A smart man once told him to know where one should go, the beginning was always the best place to start. Although, knowing where that was exactly, wasn't always the easiest to find out. So that was why he was here, standing out in the cold, wind whipping against his slight frame. Large green eyes stared up at the large building, one he hadn't seen since he was very small. However it wasn't as grand and beautiful as it once was, now it was a hollow shell. The life that once filled this grand building was gone, wasted away over time and elements. Gardens had grown wild to the point here even the most experienced gardener would have quite the battle. Even some windows were boarded up, graffiti scrawled in ugly letters littered the side panels of the building.

The Sanctuary. A place that once housed all kinds of different sorts of life, giving them shelter when no one else dared. This was the very place his life started, when was was just a twinkle in his parents eyes. He figured this was the best beginning he would find right now.

Walking up the rickety steps, he traced long slender gray fingers over the old rusty door handle and tugged. When that didn't work, he moved to a window, rubbing the grime off the with the side of his hand. Peering inside, he checked for movement and sighed softly; his breath taking a mist form in the cold air. Walking around the side of the building, he tried a second door and blinked when it pulled open quite easily. He faintly wondered if maybe there were others here, or at least someone tending to the home.

This whole idea was squashed when he stepped inside, seeing dust and cobwebs had made themselves at home . The young teen couldn't help but feel as though he had just walked into a haunted house, his eyes darting around as if waiting for a monster to pop out. Closing the door softly behind himself, he pulled his hood off his head, his soft white hair standing out in the darkness. Eli held his breath and took a few uncertain steps further into the building, feeling anything but at ease. His fluffy black tail twitched every so often as he dug his flashlight out of his pocket. Flicking it on, he started his journey into the seemingly abandoned Sanctuary.

A wolf's ear flicked as he was upstairs in the abandoned sactuary. He'd pried open a window to let some light into the room he was in. He'd already looked around the rest of the very obviously abandoned sanctuary and he could only help but give a small sigh, as he leaned a little out of the window, looking over what appeared to used to be a garden.

Ambrose canted his head to the side; maybe he could use it? He'd never actually been here, but the rest of the residents he lived with always seemed to talk about how magnificent this place had been when it was up and running. It depressed him a little at the fact he couldn't and probably wouldn't ever see it the way it used to be. He could only imagine what it would be like. He closed his eyes as he imagined the palce up and running, with voices in the halls and downstairs, warm and comfy...

Opening his eyes again at a chill from a breeze, he tugged his coat a little closer to himself. Ambose gave a shiver as his ears flicked again, thinking he may have heard something outside, then downstairs. No way. No one had probably been here forever, but if he got caught in here would he be in trouble? He hadn't thought about someone still being here as it appeared to be so run down and abandoned.

Ears settling back he moved to close the window again, giving a mutter as he struggled with it. He should leave. It was probably trespassing.

Floor boards creaked softly under his boots, his pace pausing upon the sound of creaking above. He tilted his head back to look up, seeing dust fall from the ceiling. Was..... he not alone in here? The building looked devoid of all life, as if none had trespassed in years. Shrugging it off as his imagination toying with him, he continued into what seemed to look like a common room. He had heard stories from his parents how they had met here and such, but seeing it all first hand was quite interesting. Though he supposed it all lacked some luster since everything was dust covered and empty.

Walking further in, he rubbed some dust off picture frames and smiled fondly at how happy some of the others looked. This had once been a place of joy and family. He wished he could have seen it now. His thoughts paused once again at the sound of movement on the upper floors. His ears swiveled and twitched, on high alert. Now he really began to worry. Flicking his flashlight towards the stairwell, he walked towards it as quietly as he could. He did his best as to not make the floor boards sound but that was pretty impossible.

A first instinct was to call up and see if anyone answered. However, having been forced to watch many horror films by his other brothers, he knew this wasn't a wise choice. That would give away his position to someone who could very well be dangerous. The best plan was to as quietly as he could venture upstairs to investigate. Even though he knew that wasn't a wise idea either, as horror films told one to never stick your nose where it could get removed from your face.

Holding his breath a little, he headed up t he stairwell carefully.

Ambrose had started to the door, trying to tred as lightly as possible, considering he was on the second floor meaning his footsteps would travel no matter how he walked. He winced lightly as his footsteps caused a particularly loud squeak. Pausing his ears perked listening for any noise, holding his breath in the process. Had he just been hearing things? Old places tended to squeak in general...

Nope. No, he had not been hearing thing. His ears caught a noise, though it sounded closer, like from the stairs. He frowned a little taking the last step to the door, opening it as silently as possible, just enough to peek out down the hall. He could just stay in this room and hide until whoever it was left. Ambrose had never learned the lessons that the other was thinking about.

Ears settling back the wolf took a step out, giving a small, "Hello...?"

Upon hearing the soft hello, Eli froze right in his tracks, his eyes widening. He'd been heard! Was this person or... or creature going to come down and gobble him up?

Swallowing roughly, he ventured up the stairs and paused on the first landing. The hello had echoed, perhaps did that mean this person or whatever it was , was on the top floor? Heading up towards the top floor, the beam from his flashlight bounced off mirrors and the windows, casting strange shadows as he went.

"W-Who is up here?" Eli called shakily, regretting right away that he had spoken.

Ambrose's ears perked not hearing a reply for some time, curious if he'd scared whoever it was off. Apparently he wasn't in trouble other wise he'd have been yelled at and been scared off.

The wolf peeked farther out of the room and then tooka couple steps out of it, catching sight of what looked like a light. At hearing the reply he took a couple more steps in the direction of the noise, more cuious than terrified. "My.... name is Ambrose. Who are you?"

Reaching the top step of the second floor, Eli peeked around the railing as he crouched down a little. The teen was still a little nervous and afraid as it wasn't often he was out on his own.

"M-My names Eli......." he said softly, flashing his light int he direction of t he voice.

"What are you doing here?' He asked softly.

Ambrose was a little more confident as he moved into view standing in the light as it was flashed at him. He gave a small smile and covered his eyes with a hand not really able to make out the body behind the flashlight.

"Nice to meet you Eli." he murred a little, tail flicking, "I.... was just exploring a little." He didnt really feel like he needed to explain the WHOLE story and what not. "What about yourself?"

Eli lowered the flashlight very slowly so his small figure could be seen better. "Exploring? That's..... kinda why I'm here too.... My parents used to live here" He said softly, very slowly walking a tad closer to the wolf. "its nice to meet you too though" he said softly, but remained at some of a distance.

Ambrose finally started to make out the small frame and gave a smile. His ears perked at hearing his parents had lived here. "Oh? Really? Who are your parents?" Not that he would know. "Did... they tell you what happened here?" He meant how dead it was and abandoned. If people had lived here why did they leave? The wolf was being friendly, and hoped he didnt scare the boy. Though Ambrose wasn't really very scary looking with all his colors.

Shifting where he stood, he wiped his sweaty hand on his yellow dress and looked at him gently. "Remi the Skunk and Sandalon... he's a cat... I have three other brothers...." He said softly, his ears flicking a little. He didn't feel threatened at all by the wolf, so he walked a little closer. "No.... they moved out on their own together when my mum was pregnant with my brothers and I..... My Father doesn't talk much about here...." He said softly, "He said they met here .... and I wanted to see it for myself..." He smiled a little. "Do you know what happened? "

"Hm... Don't know them." Then again Ambrose really hadn't met anyone. He frowned a little at that thought. His ears perked and he smiled at the boy at the idea of this being a meeting place for true love. "Aw, that's cute. I'm sure it was a wonderful place to meet other hybrids." The wolf's tail flicked at the question and he frowned again with a small sigh, "Unfortunately, no... From what I can gather though, is just that everyone left and no one came back." His ears drooped.
