 Meramo had prowled the rogue lands near and far in his lifetime, always at a distance from the other creatures he encountered. He was solitary by inclination, having no family to speak of, and had never really tried to approach others, preferring instead to watch.
He watched cubs play, and juveniles flirt. He saw adults bring cubs into the world and watched them as they raised their children. He watched them grow old and die.
But he couldn't really say that he understood them. Thus the green-maned lion had decided that the time had come at last to try interacting with another person to see how this life cycle worked.
He spied a likely looking lioness not too far from where he sat and mused and began to make his way over towards her.

 Arii has always been a rouge her whole life and that wasn't ever going to change. she also never really been around others much since she tended to avoid any social places. though she was slowly learning that being social wasn't too bad but that was thanks to her good dear friend Zeru. it wasn't long til she spotted a male coming to her. giving her head a tilt, she decided she would try atlest make friends since it seemed he was friendly since he was coming over to her. she loved making friends and had yet to have a bad experience when it came to trying to make friends. she was a bit too trusting though but it had yet to fail her at all.

The red lioness seemed to have noticed him and then was waiting for him as Meramo came up to her. He stopped about one length away, since that seemed to be the normal distance he had observed between two lions who knew little or nothing of each other.
Having gotten that far, the black lion sat down and tilted his head back at the lioness. He didn't see what titling one's head did for their perception - it was harder to see things on a normal orientation that way - but he would try anything once.
Even so...he wasn't entirely certain what to do now.

Arii was baffled by him stopping and even tilting his head like she had. well this defiantly was something she had yet to have happen when meeting someone. frowning a bit, she was trying to figure out what to do since she was socially awkward. "do you always just sit and stare when coming up to someone?" it was all she could think to say but now she felt she was being rude. ".......not that i want to be rude." she would hate to be horribly rude and annoying but she was so baffled by him she kinda blurted out her words which she wish she hadn't.

Meramo had been getting a bit nervous, wondering if he'd done something wrong, when the lioness spoke. He'd heard people talking before, and he understood what they were saying, and he'd even experimented with it himself. But he'd never really talked to anybody.
He sat and stared some more as he worked out how to best respond to the lioness...since he didn't think she could read his mind. Speech seemed to be the best way utilized by the others he'd observed to communicate with each other, so he would have to try.
"I have never done this before." The words were flat, spoken with no emotion and little inflection.

Arii was shocked when he spoke with no emotion and said he had never chatted with anyone. " really? i knew i was anti social but.....i have atlest talked with others before." it was weird for her to meet someone that never talked to others and could talk with no emotion. "i'm Ariikdasa but you can call me Arii for short if you want." curling her tail around herself as she sat down, she couldnt help but tilt her head again at him in curiosity. "what is your name?" she found him very odd but it wasn't like she hated it. though she was having a hard time trying to hold a conversation with him so far but that couldn't be helped.

The black lion blinked as the floodgates opened and words poured out of the lioness' mouth almost without end, like a mighty river on course for the sea. He wasn't entirely certain how to respond to all of those words. Gratefully, he grasped the question that the red lioness ended her stream of dialogue with.
"I have the name Meramo." And she was tilting her head again. This time he didn't mimic her, as it had upset his equilibrium last time. Did changing the angle of one's head alter the perception of a person? He hadn't noticed any true change when he had tried it, but the movement must do something, else why would Ariikdasa do it so often?

Arii blinked in surprise that he only responded to one of her questions. oh well, atlest she did get to know his name. " its nice to meet you Meramo." giving a small smile, she didn't know what else she could say. with them both not being major talker's she was starting to wonder if they could hold a conversation with each other. but she was also beginning to wonder if it was gonna be hard for her to chat with anyone but her close friend Zeru. ether that or she just flat out sucked at being social with anyone she wasn't close to like her friend.

What in the name of all the gods did she mean by that? 'Nice to meet you' didn't make sense at all given the meanings of those words! Green eyes blinked as Meramo tried to comprehend what the lioness was saying.
"I do not know what you mean," he finally admitted, a tinge of nervousness coloring his voice. "I find it intriguing to meet you," the black lion returned.

Arii now wondered how on earth she was making him nervous. taking in a deep breath to calm her own nerves, she gave another smile to try to show he had no reason to be nervous. " it means i'm happy to meet you." it confused her that he did not understand what she meant when she had said it was nice to meet him. she really was starting to wonder just how anti social this male was. it was starting to make her feel like she had been a social butterfly compared.

"Happy," he repeated the word. He had overheard it many times before, in his observations. It was a strange, fleeting thing, or so it seemed.
"This...is a good thing. So I am led to believe," he replied at last. Yes, the word seemed to have positive connotations, expect when spoken with tones and shades of lies, that was what he had observed. So how was it then, that meeting him would make Arii happy? That, he was unsure of.
Did it have something to do with this strange feeling that grew within him as this meeting went on? He couldn't be sure.

Arii gave a nod to him when she repeated the word happy. " yes it is a good thing. if i was unhappy to meet you then i wouldn't stay here talking." chuckling, she found him kind of silly but he seemed pretty nice. " so Meramo do you often come around this area? she knew she was just a rouge roaming though who wasn't going to stick around long. though the reason she was staying right now was the fact she was having a conversation with Meramo who had went out of his way to come over to her. " i'm just wandering through myself."

Meramo considered the lioness' words. It did seem logical, that she would not stay if she were uninterested, if she were not...happy.
And now more questions. What was she trying to learn from him with these? It made little sense to the serious male. "I am in this place for the first time, but I have been nearby before. I do not care for it any more or any less than other locations," he replied at last. He wasn't sure how to respond to her remark about wandering through and so ignored it.

to Arii she was just trying her best to make conversation with another but she was finding it difficult to keep the conversation going. " i see..." she really didn't want to be rude to him, specially when he took the time to come over to her. " well it has been a pleasure talking with you Meramo." standing up, she gave him a nod before starting to walk away. " maybe i'll see you around another time." though the likely hood of her ever coming across him again was slim to none, she wanted to be nice though. but in all honesty she did feel horrible for leaving kinda suddenly, it was just so hard to try to be the one to hold the conversation for her.

Meramo watched her go. Their conversation was over, and he had the feeling that perhaps not everything had been correct. However the spotted lion could not seem to figure out what exactly he had done wrong.
Oh well. He would have to go and ponder this interaction some more, it seemed.
