What was the msot interesting rehearsal you've been at? What is the most interesting thing to happen durign a reahearsal?

My most interesting rehearsal was actually last friday. We didn't have school that day, but we ahd an away game. So we met at 3pm so we could properly warm up and get into the swing of thigns.
Well, we get to the school, and it is very warm and onl slightly cloudy. We begin to stretch outside in a cirle. As we start the first stretch, the temperature goes down nearly 20 degrees. Like, the lgiht breeze swiched from a warm breeze to a cold breeze. It quickly got cloudier. All of a sudden, a huge gust of freezing wind came and nearly blew the band away. I mean it was so strong and so unexpected, the entire circle shifted nearly 2 yard lines.
The wind continued like this throughotu our stretching. Fially, we move into concert arcs to warm up. Here it got chaotic.
The tubas couldn't even get tot heir spots. tehy put the tubas on and nearly blew away, and we have 2 larger tuba players tat couldn't even go a yardline i a minute. The smallest tuba, a short and skinny grl, was strugglign to stay on her feet, and had to be caught by oru director because she literally lifted off the ground and started blowing away. Everyone else was tryign to stay at attention at this point, and failing pretty bad. Fianlly, our director tells us to go inside.
Later, as we are packing the truck and laoading the buses, we find it is pouring rain. So much that we nearly had to boat to the buses. And imnot kidding. I suggested tyo our director that we just march onto the field in boats. Rowing in time.
Well, we get to the other school. The rain didn'te ven toch it. And it was warm again. Warm and dusty. It was weird.

Mother Earth is pissed at ya'll for some reason.

Ours would have to be something like that of the sorts. We were warming up when it got cloudy like out of nowhere. Our BD repeats his 'world-famous' words of "It's not going to rain." No more than 3 seconds into rehearsing the show does it start pouring. I mean literally pouring as in I could have put down a tuba and it would have filled up in about 30 seconds.

So we all naturally ran inside, a bunch of people helping the pit move all of their stuff inside. We get inside, dry off, and lo'-and-behold, it stops raining.

'Let's go back outside!'

haha yeah i dnt know why. We actually had soemthign similar to you as well not too long ago. In fact, i think it was earleir this week. We were goign to be doing some music rehearsal outside, but as we started warming up we felt very large raindrops. not many, but they were huge! Then it started pouring, about the same as you. We had just started playing our opener lol.
BD: Woodwinds, run! protect your pads but run! brass, get their water and flipbooks
So you seee this mass of woodwinds charging towards the band hall. and the door was locked.

Whch reminds me of stampede of the band kids, but that was when we had been marching around schol before a peprally and were runnign late, so the entire band ran across school yelling "charge". Let me tell you, not a single person stood in oru way, especially cause we were led by tubas and drumlie.

HAH! We did that at the end of our pep rally last Friday.

The drumline finished a cadence, the trumpets smirked and we all started playing "Charge". We basically bumrushed to the bandhall.

well last year my band directer walks outside sees his truck is gone, comes back inside and throws a water on the podium making a huge dent and tells us to go get his truck. He walks in his office and everyone looks around and starts looking at our trombone player who took his truck before and says to go get his truck then the directer comes out and throws the keys in the same place in the podium points at the and screams "go get my truck". he returns to his office and we hear a loud noise and think he nocked down his tv that the cameras are hooked to and the trombone and the percussion captain after 5 minutes go outside with his keys and see that the truck is not there. They come back in and the directer comes out and asked where it is and they say that it is not out there and he starts hollaring cause he thinks someone stole his truck and his wife walks through the door hears him talking about his truck and says she took it to an apt.

Every year we have a "Switch Day" for one rehearsal, where all the people in charge switch their roles. The section leaders teach marching while the teaching assistants are on ladders conducting, and so on.

The best part is that the student director marches the pregame show in the drum major's place. The last time we had Switch Day I laughed so hard I cried, because the SD was so hilariously bad at strutting and at throwing the baton.

My story is similar to the first two.
Outdoor rehersal, and our field is a good distance from the school. It's mildly cloudy and the forecast doesn't call for rain. So we're outside marching it up when it starts to sprinkle. The director says that it wasn't rain and we kept going. Then, all of the sudden, I heard, "here it comes." The director yells for us to go inside and all you see is a stampede of yelling band kids trying to protect their instruments as the sky pours buckets on us.
My brother, in econ at the time, had a perfect view of the charge. He said it was quite hilarious and his whole class was laughing at us.
BUT THIS STORY ISN'T DONE YET!
We get inside, and since we can't use the kennel (large multipurpose room we use to reherse in), we have to shove everyone in our too small band room. We proceeded to play our show so loudly that it shook the floor of the english department directly above us.

We were rehearsing on a Saturday two years ago and everywhere around our marching field was dark and cloudy except the spot of sky above our field. So as we were rehearsing, my BD yelled at us to better march our sets and then pointed to the sky and said, "Everwhere around us, it's raining. You see? Even God wants you to get this right!"

Two minutes later it literally started pouring on us. God was apparently not pleased by our show. crying

Recently this year we were having another Saturday rehearsal and there was this Bass Clarinet girl that was having trouble finding her set. She was actually taking quite a while to find it too. Our BD who is usually very professional about things was apparently on a short fuse because as the girl was walking to her set he proceeded to say out loud over his microphone, "Dur-dee-dur-dur-dur! Could you be any slower?!"

It was so awkward but so funny! rofl
