Walking around in the forest, Betula had his eye on all the details. He admired the intricate ridges in the bark of trees he walked past; he smiled at the resilient flowers that still bloomed this late in the fall; he sniffed at the dead leaves that fell all around him. It all intrigued him, and he had all the patience in the world to study each and every little detail and event as it happened. His pace comfortable and easy, the tiny cerynei made his way left and right through the trees, just enjoying all of the intrigues around him.

There! Something was different. His head snapped over and his eyes squinted to try and focus on the oddity. No, he still wasn't picking it out right. He had to get closer. One step, two, and a few more. He made his way nearer to what could have been mistaken for a lazily floating leaf... if leaves came in blue. 'What..... is that....?' he asked himself silently in his head as his brow furrowed and he took another step closer to see better.

The day was simply perfect for a tiny figure to be pushed about by a small breeze. The treetops barely rustled - there weren't many leaves there to in the first place - and the flutter could still control his flight path. The beads in his bright orange mane and around his neck clinked quietly together as he bobbed down the path, a silly smile across his face. Autumn had to be, by far, Dichali's favorite season. Then again, he thought that about every season as it arrived.

A song was about to reach his lips when he noticed something huge and white. It was a peculiar looking horse; probably would blend right in if it were a dull white winter instead of a beautiful, colorful fall. And it was... Looking right at him! How rude! Dichali continued on his path, paying little mind to the horse. Perhaps it just hadn't seen a flutter. This thought settled into the stallion's mind, and he nodded. That must be the case.

As he followed the blue shape and neared it, he realised that this was definitely something that was alive and taking it's own course through the air. It went this way and that, and it was definitely no leaf. A butterfly then? He thought about it for a moment, but no, surely it was too cold for bugs. It was fall, just look at the forest floor. Oranges and yellows and reds and purples told anyone who dared to glance that it was fall. No, not a butterfly. That left one option... but they didn't exist.... did they?

His brow still furrowed, Betula caught up with the creature, and could now see it in full detail. He could see it's equine form, it's bug-like wings, and it's obvious ability to control it's own flight trajectory. Amazed, he breathed quietly, "A Flutter...!" Disbelief obvious in every one of his features, the little Cerynei followed very slowly, keeping a mere leap of space between the two of them, mouth slightly agape and staring. He had been told of this breed, but he hadn't believed it.... until now. He had thought his leg was just being pulled, (there were many that didn't like him, so it would not have been surprising for another to hate him enough to make up tall tales to feed him), but he could see now that it was all true! But... how could they be so small?

Dichali heard the other male following him, and tried his best to ignore it. After a while, however, that wasn't a possibility. The flutter landed and looked up at the cerynei. "Excuse me, sir. May I help you?" He raised a brow, and was almost swept away by the tiniest gusts of wind. An "Oof" escaped him and he sighed. However, he didn't want to change into full size in front of others. Especially not this horse. This one seemed to be intrigued enough as it was.

All of a sudden the flutter landed and turned around to address him, and that was what snapped him out of it. He shook his head and quickly apologised. "S-sorry! I... I... didn't mean to gape..." his expression turned sheepish and a slight touch of pink graced his cheeks. Sure this was a strange sight to see, but that didn't give him any excuse to stare like an idiot.

"I've... never seen one like you." And it was the truth. That alone should explain all of his actions and lack there of, but it still didn't excuse his impoliteness. He offered a small sheepish grin, apologetic in it's own manner.

Dichali nodded in understanding. "Oh, that's all right. I've come across a lot who haven't. Though... It would seem that flutters aren't terribly rare anymore." He nodded at his statement. "In fact, there are three flutters in my herd alone." Nodding again, Dichali fluttered his wings.

"But I'm not entirely sure they count if they're my children." The stallion chuckled and offered the other a smile. "I'm Dichali."

He listened with great interest to what the flutter had to say, about flutters and his herd & family. He was relieved to hear that this flutter had met many others that had never met a flutter before... but again felt rather silly when he heard that they weren't all that rare anymore.

"I'm usually pretty observant, but I may have just overlooked them before. Especially if they were your size, or smaller." Another small grin and he added in, "Nice to meet you, Dichali. My name is Betula. Perhaps I should try to be a little more observant in these forests." A light laugh, more at himself than anything.
