~Welcome to Metamorphosis Academy's Halloween Ball 2010!~
The staff have decorated the gymnasium in proper Halloween decor. Fake spiderwebs are stuck to the walls, complete with plenty of little plastic insects. The refreshments table is lined with Halloween style foods like brain jell-o, "blood" punch (which is actually fruit punch) and plenty of candy. Fog seems to be floating out from under the table as well.
Ghosts and otherworldly creatures hang from the ceiling, mostly located in the corners as if they were placed there to discourage students from hiding out away from the action. The lighting is dim, but the lights hanging overhead suggest that later in the evening there could be a light show of sorts.

Deskri had decided to show up for this ball not because he liked them, but because it reminded him of his first days at the Academy. He'd been adopted during the Halloween season, and had promptly been sent off to attend their first ball. There he met both of his friends, Rasiel and Sonnet, for the first time, though at the time he had no idea how close he'd get to them.
He entered the gym slowly, as if he expected something to jump out at him. He believed he had reason to fear these events, something terrible always happened during them. Perhaps the terrible thing had happened already because he hadn't seen nor heard from Rasiel it quite some time. In an attempt to fit in he'd dressed up for once, he figured dressing for Halloween wasn't nearly as formal as any other ball. He'd bought some cat ears and a tail, and was dressed in black from head to toe. Nothing out of the ordinary, save for the ears and tail.
Once inside he made his way to the refreshments table and immediately checked for brownies. Since he'd decided to quit cutting and pain pills, brownies had become his replacement. To his delight there actually was a tray, and so he helped himself to one or five of the delicious treats.
Hayden was the next to enter. He didn't particularly care about events, but he figured he'd show up. He might see Freya or someone else he'd met forever ago. He'd opted to dress as a jester, figuring most people were scared to death of clowns. His clothes were a multitude of colors, (what most people would call an eyesore) his face was painted white with red spots on his cheeks and a fake teardrop near one eye. He still wore his headphones though, those were necessary.
Upon entry he immediately noticed Deskri and made a face. He didn't want to be stuck in the gym with only his brother for company, especially since he didn't particularly like his brother. Thankfully their solitude was interrupted by yet another person.
Aiden, in an attempt to feel connected to the other students, had opted to go to the ball with or without Mira. He decided to dress himself as something most people wouldn't consider a costume. He'd dressed himself as a girl, just to see if anyone realized that he was actually male before he started speaking. (Not that he had a very masculine voice anyway.)
He spotted Deskri and Hayden, but chose to stay away from Deskri. The teen still made him nervous, even though Mira had said Deskri wasn't the one that hurt them. So he ended up standing near Hayden, on the opposite side of the gym, feeling too awkward to really say anything.

Hank arrived, driven back to school by Metz in her ancient Bel Air, a short time after. Inspired by his most recent bedtime reading, he was dressed as Sherlock Holmes, complete with overcoat, hat, and magnifying glass. He wasn't too keen on the "ball" aspect of the get together, but Metz informed him that the only way he was going to get his Sherlock Holmes costume was if he actually went somewhere in it. He looked around anxiously. None of his "cousins" had arrived yet - and he knew very few other kids. Metz hadn't carried out her threat to make him move into the dorms, so he spent very little time there out of class. Plus all of the other people in the gym looked older then him. Maybe the wall was the best placed to hang out for now.

Syth had found a fondness for Halloween. Perhaps, because of the fact that is was the reason why she had met up with Alice, and shared her first 'real' kiss. After having tried to go out of her way and chase after Sono well after he had attempted to calm her down. Though, she wondered what had been planned, and if anything had been done to make sure nothing bad could happen. For some reason, things always seemed to go wrong this time of year. Yet considering that Deskri and Rasiel both had their 'bad things' banished, nothing seemed likely to happen.
Add in the fact that her children had been... well disiplined as of late. Silas wasn't a worry, but Yoko had managed to piss of Lucien to the point of him blinding her. Though, it didn't seem to impair her as much as one might have expected. The little brat was still causing trouble, just now trying not to push someone too far. God forbid she end up pissing the wrong person off and losing an arm.
And yet, for some alarming reason, Alice had decided not to come along. Worn out for various reasons, which she could understand. But, the children needed to go out and socialize. Plus, who knew what might happen here. Wonderful things have happened before here.
"Alright children, here we are," She announced, her grip still held tight on a red headed girl, who seemed more than eager to try and cause a ruckus, "Have some fun, and don't cause any trouble,"
The last phrase was mostly directly towards Yoko, who could only look up and stare bare. Remaining silent, before grabbing a hold of Mnejing's arm.
"Hurry up," She replied, her eyes unfocused, her sight still missing. Waiting for a tug from Mnejing's arm as he led her off. Small feet tapping along the floor, leading them away from Syth to have some fun. While Mnejing wanted the girl, dressed up as a Jester (The main color attraction of Purple/Red, with a heafty amount of face paint), to enjoy to meet some new people, and to have fun. She was on the lookout to be able to made a quick snide at someone. And seeing Deskri made her heart flutter. A perfect opportunity.
The two stopped right next to the refreshment table. Mnejing waving to the cat-like Deskri, announcing their presence, "Good evening Uncle Deskri,"
Though, Yoko couldn't help but wonder about the brownies he was engulfing. Mummy and Nana always scolded her for eating too many, saying that she could get fat. And right then, the perfect jide for him.
"Nana and Mummy say you shouldn't eat too many sweets. You could get fat," Yoko stated in a tone of fact voice. A grin on her face as she gave Mnejing a small tap. Now being led off, with Mnejing watching behind. Watching for his reaction.

[I assume she can kind of see through Mnejing?]
Deskri stared down at Yoko and her puppet with an expression that said he was trying not to grimace. He had decided that Delilah was okay. Sonnet's little siblings were okay. But Yoko looked too much like Syth and therefore, she was of the devil and was not okay. "Aren't you a little young to come to a dance, Yoko?" He made no attempt to dumb his words down to her level. If she was smart enough to insinuate that he was going to get fat she was smart enough to know that toddlers don't generally come to balls.
"Well, your Nana and Mummy forgot about special people like me that can eat this many sweets and not get fat." His eyes narrowed and a frown formed on his face, but that really wasn't anything new. It seemed he always had a frown on his face and some sort of sour look.
Silas toddled along behind his Nana and sister, not really paying too much attention to what was going on. He was dressed in a most fluffy costume that resembled a rabbit. "Nana... I'm thirsty." He turned his red eyes up to Syth, half looking expectant but also appearing as if he wasn't really looking at her at all. The kid had a weird way of being half out of it all the time.
Hayden couldn't help but smirk at the situation that presented itself to Deskri. How perfect was that? He'd often heard his mother on the phone sounding as if she were trying to talk Deskri into liking children.
As amusing as watching Deskri's plight was, he was beginning to grow bored. Syth was occupied with a small child, and honestly he didn't really want to talk to a grown up, and so he was left with either the really pale chick (Aiden, hahaa) or Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes was pretty bad a** and so he made his way over to that boy.
"Hey, names Hayden. What's yours?" He offered his hand, which did not contain one of those shocker things. No, he'd save that for Deskri if he actually got around to shaking his hand or anything.

"Nana said I should come," Yoko replied, still holding onto Mnejing, noting the insult had resulted in a frown. Something he wasn't happy about, trying to pull Yoko away, though, she stood still. A small grin on her face, as a comeback easily manefested itself inside her mind. Her mouth opening from the grin as she let it lose.
"So, do special people like you go to a special class for special people?" She reported, giving a good focus on the word special. Sometimes, the time she spent with Rasiel seemed to have gone against Deskri, rather than help her make fun of Syth. Though, she enjoyed making fun of Deskri none-the-less.
Oh, though how she couldn't but smile in delight though, at her thought, and hoping to stir a reaction out of Deskri.
"Okay Silas," Syth responded, moving to bend down and pick up Silas from the ground. Holding him in her arms, and bringing him to the bowl of blood punch. Giving it a taste test first (In case someone would have decided to spike it with some sort of alcoholic beverage) before moving to give Silas a small cup of punch. Setting him down, and doing her best to not pay attention to Deskri. He obviously disapproved of her greatly, and if he ever wanted something from her, she would be surprised, "Need anything else Silas?"

"Oh yes, because special people like me need special classes because we're too damn special to be with the losers on this campus." Deskri had almost blown up on the toddler but realized just before opening his mouth that that was the reaction she was going for. "Does that answer your questions, brat?" The look of distaste was growing on his face, enough so that the tips of his hair gained a red tinge to them.
"Thanku Nana." Silas took the cup in his tiny hands and sipped at it a little. His eyes wandered over the room, occasionally jerking in one direction as if something suddenly caught his attention before they began to wander again. "No, 'm okey now Nana." He held the empty cup up at her, guessing that she would throw it away for him. "Who is Sissy talking too?" Silas had never met his uncle Rasiel or Deskri, he'd only heard of them from whatever snidbits of conversation he heard from Yoko.

Ah, Halloween. Both good and bad memories came with this holiday, but still, Sonnet was looking forward to it. She had been planning her 'costume' of sorts for nearly a month or so before the actual event, buying this and that every time she had some spare change, or if her mom was buying. Mizu had been very intrigued with her plans of dressing up, if anything because Sonnet was going out of her clothing comfort zone. So after several trips to 'Hot Topic' and similar stores, it was now time for the great unveiling.
As she walked through the doors into the ballroom, it might have been hard to tell it was her at first. The main undershirt was cut like a mix between a turtle neck and a halter top, having the neck of the first and the main shape if the latter. It was dark purple in color, and seemed to shine a little bit as the light hit it, like satin. It clung tightly to her body, showing every curve and twist of her body. She was also wearing an underbust corset made out of black leather and lots of silver accents and baubles, though the strings that held it together were a bright purple. Every bit of her torso and her arms that was not covered in cloth was decorated with dark purple fishnets. Her black skirt clung tightly to her frame until right about at the knee were it seemed to ruffle and wave out and mobility was gained with a slit that traveled up just past her mid thigh. Her boots were tall and black with buckles and zippers every which way and started just past the knee and gave her at least a good 4 inches on her normal height when she wore flats. Her hair was pulled back into a pony tail instead of the usual bun to show off just how long her hair actually was. The tail part was curled into perfect ringlets, and halfway down they went from her golden locks to a bright purple, as did her bangs. Her face was heavy with makeup, black lipstick, thick eyeliner, lots of purple eyeshadow. Her tell tale purple wings were decorated with fake black spiderwebs, and her nails were painted black as well.
With a quick scan of the room, she quickly caught sight of Deskri and waved at him before walking over to where he was at, hoping that he'd get out of his seemingly sour mood he seemed to be in. That must be Yoko he was talking to. She had heard the horror stories, and lots of them.
"Hey Deskri!" she said as she got closer, smiling at him. It was a good thing she had been practicing walking in these shoes, or bad and painful things would have happened to her on the way over
Cedric was next to follow, his costume no where nearly as elaborate or expensive as Sonnet's, not like he cared. He really just wanted to get out of the house and away from Kyle and her craziness. He simply wore a black cloak and carried around a cheap plastic scythe. Anything to get him at least a little more fitting in with the Halloween crowd.
He looked at Deskri for just a moment before snorting. Like hell he'd hang out with him after what happened LAST time he had been over at his house. He couldn't risk him being stupid again.
Looking on the other side of the room, he spotted two people, though it seemed the jester had just found someone else to talk to, so he made his way next to the pale female who...wasn't in costume? Weird...
He stood next to 'her' for a moment before looking at her again. Wait...that was that a lump in her throat? He squinted for a quick second. Yes, that was an Adam's apple all right. If he learned anything from his elder sister, it was how to be observant, and it was something Cedric was grateful he caught onto.
"You don't seem to be dressed in a costume," he commented, deciding to play along with the deception. "Not that I'm complaining. I would have dressed normally if I had known someone else was going too..." he said before giving 'her' a charming smile.
"I'm Cedric, by the way, and yourself?"

Was that Sonnet!?! There was a blank stare from Syth, agasp at what Sonnet had come to halloween dressed up as. Set up dark, gothic, and if one would have looked at her, they would have perhaps imagined she was in league with Deskri in terms of scary gothic appearance. Yet though, it was what halloween was about. Dressing up in some other costume, though, perhaps she should have spent more time with hers?
Then again, looking at Deskri, perhaps it simply worked out that she fancied herself dressed in some sort of rather reflective silk cloth she had found scavenging around the mansion for something to wear. Most likely, out of Broken's closet.
And Sonnet's appearance was more than enough to distract her from what Yoko has said to Deskri. Luckily so, otherwise a big scene might have been made. Somehow, luck seemed to follow Yoko around, at least, when she needs it the least. And when the shock of Sonnet's outfit was finally overcome, she turned to look at Silas. Taking the empty cup from his hands, intending on throwing it away later, "Oh, that's Uncle's boyfriend," She replied, remaining rather neutral in tone, "Here, let's go say hi to him"
---
One look at Sonnet was enough to send Yoko into a frenzy of thoughts. The blond hair that was dyed purple halfway through, as if she didn't have enough dye. The outfit that looked as though it was been pieced together from god knows where, and the spiderwebs on her wings. Sonnet looked like a good mess, and she could only help but grin. Yet, all good deals had to come to an end. Especially with her own mother arriving. Switching from from being the mouthy little brat to something more bearably sweet.
"That's a nice costume!" She spoke in a bit of shock, acting as if she had never seen anything as remarkable as that. Her little puppet reaching out in Yoko's stead, giving her skirt a soft tug, trying not rip or tear anything.
Perhaps, this would make for a fun diversion. Act nice and make the messy girl think she was all sweet, while simultaneously pushing as many buttons as she could with Deskri.

Ask totally adored his costume. Really, there could not be a cooler one out there. The soft brown of his jedi robe and the cream of his jedi shirt were good colors for him. And no one could make fun of his blue lightsaber that lit up and made clashy noises. He even had a padawan's braid woven into his hair. Obi-wan Kenobi was such an awesome jedi and for tonight he got to be him.
He'd be moving into the dorm soon and was really looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone and getting acclimated. Maybe he'd see some of his friends there too. So with those thoughts in mind he pushed open the door to the ball and walked in. He immediately spotted Hayden and Hank.
They both looked good in their chosen costumes. Ask hooked his lightsaber onto his belt (a proper leather jedi belt, the devil's in the details as Shiny said.) and started heading over to them but got distracted by the refreshment table. The brownies did look fabulous. Maybe he should grab one on the way over.

"...Are you ready, Rontu?" "Ah..a-almost done, sir!" Dem blinked at the 'sir', but said nothing, merely sighing and shaking his head. He didn't know who 'trained' him to just say sir, or ma'am. It was polite yes, but it was rather... annoying, for the ex-con. The wolf was fiddling with his keys when Rontu stepped out, and he had to bite back a laugh. "A ghost?" "Is...is it too scary?" "No no.... it's....cute...." He put a hand over his mouth, trying not to laugh-Lords was it cute! The boy was wearing a white blanket with cut circles for eyes, and white clothes underneath. Positively adorable. He ruffled his hair through the blanket, watching the boy giggle and squirm to fix it with ghosty hands, and follow him quietly out the door. "What about your costume?" Here, Dem paused, glancing over his shoulder and taking his coat off. HE hadn't thought about it-but it would be easy.
Fur sprouted over his upper torso-a tail shot out through a slit in his pance, and his face elongated into a muzzle filled with razor sharp fangs- "Ah, Rontu!" The sheet fell into the puddle, soaking it up, and changing back he began to apologize to the wet sheets, ignoring stares from people around. He coaxed the terrified boy into a solid state, and helped him with his costume. "Too scary?" "......" "Sorry Rontu." He put a hand on his head before ushering him to the back seat of his car, whereas he took the front. Instructions scribbled on a paper told him where the bash was, and he began to drive slowly as Rontu buckled up and urged Dem with his eyes to do the same.
~~~~~~~~~~~
At the bash, Demetrius ushered Rontu to go on ahead-the boy was so shy of it all, staring around the gymnasium with curiosity... He couldn't recognize anyone, and truth be told... some of the costumes scared him.....
Hank stopped puffing on his bubble pipe for a moment and held out his left hand to the older boy. "Sherlock Holmes, good sir, of Baker Street. Worlds greatest detective and whatnot. Decided to come out and enjoy a bit of the ole' party scene, wot?" Hank puffed at his bubble pipe again for a minute, then said, "I'm Hank."
Outside of the gymnasium, a Bentley pulled up to the main doors. Oliver came around to help his young charge out- armed with a camera. Derek, at least, wanted to see his daughter having fun. The tailor really had outdone himself. Isolde was all in white, soft, floating and feathery. Even her hair, already nearly white and fluffy, had down feathers in it. Her own blue and white wings were draped in a shimmering white fabric, and a white and gold mask covered her face. She slipped a white gloved hand into Oliver's as they headed up the steps. "I hope I get to dance like Odette!" she said cheerfully. "You're a bit young to dance yet, missy." "Nuh-uh, Oliver! I am a lady! I can dance with whoever I want!" Isolde entered the gym, and looked around excitedly. Kei and Nadia weren't here, and she didn't see River, but there was Ask! He was in a brown robe and he had a funny braid in his hair. She started to make her way over.
[D8 MASSIVE POST IS MASSIVE, DESU.]
Deskri looked up at the mention of his name, but when his eyes landed on the gothic girl before him he had no idea how to respond. Was that Sonnet? Really? The mixture of amazement and confusion spread over his face perhaps a little too openly.
"S-Sonnet? Is that really you?" He blinked a few times. Admittedly she looked gorgeous, though he'd never say that out loud... no, not ever. He'd just do as he usually did and say she was pretty, or that she looked nice. It wasn't a lie, but it was a severe understatement. "You look... different." He paused, "in a good way, I mean." The last bit came out in a rushed sentence as if he'd realized that what he had said could have been taken as an insult.
Deskri glanced down at Yoko and her puppet, momentarily giving them a disapproving look before he looked up again. Unless Yoko seriously did something he was going to maintain perfect control of his temper. Yes... Deskri had decided to make an attempt at maturity. He knew he'd probably fail, but he figured it was the thought that counted anyway.
"Okey Nana." Silas toddled over to where the other three stood and stared up at the two teenage Metas. They were both very dark to him, but not scary at all, even though it seemed like they were trying to be scary.
"Hi." He waved up at them absentmindedly. "'M Silas." He added a moment later. Between his greeting and introduction something had caught his attention which caused him to look off to the side, but to anyone else looking in that direction there was nothing to be seen at all.
"Oh good, now that you're here you can take Yoko away. I didn't come to hang out with toddlers. Especially the rudest toddler I've ever met in my entire life." Deskri looked to Syth, almost completely ignoring Silas's existence. He was at least nice enough to stare down at the boy and offer a silent wave. The kid freaked him out with that distant look, and the weird staring at nothing.
Hayden took Hank's hand and shook it gently but firmly at the same time, the perfect handshake. He'd heard that making friends was as simple as shaking someone's hand the right way. "You're pretty good at that, ain't ya? I haven't really thought 'bout how a jester talks. Prolly in riddles. Nice t'meet you, Hank." Hayden's face spread into a wide grin. Normally such a grin would look innocent, but with his face paint it looked almost devious.
Aiden quirked a brow, mentally debating on whether Cedric had fallen for the costume or not. Well, whether he did or not didn't matter as soon as he started speaking. "Oh, I am. It's just hard to tell at first." He shrugged a little, not really defining whether he thought Cedric fell for it or not. "Aiden, pleasure to meet you Cedric. Do you not like Halloween? I think it's pretty fun. The real meaning behind it is a lot more deep than this silly celebration, but hey... free food is always nice." He offered Cedric a half smile and extended his hand.
River had begged his father to take him and his new brother Zahur to the halloween ball, reasoning that he hadn't seen his friends since he'd had his growth spurt, and that poor little Zahur didn't have a single friend. And so after much coaxing and convincing Enosio agreed to escort them to the ball, on the condition that he could stay and watch the whole time just to make sure nothing bad happened. River was more than alright with that, and so he'd run off to get his costume prepared.
River opened the door to the gymnasium and slipped inside, holding it open long enough for his father and little brother to get in. He was dressed from head to toe in the fluffiest white wool ever to be seen, complete with little ram horns on the top of his head and a puffy little tail on his rear end. He'd decided to live up to his fluffy appearance for Halloween and be a sheep.
"Oh, look there's Isolde and Ask, they're all dressed up too. See? I told you they'd be here." River looked up at his father with excitement on his face.
"Well go talk to them then?" Eno made himself comfortable on a spare chair.
Sonnet smiled at Deskri. "Yeah, it's me. I thought I'd attempt to dress in a way that I'd never think of dressing in before. I thought it might help out with my self esteem," she explained before she felt a tug on her skirt. Looking down, she saw Yoko and her puppet. Didn't the puppet have a name? If so, Deskri either never mentioned it or she had forgotten what on earth it was.
"Thank you," she said to the little girl with a smile before looking at Silas, the small boy that was with Syth.
"Hello Silas, I'm Sonnet. Very nice to meet you," she said pleasantly. Sure, she was sort of hoping to hang out with older Metas, but she wasn't going to be rude. It just wasn't how Sonnet worked.
Cedric nodded at Aiden. Seemed smart, one point for him. "Of what I read, Halloween has a lot of interesting history, but it's not really played upon in parties like this one... And as to liking Halloween, I wouldn't really know. Other than the interesting reading about it, this is my first time celebrating it," he said with a shrug.
He looked at the food at the table and shuddered. "You'd think they'd take into account that not everyone wants to get diabetes. Is sugar the mascot of the holiday?" he asked jokingly.
"I can't seeeeee" came a small voice after River as a small child waddled into the ballroom. He was wrapped head to toe in guase or something like that. A mummy if you will. There were only small bits of him to be seen, tufts of brown hair, little bits of tan skin around the wrists and fingers, and one dark blue eye with the gold flecks swimming about.
Zahur attempted to adjust his costume while he followed his father to the chairs. He didn't know anyone here, and he didn't want to be a bother to River and his friends, so he did his best to get into a chair next to Eno's, though he was having a lot of trouble getting up into it.
Ask was debating over what type of brownie he wanted-plain? or with chocolate chips?- when he realized that right about now Isolde should be showing up. He turned around to greet her before she could say anything. "Hey Isolde, you look nice." He said and smiled. She'd grown since he last saw her on her parents' yacht. And the white dress really did look good on her, he particularly liked the feathers.
He looked around her briefly to wave to River before deciding randomly on the plain brownie. "Want a brownie?"
