Happy Halloween biggrin Have you ever encountered a ghost/spirit? yes, no, maybe so? Describe your experiences or just try to convince me ghosts are real. If no one convinces me I'll just give 50k to someone of my choosing who described their personal experience and 50k to the best reason to believe ghosts are real. Rewards will be given out when I'm damn good and ready lol.
I don't really have a problem with believing in the possibility of another dimension of spirits. My problem is believing that these entities can actually manifest visibly into our world. I also wonder if ghosts are really souls, or are they something else? I currently want to believe that we all have souls and that God is an energy force that gives life to all beings in the universe. I can't convince myself that the Christian/Jewish/Muslim man God that speaks, exists, but I do believe in Jesus Christ. I also want to believe there is another dimension (not heaven or hell or nirvana but it could be depending how you perceive it) where all souls of the universe go when they die. I think it's possible to be contacted by these souls when dreaming or taking DMT/enthogens like the shaman do (they specifically say they talk with the ancestors), and if channeling is real then probably that way too. (If you have any channeling experiences please share that too!) Perhaps a collective consciousness plays into all this, I don't really know, but if there is an afterlife for souls then the possibility of reincarnation also seems quite likely to me. I also believe in aliens 100%, but not just little green men. There are multiple races of aliens and some could look just like us. I believe aliens are here at earth right now and they have been for a very long time. I wonder if some aliens could actually be spirits or demons like some Christians try to say. To me the angels/fallen angels/demons and some mythology gods and goddesses were probably mistaken as such and were really aliens. I could add much more but I don't want to provoke debate about what I tend to believe, I just want to know what YOU believe, so tell me!
Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. - Arthur C. Clarke quotes (English Writer of science fiction, b.1917)

I believe Ghosts exist because their has been so much work put into proving it. I mean honestly, why spark a world up with this if its a hoax. Prypriat; Nuclear site in Ukraine. I bet you wouldn't sleep there, why? It's haunted. Well, atleast we've been told so. Have I seen a ghost? Yes. My friends grandma died a while back, but her essennce still goes throughout the home. It's freaky. Sometimes I feel fingers on me when we watch scary movies, then I feel it's her trying to comfort us in our fear. Call me crazy, but I think it must be real. I believe ghosts are the spiritual embodiment of those who have passed from the real world. Let's goto the Isle. where they dumped people who had the Bubonic Plague. I sure as ******** wouldn't sleep their because the spirits would make me feel the pain they indured all those years.

Good idea!
I, personally, believe ghosts are real. I can't think of any incidents where I have undeniably encountered one, however. That, and I'm not all that interested in getting the 100k...

TrutherMei I can't convince myself that the Christian/Jewish/Muslim man God that speaks, exists, but I do believe in Jesus Christ. Not completely on topic but, this just kinda jumped out at me and I thought 'Hmm, interesting...' I don't think I've ever heard of someone believing one, but not the other. Didn't think it was possible, since Jesus identified with being God so closely that he viewed it as interchangeable. To know Jesus was to know God, to insult Him was to insult God, etc. At least, he mentions as much in his own words on multiple occasions ("I and the Father are one" comes to mind...) Care to elaborate? Or is this too much of an aside, and we should take it to PMs? I personally haven't ever had an experience with ghosts/spirits, nor do I wish to. If something dies, it should have the grace to stay that way. None of this 'in-between' crap is necessary (<--my opinion).

we are basically sacks of organisms. a bag of skin with blood, nerves and bones. but what makes this human shell of a body work? a soul or a spirit. what sees behind these eyes? a spirit. so when this flesh dies it will return to which it came... the earth. leaving the soul... now the soul must have a place to return also right? back to the all. the all is not god but is everything. kinda like starwars and the force. our soul returns back to the all. now this soul i believe is made of some sort of energy and or light. thats why when we walk into a house with a TV on we can feel it even if we dont see or hear the TV. we can feel that it is on. so now to the question "are ghost real?" absolutely. especially if the life of a lost soul (ghosts) was distressed or unsettled. what i am saying is that a ghost is an unpleased soul who has some sort of unfinished business on earth and is stuck on our realm. or a soul who has yet to let go of being in a human form.

Well, when I was little my mom would say that I would run to her when she was in the kitchen saying that there was a strange man in the corner and she would look and there would be no one there. There is another way that I can prove it to you: I can see and communicate with spirits(ghosts) without the need for a Ouija board or any other equipment that is meant for communicating with spirits..

cadb8 there have been MILLIONS of pictures of shoop da whoops, million(well, idk how many, but still) of videos of shoops...they can't all be fake... Just because there are a million pictures/videos of something does not make it true.
There is no way to "prove" a ghost or other entity or energy forms exist without experiencing it first hand. Anything less is just pretending you know.
I don't have proof of ghosts, but after my dad died weird things started happening at our old house. And he always said he'd come and haunt us after he was dead, eh heh. My relationship was always strained with my dad. sweatdrop Anyways, we kept, or I kept hearing strange knocks at the door- loud ones, but there was no one outside. No one ever came by our house there because it was so much in the middle of nowhere.
But the two WEIRDEST things that happened were actually things recorded on our answering machine, two times. I believe they were evps. One was of my uncle, he called and no one answered. My brother was sleeping, but the phone picked up by itself, and my uncle, he was talking to nothing, having a perfectly simple conversation with someone on his end. My brother has the same name as my dad, so my uncle called him "Mike". But he wasn't talking to my brother, my brother was sleeping and didn't recall talking to anyone at the time.
Another weird occurrence happened on my grandma's birthday. Our cellphone at the time called our answering machine with no prior use, and all the sudden we get this weird a** speech recording saying "This is Mike", and some other stuff I can't remember; but believe me it freaked me the hell out. Like, that's the kind of scared I get only after watching a really convincing ghost documentary. It was chilling.
I don't know of a way to get it from one media to another, though, since it's on a more recent answering machine (without tape, so there wouldn't be interference from our side), without lowering the quality of the sound. Dunno if I'd want to either. Like I said, media of ghosts is not proof, you can only experience proof. It's sort of like Gnosis.

Ghosts are not real. Souls do not exist, so neither do ghosts. People on here have said that their are films and pictures of them. How can their be pictures of a soul? In order for something to be in a picture it must be able to have light bounce off of it.
From some of these "encounters" I read above me, most of these people are assuming that they have encountered spirits of the departed. "I had the sheets pulled off of me at night, it must have been a ghost, because I don't know what it was!" or "I saw this thing that looked like a person, then it went away, it must have been a ghost! What else could it be?"
It could be anything.
I think someone needs to prove that souls exist.
I know that this was not the goal of this thread, but I had an opinion (abridged) that needed to be voiced.

So, I was very young when this happened. I do not remember my exact age, but it was terrifying.
I was in the bathroom, alone, when I was using the toilet. Out of nowhere, I felt a hard slap on my face. I got off the toilet and cried to my parents who were in their bedroom, and upon my entrance, they immediately saw a red hand-print on my face. My parents were astounded. They asked what happened and I told them I was in the bathroom and I got slapped.
I had never seen the guilty party, but I do know that I was indeed slapped in the bathroom.
Another time, I was pushed down the stairs by my older half-sister, whom my parents said didn't live with us at that time. That means a ghost pushed me down the stairs in the form of my half sister.

We used to have some pretty cool silverware, that was entirely functional until we moved into a new house, the house had an attic and a basement and was very cold, back in Upstate NY. Anyway, one morning we looked inside the drawer of silverware and these pieces of steel were hideously warped in strange, non euclidean ways, we tried bending them back but it was just not fixable, I mean stuff doesn't bend like that, and we began to wonder how in the hell this could happen. we never got an answer, and no one we knew could explain it.

Yokubo-chan (Pee Pee) Ghosts are not real. Souls do not exist, so neither do ghosts. Prove they don't. If people have seen it, it exists in some way or another. Yokubo-chan (Pee Pee) People on here have said that their are films and pictures of them. How can their be pictures of a soul? In order for something to be in a picture it must be able to have light bounce off of it. Electrical impulses can be photographed. And most people would agree that ghosts can only be caught on film only if it's a film camera, not a digital one. I personally do not put my faith in ghost photography/video taping, because it's impossible to "prove" ghosts to a second hand party, it's not even possible to prove evps which are caused by electrical disturbances at a high frequency as ghosts, but experiences that lead up to it and the energy felt is a different story all together. I wouldn't expect anyone who hasn't studied the occult and metaphysics to understand, especially angtheists or over-skeptics who demand proof even while all the "proof" the physical world is possible to hold is given about a subject. Proof from another world doesn't exist in this one. Yokubo-chan (Pee Pee) From some of these "encounters" I read above me, most of these people are assuming that they have encountered spirits of the departed. "I had the sheets pulled off of me at night, it must have been a ghost, because I don't know what it was!" or "I saw this thing that looked like a person, then it went away, it must have been a ghost! What else could it be?" Well, if all logical explanations do not add up... Including a "ghost"? I agree. Yokubo-chan (Pee Pee) I think someone needs to prove that souls exist. Impossible. Because the definition of "ghost" would change if scientists found out in the first place. Because an abnormality in this reality is impossible to prove to an outside party unless directly experienced. Because there is not enough proof to prove things that even actually exist. have you ever heard of nihilism? Some people believe in that, even while all the proof in the world of the reality around them is "real". You can't just let other people going around telling you what reality is or not, you have to experience it for yourself. Yokubo-chan (Pee Pee) I know that this was not the goal of this thread, but I had an opinion (abridged) that needed to be voiced. I think the worst "proof" of existence for 'ghosts' is that people say there have been so many encounters. It's opposite to something considered direct experience, which is brushed off by the super skeptics. That is ignoring input your brain receives. We should follow whatever input our brain receives, even if it makes us seem crazy or "oh, she believes anything". Scientists used to believe mercury was medicinal, since it was antiseptic. Back in the day you would've believed it. What's the matter with doing the same thing in your day to day life, even with experiences with "ghosts" until it's otherwise disproven to be something else? It annoys me to no end when people do this, that they act like they know what lies outside of this physical reality when they've never even opened their ******** eyes to look, because "it's not logical to my human brain". It has nothing to do with the thread at all, it was just about the best ghost story, really. There's no such thing as second hand proof of ghosts like I've been saying, only first hand encounters which can be pretty creepy sounding.

i do not believe human ghosts are real. call me religious and hate me all you want for saying this, but i believe people, immediately after they die go to either heaven or hell. the "ghosts" that people find now, i believe are simply demons pretending to be human to appear harmless. Have you EVER heard of a "nice" or "helpful" ghost? (Casper doesn't count lol) they're all poltergeists!
