It had taken a considerable amount of time for Anoki to grow accustomed to his taller body and so it had taken him a while to practice transforming at this stage. Two forms he had grown somewhat comfortable with, though the female one was by far his favorite. There was just something about the way the hips swayed and how delicate he felt as a female compared to the way he felt as his usual androgynous self. Although the Mew had taken to identifying himself as male, because that was what he was surrounded with, the female Ninetails he could become gave him a whole new perspective on things like identity and gender. In fact, though he was loathe to admit it to himself, the ability to transform had caused him to grow confused about exactly who Anoki was. Was he a he as he had always identified himself, though he knew himself to be lacking certain manly parts that fulfilled that identification, or was he neither, able to become both through transforming?
Sure, if anyone pointedly asked what he was he would happily tell them that he was both and yet neither, a deceptively honest answer. But now that things were getting down to it - just what was Anoki, aside from the friendly Mew he had always been?
In an attempt to answer these questions the young Mew had floated himself out into the forest and practiced walking around in his transformations. Speaking and acting, trying to perfect the personalities that would suit the bodies he could become. The poochyena was gruffer, but not mean. He still loved to make friends, even if he wasn't as easily excited about things as the Mew was. And the Ninetails...she seemed stubborn and quite opinionated. Still too, though, he knew that she would crave friendship because the person who was playing her did.
With the sun high over the trees Anoki walked through the forest as Andy, the Poochyena and debated over life and reality. Craving both friendship and better knowledge of exactly who he was, that he might feel more fulfilled. So far he had been happiest as a child, playing with Caellum and giving him a flower crown. The lesson he had learned with Deimos and the flower dying from his touch had stuck with him, and the fact that despite his best intentions the Charizard was still stand-offish with him left him feeling like his own childish behavior was not, perhaps, the best anymore.
Pausing momentarily to look at a tree that had grown tall and strong, he asked it quietly, in his musical voice that walked the thin line between masculine and not, "Should I grow up as you did, Mister Tree?" Even though Anoki knew the tree could not answer, he paused there, ears twitching back and forth as he listened to the sounds of the birds chirping their song. A song he now craved to try to mimic, feeling that the voice of the Poochyena might sound better than the Mew's even though he'd never really dared give it a try.
