Tennant is Scottish and so is Captain Jack aka John Barrowman. So it's not like Scottish doesn't ever happen on the show. I am just not sure how a Craig Ferguson doctor would be. As for Hugh Laurie, I can't get past his comedy years, in fact I hate watching House because he isn't being funny anymore. I'd say Paul Kaye or Callum Blue for the pick.

first: Hugh Laurie is hilarious depending on your level of wit.
second: Hugh Laurie wouldn't really be in the "Doctor" category. I see him more as a temporary or reccurring companion like Jack Harkness.

Callum Blue!!! I love him in Smallville when he played Major Zod, a really famous villian from the DC Comics. I have a feeling he really has potentiasl to play the 12th Doctor. He reminds me of the ninth doctor though.
