have been here for ages. It wasn't until the light came on that he noticed the other decor, racks and beds of nails, each with a skeleton strapped in, grinning in their expressions of death. Despite the lack of flesh the room started to smell of it. Death, decay and rot. Algie recoiled, confused and disgusted. He turned to the closest door and was glad that it was not the one he had come in.

He turned the knob and it turned but seemed stuck, like a chair was placed against the other side. "Move!!" He reeled back and kicked the door down.

Algie stood face to face with a freshly roasted corpse. No wonder the smell seemed to hit him late. He covered his nose and mouth, horrified and feeling slightly sick. The corpse had a lightbulb clenched in it's teeth and in only a moment the bulb started to glow.

Algie coughed managing only one word, "Fester..?" Before the corpse issued a maniacal laugh and it's rotting arms reached for the wizard, closing him in it's gooey rotting grip.

He winced, Bloodstone shaking, and when he opened his eyes he was once again back at the entrance. His stone even seemed relieved as Algie wiped some sweat from his brow.

"Disgusting.." He took a moment and relaxed into a dusty, old style recliner. "I don't know how much more of this I can handle, Bloo... Of course there's no serial killers but this old stuff is pretty spooky on it's own!"

He leaned back to recline, setting his feet up when the moving chair activated a switch. He heard the click and instead of being interested, simply let out a groan. "Again?"

The black and white tile of the entry hall slid aside to reveal a set of cement stairs leading downwards.

Algie hoped and prayed that this would be his last secret entrance and his last foray into the depths of this weiiird house. He took a few steps down into the cellar and was relieved to find a lit torch on the wall that was alright for him to carry. Bloodstone remained on his hand and the wizard couldn't be sure if it was worn out or frightened. He compared being a wisp to being a baby and wasn't surprised that Bloo would be frightened, no matter how much of a warrior he was inside.

The stone walls were cobwebbed but smooth and the further down he got the damper the walls were. He began to hear a drip.. drip.. drip and saw the reflection of water further down the passage.

"I remember the Addams Family had a pet giant squid..." Algie gulped. It wouldn't be the first giant tentacled beast he'd faced in his lifetime but it was not exactly something he looked forward to. He heard the sounds of small animals skittering about his feet and he kicked at something that ran over his shoe.

"Rats are filthy creatures." He came into a room with a round circular pool of dark water. A splash caught his eye but could see no source. The pool's surface was inky black, hinting at it's massive depth. There were no exits which left only the pool itself.

It seemed a bad idea to peer over the edge but he felt compelled, as if something were pulling him. He became aware of an alluring and ghostly song.

"It's coming from the water..?" Despite his brain telling him no, he couldn't help but lean over and stare into his own face reflected in the pool's depths.

Leaning over the water, of course, had been a mistake. The surface began to bubble and large tentacles shot out of the water at amazing speed. The wizard screamed as he was bound in their slimy grip and dragged beneath the surface.

He held his breath, closed his eyes.... and then realized he was back once again at the entrance.

"This is very frustrating." He rubbed his face, removing his golden spectacles to massage the bridge of his nose. Everything about this place was annoying him now. His nostalgia was gone but here he stood in the Addams Family entry hall and everything was pristine, as if none of the horrible, frightening events had ever happened.

He turned to try the front door knob, ready to give up, but Bloodstone gave a shake. The wisp, despite being frightened, wouldn't let him quit. He could feel it bolstering his confidence and turning his 'it's not fair' attitude into a 'fight this thing to the end' attitude.

"Alright.." Algie definitely felt more confident. "Maybe we should try some things again?" The hangman's noose that called the family butler still hung nearby but this time had a helpful little sign, like something out of Alice in Wonderland.

'PULL ME. HARD!'

Algie grabbed the loop and pulled. He pulled with both arms until he was sure it wouldn't pull anymore. Once more the gong sounded and the ground started to shake.
PostPosted: Wed Nov 03, 2010 1:39 pm

'... you called?' Hawk's voice was a whisper right behind Algie before he stepped right through the man and wisp and stood in front of them.

'Having some trouble navigating?' Had there been lips, he might have smirked but instead his eyes just glinted with mischief. 'In any case, here is your last candy.' Dropping the blue candy in Algie's hand, he turned to call forth a rune in the air. Quickly the room dissolved away to an old building, a single room no less!

'Please don't forget to turn those in at the shop for a prize,' he paused for a moment, 'and the exit is that way - but be warned if you come back in, you may not like what else you find ...'

And with that he promptly disappeared back off into the house of horrors.

As Rhys and tek came through the door they found themselves in a much different enviroment from the previous. The empty room that the strobe lights and neon colors had disappeared and left was now gone and they found themselves within the foyer of a large manor. The door they had come through snapped shut behind them, "it looks like we found our way ... further into the house." Rhys spoke softly. Tek darted ahead curiously pausing at a nearby table, Rhys eyes widened some watching the fiend, Tek's green coloring was gone, he was made up of black and shades of gray; holding his own hand up Rhys found he too was now lacking color, they appeared as they would have in a black and white film. "Tek...look at this." Rhys just left his hand up his voice more then a little wary.

Tek turned and moved back to his guardian, Interesting! We are lacking pigment...We do hope to get ours back, but if you don't it shouldn't be so bad - yours wasn't very interesting anyways.

"Hey!" Rhys moved forward narrowing his eyes at the little fiend. After only a few steps Rhys paused there was soft music playing through the house and each step echoed strangely.

The two moved further into the house, they moved away from the checkered tiles and through a nearby archway. A piano sat in the room and eerie music came from it but from their positioning they didn't see anyone playing it. We wonder if it's a machine! The ripple of Tek's cape as he darted toward the piano was all Rhys saw the little fiend moved so quickly. "Will you stop that," muttering Rhys hurried along behind Tek, he didn't have much trouble catching up because the fiend had stopped and was staring at the piano. As Rhys came closer he could see why the fiend had stopped, it wasn't a machine making the piano play but rather a disembodied hand dancing over the keys and making the song play.

"Whoa, what is that..." pausing for only a moment Rhys moved forward reaching for the hand upon the piano. As he did the sound of a door snapping open behind them caused him to turn in surprise.
