A few opening things: 1. The subforums are unlocked. 2. I am the current (temporary) owner of the guild. 3. I'm not interested in this thread devolving into dramatics.
Now, before I even dive into what this thread is really about- I want to clarify something. I am doing this because I am the only active (non-honorary) crew member left. Which means that is the reason why I am currently captain and that's the reason I'm going to run this election. I was elected to the position of VC and so I am now simply doing what is expected of me. I'm not "seizing power" or anything to that effect- I am simply trying to get things running smoothly again.
Now, the actual POINT of this thread is to accomplish the following things: 1. Nominate and elect a new leader. (2nd post) 3. Hammer out some assorted other issues (3rd post)

So, we're having captain nominations. In this post, I'll be keeping track of who has been nominated, and how many times they have been nominated. You can nominate someone by posting in this thread, or sending a private message to the kroo mule by clicking here. I don't think I have the authority to tell you what you want in our guild captain. But, I am going to anyway- Try to nominate people who you think are capable of doing good for the guild, are active, and who have decent people skills. Nominations will run for two weeks, ending on the 5th of November. Nominees not interested in becoming captain should let me know that. (You're smart enough to figure out that you could PM that information to me, the kroo mule, or just post it here.) It should also be noted, that when the captain is eventually elected- they should probably run kroo elections. The nominees: Nymphiedora Insomamnesiac (3) Meru

There have been some other issues with this guild as a whole- and right now is prime time to discuss them. Essentially without a leader we're all on the same level here. Feel free to use this thread not only as a means of nominating your favorite prospect for guild leader- but to discuss your feelings about the guild as it currently is.

While I'm dismayed at the circumstances, I feel that close introspection of this guild has been a long time coming. The activities of the guild have made radical shifts since the system of governing was put into place as best I can tell. And these issues have never really been discussed in a forum of change only in complaint.
Namely the fact that many people have carried casual conversations and banter to third party applications like Skype or MSN. And while the arguments in favor of these applications are valid, it doesn't alter the fact that it may be detrimental to the guilds best interests. However, there is really nothing that I can see to be done about this issue. People will talk as they will and as they should, as friends beyond a forum game. I'd be interested in getting other peoples thoughts on this considering our reflections. : )

I SHALL BE YOUR NEW LEADER AND ALL SHALL BURN WI-
Oh wait, wrong chat.
Nah, I'd be a terrible leader more than likely. I do agree with Gynne though, we need to be more active in the forums as a whole, not leave skype altogether, but be more active in here. On that front, I would be more than willing to help set up a couple of competitions, important issue of the day-type-things and maybe even a few RP's. I love this guild, you guys are the best friends I have online and I'd hate to see it go under.
As for nominations, I think insomnesiac would suit the role in my own personal opinion.

I agree with you guys,we DO need more active members. I myself would NOT be a good leader. But I think Photo would be a good Captin.XD I dont really know what happened with Toastie, and I wont ask. But whatever. I agree with you two on the matter of Skype or MSN.

I'm just going to throw this out now and say that locking the subforums does not help activity in the guild. I'm just going say that this was not an attack on anyone and was just an observation of mine.
My other suggestion for the guld is one i put out a few months ago in the bussiness subforum were we rotate in guild games with in thread games. I still think this might be a good idea that will help bring in more new members more often than just doing an in thread game every 10 games. I can run the in thread game if need be.
And of course the main cause to the guilds decline in activity are really RL stuff and alternative sources of communications. There is really nothing we can do about the RL stuff, and the only thing to be done fr the alternate sources of communications is for those using those sources to also use the guild.

I agree with this. Thread games are the best way to advertise the guild that I can think of. I dont really know how else we can advertise on gaia, banners in signatures dont really do much. If I'm made captain I will definately have more thread games, though probably only every 3rd game instead of every other because a lot of SGers prefer in guild games.

I am absolutely in favor of thread games. I do agree with Nymmie though about perhaps every 3rd game or so. That way, any potential new player that want to stick around can acclimatize to a 'business as usual' guild game. If I ever get off my a** to gm my first game, you can bet it'll be a thread game. ;)

I hereby nominate Insomnomnom. I think she'd be an awesome captain and she has skills in handling tough situations. That, and as far as I know, no one has a bone to pick with her at the moment. owo In response to the issues over Skype... As one of the original people of the Skypechat (the original mind you. Which was way back when and created by Kitty so we could discuss our alliance.) I can only tell you that I, myself, never intended for it to get so huge. As a solution to this problem, we could always start posting chat transcripts in the forums (with editing out of cusses and such) for everyone to discuss. I think this idea should be approved by everyone in the guild before it goes through though, not just the people in the Skype chat itself.

I havent really been here long enough to pick who would be the better leader so I'll leave that up to other people who have. As for the thread games I think its a good idea. Maybe it could be every 5 games though just to people that might join get more experence and the oldies get more in guild games.
