Name:Caterina Heart
Nickname:Rin, "Special Agent Rin" (by her daddy only! Though now that she is getting older, she doesn't like being called that so much...)

Age: 12

Birthday: September 18

Sign: Virgo

Gemstone: Azurite-Malchite

Blood Type: AB+

Fav. Food: Pastries, finger-sandwiches, and tea.

Hated Food: Cooked vegetables. Raw is fine, but once they're cooked they are just plain nasty!

School: Knightside Elementary School

Hobbies:
Collecting Dolls - Caterina loves to collect porcelain dolls. Her room has a shelf in the corner with all sorts of pretty dolls, mostly from yard sales or Goodwill. Her affinity for dolls began at five years old. She was always the typical girly-girl. Her grandma one Christmas gave her a precious porcelain doll named "Lottie." It remains her favorite doll, and the one she used to take with her everywhere. She stopped doing so when she was in fourth grade because kids started to tease her and call her a baby. Now a days her dolls she lets stay on her shelf but Lottie and a select few others often get pulled into her games of 'Investigator' and sleuthing when she's trying to set something up or figure something out. the visualization helps, she says..
She kinda misses they days when she was young enough that playing teaparty with them was acceptable though... Like I said though, she is growing up, and realizes that soon the fun and games will come to an end, and she'll have to start acting her age. After all! She is a pre-teen!

Playing Investigator - Her father is a special investigator with Destiny City police, and Caterina idolizes him. Everything she has learned about investigating has been from books, and she'd often stage mysteries with her dolls, and 'investigates the crime.' Her father encourages this(not wanting his daughter to grow up so quick), though with the current trouble brewing in DC, he's not so sure he wants her to follow in his footsteps. Rin is determined, however, to become a first class investigator. It probably doesn't help that aside from the Nancy Drew novels, her brother let her watch DeathNote with him before he moved away.(Way to totally WARP your little sister, bro!)

Reading - Caterina learned to read from a very young age(think those easy books in the kids isle at Walmart before kindergarten). Her interest in reading came from her dad reading Nancy Drew books to her at bed time. Now she can read them all by herself! She does so frequently, and even re-reads them. She also has a few of the old Boxcar Boy's mysteries, but she doesn't like them as much.

Arguing with the TV - you know those stupid commercials you just want to throw something and yell at? Those shows where the characters are behaving so stupidly you want to shake them? Well, Caterina both loves and hates arguing with them. Yelling and shouting at these stupidities, muttering and working herself in to a rant. Some might say it is because they don't argue back, and she can feel like she was right. Ah, reality shows - giving a poor child a superiority complex...

Virtues:

Mystery Machine/Analytical - Rin is very analytical, and questions everything until she can come up with a proper and feasible conclusion. Of course, there are a lot of things that are 'feasible' to a girl of her age. She asks a lot of questions, and really wants to make sure she really, really understands something before she'll move on to something else. She strives to be a detective just like her daddy, and so has lent most of her time learning how to analyze things, and draw conclusions. She is, however, a bit nosy and can make herself a nuisance at times. She doesn't realize yet that there are some things you just aren't supposed to ask, and things kids her age shouldn't know. However, this also lends to her being pretty good at school. Science being one of her best subjects, second to English.

Imaginative - Rin has a very healthy imagination, even if it does edge a little on the creepy side at times. Now, we're not talking unicorns and elves imagination - we're talking the REAL reason why she stole the cookie from the cookie jar. Because just 'cause bubba said no and I wanted it anyway so I got it' isn't good enough. No. 'I haven't had anything to eat since dinner last night and a giant 800lbs bully named Rock-o who has a rainbow mohawk and one eye stole my lunch money and THEN I got home and bubba told me no' sounds so much better. Not that she would actually steal from the cookie jar, and then lie about it. But man could her English teacher tell you a thing or two about her 'imagination.' This imagination helps her come up with unique ways to handle situations, and helps her to be a little Mystery Machine.

Gonna see it through till the end! - Caterina is persistent, resilient, and determined. When there is a task at hand, she isn't one to get distracted and drop it for something else. Once she starts something she makes sure to finish it. Even school projects that she isn't necessarily fond of, but knows she has to do anyway. And once she's done something, she stands by it with her head held high. Even if her papermache project looks like crap. However, this virtue has it's dark side, in that she wants to succeed no matter the cost. So while she can be relied upon to get something done, you don't want to be in her way while she is doing so!

Independent - Caterina's Father is divorced, and so it is only him and her at home. Being an investigator, Mr.Heart works long hours, and try as he might to be a good parent, there are times when he falls behind. This had lead Caterina to be a rather independent girl. She gets up in the morning and makes her own breakfast, and sometimes his, too, she makes her own lunch, and walks herself to school. When she gets home, she does her homework all by herself, then usually depends on a TV dinner for supper. Back before her brother moved away for college, she got home-cooked meals, but now he is gone, so she has to be even more self sufficient. She tries to use the stove sometimes, but doesn't seem to have any talent for cooking. For all this though, she has grown up pretty quick, and learned to fends for herself pretty much.

Flaws:
Driven to succeed. No matter the cost. - Once Caterina starts something, she is going to see it through until the end! And how dare you try and stop her! When this girl is on a mission, she is like a bulldozer, and thinks she is ten feet tall! Figuratively speaking, of course. So while she can be counted on to get something done, you have to watch out that you don't get in her way, or you're likely to be trampled. She's not above throwing friends under the bus to get what she wants, and she probably won't feel a bit bad about it! After all, you shouldn't have been in her way!

I'm Right and You're Wrong! - And there's nothing you can do about it! Rin can be rather full of herself. After all, she's so smart, nothing she says could possibly be wrong! Right? If you try and correct her when she is absolutely positive she is right, you're going to have one angry little girl on your hands. She'll pout, and probably hate you for the rest of the day. Now what does this say if you are a teacher? Well, it depends on if she knows anything about the subject or not. She's not past putting up an argument with the teacher. This has gotten her sent to the principal's office many times.

Vindictive - If you mess with her, she will get back at you. In some way or form. Even if it is three years later. And she will do it in the meanest way she can think of. She is a smart cookie - she can think of a lot of ways. And it will only get worse as she gets older... Things like taking something she secretly, or not so secretly, really wanted, proving her wrong, especially in front of people, etc is likely to put you on her payback list.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Large, round, pale blue

Hair: Desaturated medium to dark brown, mid-back length and layered, often worn in two low braids. A lot like this.

Face: Round and a little mischeivious.

Clothes: Caterina used to like to wear pretty dresses like her dolls, but now that she has gotten older, she has decided it's time to find something a bit more age-appropriate! She likes to wear jeans, pretty shirts, and maybe a something crocheted! Her Grandma is good at crochet, so Rin has a lot of those!

Attacks:

Sailor Scout Attack: MakeMake Porcelain Touch!
After calling out her attack, Chibi MakeMake then touches an inanimate object(doesn't work on living things), USUALLY your weapon if she can (which is actually a really low chance, considering who the hell wants to get close enough to a weapon or is dumb enough to give someone a chance to? And considering the chance of her getting close enough to it and not getting the tar beaten out of her with it in time to actually do the attack? yeeaaaah, not likely) and it will become rather fragile, and you have to be careful not to break it until the attack wears off. Lasts for under a minute(~30 seconds or less). Encompasses an item of up to five inches from the diameter of her hand. Typically if the weapon has tiny, little, or thin, parts like embellishments or chains, those bits are more likely to break.
If the weapon is dismissed and then re-summoned, the attack's effect goes away. Used once per battle.

Super Scout Attack: MakeMake Porcelain Grip!
Same basic premise as the first attack, only it lasts for an entire minute unless the weapon is dismissed, and covers a one foot diameter from her hand. The weakness of the attack is the same, since she has to actually touch the weapon/object. Used once per battle.

Eternal Scout Attack: MakeMake Porcelain Doll!
A play on the hardness of porcelain, as opposed to the fragility from the previous attacks, Chibi Makemake clasps her hands together in front of her, calls out her attack which becomes like a shield, hardening the air around her (one inch thick). MakeMake is unable to move for the duration of the attack. As attacks are made against that shield the hardened air, which looks like plain porcelain encasing her, begins to crack. A General's attack can break the shield in a single blow, where as a captain's would take a few more blows, and a lieutenant even more. Once the shield is gone, it's gone, and Chibi Makemake is left exhausted, unable to conjure any more attacks for the rest of the battle. That said, this attack can only be used once per battle, and generally in desperation, such as waiting for backup or something.

I totally understand where you're going with using porcelain, since it's typically associated with fragile things. But in reality, porcelain is very durable and strong, and has been known to be able to easily break glass because it's higher on the hardness scale than glass.

I love the idea of a Senshi of Porcelain, though. Maybe instead of focusing on it being fragile, you could focus on its strength?

Totally stole this from Wiki 'cause I can't think of how to reword it. DX
Properties associated with porcelain include low permeability and elasticity; considerable strength, hardness, glassiness, brittleness, whiteness, translucence, and resonance; and a high resistance to chemical attack and thermal shock.

Uh, so yeah, the only thing that really jumped out to me about her profile was the "fragile as porcelain" part... XD;;; WHICH it IS brittle, but also hard? Er... I'm confusing myself now. But I think she's precious! <33

The way I read it her attack does sort of make sense though under the brittle aspect. Just because the weapon is harder than glass doesn't mean it doesn't need to be handled with a bit more care, especially thinner weapons.

Mythbusters showed us that a whole bottle is surprisingly hard to break, but part of that's the way the bottle is shaped. Something like my quest characters Jacks, a staff or a blade seem like they'd be far more likely to break, unless you're leaning toward something like ceramic weaponry.

Although if it literally turns things into ceramic, at least temporarily, ((which could be interesting)) this would also have an interesting effect when it came down to electrical attacks, or even Polaris' magnetic attacks.

Seems like, taking the hardness and brittleness into account, the porcelain attack could be a fascinating attack to see in action.

As someone who has collected and broken many a porcelain figure in her time (since actually age 7) I can testify it isn't as strong as you would think. D; *has many of her figurines still glued together.*

And considering she is a chibi senshi, and we're only working with her first, regular senshi stage attack, it makes sense to start with the more fragile aspect of porcelain, and gradually working up to its stronger qualities.

Hiyas Yuna,

Rin comes across as really cute, I was really happy to see that she reads Nancy Drew as her 'Playing Investigator' hobby immediately made me think Nancy Drew xd

Slight spelling error on hated food, should be vegetables

Under the 'Collecting Dolls' & 'Reading' hobbies, the use of 'as a young girl' and 'a very young age' respectively came across as a little odd to me as she's only 8. How young? To my 7 year godchild, a very young age would probably be all of 5 xd Maybe just listing the actual age in both cases would be better

For Rin's 'Playing Investigator' hobby, I can kind of picture her with a little magnifying glass conducting 'interviews' with her dolls as witnesses. I love how this hobby reads.

The virtues and flaws read fine to me.

Senshi attack works for me too, I think the strength of porcelin depends on the type/ grade so the porcelin used to make dolls would be a lot more fragile than the porcelin used in say bathroom tiles. Maybe this is something that can be worked into future attacks?
Edit: just noticed that this is something that you're thinking of doing anyway

Hope this helps a little, will read through your Nega Cat profile at some point and try to leave crit there too smile

Oh wow, that's an awesome thing to collect! I was actually really excited to see that she collects dolls. I've never had a porcelain doll, so it's no wonder why I wouldn't know. XD;
BUT my mom collects the Madame Alexander dolls, so I was totally drawn to her hobbies. And I've always loved Nancy Drew books.

Yes then that makes perfect sense to start off where you did. I was just concerned about her other attacks also being about the brittle aspects of porcelain.

I love her Vindictive flaw, but I'm curious about her Loner flaw. Did something happen to make her want to be a loner? Her virtues make her sound like someone who is generally optimistic and confident in herself, so it seems like there is something being left out about wanting to just be with her dolls.

And I just want to say that I absolutely love the colors you picked for her. It's perfect!

Her being ostracized is kinda from her know it all attitude and pure determination that she is right in all matters in which she feels she is right. XD No one like that kind of person. That and she's not above throwing friends under the bus, so to speak, when working towards a goal.

HMM. Rin has me thinking really hard. Going over her, nothing is really jumping out at me on what might need improving. Her hobbies are awesome and I like her virtue and flaw set. I especially like the Nancy Drew bits, SO cute.

I think the only things I can think to say are that her virtues can easily all be flaws (which isn't a bad thing). Like mystery machine could easily have a matching flaw of nosy, poking her nose into things where it doesn't belong and getting to trouble (like those darn meddling scooby doo kids!). Can the analytical trait be applied to school work well, or does she have high reading comprehension (I'm betting yes)?

Also, I wonder how far her imagination/curiosity-mystery solving goes in terms of getting into trouble? Does she follow people around and spy on them? Is she a bit suspicious of people she doesn't know or "strange-acting" people? Does she know when to stop digging into an issue/mystery or is she persistent, and won't give up until she solves the 'crime' or makes up a solution?

Imo her loner flaw reads out as if she's younger than she actually is - since you write she's slowly falling out of playing with her dolls. I'd word it that she doesn't need friends since she has her books instead ? And who has time for friends when there are mysteries to solve, after all !

Just something that worries me even though I'm glad to see that the attacks are limited to the inanimate and not to the person using the weapon. - But the duration of her attacks really made me pause.

I realize that they aren't as powerful as a full Senshi but I think the average battle is expected to last no more than 5 minutes, so her 'super' attack would take up the whole battle.

I'd also add a number of times per battle/day that she can use these attacks, very useful for some of the big meta battles <3

So I was looking over your attacks. And I noticed you said "once per every 10 ic minutes in a battle". Honestly Yuna I think that would more than kill a chibi if you use the attack like that in a meta battle. I realize it's not a very strong attack nor does it last long, but you have to remember this is a child, they're weaker than normal senshi. Normal senshi start to fade after using two attacks and most seem to have a recharge time of at least 20 ic minutes if not 30.

I would honestly be worried that this attack is too OP for a chibi, you mention the weapon could be dismissed but chibis have a very high fail rate. Hug-bell's bear has a high fail rate in a few cases, the person she's hoping to catch possibly won't land/hit the bear or the wrong person will hit the bear and he shrink, plus he only covers a certain amount of an area. So Even if hug-bell tried to place it right, there's still a chance the person(s) could miss and not land on the bear at all.

There's really no way for for these powers to fail, just oh hey dismiss and summon your weapon isn't a backfire or a fail unfortunately. I feel like she should either be an adult senshi or maybe find a way to make her powers fail. Like allow for the attack to actually not work like Chibimoon's does a good portion of the time. Like Chibimoon's attack might work one out of every five rp's she does (random example with random numbers) unless she's really pissed off at someone, then the attack doesn't normally fire. You may want to heavily consider this for Chibi MakeMake.

I just ask that you remove the subset to her Mystery Machine virtue or add it as a personality quirk elsewhere in her journal. Virtues can't have subsets like that, and since it was in tiny font I'm assuming that you didn't want it appraised as part of the profile -- so the stamp is for all the traits in normal-size font.

I'd also move the tiny-font notes in full size to the end of her Sailor Scout attack, or at least drop the small size tags on them -- the fact her attack doesn't work on living things is pretty important to know! Players shouldn't have to squint to read details like that. XD

Otherwise, lovely work!
