So I was lurking a bit in the guild ..moping about the lack of movement but that's beside the point.
While I was reading through the Mall Rats topic I wondered, are we all just line whores? Do we swoon at the mention of escaladors being respective and Mr. Toads wild ride. The I started getting technical thinking about how I love Gilmore Girls and how those lines and Kevins lines are similar in the way you have to be "inside" and knowlegeable about the characters subject to understand. Do we like the feeling of getting the joke that not really anyone else got?.......does that make us line whores?.....eh discuss my confusion/ thinking/ jiberish if you please.

I line whore around my friends. It's always fun with them. We end up quoting Kevin Smith's movies and Eddie Izzard the most.
I think it's not so much that we like understanding a joke no one else gets, but more that we get a terrible thrill out of being able to make such sheer genius apply to our lives somehow.
I find that much of Clerks applies to my life, as of late. smile

I've found that Clerks 2 (from what I've seen through the trailers and such) applies VERY much so to me when I worked for the Don... McDon, that is... ^.^;;;

I only have one friend who likes or has even heard of Kevin Smith, sadly, so I can only line whore with him. We both line whore a lot of other movies and such a lot too, though. xD

See I'm a total quote whore and not just for Kevin Smith, though he does get high ranking, but also for the Coen Brothers, Marx Brothers and most old movies.
Quote whoring is geek code for finding out if you're in the company of fellow geeks or not. If you talk about fearing and respecting escalators or stealing monkeys and people look at you like you're nuts, clearing they're not geeks... or just uniniated ones.

I'm a line Whore for everything I like a lot. It's just that the things become so integral to you that things trigger it and it gives you a rush to be able to line whore it up. I do this all the time and it's mostly fun when other people get it.
I agree it's sorta geek code, in fact me and my friends will say at times that people who don't understand our line whoring don't speak geek. It's a good way to find someone with similar interests as you... this is why I but movie t-shirts and buttons...
