Halloween was quickly approaching and Riyo still hadn't picked out a costume. As one would assume, it was her favorite time of the year when the creepy became somewhat normal. One of the few times she felt in the right place.
Though, she decided not to take anybody with her. She had a feeling Mitsu would end up letting it slip to Desmond and Desmond would tell Klyde and her little shadow would be back... Not that she hated the idea, but Riyo wasn't the most co-dependent of souls. A girl needed to be able to turn around without worrying about stepping on toes sometimes...
Besides, she sorta wanted whatever she picked out to be a surprise. Like some twisted kind of prom dress... And didn't want him to end up paying for everything again.
Sneaking out of her dorm quietly, she glanced around to make sure the two vampires were nowhere in sight before walking at a sped up pace towards town. She had a couple of ideas on what she could be, but sometimes it was better if you went into this without expectations.

With Halloween approaching quickly, Blade was finding himself in somewhat of a predicament. He had no costume, but at the same time he wasn't entirely certain if he should bother. There was the masquerade that the school normally held but it wasn't as if he had a date or even people to hang around for it. Most likely he'd not stick around for too long. At the same time, it was interesting to see all the various costumes...
In any case, he didn't have a whole lot else to do so he decided to head to town to maybe go take a look at what the store had. He hadn't any sort of idea of what he would go as.
Leaving his room, he went on towards the town on his own as usual. He was almost there when he spotted someone familiar headed in the same direction. For a moment he thought he was mistaken but no, it was indeed Riyo. He didn't see anyone else with her, which was a little odd. It seemed whenever he spotted her she was either with Klyde or Mitsu.
He wondered where she was headed exactly, aside from town that is. It probably wasn't the same destination as his own. At least that was what he figured. A part of him wanted to talk to her but... that probably really wasn't a good idea.

Riyo continued looking to either side every once in awhile as she walked to town, half expecting Klyde to show up and ask her what she was doing. Luckily, it appeared as though she'd made it to town safe and without detection.
Quietly, she walked up to the Halloween store and stared in the window for a couple of minutes. Most of their displays were those 'sexy' costumes she'd considered slutty and unappealing for most of her life... Until now. She couldn't deny that half of her sorta wanted to at least try them on...
Sticking her hands in her jean pockets, she made a perplexed face and finally walked in, eyes immediately darting around to all the different costumes.

Blade paused when he saw Riyo go on into the costume shop. So she did have the same destination after all. There was a bit of hesitation for him as he wasn't really sure what to make of that. He had to wonder what sort of costume she would go for... she didn't seem like the type to do something like a playboy bunny or whatever, unlike Nami.
Shaking his head to himself, he slowly went on in and glanced around as well.There were all sorts of things around as he would have expected. For a moment or so he was distracted with the things around and had thought that Riyo had gone further into the shop. He nearly walked right into her as a result.
Luckily he didn't. That didn't stop from some color rising up to his face as he quickly went to pretend nothing happened there. Maybe she wouldnt't notice?

Riyo had been almost as distracted as Blade was when he almost walked into her. Noticing somebody had briefly been inside her bubble, she quickly looked over her shoulder with a dash of nervousness... But luckily it had probably just been an accident from one of the other shop patrons.
"Anything I can help you with today, ma'am?" The shop employee questioned. He looked to be of college age with the wide-rimmed glasses and short hair, stuck in the 90s. Kinda like a sexual predator of some kind.
"Not a thing." Riyo quickly responded, trying not to pay too much attention to his attire.
"I'd tell you we've got cat ears on sale, but it looks like you've already got yourself a pair." The man with a nametag that read 'Steve' tried to joke, reaching up to briefly touch them... To which Riyo quickly evaded. "Gee. I can't imagine why you're not working at the comedy club instead of here, Steve." Her eyes held a glare as she walked away from him, looking up at the 'scary' masks. This was usually the kind of thing she got. Her mind always figured since it was Halloween, she should dress as something scary as compared to the sluts who wore princess and fluffy froo froo stuff...
But the thought sorta bothered her this year. Slowly, her head turned to the womens costumes, a little bit of red dabbing at her cheeks... They were so... Skimpy.

Letting out a sigh as it was just brushed off, Blade continued to look around though glanced over towards her again as one of the employees stopped her to see if she needed help. He seemed a little... creepy and the thief wasn't entirely certain if he was like that because he was working in a Halloween shop or if he was naturally a creeper.
Frowning, he shook his head again and looked on around. Nothing just yet was striking out to him. Yeah he could do something gruesome or horrid but he wasn't certain if he really wanted to go with that. He didn't really want to go as like... the President either.
"Hrm.."
As much as he tried to do whatever, he couldn't help but feel a little awkward or something. It always happened whenever he was within the general area as Riyo. Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed her looking at the womens costumes. Really? He didn't think she was the type to go for that, but he didn't think he would mind.. it? Would he? There he was going with getting his thoughts scrambled again.

"Anything I can help you find, sir?" It seemed like the employee had just as quickly popped up behind Blade to check on him, though he was obviously not enthusiastic to talk to a guy as he was a chick.
Riyo glanced around to make sure she wasn't being followed before poking her nose into the woman's section. Most of it she still wouldn't dream of wearing. There were a few she thought she could manage, but none that really caught her eye inparticular. Sure, she wanted a... Nice looking costume this year... But she wasn't going to just jump the gun and be some raunchy naughty nurse.
Before disappointingly walking out of the section, something caught her eye. An Alice in Wonderland dress.
"Hm." It really wasn't the kind of thing Riyo wore... But it lead her to an idea. A great idea.

The lack in enthusiasm was noted and Blade had to wonder if this guy was desperate to talk to girls or something.
"Ah no, it's fine. I'm just looking around right now," he replied, "Thanks though."
Stepping away from Steve, he went on towards a group of costumes. A part of him wanted to approach Riyo but there was no way for him to really go about it without it being awkward. Not to mention that he knew she was currently taken. But besides that, there was still that code he was trying to crack. He hadn't had much of a chance to really work at it and he still didn't have much of a clue as to what the message was aside from that something bad was going to happen.
Letting out a sigh, he paused in front of a costume that reflected that of a samurai's outfit. This could potentially work..

Riyo quietly grabbed the dress and headed up to the front, stopping only to get some fake blood and striped stockings on her way to the register. As she tossed the stuff up, she looked around for the creepy employee... Also spotting Blade in the process.
"Don't I know you from school?" She asked, tone more curious than anything.
"Who, me?" Steve quickly replied, seeming to beam at the idea he'd be able to talk to a mildly attractive girl about something.
"No. Not you." Shot down.
Slunking over, the employee made his way to the register to help her check out. What a shame.

After thinking about it a little longer, Blade went on and grabbed it. He also went to grab a basic mask to add onto it. That should do. Ready to head to the checkout, he heard a familiar voice addressing him. He was about to respond but Steve had beaten him to it, and he sounded a little too eager because of it.
A faint smirk appeared as the guy was quickly shot down though. Looking at Riyo, he nodded quickly and got in line after her.
"Yeah. From science class," he replied, kind of surprised she had spoken up. It made him a little giddy inside but at least he wasn't stammering like fool right now. The second bit in his answer was added since most of the time if someone sort of recognized him from the school, they didn't remember what class or whatever unfortunately. Sometimes not really being noticed was more of a bane than anything else.

"Oh yeah. You're the guy who got the s**t beat out of him in the woods, right Blade?" She didn't forget faces... Just temporarily misplaced them.
As the total was brought up, Riyo pulled out a wallet from the messenger bag at her side. Inside was a bunch of bills of varying value. It looked like she was loaded. Counting out the amount, she placed it on the counter. "I'd ask what you're doing here, but it's kinda obvious."

Blade couldn't help but cringe a little as she seemed to remember that bit clearly. It wasn't really a good thing to be recalled by.
"Ah... yeah.." he said with some sense of hesitation. As she pulled out her wallet, he instinctively glanced that way. Dang she had a lot more than he would have anticipated. But then again, a fair amount of the students at Nao probably were rather well off. Speaking of which, he quickly checked his own wallet to make sure he had enough on him. Fortunately he did this time around but it was barely enough. He was going to need to do some runs after this.
"Guessing you're going to the ball?" he asked more out of curiosity than anything. He wasn't going to ask her (or anyone for that matter) to go with him, but he had a mild interest of seeing who might be around for that.

"Yeah." Riyo said with a small smile and grabbed the bag Steve so kindly handed her. "Halloween is probably the only holiday I really look forward to. Never been much for celebrating Christmas... And don't get me started on Valentines day." She scoffed at the very idea of that holiday, even if she was seeing somebody. It was still cruel to the people who had no one.
"Erm... Miss... I'm hosting a party at my house on Halloween and was wondering if you'd like an invitation." He was still trying, which was kinda sad.
Being interrupted again, Riyo glared back at the shop employee. "I bet you still live in your parents basement, don't you?"
Steve automatically slunked back at her comment. Was he that transparent? Quietly looking forward to Blade, an obviously defeated look on his face, he started a new transaction for his things.

The two holidays she mentioned were not very high up on his list either with the former being highly family oriented and the latter liking to shove loneliness in his face as well. Quite frankly he wasn't really sure which of the two was worse to him. Actually, it was probably Christmas for sure. Not only did he feel left out but it tended to be really cold too.
"Yeah.. really not a huge fan of those myself. At least Halloween usually doesn't leave me feeling like crap at the end of the day," he commented, thinking of how the past years have been on those particular days before raising an eyebrow at the clerk. It seemed he was pretty desperate after all. Poor guy.
With Riyo done with her transaction, he went on to pay for his own costume, leaving a few dollars left in his wallet.

"Hah. Pretty rare to hear somebody isn't a fan of Christmas nowadays. Everybody wants this or that material object... Never anything more or less." She remembered what she used to ask Santa Claus for when she was a small child. She asked for her father back. Now the fat old fart could keep him for all she cared.
"Same thing with birthdays. I stopped celebrating those when I was 4." When her father left. It wasn't like she did it voluntarily like she sounded... It was just that she stopped looking forward to the years as they took their toll on her... And her mother certainly didn't want to celebrate the day of her birth... She wouldn't say that out loud, though. Her face took on a look of reflection, though she hid her pain well.
Steve quickly rung up Blade's things and placed them in a bag, offering up the change as he put the plastic on the counter for the boy to take. Lucky b*****d. Getting to talk to chicks like that...
