Name: Bethusila
Nicknames: Betty, Bets, Beth
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Faction/Race Gorgon - Monster
Personality: Betty is quite possibly one of the most socially awkward monsters one might ever have the displeasure of meeting. Having chosen to grow up with books instead of friends, Bethusila lacks the ability to make and keep close companions - at least, she thinks she does. Her speech impediment (thanks to her forked tongue) keeps her s's sticking and her d's and t's frustrating, therefore resulting in the Gorgon choosing silence over chatter. Very soft-spoken, she tends to keep her nose in her book rather than in other monsters' businesses. The only time one will hear Miss Bethusila is either during a sisterly spat or after she's found herself carried away by the topic at hand. On occasion, she's proven herself to have a very passionate disposition and can defend her beliefs strongly...that is, until she realizes all eyes have fallen on her, forcing her back into her awkward figurative shell.
An educational know-it-all, Betty is quick and eager to complete any and all classwork and homework assignments. She'd much rather work on an extra credit project than socialize at a student function. Despite her self-consciousness over her speech impediment, she's always the first to raise her hand with an answer (she's just careful not to use any words that might require ssssome sss's!).
Out and about, you'll rarely find yourself looking eye to eye with the tall Gorgon. Well, not unless you find yourself getting run into! Bethusila tends to avoid eye contact at all costs, which in turn makes her one clumsy individual. She's either looking down or at a book, causing frequent collisions, either with locker doors, other students or staircases.
Very self-conscious, Betty has a secret (supressed) desire to have gaggles of friends like the fearleaders do. She hardly believes she has the appearance or personality of one of the more 'popular' girls, so tends to avoid dressing up, less she's toying with frills and makeup behind closed doors. She'd love to be pretty...but that's just not going to happen, she's certain, so why be anything but realistic?
Why are they enrolled in Amityville Academy? Betty is a sponge when it comes to education. Style is cyclical, sports are for jerks jocks - education is what's going to matter in the end. If her desire for learning wasn't enough... well, her parents' insistence of family tradition has sealed her fate as a student of Amityville Academy.
Natural Ability: Like all of her ancestors before her, Betty's relatives passed down the ability of Paralyzing Stare. If one was to make direct eye contact with her, they would find themselves momentarily paralyzed until eye contact was broken off. Knowing this, Betty prefers to keep her reading glasses on as frequently as possible, the lenses blocking direct contact between her and everyone else.
FEAR: Her FEAR is the ability to temporarily paralyze her opponent by turning EITHER their hands (wrist to finger) or their feet (ankles down) into stone by use of her stare. Can be considered more or less an extension of her Natural Ability. Effects begin to fade relatively quickly, but the oppontent's hands (or feet) remain stone long enough to allow for an escape.
Physical Description: She's the tallest of her sisters and by no means the prettiest. Neither thin nor fat, the best word to describe Bethusila's size is average. Which suits her quite fine, thank you very much!
Eye Colour: Glowy gold.
Hair Colour/Style: Green snakes. Lots of snakes. Usually in whatever style they want to pose in or (if the Fates allow) whatever pose Betty convinces them to stay put in.
Skin Colour: Green.
Clothing Style/Colours: Typically dresses conservatively, save for when she's alone in her room (go go dress up!). Toes are always covered, snakes are always... well, there's no use trying to tame the snakes, sadly... and she usually wears simple jewelry, all of which is mostly gold in color. Loves all things white, green and gold. Sometimes black.
Extra: Forked tongue, pointy ears.
