It was certain that Fifth, being the skills teacher that he was, along with his general distrust for the human populace, wasn't going to be letting some other person teach his children. When it got to spirituality and melee classes he wouldn't have a lot of say in that, of course, but as long as he could keep them from learning things that he didn't hesitate to teach other children, that would be perfectly fine. Otherwise... well, he wouldn't really want to deal with whatever the other skills teachers may have up their sleeves for lessons. As such, he would take matters into his own hands, and do what he could to make his kids more manageable.

Much to his own chagrin, in order to keep Gabriel away from the creeper who was honing in on him and giving Fifth a time to teach that same creeper a lesson, Fifth had been forced to rely on Cat for baby-sitting service. Of course, even Gabriel hadn't been a fan of this idea, but when it came down to it, now that the boys were as old as they were, Fifth just couldn't keep them with him at all times. They were too big for that.

So, after cleaning up from previous lessons and other work that he'd been doing earlier in the day, Fifth was simply waiting for his children to be dropped off back at the Facility. Honestly, he didn't know where else Cat worked that meant that he couldn't bring the kids as soon as Fifth was done with work, but whatever. More time for video games, right?

Cat didn't think that he had ever been so happy to see the gates of the Facility in his life. Although he had readily accepted Fifth's request to watch the twins, as he'd also grown fond of them, he hadn't been prepared to handle both of them and a class full of rowdy and disrespectful teenagers. Between those two forces, the hippogriff was nearing his wit's end. He did his best to hide his relief as he approached the door to Fifth's classroom and knocked twice, calling through the wood. "Fifth! It's me, I'm here. With children."

In contrast to the silver man, Damien had quite enjoyed his time at Cat's other job. He could now understand Cat's insistence on him going to school; he was a teacher! And a math teacher, no less. That warmed a bit of Damien's stomach; he'd listened quite intently to what Cat had been teaching (more than the kids that were supposed to be learning, in some cases), and although he'd understood little of it, it had all sounded very good and intellectual. Therefore he was silent as Cat knocked on his father's door, scribbling nonsense equations into a stolen notebook. His tongue poked out from between his lips as he thought hard, tail flicking amiably behind him.

Gabriel, predictably, had probably been more hard to deal with than he ever had in his entire life. He hated being in that stupid room with all of those stupid kids!! Well... okay, so that wasn't true. Actually, a good portion of it wasn't true; he'd been much more irritating in the time of his life where he was addicted to crying. However, he certainly hadn't made work any easier for Cat that day. Instead, he had positively basked in the attention that he was given by many of the females that attended the silvery man's school-place, enjoying how cute they thought he was as well as how much they liked his hair or his wings or everything else from top-to-bottom. If he had cared, he would have noticed the fact that he'd managed to keep almost all of them from finishing their class work...

...but he didn't.

Regardless of how much fun he'd had that day, he was still excited to be back with his dad, and ran through the doors as soon as they arrived, tackling the gryphon's legs at full force. Fifth winced slightly at the sudden impact, smiling wryly and ruffling the boy's hair. "Have a good time, Gabby? Cat didn't treat you too rough, did he?"

"Nuh-uh, but hith houthe wathn't fun, but Daddy, you should'a theen, there were tho many pretty girlth there!!' he shouted excitedly, spiked tail whipping to either side behind him as he gazed up at his father happily, even as Fifth gave him a rather strange look. Raising one golden eyebrow, he looked toward Cat and smirked softly. "Teaching my son to be a womanizer, Cat?" he asked curiously, sarcasm evident in his voice. Well wasn't that interesting; for the first time in years, Fifth was joking with Cat.

Cat rolled his eyes as Gabriel darted into Fifth's arms and declared his house 'unfun'. The hippogriff hadn't expected Gabriel to enjoy being around him, though, so it wasn't like he was hurt. Ushering Damien forward gently, who was walking slowly due to his focus on his notebook, he looked up with the perfect deadpan expression at Fifth's jesting question. "Yes." Feeling bold, he added a wink onto the end of it, just because he'd had a rough day and was tired of being proper, and then began to make for his classroom. "So, if I'm not needed any longer, I'll be in my classroom for a bit, and then I'll be home. Bye, kids. See you around, Fifth." He raised a hand in farewell, and then made his way to his classroom to teach today's spawn. He proved very distracted for the rest of the day, however, reeling over the fact that Fifth was comfortable enough around him to not only trust his children to him, but also to joke with him. Madness.

"Bye, Cat," Damien replied, looking up quickly from his notebook to wave at Cat's retreating back. Once the silver man was gone, Damien looked at his golden counterpart, speaking softly. "Cat's house was fun for me. I liked his books, and he teaches math really good. Did you know that, Dad?" he asked innocently of Fifth, unaware that he was likely reopening mental scars that would rather have stayed closed. Without really waiting for an answer, he looked around the classroom, having only been there a few times, and never in recent memory. "Why are we here instead of home, Dad? Do you hafta teach someone first?"

Despite his own joking, the wink from his forcibly-forgotten mentor was something that Fifth hadn’t expected, and a slight scowl overcame his face, something that was only there to try to make up for the gentle flush that rose up from beneath his golden-tanned face. “Yeah, yeah, get back to your teaching of kids and other such creatures,” he replied in a faintly mocking manner as he waved dismissively at Cat’s retreating back, every part of his mind trying to will the blood away from his cheeks; it was Damien who managed to do that for him, however.

“Yes, Damien. I know. Glad you had fun,” he damn-near snarled in response, flickers of memories from his childhood overwhelming the rest of the thoughts that should have been inhabiting his mind, such as those of the class that he was supposed to be teaching. Gabriel, his complaint now made, had run off into the corner of the room where he usually was, back to preening in the mirror that his father had tacked up on the nearest wall. When Damien spoke again, however, Fifth’s mind was at least slightly cleared from what his mind had previously been caught up with. Instead, it turned back to the task at hand.

“Actually, I do have a student to teach - two, as a matter-of-fact; you and your brother. Before you object, you are required to take a skill class before you grow, and I would rather teach the two of you myself than trusting it to one of the other teachers - I’m fairly sure that you’d rather deal with me than a stranger who doesn’t know how the two of you work, am I right? Gabriel, come over here,” Fifth explained, then calling to the more obtrusive of his twins. Gabriel, as he was interrupted while in front of a mirror, pouted to his reflection before hop-skipping off to stand in front of his father, where Fifth had gestured for both of the twins to stand.

“Gabriel, what I have for you to do… will probably drive you a little bit batty, but if your patience DNA is anything to go off of, you should be able to do it properly. It’s a challenge. Come this way; Damien, you stay where you are while I instruct your brother,” Fifth said, taking Gabriel’s hand gently and tugging him over to the pile of pillows, taking one of them and tossing it to the middle of the floor, which is where they proceeded to after that. “Alright, take a seat there, cross your legs, lay your hands on your knees in whatever way is the most comfortable to you, and close your eyes. You can’t fall asleep. You’re not allowed to squirm around. You’re not allowed to get up and walk around. You’re not allowed to speak, to open your eyes, or anything that isn’t just sitting, calming yourself entirely, and clearing your mind to the best of your ability.”

By the end of the miniature lecture, Gabriel was gaping. He had to… to sit?! Just, just sit, and was expected to do nothing else?! Really?!! But his dad had said, if he didn’t do this, he wouldn’t grow. If he didn’t grow, then he would never be as big as Ilyrosa. If he wasn’t as big as Ilyrosa, he would never have a chance with her. So, bitter and grumbling softly under his breath, he took his seat, laying his hands palm-down on his knees, and closed his eyes. He hoped this wouldn’t last long…

“Now, your turn,” he said, turning to Damien after smiling softly at how well he would distract Gabriel for this period of time. “On the contrary, you’re going to be learning to do something that’ll use quite a bit more strength and activity, something which I’m sure you’ll enjoy, whether now or when you’re older; you’re going to learn to hover.”

Damien flinched lightly when his father snarled at him, but otherwise showed no reaction expect to glance in mild confusion at the door through which Cat had left. He had always known that relations between his mentor and his father were tense; not only were they complete opposites, but they seemed to fight whenever they were near each other. From his quiet observing, he'd gathered that they had known each other a long time ago; he wondered what had happened to make them hate each other so much...

When Fifth told him that they were the students to be taught, Damien blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected this; for some reason, he'd always seen skills classes as being taught to spawn older than him. It must have escaped his notice that he was that age now. However, thinking about it he didn't really mind. Better his father than anyone else. He nodded in response to his father's command and stood rooted to the spot, grimacing sympathetically towards Gabriel when he heard the lecture. He could never imagine sitting still for so long, but then again, he was the opposite of Patience. Even considering it, his muscles began to twitch with nervous energy. No, best leave that to the experts.

If he was surprised at being taught, Damien was downright shocked at his lesson material. "H-Hovering?" he asked incredulously, gaping at his father in a very similar way to Gabriel. "With- These things?!" His minute headwings fluttered experimentally, and the small amount of strength they had did nothing to alleviate Damien's skepticism. "Are you sure, Dad? That... Sounds a little impossible."

"Wha--?! But he--"

"Quiet, Gabriel."

"But that's not fa--"

"Quiet, Gabriel."

"But that's so much coo--"

"Gabriel, if you don't close your mouth now, you'll never grow again." Despite the fact that it was an outright lie, Gabriel believed him and shut his mouth, though his envy was obvious. Sitting still versus hovering? Yes, even Fifth could understand how those things were completely different and, yes, being able to hover was much cooler than being able to sit for hours on end without moving a muscle.

"Nope, don't worry, I'm sure of it. It's more of a magic thing than it is related to them actually being able to support your weight; your angel, Cestoloria, can do the same thing. Now, just... actually, I have no idea how I can really teach this, soo..." he grabbed a chair, pulled it over and sat in it with his chest against the backing, pulling how his trusty game box. "Flutter those little wings of your's and think light thoughts."

Damien watched awkwardly from the sidelines as Gabriel tried to talk his way out of such a terrible task, and he openly sympathized when he was given no alternative. As much as the idea was awful to Gabriel, the Wrath child couldn't even imagine being able to do that. It was likely, he thought, that he would explode. His eyes flicked upwards towards the ceiling, a silent thank-you to whatever benevolent deity was taking special care of him.

When Fifth explained the nature of his skill, Damien's eyebrows rose ever-so-slightly with skepticism. Yes, the spawn and their celestial ancestors could do amazing things - create fire, exude calmness, fight with impossible savagery - but he never had any inclination to think that he could fly. Flying was for people with larger wings, like Aludra's sister for instance, or that purple lady who helped him and his brother when they were lost. His small golden wings fluttered bashfully; they certainly didn't match up in comparison...

But there was no point in not trying. Giving Fifth a brisk nod, he adjusted himself slightly, casting nervous glances around the room. He couldn't believe he was about to try something so foolish... But, seeing as Gabriel was busy trying to sit still with his eyes closed and Dad was entertained by that ridiculous ADD game, there was no one to watch him, so he dared to risk it. His eyes fell behind lids, and he tried in exasperation to think of "light" thoughts. His golden wings fluttered as hard as they could, and after a moment it was true that he couldn't tell if he was still on the ground. "So... Am I doing it?" he called out to the room at large.

From what Fifth could tell, his plan was working thus far. Emerald green eyes flicked up from beneath bushy gold-brown eyebrows every now and again, but otherwise pasted themselves to the game sitting in front of the careless guardian, one ear focused securely on any sound coming from Gabriel, who he was well aware was already struggling. But, it seemed to help Damien that Fifth wasn't looking at him, and Gabriel was required to keep his eyes closed ( or at least his mouth shut ). Thusly, the perfect time to get a humility kid to actually try to do anything.

When his attention was actually requested, Fifth lifted his eyes over the game system, looking down at his son's feet. As he expected for the boy's first try, his feet were firmly rooted to the Earth, small headwings barely fluttering. Briefly, the gryphon raised an eyebrow. "Nope. Think more light thoughts. And... big thoughts, for your wings. Flap them like you're a dragon or me or something with an equally giant wing-span, and imagine they are, as I'm well aware that you're busy telling yourself the opposite," the man retorted easily as his eyes went back to the screen, where pixels danced before them.
