"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ The morning came quicker than expected. The calamity that had taken place the night before seemed but a faint dream. Had it even happened? Had anyone really tried to free the man in bondage? It was a mistake to even try such a thing. The burdens of the country had been placed on the man. He carried the anger and hatred of the people around him. His life was forfeit. He would die for his penance.
It was not through concealment that the man was brought out to face judgment. Thrown into an open wagon he was, bound, and already weakened. Tattered clothes replaced the former cloth of leadership's quality. Scraggly green hair normally unseen by a red covering was left free to blow about as the breeze saw fit. The man's eyes remained the same.
Passage was met not by tears, but with shouts from the unruly mob. If tears were shed, they went unnoticed. Cabbages and tomatoes flew threw the sky, many making impact upon their target, the bound man. He made no reaction. This continued repetitively all the way to the platform, where the bound man was then pushed onto stage. He looked out at all who had gathered. It seemed as if all of Eyris was present, all shouting, expressing their hatred. Several faces were familiar. They were the most painful of all. Even the king and several of the nobles were in attendance. A guard gripped the man's shoulder and tugged him over to the center of the platform.
Rath turned slowly and looked his persecutor in the eye. "...Hasty to be rid of me... Lord Sceptan?"

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words. ℜogvald xxxxxRogvald snickered at the remark. "You know too much, savage." he whispered. "You have been a plague to me for long enough. Your allies have been eliminated. After today, a new era will arise in Learania... the darkness shall have its way." At his own remark, the advisor simply simpered.
xxxxxThe old, dagger eyes swayed away from the nomad and faced the crowd. "Dear people of Learania! Today, you shall witness what has been awaited! Today, the most vile traitor of your time shall be put to death!" Rogvald waved his hands to hush the cheering. "Now, now, patience, if you please! Being the merciful one that I am, I shall offer the man but one chance to reveal where Lady Nino's body is and declare loyalty to the new leadership! If he should do this..." He turned and looked at Rath. "then I just may let him live." Rogvald narrowed his eyes and spoke lower, directly to the traitor. "So what shall it be, savage...? Will you bow down to me... or die?"
xxxxxThe advisor awaited an answer, but expected the silence that followed. "Perhaps I can administer some motivation..." Rogvald clapped his hands. "Let us begin. Come forth!" At the call, a burly masked man came onto the platform with a chorus of cheers. A whip was carried loosely in his grasp. A guard seized Rath on each side and held him tightly. As the hulking man took his place, Rogvald proceeded to tear the nomad's shirt from his person, before backing away. His eyes illuminated at the sight of the man's back and caused him to snigger. Rogvald recognized the scarring. "So you have been marked before..." His eyes darted quickly to the executioner. "Do it." Rogvald noted the hesitation in the thickly muscled arm and his eye twitched slightly. "Do It!"
I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ Rath gave no struggle when the soldiers grabbed him and held him in place. He knew he could not escape what was to come. The whip was unleashed and launched like a ballista's missile. Jagged edges ripped into flesh and Rath let out a suitable cry of pain, though he tried to hold everything in, as he had been. Blood began to slide down his back as if attempting to rejoin the blood that had been splattered onto the wood from the lash. There was only a moment of peace before the whip came again, digging into a different part of the fleshy plain and leaving behind a new trail of blood. Rath cried out again and jerked the guards forward a little. They strained in holding their former captain in place. Yet again, the the whip came and again Rath screamed. Two more times it came and went, similar scars left behind.
Eventually, the pain caused the strength in Rath's legs to give way and he fell to his knees, the guards' hold stopping him from falling utterly upon his face. Sight was hazy and breathing was becoming strenuous. When his vision cleared, Rath looked up to see a small child staring back at him. The child did not cheer, and did not appear to fear him. Instead, the child looked on at the former captain with sad eyes. Blood from Rath's back slid around and began to drip onto the floor. The child watched the droplets fall and then looked back at the former captain's eyes. The child's gaze pierced Rath and in that young one, he saw the hope of the future generations of Learania. Somehow, it revitalized Rath and an unknown strength began to come over him. The people of Learania would be forced to endure Rogvald's tyranny, and eventually, far worse. Rath knew he could not stop it. However, Rogvald had played a bad hand. He was not torturing a traitor, but displaying his true colors. Public torture had been outlawed when Leander sat on the throne. When House Raetia took over control and began to act as the House of the Steward, it was reinstated, only to be taken away again when Nino took the throne. Whipping was a vile act the people could recognize.
One foot again discovered how to plant itself upon the wooden surface. Rath lifted himself up, gritting through the pain until he was once again on two feet. The cheering began to die down as the people witnessed the resolve before them. There was a pause before the executioner picked up his work again and sent another lash. Rath shouted into the sky, but held firm and stopped himself from falling back down. Another lash and even another were whipped, each sending unbearable pain through the nerves. Even still, Rath did not fall. No longer did it look like the suffering of a villain, but the resolution of somebody with something worth dying for. The crowd hushed and stared as they witnessed Rogvald's work. For the first time, Rogvald was portrayed as the bad guy.

Lend me your ear!
...Heed my words. ℜogvald xxxxxThe twitch of Rogvald's eye only became stronger as be beheld the whipping. He saw the way the crowd was beginning to look at him. He saw their disapproval. Their hatred seemed to vanish. Rogvald did not understand. How can this be?! he thought. I crushed the resistance, I nullified every threat, the will of the people was in my hand! And yet... this one, solitary man... continues to thwart me!! HOW?!
xxxxx"That's enough!" Rogvald called as he held up his hand to stop the torturer's whip. He quickly glided over to the nomad and spoke lowly to him. "Well, what say you, savage?! ...All you have to do is submit to me..." He wiggled the fingers of a waving hand. "and all of this shall disappear!" Rogvald waited for a response and began to emit a soft growl when one did not come. "Will you not join me?! Is death really the better route?! I can give you everything... anything you desire in this world... and yet you would still choose this path?!" Enraged, Rogvald slapped Rath across the face, before turning to face the crowd. He breathed heavily, trying to calm himself. The people's looks had not changed. Their doubt was fixed on him. Rogvald's eyes darted about, as he began to sneer. "...The traitor chooses death!!" he shouted, before turning around to the soldiers on the platform. "Bring me wood and oil!"
xxxxxThe soldiers jumped to work as the order was given. A large pole was carried onto the platform and placed in the center. Rath was then pulled back and bound to the pole. Rogvald left the platform and waddled to the side. He glanced at King James who was seated in a safe place near the nobles and grinned, before looking back to the platform. Piles of sticks were stacked around the nomad and oil was being poured upon them. The executioner lit a torch and turned to Rogvald when he was ready. "...Do it."
I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

"You ask why do I not talk much?"_______←« _____ ←« ____ ←« ___ ←« __ ←« _____"...Because there is nothing to say."Rath ------------ Even knowing what not giving a response would do, Rath refrained from making one. Saying no would be a waste of the little strength he had and silence said no better than uttering the actual word. So he was bound to a pole upon the platform. Wood was placed around him and doused with oil. Rath then knew how Rogvald was planning to kill him. He didn't mind. Burning to death would leave no trace of him behind. He thought perhaps it was better that way.
The broken and defeated man looked up into the sky. It was surprisingly lovely. He had taken the beauty of everything for granted. It was too late for regrets. He had made peace with that fact that he was going to die. He knew it was eminent. Still, water formed in Rath's eyes and a small tear slid down his cheek. The thought of his daughter would not leave his mind. The executioner slowly lifted the torch over the wood. He held it there for a few seconds, almost unwilling to drop it, but then suddenly let go. Flames began to pick up immediately. They danced and cracked around in a deathly chant. They had a person whose time was up to deliver to the after life.
"Nino... forgive me."

Hmph, so they were a little late because it seems like the execution had already started...judging from the crowd this area had gotten it did seem like news spread fast that their good ol captain was to be executed today. So what was the point of Elly being here? Hired mercenary with Tristai that's what. Her eyes narrowed at the sight, depsite hiding in a tree she was very well capable of identifying what was going on. No matter, this sniper here was the distraction..so why not give the employer what he wants so they could get moving already.
Elly reached back toward her quiver and slowly drew an arrow. She scanned the nobles around once more and finally knocked her bow, ready to fire at them so they scatter. Just as the string was about to be released, she stopped.
What's the matter? Can't do it?
This voice....it wasn't hers..
Its a simple task, scatter them. Is that so hard?
No...its not...shut up, this was not her! This voice she did not know, yet it felt so familiar!
Just do it! You're running out of time, you stupid girl!
"Shut up!" without further delays, Elly released the string and the arrow struck the ground just a little far off from the platform. It grazed the rich silk fabrics of some nobles and they fell back. She let another fly in a different direction and they too shrieked and started to run. After many arrows were shot quickly in each direction, Elly drew two and held one with her lips, releasing one toward the foot of the executioner then another just a few centimeters away from Rogvald's foot.
((I was told by Joshua to post Elly so if its not ok, blame him :'D ))

I've been blessed with the gifts of the gifts of the Lady Saint, so show me some respect! It's not every day you find a rarity like me.₪Victoria₪ So, it had begun. When Victoria had spent her days in FEFGA's manor getting constant updates from the outside world through newspapers, she could only shake her head. That cruel man whom was now in charge of Learania was going to put the guild Captain to death! This was not justice, not in her eyes. No. Rath, the brave nomad of Sacae, was not a sinner whom deserved a heathen's burning. In her eyes, if he fell, the man would be a martyr.
But maybe he didn't have to be. Within the manor, she found a staff that wasn't being used by anyone, that she was free to take. A Rescue staff. By the looks of it, the worn magical tool only had one use left, but one use would be all she ever needed. With a little light magic of her own, she disguised it as a ceremonial staff which preachers used when giving a convict their last rites. Victoria did not flinch, when she saw the flames go alight underneath the Captain's feet. She instead said a prayer out loud, and a spell between the words. "Bring close to me, the one in peril. Rescue." She whispered the words between her 'last rites'. The staff's magic then glowed, surrounded Rath, and brought the nomad to the bishop's side.
She hadn't hesitated to douse the small flame that had crept to the ends of his tattered pant legs with an entire bottle of holy water. Victoria had not wasted time in fretting over the Rescue staff's jewel shattering neither, as she tossed it aside and drew out her Heal staff to soothe the fresh lash wounds that Rath had endured. The staff's small light was a signal to the rest of the resistance. It was time for them to come, and fight for the life of the man they all considered their leader. Whether they fought the guards, covered her while she continued to heal the wounded Captain, or secured the escape route through the Soldier's Passage, all were now welcome to lift their weapons for a free-for-all.
"Do not worry, brave nomad of Sacae. We shall all escape this place alive, Elimine willing." Victoria had finally spoke, as she continued to heal the nomad whom was in much need of rescue and protection, in her eyes. Elimine willing, the Resistance would not retreat or be defeated. This was their Captain they were going to save.ΘжElmine's LightжΘ If you are my ally, fear not, for healing is on your way! If you're my enemy, you'll be purged, and dead you shall stay. {I have opened the door for anyone of the Resistance to act. Whether you fight Rogvold and his cronies, protect Victoria and Rath, or make sure we can GTFO, what you do is up to you! Let's get ready to RUMBLE! =D}

Standing among the king and the nobles was the paladin herself as she watched the cart that carried Rath to the execution platform. Although she wished to be on that platform to give comfort for the prisoner, she was told to stand by these nobles and give them protection. Why should she be among the nobles? They could have any guards or Watchmen to give them protection. However, it seemed to make sense since the order was from the old git Rogvald. That scoundrel didn't trust her well to be on the same platform as him, thinking that she may threw away her titles on the last minute and tried to save Rath. Oh, that evil slimeball...
Isadora watched as Rogvald tried to make Rath confessed about Nino one more time. Hadn't that adviser know when to give up? He had tried to make the nomad confessed many times and all had failed. Rogvald should have given up after failing for the umpteenth time.
The Dame Knight flinched when the executor whipped against Rath's back. She could hear the cry of pain from the nomad. It ached her heart. It made her wanted to lunge forward and stopped this madness. But that would be a treason in the king's eyes. How could she prove to James that Rogvald was a cruel man?
Unfortunately, when she looked at the crowd, she noticed their expression had changed. These crowds... Weren't they happy to see Rath suffered a moment ago? Turning back to the platform, she let out a small gasp.
Rath was standing up despite the pain and injure that was on his back. He had a look of determination on his face with something blazing in his eyes. What set the nomad to have this much determination to stand up? She was unsure. However, she was impressed to see that there was some sort of hope left in him despite that death was so near by his feet.
Suddenly, she heard something whizzing coming toward them. When the paladin turned around, she spotted an arrow passing, cutting the fabrics of the nobles. A noble let out a frantic cry. Suddenly, nobles began to jump out of their seats and ran, screaming about assassination.
It's them again. Isadora thought as she pulled out her sword. She turned her head to one of the guards. "Get King James and the nobles to safety as quick as possible. Everyone, surround this place immediately to cover their escape route. We cannot let them escape like the last time. Let those who are within the resistance escape. I don't not want innocent bloods splatter to the ground."
While the nobles were escaping, the Dame Knight headed toward the direction from where the arrow flew. Although it seemed that the resistance had come to rescue Rath, what they did was trying to delay the execution. There was no telling if Rogvald had managed to execute Rath while the Guards and Watch tried to stop the resistance. The paladin hoped that Rogvald didn't execute the nomad while they were being under attacked.

...Heed my words. ℜogvald xxxxx"...What is this?!?!?!!?" His voice cracked into a deafening screech. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO, NO, NO, NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!" His eyes were so wide that it looked as if his eyeballs could fall out of his head. Red veins coursed through them and popped out on his head. He had planned for this day; schemed, rather! He made sure the resistance was killed in his trap the previous night! He had each gate heavily guarded to prevent anybody from coming in! How did they get in?! Why were they so persistent?! WHY DID THEY NOT SUBMIT?!
xxxxx"KILL THEM!! KILL THEM AAAALLLL!!" The Watch, who were in the crows, sprang into action. The citizens began to run around in a panic, fearing that they would be caught into the ruckus and killed. As soldiers began to flock to where the bishop was, Rogvald retreated back where King James was, for his own safety at that time. "Commander Valter! Captain Vaida!! Bring me their heads! BRING ME THEIR DESPICABLE TRAITOROUS HEADS!!!"
I advise you to listen. Not doing so could prove... deadly.

(( Yes, Lyre passed Tristai to me )) The arrow, that was the signal. As the nobles scattered left and right screaming their heads off like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. Tristai shoved past them, following the Jehanna's prince as they leaped toward the platform where Joshua had cut the ropes, letting Rath fall forward before he was teleported by Victoria. The captain was safe, however as for the bishop being capable of handling herself as well as the protection of Rath was in question.
"Hey! Client, if you're just gonna stand around gawking you might as well fight back!" Ok, so Joshua hired her for the castle rescue, fine and dandy, she got the payment of 40k but now she was hired to actually RESCUE Rath...another 40k for the smart Jehanna prince, well she wasn't gonna be doing every.single. fight on her own. Hell no, if that was the case she'd be asking twice the amount she's already demanded. Not that she hadn't cleaned out the poor King already but hey, her work didn't come cheap. One of the solders so clumsly tried to climb the platform and all Tristai did was just knock him on the head with her boot. "Keep up!" the ranger called as she leaped off the man's helmet and tried to clear a path for them both to reach the bishop. Scatter you worthless nobles! Joshua and Tristai had reached their destination point, the platform and cutting of the rope. It seemed that luck was on their side as a woman teleported the poor captain toward her. However, it seems Rogvald was not going to sit still oh no. Heh, time to let another fly she supposed. She quickly drew an arrow, twirling it before she knocked her bow and pulled the string back. "That's as far as you go, I'm afraid. So sad, too bad" if anybody was even near her, they'd be able to take note of a sly wink as she let the arrow fly toward the first soldier, striking him in the mid-thigh area, enough to knock him down and keep him from moving or running. They do very indeed insist on proceeding to try and attack her? How foolish! "Little boys, you should know when to give up! Another arrow was quickly drawn and released toward the couple other soldiers, this time she allowed a few to fly toward Joshua, assisting him since it seems as though Tristai had decided to help clear a way for everyone to gather. There were only a few of them here, but they can manage. Some how, some way.

Lord Raetia sat most pleased as he watched the show. He had been wanting this to happen for a long time. A very long time. He had taken an immediate to Rath from the moment that nomad arrived in Learania and began to assist Nino. It was all too perfect. The only thing that could have made it better was if he had given the order for execution, himself.
Actually, as he came to think of it, that could have been done by him. He had sent as assassin after the advisor and the king not long ago, but had not heard anything back from him. Hmph! Maybe he was waiting for this day. It made Lord Raetia all the more excited.
That excitement turned quickly into fear, however, when the guild members dared to rescue Rath from death! "Blast...!!" Lord Raetia flew to his feet and stared as fighting began to erupt in the very streets of Eyris. He had several personal guards with him, and looked to them. "Go and fight! Stop these traitors!" All his guards took off into the crowd, but Lord Raetia grabbed two of them. "No, wait! You two, get me out of here! Now!!" With their order, Lord Raetia's guards began leading him back to the castle.
Lord Altiplos and Lord Sires were assumed dead. Lord Eyris had been murdered. Lord Arajudia had returned home after being told it was safe. The only noble heads attending the execution were Lord Raetia and Lord Zeon. Unlike his fellow noble, Lord Zeon was less than enthusiastic about the execution. He knew the people would not approve of such public displays. But there was nothing he could do.
He was also not surprised when fighting broke out. Very little surprised him. And while Lord Raetia began to run, Lord Zeon stayed where he was, close to the king and the acting captain of the guild. Naturally, his personal guards asked him what they should do, too. "Stay where you are. Do not engage with the resistance unless they attack you." He looked out at the fighting, coldly. "If they really dare to do harm to any of us... then death shall greet them." He gripped his antique cane. If one was to ever look more closely, they would see that his cane... was covered in runes.

I fight for honor, for justice, for chivalry! That will always be my only reason...~x -{Leon}- x~Justice's Crusader Executions, arrows firing, staffs glowing and many shouts of surprise... they were all signs that pointed that at last, things were getting exciting again! Although the fight against the bandits and the magicians that happened in that trap was a nice workout, that's all it was. A workout. It didn't serve to make a difference in the fates of the Resistance, whom had more than a noble cause behind them. The Great Knight and his trusty steed rushed to cover the holy Bishop and the nomad whom her staff cared for. He lifted a shield, which he managed to loot from his previous battlefield, and deflected a couple arrows.
"Dun' worry, you guys! There's no way that snake an' his minions are comin' anywhere near ya!" As he said that, Leon drew out his quicker, lighter weapon. A sword. It was the one that Lady Isadora taught him anything and everything about using... as well as a lesson that he'd take with him for the rest of his days. As knights, it was their duty, first and foremost, to protect people. Now, even the fearless Guild Captain needed that protection. He would not fail. Not now, not ever.
And yet, the Great Knight saw his teacher in the arts of swordsmanship opposite side of him. Did she truly believe that this was the path which would preserve and protect lives, much less, the lives of those she held dearest to her? Maybe, just maybe if he spoke to her just once, Isadora would understand! That was of course... only if she came close enough to threaten that which he guarded. Who cares if he had no titles or insignia? Leon was doing what was right, and no one would get in his way. What was best about his path was... as he heard footfalls of the other Resistance behind him, was that he was not alone.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ The defeated can rise again... and fight for what is right!

Rahkain took in his surroundings as he arrived with Leon. He had already drawn his sword before they reached the town square. He moved in between the battle and the two Leon wished to protect, standing to the Great Knight's right.
He gave a sly smile to the beautiful cleric who was taking care of the nomad. He hadn't known these two, but if Leon wanted to protect them, he would help. He turned his attention to the battle.
"I'm with ya, Leon!" He said simply. "Nobody's getting past us!" He was ready. And he meant it. Rahkain never had something to fight for. Today he did.

While the soldiers went to attack the resistance and few went to block the exits, Isadora rode forward toward them. She had to move carefully to avoid colliding the crowd. They had no part in this. As she rode, she noticed something glowing behind her.
Turning her head, she saw a flash of light disappearing on the execution platform, leaning no one but the burning stake, few resistances and the soldiers with the executioner. What was missing was Rath. Where did he go? Isadora wasn't sure. However, she figured it must be one of the resistance's work. It was the only explanation behind this.
The paladin turned her head back and continued rode toward the resistance, carefully avoiding the crowd.
"Make path if you don't want to be trample!" Isadora shouted at the crowd as she rode forth. She could see some of the soldiers fighting against the resistance, following Rogvald's command. That scoundrel. Didn't he know there were people among the fight who had no part in this? This would make Eyris citizens upset about what happened to their country. Oh well, at least he had shown his true colors.
As she looked around, she spotted a group of resistance not far from her. Among the group was Rath himself. So that where he was. Having no time to dally, the Dame Knight rode forward.
While the resistance were busied fighting against the soldiers, Isadora rode forth and swung her sword to parry Leon's blade.
"Cease your attack at once!" Isadora shouted as she rode back one step and held her shield in case. "Do you not see what you are doing? There are civilians among in here. Are you trying to turn our citizens against us? Stop this fight this instant at once! You're not helping the cause!"
Isadora hoped that they would listen to her and stop. Even if she knew that Rogvald was trying to corrupt their country, it was her job to be sure that the country and its people were protected. If they wished to fight against her, then it would leave her no choice but to battle.
((Crud, I nearly got delirious toward the ending...))
