Pazzult and his blue flit, Kip, were on a mission. Pazz had saved up some of his meager allowance to get a fine blue piece of weyrhide, softened up nicely, with leather ties and had worked on it in secret. Adding delicate stitching and small gold beads, he was rather pleased with the gift that he had made for his friend, Wykla.
Between the Benden mess and looking in records, for weeds and trying to grow things, on top of candidate chores and starting his journeyman project, the teen had been run ragged. But it was finished. Kip, was sitting on Pazzult's shoulder, chittering the whole time, talking about every thing his little flit mind could hold. After searching the kitchens, the store rooms, and the common area, he noticed the back of Wykla's head moving towards one of the lakes. "Hey, Wykla! Wait up!"

Wykla had been conscripted into yet another chore. Even though there were lots of hands in planting and tending all the new plants of mystweed, someone still had to be sure they were watered. Just because she hadn't helped plant them didn't mean she couldn't water. So, here she was. Trudging back and forth between the lakes and nursery. How much water can one stupid little plant need? While not as tedious as sweeping or cooking, it wasn't high on her list of favorite chores.
She was hot, sweaty, dirty, and pieces of leaves clung to her clothes. For a moment, she'd thought she heard her name. Who would be calling? Pausing to look around for anyone looking at her. In the distance... could it be? "Pazzult?"

It was her! And by the look of it, she was carrying a heavy bucket. Hurrying up to her, Pazzult gave her a smile and held his hands out. He didn't want to out and out take the bucket of water from her but he didn't like to see girls doing the hard work either. "Hey, let me take this from you. I don't mind. I have a free candle mark. How have you been?"
Kip, turned to the girl and to his boy and continued the chatter about well.. Whatever fire lizards talked about... He was very friendly but very, very talkative.

"Hey Pazzult. How is it?" She blinked for a moment, then shyly proffered the bucket to him. "Uh, sure if you really want." She made a dismayed face. "They recruited me to water the mystweed plants they've all brung in. Can't say its the most exciting job under a dragon."
Her eyes went to the blue flit on his shoulder. "Is that?" Clearly it had to be his. "He's pretty Pazz! And so talkative." She giggled and called Boreal.
Responding to his summons from his favorite person, he made a quick landing on her shoulder. Assessing the situation the bronze turned a whirling blue eye on the boy and blue. He cheeped hello to the first and a whistling trill to the flit. Someone new to talk to!

"It is pretty good. Been helping out where ever I can. Mainly with the transplanting and any manual labor. Yeah, I don't mind." Pazzult took the bucket from Wykla and began walking.... Where he wasn't quite sure. "Where we goin' anyway?"
They had been so busy lately, Pazz had only seen her really in classes and even those had been to the point. Still, it was good to be able to help out.
Kip chirped happily at the bronze and began to chitter to him. How the day was nice. How the girl was nice. How his was nice. The little creature really was absent minded because he chirped goodbye only to go sit on Pazz's shoulder.

Wykla made a playful face at him. "So you're the reason I'm hauling water all around the Weyr." She was relieved when he took the bucket. Her hands were already hurting and she didn't want blisters.
"Well, usually the bucket full of water goes into the plant room with all the plants that need water." She moves to lead the way. With Boreal chittering in her ear she grins at Pazz. "They sure seem to get along."
Boreal nodded and cheeped. His was nice! And the boy wasn't bad either. There was lots of oil on his hide. His had plenty of meat scraps for him too. He blinked as the other bid goodbye just to go sit a short distance away. Why did he do that?

"Ah, you mean the transplants I didn't kill. I am not good at this growing stuff." He looked at Kip, who blinked at Boreal. Scratching the fellow's eyes ridges, Pazzult followed his friend. "Besides these weeds and lessons, have you had any time to yourself lately? I know I have been putting my time to good use." And with that he gave her a playful wink.
Kip chirped, asking the bronze where he had come from and then responded that meat and oil were nice. He curled his tail around Pazz's neck and mentioned how nice the water in the bucket was.
"I swear, if it wasn't for the fact that Kip hatched, I would think he landed on his head. I love the little fellow but he can't keep a thought in his head for longer than five minutes."

Wykla giggled. "Neither am I. That's why they have me hauling water. I don't much care for the dirt part either. With water I don't get too dirty." She made a face, well aware how disgusting she felt anyhow. "Well some." She gave him a sly look, "Haven't been sticking around for some of my chores."
She watches the blue amused. "Poor thing. At least the subject never gets talked to death!" Heading into the Weyr halls, she opens and closes doors for him.
Boreal trilled. He hatched here at the Weyr. His was holding a nice piece of meat and he had to have it. The water was nice, but not for them. It was getting put onto plants.

"I tell you want, let's get water these weeds and I can show you what I have been doing with my time. I think you will be pleased with it." Pazzult did his best not to slosh the water around and his shoulders were starting to ache but anything for a friend.
Kip. Having noticed the piece of meat, flopped over and started keening about how hungry he was and how empty his stomach had gotten.
"Haha, this is true! But he is mine and I happy with him. Don't worry Kip, I will feed you after we splash the plants with water." Pazzult sent him thoughts of food.

"Sounds good to me!" She opened the final door to the plant room. Pointing out which plants she'd already water, it left mainly some in the back. Her toe scuffed the floor as she watched him. "Uh.... thanks for helping Zeren. It was real nice of you."
She smiled. "I understand. I love Boreal and wouldn't trade him for anything. Say, do you think he'll let me feed him while you show me?"
Boreal apologized. The memory of food was from his hatching day.

"I don't know Zeren that well but if helping you is helping him, then sure. No problem." Pazzult moved towards the back of the room and began to carefully pour water on the delicate plants. The teen had to control how fast he poured, not wanting to drown the small weeds.
"Looking back, I wouldn't have passed up Kip even if I knew he was going to be such a chatter bug. He makes my life interesting and I am hoping to train him to fetch things and help me with my weaving." Pazzult emptied the last of the water and walked back to the front. He noticed the other empty buckets and put his away properly. Eyes twinkling, he turned to Wykla and motioned for her to follow him outside. "Wanna see what I got? It's a surprise for a friend."
Kip chirped sadly at the thought of no food. Pretending that he was suffering he went to Wykla and tried to look pitiful and sad. After all, the girl said food. He crooned and went limp, an obvious trick.

Wykla smiled. "Well, thank you anyways." She watched as he took over watering the plants. Her hands rubbed together, trying to get some of the dirt off and ease the pain from her blisters. Suddenly she felt the odd weight of two flits. "Oh! Don't worry Kip, he'll feed you. What the...?" The flit went limp and Wykla hurried to catch him. "Oh dear Pazzult," she said trying to sound serious and not giggle. "We'd better get him fed before he wastes away."
She laughed, "He'll never be able to sneak up on anyone. I'd never give up Boreal either. "He's the boy of my heart." He heard his name and cheeped. His loved him! His soft triangular head rubbed against His' cheek as he hummed happily. She giggled softly and rubbed back. Following Pazzult out of the room, she perked up curiously. "Yeah! Lets head to the kitchens. Get food for them and us, then you can show me."
"So who's it for? What's the occasion?" Wykla was insatiably curious. She loved surprises, but it was equally fun to be part of one for someone else.

Pazzult was all but laughing! With Kip flopped over on Wykla, the blue was totally playing to the crowd. The weaver boy did his best to keep a straight face. "Oh yes, we must feed him right away before he becomes nothing but skin and bones!" Kip was happy. He opened one eye and chirped at Boreal. They were going to get food from the girl and HIS BOY! Extra treats.
"He is a she. And the occassion is one I made up. Which is because this person is cheerful and good company. I had to save a whole mark to get what I needed for this." Pazz was enjoying this.

Wykla saw Pazzult trying to keep a straight face and couldn't. She started laughing uncontrollably as she barely managed to walk toward the kitchens. It was just too funny. She patted the blue. "Same on him for not feeding you." For a moment she was distracted by how different Kip felt in her hands compared to Boreal.
"Ooooooh! A girlfriend eh Pazz?" She flashed him a teasing grin. Her eyes widened at the whole mark. "Wow! A whole mark. Hmmmm lets see who it could be." Wykla pondered as she strolled next to Pazzult down the hall toward the kitchen.
Boreal didn't seem to mind His lavishing attention upon the blue. He trilled happily as his started to laugh. She did that so little in his opinion. Extra treats were a plus!

Kip could smell the food in the air and perked up. He trilled to Boreal. There should be enough for both of them!
"A girl who is a friend but more like a sister to me. She is someone we both know, very well." Oh he was enjoying trailing her along like this. They reached the kitchens and he grabbed the closest seats for them. Removing his blue, he stroked the little creature between the eyes.
A drudge came by with bowls of soup, which Pazzult inhaled deeply. "Smells good, too bad I won't get much of it. Any ideas yet?"
