 ((Using his Adolescent Image because I love the spikes XD Plus he needed a change))
The young one slept almost till morning, though it was no longer Zephar who possessed the pup's body and mind. The personality of Zakiax had returned to itself. Waking near the break of dawn the black pup yawned, moving to his feet he stretched himself out, his paws moving past the rancid hind leg carcass under him. Confusion crossed his face, as he wondered were it came from, the hunger in his stomach was gone as well, but he didn't remember eating at all. In fact he had no clue where he was either. Just what had happened to him? Shaking himself off he licked the dried blood off of his paws before turning back to the carcass, he started to eat what was left of it, filling his stomach with his breakfast. After all it was food and he had no idea when his next meal would be so he ate it aside from what it tasted like.

 As the night progressed and lead into the rosy morning, Samantha had dozed off and on, never sinking deeper than a light sleep. She still jolted awake at the slightest sound or movement, eyes scanning the area, as her nose and ears did the same. Finding no sign of danger, she'd allow herself to relax and eventually doze off again.
Now that the sun was preparing to climb from its own nightly bed to begin its daily journey across the sky, when Samantha's eyes flipped open in response to the latest sound and movement, she stayed awake. It seemed that the pup had had a good night's sleep as far as she could tell, and he seemed to be up and about now. Her ears twitched lightly, catching the sounds of scuffling paws associated with waking pups.
Yawning and stretching lithely, Samantha took her time in standing up, then shaking out her fur, mane, and tail. She yawned again, exposing her sharp fangs to the rising sunlight for a moment, then shook her head to rid herself of the last of her sleepiness. Ugh, maybe a nap later today, when the sun was at its highest point and the afternoon was relatively warm...
The thought wandering idlly through her mind, she padded closer to the bushes, calling out softly so as not to startle the pup with her presence (since she was fairly sure he hadn't counted on her sticking around), "Hey kid? You have a good sleep?" She frowned a bit as she neared, hesitating. Something was...off.
She'd dozed some during the night, yes, but she KNEW that no one had entered or left the clump of brush where the pup slept. So how come the scent was just...not quite right?

His ears flicked towards the direction the voice had come from. Who was she? Was she the one who had given him the chunk of meat? He thought on it but his mind drew a blank. He couldn't remember what had happened the day before or where was it. Taking a deep breath the pup took in the female's scent. He emerged from the brush licking his muzzle of the blood which had dried there. "Hello?" he questioned, he was quite confused. "Meat give?" he questioned once more wondering if she was the one who had given him what was left in the bushes.

OKay, this was perplexing. Samantha cocked her head at the pup, blinking a few times in confusion. Something wasn't right here...his scent...it was the same, but different. She couldn't even explain it to herself, so she'd never hope to explain it to another Krokotas, but...there was something just a bit 'off' about the pup. Of course, her vision didn't allow her to notice the change in his coat color; to her, his heat signature remained the same, and his scent was at least close enough to be the same pup. He was the same pup, right?
That was silly, of course he was. She knew no one had entered or left those bushes in the night, so who else would he be?
But what was with the sudden change in attitude? Plus...he was talking! Okay, only a couple words, but that was more than she'd gotten out of him yesterday!
Still eying the pup oddly, she nodded her head once. "Err...yes, " she replied hesitantly, thinking she deciphered the pup's meaning. "I gave you that...yesterday, even if you weren't exactly the most grateful for it," she added with a gentle eyeroll. "Don't you remember?"
She frowned, still questioning this odd personality shift, as well as apparent forgetfulness. It was as if it were a completely different pup altogether! But that was absurd, of course, though it didn't stop her from muttering with a raised eyebrow, "Alright, kid...where'd the other one go?"

Zak tilted his head to the side with a look of confusion up towards the adult female. He had no idea what she was talking about. "No member," he muttered trying to copy her words off of his tongue. "No other." Yep his mind was blank on what had happened yesterday, he mainly just figured it wasn't important to remember what had happened yesterday, so he had forgotten it already, but obviously that wasn't the case. "Meat give, thanks you" Once more his sentences were choppy, obvious that he hadn't been around many other Krokota's before.

Well, even if it was only a few words, it was more than Samantha had managed to get out of him yesterday, and it was plenty for her to make sense out of. Didn't mean she made much sense of the situation, only what the pup was saying. It was a step in the right direction anyway.
She nodded briefly in understanding, allowing a hint of a smile to cross her muzzle as she answered, "You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it." Even if it was greatly delayed, a bit of gratitude went a long way to soothing her demeanor. "You know though," she muttered, casting a glance over the discarded leg and curling a lip in disgust. "That's been out here a bit long. You don't have to eat it now. Tell ya' what...how about you help me catch some breakfast, hmm?"
Even she wasn't sure why she was taking the pup in like this, nor still trying to care for him. He'd had a good meal already from her generosity; she didn't need to give him another. Yet, some part of her wanted to.
Or maybe it was just the part of her that was growing tired of being all alone, all the time.

The pup shook his head. To him the meat was still find, well what was left of it now. "Need go," He spoke. Figuring he should be heading out now. Zak liked being independent so he'd go off and hunt himself. The pup had eaten what he felt he could off of the leg, but still it didn't mean he didn't have to hunt. Usually what he caught were small creatures, mice and the occasional rabbit, hardly enough for a mouthful, but it was how he survived by himself all this time.

"You got somewhere to be, kid?" Samantha teased good-naturedly. He didn't seem to be scared of her or anything, but he sure seemed eager to leave all of a sudden. Least he wasn't snarling at her or trying to maul her ankles anymore or anything like that.
"I just figured, I needed some breakfast myself and maybe you could give me a hand. A great hunter like you could probably give me some tips, huh?" She was obviously teasing and her eyes glittered with amusement above her smirking muzzle. Then again, with this kid, who knew if he'd catch the joke and be amused, or just get mad, assuming he was being teased, and snap at her again. Okay, so she was teasing, but not in a mean-spirited way. She was just trying to give him an excuse, just in case he really did want to go, but didn't want to look like he was depending on her for help.
Again, she wondered privately, why she cared at all.

"Yes go," he replied back, "Hunter Yes," he puffed out his chest a bit. "Fluffy good," what he mainly was talking about was those occasional rabbits he would catch. He didn't know what they were called so this was what he called all animals with fur. "Hunt self," stating that he would hunt himself.

Okay, so he lost her a bit there...but Samantha thought she was still following along for the most part. She chuckled a bit, realizing that he'd taken her seriously. Ah well, that didn't hurt anything. "Yeah, just a couple of hunters, talking about breakfast," she muttered. "Well, in any case, I need some breakfast, so you're free to come along if you'd like and keep me company." Almost as an afterthought, she quickly added, "You can hunt your own food, of course."
She took a moment to stretch, shaking out her fur and making sure her muscles were limbered up for the day, before taking a few steps and glancing back to see if the pup was following.

Zak watched her for a bit watching her head off. Maybe he should follow, just to learn a bit more on the matter, after all he was barely making it on his own out here. But being his own independent self he decided against it. He'd go his own way, hunt his own things, he had always been alone why not keep it that way. Sooner or later the pup's mind would change, but this was not the day for change. This is where the two would part ways, unless Samantha decided to tag along after the pup.

When the pup started off in another direction, Samantha halted with a frown. So much for him following her. Guess her invitation wasn't all that inviting. Reminding herself that she shouldn't take it personally, she stood there for a moment before following after the pup, not quite sure yet why she cared.
"Alright, lead on, mighty hunter," she quipped, slowing her normal pace to fall into step behind the pup with a smirk.

Ears flicking back he turned his head over his shoulder. He thought he had told her he'd be able to hunt himself, now why was she following him? A low growl escaped him in disapproval, why did adults have to be so damn annoying? "Hunt Self," He told her, telling her he can hunt by himself.

Samantha stuck just the tip of her tongue out of her mouth, making a face at the pup. "Darn right, you can hunt for yourself. I'm getting my own breakfast, so there!" She practically giggled, acting much like a pup herself and veiling her true intentions. Fine, she'd let the pup hunt for himself...but that didn't mean she couldn't go along to keep an eye on him.
She'd feel better letting the kid go off alone if she saw firsthand whether or not he could take care of himself anyway.
Continuing, she picked up her speed, outpacing the pup momentarily. She swished her tail behind her, the tip brushing the ground. "Plus, I never saw any sign this was your land. Can't stop me from hunting for myself!" Samantha chuckled softly, turning back in a momentary pause to grin at the pup.

She did have a point. This wasn't his land, after all he was just wandering for the time being. Still she didn't have to tag along, annoying adult. He doubt they would find anything, if she kept this up that was. He wondered how adults could be so loud yet still be able to hunt properly. "Fine," he muttered.
