Tahki strolled through the rows of books looking like she had some greater purpose to be there then she really did. Music softly pumped from her headphones as the gryphoness walked about the seemingly endless rows of books the library had to offer.
Truly, though, she had no reason to be there. It was just a calm she felt when she was here. Everyone was either to busy studying or reading usually to really pay any attention to her and Tahki liked that.
Tahki held in her hand a blacked out book of her own that had been worn and tattered. Something she commonly did to most of her privately owned romance novels, comic books or cheesy tween books. Honestly she was embarrassed to be reading such things but they were so addicting. The gryphon was easily hooked romance novels and would read them over and over again until the spine of the book would give way.
The gryphon stopped for a moment to lean against a row of books and open her romance novel. It was just getting to the good part.

"Ah!" Was the only audible warning the white gryphon ghoul would have had right before a clawed hand caught a book that almost landed on the one she was reading. Julian was flapping, almost upside-down in the air above her head, wide eyes adding to the look of near-terrified embarrassment on his face. He had been perusing the shelves for something new to read. He LOVED to read, pretty much anything. Well, he didn't really like history books, or romance novels. He didn't mind if the hero of the story he was reading got the ghoul in the end. He didn't even really mind the kissing. He just didn't want to read something that was just romance, or had more than kissing. Just wasn't his thing.
So, he had been looking at the books, but found he was too short to see some of the higher shelves. Rather than going to find a ladder, he simply flew quietly up and started pulling books off the shelf to look at. Unfortunately, one slipped through his grasp just as he pulled it from the old wood.
He watched as if in slow motion as it fell down towards a ghoul he sort of recognized. No other thoughts going through his mind, he clutched the other books he had picked out to his chest and snatched the book out of the air, just a little bit from her face. After a stunned moment, he flew himself a few paces away from her and landed. "I'm s-sorry, I d-didn't m-mean to."

She had only just started reading when the near accident had occurred. Tahki didn't even have time to wince with how fast everything took place. Before the gryphon really had a clue of what event had taken place there was a boil before apologizing. Tahki couldn't help but tilt her head with a dumb struck look.
"Sorry for what?" She blinked at him and really took in the boils image. He looked familiar but the gryphon couldn't really recall from where or when. They had never met before. She'd had remembered another, what she assumed to be monster, graced with such feathered wings.
Then she remembered her book. Quickly she shut it and put it under her arm. Strangely she didn't feel her anxiety creeping up. Though, it was probably because of the confusing event that had just taken place.
"Did.. " She blinked, "Did you just save me from a falling book?"

Julian tucked the fallen book in with the four others he held in the crook of his left art so that he could run his right hand nervously through his hair. "I just almost d-dropped a book on your head," he stuttered, looking very apologetic. He had to wonder why she shut her book so suddenly and hid it under her arm. Did she not want anyone else to see it? He guessed he could understand that.
Her voice was what clicked his memory. He really did have a very good one, when it came to things he read and heard and faces he saw and the names that went with them. While he had hidden his face in their literature class after introducing himself, he had heard everyone after him perfectly fine.
"T-Tahki, right? You're in Gr-Great Works, t-too." The last thing he said was more of a statement rather than a question, though his tone of voice carried the inflection as if both things he had said had been questions.

Tahki's ears perched up. He remembered her name? She hadn't thought anyone had really paid much attention to her when she snuck into class, late, that one day. But it warmed her a little to know that some one had listened.
There was that ghost who had given her the thumbs up. Oh dear maybe she wasn't flying under the radar like she had hopped. Her eye twitched a little at the thought that more peers her age had possibly listened to her make a bit of a fool of her self.
"Y-you were listening?" She was truly amazed. "I came in late.. Im afraid I missed your name," She rubbed the back of her head and looked down awkwardly. She hopped that he didn't think she was rude for not knowing his name.

Julian's eyes widened when she looked a little uncomfortable that he had heard and remembered her introduction. The only reason he remembered her name was because that was just something he did. He just had a very good auditory memory.
"I-I was, but only a l-little bit," he replied, looking downwards himself, for a moment. He didn't want her to feel awkward that he remembered her, so he looked back up again when a nervous smile and a small shrug.
"Y-you probably wouldn't have noticed me a-anyways. I was in a corner and had my h-head down," he added and realized at that moment that she might have been fishing for his name she she said she had missed it. His eyebrows rose a bit before he spoke again, "Oh, m-my name's Julian Thanatos."

Tahki glanced up at him and gave him a small smile. He seemed like a really nice guy.
"That probably was it. That you had your head down I mean.. I-I mean...," She felt a little courage rising from inside her. Julian seemed nice and not judgmental, "I-I mean.. I wou-would have remembered some one nice like you if I had seen you," She rubbed the back of her head feeling a little at home around a fellow avian blessed creature.
She eyed the book that had almost fallen on top of her.
"May I ask what book that is," She pointed to it.

Julian smiled, feeling a bit more comfortable. She seemed kinda like him, nervous around other people and interested in books, but generally nice. Maybe they could be friends. If he could stop bring so nervous for a few minutes.
She asked about the book and he looked down at it before taking it off the top of the pile he had collected and offered it to her.
""One Thousand and One Tibicenan Nights. It's a collection of little stories," he explained with a small nod. In essence, the overall story was kind of a romance. But the little stories were kind of adventurous and they taught little monsters valuable lessons. "Do you... like to read, too?" Hey! He hadn't stuttered a bit when he said any of that!

"Romance..."The gryphon eyed the book with even more wonder when Julian mentioned it had a bit of romance. Then she realized what she had said out loud and quickly snapped back into her body.
"I do like to read," She smiled and held out her book. Though she was careful to keep it closed so that Julian could not see exactly what it was that she had been flipping through. Reading romance wasn't something she was extremely proud of. Because of that, she usually kept what she read to her self by blacking out the covers.
"Though.. I usually come to the library to get away from most people. Theres a calm here I like that you can't get any where else on campus." Tahki hoped that didn't seem like a weird reason to go to the library. She didn't want to scare of a new potential friend with her weirdness.

"Kind of. The story-teller is telling of the stories to her mean husband to make him happy, but a lot of the stories are about adventure. It's pretty fun," Julian explained, putting the book back with the others he held. Oh, that was great! She liked to read. Maybe they could study together for Great Works, Dr. Alabaster seemed like a tough teacher, so it would be good to have others to work with.
"The library is a good place to get away. It's nice and quiet. The roof is nice, too." It really was. He liked to fly up there to get some quiet and fresh air at the same time. And a great view. Sometimes he took Boo up there, so the neurotic Scrag could get some time out of his cluttered room.
"So, what do you like to read? I mean, i-if you don't mind me asking?"

The gryphon eyed the book even more. She would have to find a copy and read it at some point. Mentally noted.
Tahki smiled, looking upward. The roof sounded like a fun place to be. Her wings seemed to have a mind of their own as they reached outwards almost on their own. Tahki's mouth made an o shape when she realized this and quickly folded her wings close.
"Books.. Uhh.. uhh," She couldn't very well mention romance novels, comic books, or tween novels now could she? The gryphon quickly folded the blacked out book back under her arm.
"I like the mysteries...," She gave him a weak smile. It wasn't entirely a lie. Tahki did like mystery type stories just fine. Just usually there was a romantic story to go along with said mystery. It was part of the truth anyhow. Her ears visually lowered. The gryphons foot dug a bit into the tile below. Lying wasn't something she liked.

Mysteries, huh? Julian didn't have many of those that weren't his graphic novels. And he only had a few of them with him. That was probably one of the worst things about coming to school, he had to leave almost all of his books at home. Sure, there was the library and it certainly had more books than his own personal one had, but some things he had weren't in the school's library. He liked reading his own books. They had a feel to them, they were his. Sure, he had brought some of his favorites, but only enough to fill the bookcase he had convinced his family to let him take.
And some of that space was taken up by his Dungeons & Humans and The World of Light RPG books, which he couldn't leave home without. Too bad without Bran, Andor, and two of Andor's friends, he didn't have anyone to play with.
"I... Have a few of those with me, but... They're n-not really n-normal books." He sighed at the return of his stutter, annoyed that he couldn't relax around ghouls. He should have asked his brothers more questions about them before he left home.

Tahki noticed the shudder and couldn't help but almost smile. It was a little reassuring to see he was nervous too. Another thing they seemed to have in common, anxiety. At least Tahki assumed it was anxiety. Either that or he could have been cold.
"Not normal books?" She tilted her head at him. Did he maybe read things he was ashamed of too? That made Tahki feel even worse about lying about the types of books she actually was interested in. Her ears lowered again for a brief moment.
"If their not normal Im sure they are lots of fun," A warm grin formed on her face. She wasn't going to push him to tell her what type of books he actually read unless he wanted to tell her.

Julian sighed and used his free hand to rub at the back of his head, a nervous smile on his face. "You w-won't laugh?" he asked, though he didn't really wait for a reply. He came to the conclusion that if he didn't go ahead and say it, ten to one said that he would get too nervous and not manage it later.
"The m-mystery books I have are gr-graphic novels. M-my older brother's m-more of a fan but... I have a few," he explained, looking down. He liked his graphic- oh for the love of Jack, they were comic books. His older brother Cyrus was the one who'd gotten him into them and he always said it sounded more dignified to call them graphic novels then comic books. But he wasn't sure if that was a silly thing to admit or not.
The young demon let out a slow breath and glanced up to see whether she would start laughing or not.

Tahki almost did laugh was the thing. But not at Julian, at the fact they had a similar secret they guarded.
"Seriously?" She couldn't hid her amused expression though. He'd been honest with her. She felt horrible yet free at the same time. She could be honest with him back.
"I actually have... a few comics my self," She admitted. "I .. read some romance too," She looked up and flushed red admitting that.
"What sort of comics do you read?"
