Well, I was sitting here listening to them and wondered if they had a thread in here. Turns out they don't so I'll make one.

Apophis is one of those criminally underrated death metal bands that you encounter now and then. They were formed in 1990, released their debut in 1993, and unfortunately have only put out one record in the past 12 years. Also, they were an Egyptian themed death metal band before Nile, though they don't go to nearly the same lengths to establish that connection. It's almost like they are to Egytian metal what Amon Amarth would be in relation to viking metal... but I digress. Heliopolis (from 199 cool is a good album to start with if you're interested.
