Normally Carina would have scoffed at the idea of being sent somewhere just to pick stuff up for a dinner party. They had staff to do that sort of thing and it wasn't like she had a ton of free time to do things in. Fall had meant an increase in lessons with Emily, extra chores to get the house ready for the holidays and after the most recent incident with Purple and the chandeliers obedience lessons. The nutbar was no longer allowed to run wild as he once had, Carina had to taken actual responsibility for him as he became more active and bolder with age of his own. there was to be no more simply ordering him around when it was convenient and hoping he listened. As much sense as possible needed to be drilled into him or else.
Today however Carina had been released from her lessons early so she could help out with the night's big dinner party. Charles had driven her to the sunshine bakery where she was allowed to pick out whatever she felt was appropriate for Dessert. The staff was making the actual dinner themselves but the resident pastry chef was sick and so outside food was necessary.
Carina didn't mind that much since bakeries usually had good things too and most importantly because she was the one picking out what dessert was. For the curio it felt less like a chore now and more like an honour. Although it did come with the responsibility of making sure she didn't pick something that would make her father look bad.
Carina kept this in mind as she stepped through the door to the bakery and took a deep breath. She had always loved the smell of fresh baked things.

Bug was draping herself over the counter, Anna Maria had to run out because she was out of some sort of ingredient... or was it yeast? Bug probably should have listened closer but she didn't, so in the mean time she just lounged in the front waiting for someone to come in.
Nearly resting her eyes Bug sprung upright when she heard the bells on the door chime as a girl walked in.
"Hello, welcome to the Sunshine Bakery, How may I help you?" she said with precision. Bug had never seen this girl before she was definitely new.

Carina stared at the girl she'd caught lounging on the counter and briefly wondered if it was safe to eat things from her. Then again the girl in question looked to be about her age and probably didn't actually work here, or at least not with the real food. Giving the bakery the benefit of the doubt the curio smiled at the winged girl and nodded. " Hello, I was wondering if I could get a dozen Churros and the same amount of strawberry-rhubarb empandas?"
Not the easiest of orders and one that would take a bit to fill but Carina had suddenly been positive that was the right order. The flavors should be light and mix well with what had come previously during dinner.

Giving a sort of blank face as she sort of expected more to the order she shrugged and pulled out a box to put them in. "Okay will do." she said in confidence. Bug grabbed and used the tongs to pick up the pastries and counted out loud quietly
"One, couple, three, four, few, six, several, eight, nine, ten, eleven, dozen." When she began to count the empandas she came up short one.
"Umm, we seem to only have eleven right now, will that be a problem? Mrs. Opthof, is out at the moment, and I can't make them. Would you be interested in anything else?" Bug had been told to offer other things when they were out of what they wanted. Sometimes the people would walk away, or come back later, but most did go for the other deserts that caught their attention.

Hmm, that was a bit of a problem and it was better to get a full dozen of something than ask anyone to go without their second piece if they wanted one, plus it would make the presentation platters look weird. Carina had recently learned just how important it was that things be presented in professional looking manners and how it changed what you though of things.
"Sure, what do you recommend?" Just becuase she had her own opinions on what matched dinner didn't mean that it couldn't be changed. Plus if this girl had worked here a while she knew what the specialties were, the pastries that got the most love put into them.
As she spoke Carina eyed the pale haired girl's golden wings. " Can you fly with those?" she asked curious indicating to them with a slight tilt of her head.

Oh good she was interested! Well she wanted a lot of whatever she could offer. Bug looked at their stock and looked for the ones that were both fresh and they had plenty of.
"We've got lots of strudel, both apple and cheese." she paused to think of something really nice to say that'd make the girl more interested in buying them. Anna Maria has just finished them before leaving, so they were still warm.
"They're super fresh, Mrs. Opthof makes the flaky dough herself too. Lots of people have been buying them lately, saying they're prefect for the fall." That was great! She hoped she made them sound more pleasing than the empandas.
Bug was taken back by her question. "umm... n... not yet." she mumbled embarrassed over the truth.

Ohh strudel were pretty delicious and fresh ones could be kept warm in the ovens once dinner was done cooking. It sounded like a pretty fair substitute as far as Carina was concerned. " That sounds good just split the order between them then please," Carina herself would definitely be going for an apple one.
Order made she thought about Bug's answer to her earlier question and the way the girl seemed to shrink while answering. She hadn't meant to upset the other, just satisfy her curiosity. " I'm sure you'll learn to fly soon enough, um do they molt? maybe you don't have proper flight feathers yet." There, that was more encouraging.

Upon the agreement Bug happily gathered up the new order placing them nicely into a box and into a bag to make it easier for the girl to carry.
Bug nodded when the girl suggested she would learn to fly soon. and little perplexed by her next question the canary girl tilted her head.
"Umm, what does molt mean?" her wings flapped, fluttered, spread out, folded up, but molted? never heard of that word to describe what they were doing. Bug's eyes grew large and peered at the girl waiting for her answer.
