Bakudo: 26 and 39

Maikeru sat up high on a branch in a tree at the edge of a large clearing in the dense woodland. The pine trees could be seen for leagues around stretching off into the distance releasing their powerfeul fragrance into the light breeze. He had applied to complete his training and the next morning a message had been waiting for him instructing him as to the location and time of the training session. He looked up from his book for a moment checking his surroundings for anyone other than the few birds occupying the trees nearby and turned back to his book...Daggny continued walking down the street, his shadow stretching out behind him as he continued on his way....

Nearby was a simple wooden shed with anything that could be desired for training in the demon arts, nearby stood several straw dummy targets set at varying distances from the building.

"I completely forgot we had this." Yamoto was examining the shed that was filled with kido training gear. "To bad i don't need any of it for this session." The captain closed the door to the shed and walked to the other to see Maikeru in a tree. "Ah there you are now we can get started." Yamoto smiled as he walked into the middle of the training area and focused his eyes on the boy in the tree. "If you would like to come down you may, but if you are content on staying up there that is fine as well." The captain let out a little chuckle as he himself was an avid fan of sitting up in tree. Of course he never got to now a days, because he was either doing paper work or training shinigami. "A the days of freedom and relaxation how they are missed."

Maikeru looked up blinking to quicken the adjustment of his eyes to the brighter light of the sun, rather than that reflected from the pages of his book. A look of confusion crossed his face for a moment before he completely took in the appearance of his trainer. He was intimidating to say the least. Of course, this tended to be true of everyone wearing a Captain's haori, he still didn't know exactly what they were for.

He hopped down from the tree tucking his book under his arm as he fell lightly through the air, the passing currents rustling his clothing before he settled to the ground almost silently, as if he hadn't just dropped over fifteen feet from the ground.

"Soooooo...What do I call you? Captain? Taicho? Awesome-buddy-new-pal? Pleased to meet you, I'm Maikeru. Resident thief, troublemaker, and jester of Squad Ten. I took the last two when Zaine transferred." He smiled a crooked smile that was meant to be slightly disarming and charming, but as usual, just turned out as mischievious.

"How do we do this then?"

"You can call me whatever you want." Yamoto smiled as he watched the young shinigami. "You said you were a thief well then you are going to love this spell."

"This kido is for the sole purpose of hiding or stealth. It is activated by forming a film of reiatsu around your body almost making a second layer of skin. As you know reiatsu has the power to manipulate natural entities. We normally see this when the ground breaks under us by an extreme build up of reiatsu. This kido uses natural light to make one completely invisible."

Yamoto breathed in and closed his eyes. "The amount of reiatsu is key in this spell because not only does this spell hide you physically, but it also hides your spiritual pressure. If you have to much reiatsu in the second skin you do get the second effect of the spell and stronger foes will know you are in the area. If that happens being physical invisible is useless." The captain began to emit reiatsu almost out of every pore. Yamoto was soon encased in a small film of reiatsu that covered the shinigami entire body. The captain smiled as he could fell the light from the sun being pulled towards by the reiatsu around him. "Bakudo 26. Curved Light." Yamoto completely disappeared from the area for a good 10 seconds. He reappeared behind his vice captain with his fingers to Maikeru's neck. "You see why the spell is now effective. I could of struck you right there if I had wanted to."

"Ah Sweet! Hmmm lets see.... I shall call you Pug, after the greatest magician ever revealed in the books written by Raymond E Feist!" He paused for a bit listening to Yamato and glancing around as he vanished trying to find the man. When he reappeared with his fingers on the back of his neck he spoke, "Nah, I think I'll stick with Captain, for some reason Pug makes me think of a dog."

He took a few steps away from his teacher and closed his eyes, focusing on the reservoir of reiatsu inside him. Slowly he opened the channels letting it leak out of him slowly. But there he held it, instead of allowing it to fall off or fire off into the sky he held the energy right at the surface of his skin, covering him in an itchy film of energy waiting to be utilized. "Bakudo Number 26, Kyokko." He shimmered for a moment as the energy took on it's new task of rendering him invisible and undetectable. Then he was gone, not even the keenest of eyes or reiatsu sense could find him now.

He smiled under his veil of invisibilty and made several ridiculous faces at his teacher confidant in his ability to remain unseen. Having had his fun he released his concentration and drew the remnants of the reiatsu back into his body.

"OH HELLZ YES!! This is going to flipping awesome! So many uses! So many people! So many pranks!" His face full of malicious glee he rubbed his palms together in anticipation. After a few moments he remembered he was not alone and arubtly composed himself before resuming in a serious tone, "But ah, yeah...Good spell...very useful. I shall use it with the utmost," He coughed loudly, "err responsibility."

Yamoto smiled, as he threw up his right hand. "We will continue with Bakudo 39. The key to this kido is concentrating reiatsu infront of of your body in the form of a cirlce." Yamoto smiled as a wall of reiatsu erupted infront of him. "I have to overdue it so you can see how to form the reiatsu." Yamoto slowly formed the the erupting reiatsu into a lagre circular shape the covered his body from head to toe. "Bakudo 39. Arc Shield" The reiastu condensed into a solid barrier that was visible . "It is very easy to do if you have good reiatsu control."

Maikeru's face instantly zoned into the technique, his senses attuned to Yamoto's movements and manipulations. His reiatsu senses picked up the forming of the circle a few moments before it became physically visible. A few seconds later it was a perfectly formed shield, perfectly fit for deflecting attacks of all kinds, given they weren't of world-ending degree.

Maikeru began concentrating, bringing the reiatsu that had been housing itself in every inch of his skin rushing into his arm, his hand, his fingertips. He began mumbling to himself, and with a barely audible, "There!" It blossomed out quick as a shot into the shape of a growing circle, still attached to his hand by errant strands of reiatsu, appearing as almost a mushroom. A few moments later the strands withdrew and he spoke once more, but, with more strength and feeling, "Bakudo Number 39, Arc Shield!" With almost a palpable snap they reiatsu thickened and hardened, becoming extremely hard, visible, and quite solid.

He looked at it with a slightly quizzical expression, "How strong is this thing anyway? I mean, how much can it stop?"

"It will dispel one attack no matter what it is." Yamoto smiled as he waked over to a tree as sat down in the shade. "Now I believe that was it, but If you have one more I would be will to train you some more."

"Sweeeeeeet!" He smiled exultantly, he was never one to really fight with Kido, but the shield would be of great use when combatting those who used such abilities. Maikeru took off into the trees back to his own Squad, "THANKS TAICHO!" He called back over his shoulder as he dissapeared into the shadows and leaves.
