Anyone have a guide, or advice to make hair look like Shirely Temple's? (kinda thick, mid back) By far my most favorite little-girl style I want to wear it with my dress... Cute little ringlets. =)
Also, what is everyone's favorite make up style?

Ringlets.. for that perfection you can buy a ringlet curls wig at cosmates... blaugh I'm not sure how to do the ringlets. >>; I'm sure it probably involves a curling iron and uhm stuff..

As for makeup.. I like a real natural look with not so much makeup on the eyes, just a soft eye shadow. On the lips I like a light bright pink and matching blush on the cheeks, but very light. Oh yeah and over my lips I constantly apply chapstick from the chapstick brand. Omg, it's awesome.
Here is a picture of my make up if you haven't already seen. Make-up face! o:

I go for more of the angelic look because it looks better on me. Too much make up doesn't really look good on me. I do like to combind dark lolita with sweet lolita but I always keep the makeup sweet and natural.

My mom can make these cute little ringlets... She uses a ringlet curling iron. Heh. If you lived in my area, you could come to me. I would do it for you. [plots adding that to her store when she opens]

To make 'ringlets' (I always called them spirals... I do this to my hair often), you can put curlers in your hair overnight. Or use a spiraler. It's like a curling iron, except the top looks similar to this: http://www.stendahlander.com/bilder/erbjudande/spiraler.jpg I could take a pic of mine, if you'd like. It works really well.

For make-up, I like to go with thin eyeliner, halfway on the bottom lid, and all the way on the top lid. Eyeshadow depends on my outfit, usually none. For lipstick, I like pink or a lighter red. Sometimes just natural though with a clear lipgloss over it for taste and shinier appearance. ^-^

to get that kind of hair, maybe you can even use extensions, so you wont' damage your own hair that much. Plus it's easier.

My hair can take a beating. Anyway, extensions = $$. I'd rather spend that on fabric. =)

Rag curlers don't work verk well for me. I probably just messed up. I'll post pictures later.

There are cheap, do it yourself hair extentions.

If you can find yourself a few black girls, they'll know what to do.
My sister has short hair, and she has them applied all of the time. Some kind of crochet method.... Anyway, it takes forever, but it's pretty cheap, I guess.

My mom says the hair costs about $16 USD, and she buys about two or three packs....

Never mind. That's not that cheap. You have to keep them out of a lot of water and everything, but they look natural.

Then...Do it the old fashion way! X3
I have really long hair, past my back; so my hair is much too heavy for curly irons, or half hour curlers. Well, that and the fact that my hair rarely holds any curls.
My mom had alway called it, "Putting rags in your hair"
Wait untill your hair is -almost dry. Just slightly damp.
Then take some scrap fabric, or an old t-shirt from a thift shop and cut it in to strips. I would assume like an inch and a half wide and five inches long.
From there take strips of your hair, and the 'rags' and roll them up in your hair starting from the bottom.
Tie a secure but easy to pull out knot and let your hair dry overnight.
Take them out in the mornng and you should have ringlets if you take them out carefully. X3

I hope that was said well enough.

I think the best way is still to get a wig.
1. You can reuse them
2. Your own hair wont risk being damage.
3. Though it might be costly, it would only price once, if it's your hair you'd have to redo it over.

make-up wise.
it depends on what I wear usually. if I wore a cute lori dress I would usually use a light pink blush and frosty white for eye-shadow with eyeliners only on top, because i find that my eyes look kind of heavy if I do it for both top and bottom. If I was dress as a rag-doll lori, I would put eye-liners on and smudge it so that I get a smokey look. Because of my tanned skin, I dont really look good with red lipstick, I'd usually stick to baby pink, or peach coloured lipstick with a layer of gloss User Image

sorry to necro this thread...but I didn't want to start a new one....though I guess this post doesn't exactly fit the point of the thread...sigh...oh well.. please forgive me...

My hair's normally pretty short, but I haven't cut it in a while and now it's starting to get a bit longer.

I was thinking it might be cool to put it into four pigtails. I've seen a manga with a character with this hairstyle and it looked pretty cool...though it was on a female character

um anyway...what do you think? good idea? or should I do something else....like cut it... any ideas?

For ringlets this is how I do it:

My hair is short...*attempts to find picture*

^ Thats the style I have....only its a bit longer since I havent had a haircut in awhile.

The other day my boyfriend borrowed my hair straightener (because his hair is wavy and he wanted to spike it punk rock style for a concert) and I didnt get it back for the next morning and school, so I decided to make my hair curly. My hair is naturally curly, and I couldve just done my hair, and spritzed it with water, and it wouldve curled itself, however, that looks a little messy. My mother used to have permed hair, so we've always had curling irons all over the house, so I found the smallest one we had, and let it warm up while I did the rest of my hair. I curled it by taking a small sections of my hair, then twisting it onto the curling iron, starting at the base of the curling iron, and twisting my hair up to the tip of the iron, so all my hair was touching part of the metal. I let it heat for about 30 seconds per curl (my hair was not wet by the way). I slowly opened the iron, pulling it downwards as I opened it so the curls came down with it. At first it looked crappy, but then I got the hang of it. Unless you have a professional curling iron (unlike I did) youll need to hairspray each curl. Now, the iron didnt get very hot, so it didnt last past P.E. as my second class, but then I just wet it, and it curled again naturally. A professional curling iron is about $100 canadian (because my straightening iron was $100) so if you want a relyable iron, youll have to save. It isnt very hard to do this style, and Conair Curling Irons, which can be bought at your local drug store, are usually between $15-25. Its pretty handy to have one around.

In my experiance, extensions can be end up messy if you dont know what your doing. For wigs, you get what you pay for, so if you get a $20 halloween wig, you get crap. You gotta pay at least $40 to get a good wig. I suggest www.cosplay.com for good wigs. Um..I have tried the rag technique...but it didnt work for me because I didnt know how to do it correctly...so experiment with that one.

Um....OH! Okay, I remember this toy I had when I was little. Seperate you hair into three's of little groups of hair (Like you were about to braid it) but twist each group tight, then braid it. Spray with a spray bottle and sleep in it. The twisting before you braid will curl itand the braiding will making it ring-let-y. I had a pochahontis (sp? the disney movie) toy that did that, and it did go curly. So you might wanna try that one weekend. I dunno what type of hair you have, so it might not work for you. But it wont hurt trying.

Good Luck ^-^

For makeup: I keep it crazy simple, some shear sparkles (mine are tinted gold, but silver would be nicer) for eyes, with a little bit of liner and mascara and light pink, mostly shear lipgloss. Cheap Bonne Bell is your best bet because it tastes good, looks good, smells good, and usually arent sticky. Just reaply when it gets worn off.
