“Zalle? Tell me, all these years you have been out here alone in the forest, have you ever let anyone get away? I do not mean escape, have you ever let someone go. Decided, you do not want to cause them harm?”

Asked a mystical voice, one that had became a very familiar one over the last couple of days. Zalle looked down at her companion with many tails before looking back out down the forest path. Had she ever let one get away? Her mind flashed back in time, she could remember his face, the only one she actually every helped out the woods. It had been years since she had thought about him... many many years.

“Why ask me such a silly question, why should I let anyone get away? That goes against everything I do, why would one person be different to the many others I heave lead here to die?”

She stated bluntly looking down at Taiyou once more before she began to walk down the path. The small fox like Esper looked at her, raising a eyebrow a sinister smirk coming onto his lips. Haha! Something he could use! He ran to keep up with her, a unusually soft tone to his words.

“You right, you would need a good reason. Tell me Zalle what reason would be good enough for you to show mercy and kindness? You would have not reacted so strongly if you had not, a simple no would have been more suitable.”

He asked, Zalle gritted her teeth and stopped in her tracks, her eyes looking into that of her new Companion, giving a glare of frustration to say the least. Why was he being so nosy!? How was he able to hit buttons she had long forgotten she had... that boy... he must be a man now? So much could have happened to him... yet... she was still here. She was still where she was the day she met him...

“Drop it Taiyou. I did once and look where it got me, nowhere, I showed, as you put it ‘mercy and kindness’ however I ended up with the same result as I did when I show vengeance and cruelty, back here on my own, he still left and I could not. So please that’s enough.”

She snapped, looking to the side. Taiyou’s blue eyes scanned her, he could tell he was making her uncomfortable however that was his plan, he had hit a open wound, one he might be able to use to benefit himself. He had finally done it... found a reason to make her leave this place. His plan could be set into motion... finally.

“Now Zalle, I am sorry my dear I did not mean to upset you... I have to ask the question though... if you let this person go, why you stayed here baffles me. Think dearest, maybe you got the same result... because it is you who has not allowed things to change.”

Zalle glared down at him, a look of shock hit hear eyes, his words echoing in her mind. Was he right? Since she had summoned Taiyou he really had turned her whole world upside down. He had given her power... and he had pushed her more than anyone else ever had. Even though he was a nasty little bugger at times, she was so desperate for company she did not care. She felt a strange affection towards him... one that she could not explain.

“I... What was that?”

She asked turning around as she heard footsteps approaching. The Esper came to stand right next to her feet. Damn interruptions, he almost had her! Zalle looked around for the source of the sound, green eyes acting like those of a hawk.

“Who is there!?”

Isis yawned and stretched as she walked through the woods. It was a bit unsettling, being in this place, but all and all it wasn't that bad. Annoying with the way things all looked the same half the time, but not bad. She knew she just needed to keep going, confidently, and eventually she would find what she was looking for. It wasn't as if she was trying to get out, she was tracking, so for the moment, it seemed the woods were merciful. "This place is quiet creepy..." Onxon said, the Sky Spirit materializing beside her. Isis raised an eyebrow and looked over her shoulder at him, a smirk pulling on her lips "You wouldn't be scared now would you Onxon?" she teased him and laughed at his "dignified" snort. "There really isn't anything to be scared of." the large red Wolfos said with a roll of her eyes and dance merrily out of the way of Onxon's swooping form.

The trio continued walking, Isis bending over now and again to check a track or letting Baladeva sniff around and lead them in what the wolfos thought was the right direction.
Uneventful, that was what it just so happened to be. Isis didn't mind, but she was starting to get a little antsy, boredness she told herself, but really it was wanting to be done with this job and back where is was warm, the sun shone, and the trees didn't look so foreboding. A few times she thought she heard voices, and her hand drifted down to the concealed weapon at her hip, then someone called out to them and she looked in surprise at Onxon and Baladeva. She didn't think there would be anyone else wandering the woods...
"Isis and companions, who are you?"

Zalle looked on, her purple hair flowing way past here her waist began, hanging down from that witches hat of hers, putting one boot in front of another she made her way over to the intruders so she was close enough to get a better look, however not close enough for them to catch her in a attack without some warning. Taiyou followed her, walking by her side. He hated people picking him up and he had told Zalle from day one he did not want to be treated like a pet. She held her flute by her side before she moved her arms to her chest to fold them, raising an eyebrow.

"I am not happy, you should not be here, these are not your woods. This is the realm of the ones which where once here but now lost. The forest legendary for soul stealing, so I am guessing you are either very desperate or very misinformed."

She stated, she was in fact a little surprised she had the Espers with her, however at the same time she was not going to let that show in her face. Zalle was annoyed. The woods where the closest thing she had to a home and they had been for many many years, so she felt very controlling over them, she decided who came here and nothing annoyed her more than older people coming and wondering through where they did not belong. Zalle was stuck at the age of around 14. Grownups and older children could not be turned into Skull Children, so seeing them walk through the maze of trees so freely irked her a little, she did not see it as fair, she could never reach the age of the girl and it filled her with jealousy. It is why she sometimes lead older creatures into the blackness, show them a thing or two about her home, watch them starve, ward others off of coming.

"Hmm, I am Taiyou - This is Zalle. I have to admit, even though I do not feel as strong as my companion about the situation, I am also curious to why you would come here? It’s not exactly a place for a day out, ma'am."

Stated the black and blue creature, standing forward a little and examining the other Espers that were around. Taiyou was cunning and even though he had only been summoned to this world a week ago if not a little more, he was not stupid, he was not going to let his guard down. Especially when such forces where in the mix, no Esper was weak and two could be a handful if everything went downhill. He did not care much for the new creatures (if anything he was annoyed they had interrupted his plan), even more so than Zalle. However he thought she was a little naive to act up, no matter how much it bothered her. He felt like he had to be the voice of reason, to stop her from getting into a confrontation she could not handle. She was no good to him dead.

"You are too soft worded Taiyou, if they want to get themselves killed in these woods let them, who cares why they are here. They are now, and if they knew anything they would know the woods will not let you escape, unless you have a guide who knew how its mind works. Good luck in finding such a person."

Isis looked at the skull kid in surprise, she knew they existed and resided here, but she had never seen one, nor had she expected to see one. What surprised her even more was the Keaton by her side. A skull kid with an Esper... that could be quiet problematic. Skull kid's were notorious for causing trouble and here was one with an extra hand... well.. paw. Isis looked over the blue and black fox like creature and dipped her head momentarily in respect. As far as her experience went, Espers generally liked it when you showed that you respected them. And it wasn't as if she had a quarrel with these two, she was simply doing a job. "We are not here to do you any harm, nor are we here to stir up trouble. We are simply looking for someone who has tried to take refuge from the woods." Isis replied addressing both their remarks.

Isis watched the two and she let her eyes narrow momentarily at the girls last comment. Insulting a persons intelligence wasn't very nice and they had done nothing to merit the insult. Baladeva looked up at her as if sensing the change of mood in her companion and spoke up, her own soft voice directed at the two strangers.
"We are aware of the dangers of the lost woods, girl, and we haven't come here to cause you harm or mischief. We aren't trying to find our way out, getting lost is part of what we need to do, and when the time comes to leave we will deal with the problem then."

”It is amusing that you think I am scared of you.”

Zalle stated, narrowing her eyes and putting a hand on her hip. She might look like a child but she was no means a push over. She had the home advantage and her many years of training plus the powers of Taiyou. She was not scared and it irked her that the other party seemed to think they could cause her harm. She would like to see them try. She exchanged a glance with Taiyou before the creature looked back at the new comers. His mystic voice sounding once more.

”Hmm, Well whoever you came after is as good as dead if not worse. These woods do things to you, they course you to see things, all your senses will betray you as well as your own vision and maybe after a while your sanity will fail too, even the strongest minds have snapped like twigs here, it is not worth you getting killed for a dead man. Zalle will lead you out; the woods cannot break what it has already broken.”

Zalle came to these woods chasing after someone too, someone she held very dear to her heart. Being turned into a monster because of a loved one is one thing, if you gave up your life for a stranger or a enemy it would be many times worse. Her eyes widened as she walked to stand alongside her fighting partner. Why did he want to help these strangers so much? She could not help but feel like he was up to something; however she could not put her finger on it.

”Like hell I am.”

She stated quite simply, looking the other way and pouting in a tantrum kind of manor. She was not going to do anything she did not want to and she was not happy that Taiyou was making promises for her in the slightest. Taiyou smirked, looks like these strangers could help in his plan after all – what seemed like bad timing might actually be a blessing in disguise. His voice suddenly went very soft once more.

”Zalle, remember what we were talking about, it’s time to change. If you do this then just maybe you will be able to return to the one you let go. You cannot go on like you are forever... can you?”

She turned to look at him again, her eyes where in a state of shock and she looked to the side if not a little saddened. He had a point? Maybe it was time for a change... she sure would not mind finding out what happened to that guy, she sure as hell did not want to relive the same day over and over like she had felt she was doing. Damn it. This was a lot to take in... However if it would help her in the long run maybe mercy was a doorway into a new chapter.

”I-... fine.”

She began and turned around to look at the other rabble once more. Walking forward them, her hips swaying side to side as she did. She looked the girl in the eyes before she walked past her, looking over her shoulder and stopped to say what she had to. Taiyou pounced and jogged to catch up with her at the place she was when her passé holted.

”Okay well, here is your choice, you can carry on forward straight to the Gates of Hades or you can come with me. Before you make your choice just think, what makes you that special? What makes it so you will not suffer the fate of the sorry souls who came here before? Do not let pride and overconfidence kill you. We have quite a journey ahead.”

Isis watched the interaction between the Keaton Esper and the girl. Him pretty much telling her what she was going to do. She hadn't seen an Esper do this, not until now anyways. Usually the pactmakers acted as friends with their bonded, or as masters, but not the other way around. What are you playing at.. she thought as she looked around for Onxon.
He was no where to be found, but that didn't worry her. He liked to pop in and out randomly from spirit to solid forms and she found it funny that her floating friend of the air was embuded with magic that had primarily to do with the earth. Vines were easiest, he would say, but he had shown her that entangling someone in air was also possible, if a little more time consuming. At least that was what Onxon told her anyways. Isis looked at them, then back at Baladeva who gave the faintest shake of her head, then back at the skull kid and Keaton
"I appreciate the offer, but I'll have to continue straight towards the gates of hades, I cannot return without at least proof that the boy is dead, if not with the boy himself." that was a lie, she only needed proof that he was dead, although she had told her employer wandering into the dark woods was proof enough, he insisted and more than once she wondered if perhaps it was she that was to be killed in this hellish place and not some foolish man.

Isis looked at the purple haired girl and frowned at her words, biting back a remark of anger. Isis had suffered long before she ever came to this place and she would continue to suffer long after she left. Her entire family dying was suffering enough, not knowing where her twin was was suffering still and the killing of others was just the topping on the cake. Isis was spared so she could continue to bring grief and pain to others, the forest had led her to Zalle because it knew what she was and reveled in the fact that she would continue causing her own brand of suffering to the people if she were to live.

"Do "Then you are more of a food than I first thought, very well, I will be expecting to find your body very soon. All I can do now is hope the woods kills you quickly, I would be lying if I said I did, it’s always so much fun to see people suffer."

She stated quite coldly. She had offered her a very valuable gift indeed and throwing it back in her face was not only foolish but quite rude. When the time came when she did need her knowledge of the woods to escape, Zalle doubted she would be so willing to help so willingly. She would have to come up with a pretty good offer. Zalle continued her walk the little kitsune like creature walking after her until he was by her side. His big blue eyes looked up at her, she stared down out of the corner of her eye before her attention was once again directed to the path she was doing down.

"Do not give me that look, I am not going to bang my head again a wall for a cause that does not benefit me, she made her choice, now she can live with the consequences - I am not going to lose sleep."

She stated, a little peeved but not much more than usual. Zalle was a very childish character and she never seemed to feel emotions in small doses. They always came on strong and they could change very quickly. I guess at the age her body was stuck meant she would suffer from hormones for the rest of her life. She did not even understand what was going on with her. Could she have children? Could she die? Was she already dead? She did not know all she did know for sure is that she had not changed at all since she came to bare this mask on her face.

"I did not say anything Zalle. Anyways we have more important things to do my dear, like continue with your training."

Taiyou had not accepted that when blessings came – they came obviously; even though he thought the other party might be some use to him he plan was proven ineffective. He would have to come up with some other way to lead Zalle out of these woods. Today was not a total waste though, he found out about this boy that seemed to have some affect over her. He wanted to pry more – he was sure that this figure in her life was the way to convince her to leave – to get stronger. It was coming together slowly, perfection cannot be rushed.

The two continued down the path, soon disappearing out of sight, heading towards their usual training grounds.

Isis stood where she was and watched the pair leave, sighing at the mess the two had made of the tracks she had been following. "How odd... I never expected to see a skull kid with an esper." Isis said as Baladeva began sniffing around the area again to pick up where the scent led. "Well it can't be that uncommon." the red wolfos said as she snuffled around "Probably just not seen as often, since they are always in the woods. I've found the scent and the tracks over here." Baladeva said and looked back at Isis.
"That girl was our ticket out." Onxon remarked nonchalantly as he materialized beside her, startling Isis. A knife found it's way to her hand so quickly it was almost like magic and she stopped just short of slashing into the wind guardian. "You can't startle me like that!!" she said flustered and the green esper chuckled wickedly. "You'll get used to it." Onxon really did like surprising her, it sharpened her reaction time too. Most foes you could hear, Onxon you couldn't.

Isis sighed and slid her knife into it's concealed sheath at her waist. it wasn't the only place she had blades hidden, but it was the most convenient. She crouched down and looked at the tracks, verifiying that they were indeed the ones of the man she was searching for before they were intercepted. "I know she was our way out." Isis said as they walked and sighing for a moment. "But you know the rules, or at least you should by now. I have to bring back proof otherwise I would be no more than a petty thief." Yes, Isis was a thief of peoples lives, not their money. She shrugged and began following the trail, letting Baladeva lead this time as she thought over things she had found out recently. The whole reason she had even agreed to this job was that the man claimed to have information about the horse thieves from long ago. She had doubted him at first, until he began showing her bit by bit how he knew who she was and what she was looking for. What she had become, which suited his interests perfectly. He had a man he wanted dead, and she wanted information that he had. Worked out wonderfully.

It was about a week since Zalle had seen the travellers and she had long put them out of memory. She presumed them dead by now. During this week her Esper had been prodding her more and more for information about this boy she had let escape however all he got out of her was he was from a place named Hyrule. Taiyou knew nothing of this place, however now he had a destination goal, who knows what wondrous things he could learn in this kingdom.

Zalle was playing a tune on her flute, her eyes scanning the landscape, it was a beautiful place however she had been her too long to admire it. The novelty wore off very quickly and everything that was beautiful now just seemed very annoying. That happens when you see the same setting day in and day out. She sighed and rested the flute on her lap, she had been thinking a lot about what her friend had been saying to her lately who knows... maybe it was time for a change. However she knew she could not go back home and she had no clue in hell where Hyrule was...

“What is wrong my dear? You do not seem too happy?”

Taiyou asked walking over to lay by her side, his large eyes looking up at her. Zalle put on a gentle smile and stroked her companion softly down his spine. Even though he did not really like physical contact he would put up with it for now. Maybe all his work was beginning to pay off. He had noticed she had been thinking a lot lately and it could only possibly be about his proposals. She looked out across the land once more took in a deep breath.

“I want to get out of here Taiyou, I cannot put up with this place a minute longer, nothing I do seems to fill this void that is inside my heart – so I need to find something that will. If you never came here, I think I would have died alone in this place... now I know, that’s exactly what I do not want to do. I want to find someone who knows more about my kind... and I want to find him, make sure he made good that life I gave him.”

She stated, a determined look on her face, she did not know what she would find yet at the moment anything would be better than this... she just knew it. Taiyou stayed by her side, a small yet satisfied smirk came onto his lips – he had won it sees. Now she just needed the final boot. She lifted her instrument to her lips once more, playing a very calm melody.

#5cc2a9-Onxon #01028e-Isis #9d0919-Baladeva

Isis sighed in frustration. A week, it had been a whole week since she had entered the forest, what she came for rested in a bag at her waist that thumped lightly against her thigh every time she took a step. It was getting ridiculous, she was worried and Onxon hadn't shown his face for the last two days, which only concerned her more. She sighed and sat down, looking at Baladeva who only shrugged her shoulders. The Esper had been talking less and less, actually, silence had become the normal between the trio and that was starting to get on her nerves as well. She was on edge, which was probably why Onxon left her side, when she was on edge she was dangerous, prone to lashing out and striking at little to no provoking. The last thing the air guardian probably wanted was her to nail him with a knife or blow for startling her.

Her head whipped upwards, mimicking the motion of the red wolfos, at the sound of a flute playing. A brief glance told her that Baladeva had heard it as well and it was a safe bet it wasn't her imagination. Didn't that skull kid have a flute? Well.. yeah, but most skull kids seemed to carry some sort of instrument, luring people to their doom and such usually required more than a beautiful voice... "Come on Baladeva, lets see if we can't track down that sound." She got up and began at a jog, really wanting to find the sound, just to at least figure out if it was a way out. All that could happen was she get more lost, which she already was, so there wasn't that much to lose.

Zalle opened her eyes and started to move in the direction of the nose, putting down her flute and curiously yet slowly approaching the sound of footsteps and rustling branches. She stopped playing her melody and soon enough a familiar face came out of the woods. She tilted her head, her eyes widening with shock before she covered her mouth with her hand and let out a small laugh.

“Oh, Spirits! You are still here! Found what you where looking for yet? Haha, oh so funny.”

She teased flicking her hair; the fox like creature pouted and glared over, why is it this girl insisted in showing up every time he had made some kind of break through with Zalle? He got up and wondered over to stand next to her. Bowing his head once at the strangers, he was quite impressed that they had lasted this long but by the looks of things they where no near finding the way out to say this part of the woods was actually a lot deeper than where they had originally met.

“It’s a surprise to see you again miss, you look a little distressed.”

Isis slowed to a halt and looked at the pair, an amused smile coming to rest on her face now as well. She knew why the girl was laughing, and she every right too. Here stood the people who refused her help, even if the reason was valid, and now those particular people looked frazzled and, as the fox put it, distressed. "Yes, still here and hopelessly lost. But we found what we came for." She patted the rounded bag hanging from her waist and looked at Zalle, then at Taiyou. "Hopelessly lost is an understat-" the wind guardian yelped as the still on edge Isis jumped, startled by his sudden appearance, and nailed him with her knife that had once again mysteriously made it into her hand. She just barely nicked him as his reflexes were amazing, but she looked over at him in surprise and then apology as he glared at her sullenly. "Onxon... Sorry about that..." she said, biting her lip before remembering the other two people standing in front of her.

“Well good luck, you’re going the right way – if you are still heading towards the gates of Hades that is.”

She whipped a small tear from her eye and jumped up, pulling herself up onto a tree branch, her arms resting behind her head like she was going to take a nap. Taiyou watched on at the little scene which had accrued between Isis and her Esper, looking a little confused. The something sprung into his head, maybe a blessing can come in disguise after all, he had been arguing with himself if it could or not... maybe this girl had the answer.

“Do you know of a place called Hyrule?”

He asked, Zalle opened a eye from up on the branch looking at her fuzzy companion, what was he up to? She wondered leaning up slightly. Taiyou looked back up at her and could read the confusion on her face. He saw no reason why they should stay around – he was not going to give Zalle a chance to change her mind, the faster he could get her to that place the better. For he was sure as soon as she left the forest she would never want to return, especially if she found this prince of hers. That was only the beginning of his plan, Hyrule was a reason to leave – making a name for the two was the overall goal and he was sure that was not going to happen in this place. He was going to make sure Zalle became a great sorceress; she would achieve things she only dreamed off. He was not going to have his partner be any less than amazing because he thought he deserved nothing else.

“If so then I see no reason why we cannot scratch each other’s back so to speak.”

Isis raised an eyebrow and looked at the fox, ignoring the girl up in the tree as easily as she ignored them. Did she know of a place called Hyrule? Who didn't know of Hyrule? Was that an actual question or was this fox just being... then again... If the Esper was "born" in these woods then he would have no knowledge of Hyrule. Isis turned to look up at the girl in the tree. Would the girl not know where it was? She looked young, but not that young...

"Yes, it's my destination if I ever make it out of these damned woods." she said, her sweeter nature dampened by the fact that she was lost, hungry, and for a day there she had thought she was losing her mind. If these two wanted to go to Hyrule then why not? If they could show her the way out of the woods then she could defiantly show them the way to Hyrule.

“Well then that settles it, Zalle to the exit please.”

The fox stated, looking up at her in the tree. Zalle almost fell of the branch in shock, however she regained her balance her eyes widening, and her voice a mixture of both annoyance and disbelief. When did he start telling her what to do! Had he not heard what she had just said!

“W-what! What just a minute I did not agree to this!”

She complained shaking her head and jumping down from the tree, her hands on her hips, shooting daggers to the Esper with her eyes.

“Zalle we have a guide to Hyrule, whats the point in wasting another day here?”

He stated, his voice firm but his words reason filled.

“B-but you mean right now. I- ... Grr. For the love of... fine.”

She was scared, she had been in this place for so long she could not imagine life outside it. She could not remember the last time she was in a real house, the last time she walked down a street. What where people going to think of her? She could not stand it again, the way her mother reacted to her, she never felt so rejected – her heart just could not bare it. She remained silent. He was right, she said she would go however she was going to put it up, biting the bullet might be her best option. It would be worth it...if it turned out right – if she could find a happier place out there somewhere... she marched off expecting them to follow.

“Ignore Zalle, she will calm down as time goes on, you have to understand that many years on your own does things to you.”

He sighed and smiled at Isis before he began to walk after his partner. He did not expect her to understand, a decade without a single friend, without hardly sort of contact, it was unimaginable to most – it had made Zalle loose a part of her mind, one he was not too sure could return to her.
