"Starting Today, You are a Host!" "Kyō kara Kimi wa Hosuto da" (今日から君はホストだ)
Haruhi Fujioka, a scholarship student, is immediately mistaken for a boy when she arrives at elite private school Ouran Academy, due to her androgynous personality and short hair. Searching for a quiet place to study, she stumbles across the Host Club, and, in an attempt to escape, accidentally breaks a ¥8 million vase. To pay back the debt, Haruhi becomes a host, needing to be "requested" by at least one hundred customers before she can leave. However, one by one the Host Club members discover her true gender; all except Tamaki. Haruhi assaults one of Tamaki's consistent customers for tossing her bag into the pond, and her quota is changed to one thousand customers. the twins, Hikaru and Kaoru, break up the fight by pouring water over Haruhi and the customer. Haruhi goes to get changed into a dry uniform, when Tamaki accidentally steps in while she is undressing and discovers she's really a girl. "Beware the Physical Exam!" "Shintai Kensa ni Go-yōjin" (身体検査にご用心)
The time has come for the school's physical examinations, so the club must find a way to protect Haruhi's Big Secret. Their attempts (Including Tamaki disguising himself as Haruhi) fail miserably until Kyoya steps in, with a doctor who promises not to reveal her secret. Meanwhile, someone accused of attempting to "make a pass" on one of the female students, Dr Yabu (literally, Doctor Quack) is actually searching for his daughter after she and her mother left him due to financial problems. Kyoya points out that, if the man's family is really that poor, the girl would be attending Ouran Public High, rather than the prestigious and very expensive Ouran Academy. Tamaki gives him directions, explaining that, even though he might get hurt later, it's up to him to find the truth. "Attack of the Lady Manager!" "Joshi Maneejaa Shūrai" (女子マネージャー襲来)
The Host Club must deal with their new self-asserted manageress, Renge, a French otaku who claims to be Kyoya's fiancée. Renge has an overt obsession with video games, anime, manga, and cosplaying. She also instantly falls in love with Kyoya, simply because he looks like a character from a date-sim game who she is in love with. She decides to enhance the hosts' roles in the club by giving each one a dark side. She makes Tamaki a "Lonely Prince", which Tamaki finds suits him well, Hunny a "Baby-faced thug", with Mori as his lackey, Hikaru and Kaoru become "basketball players immersed in their own world", and Haruhi becomes an honour student who is also a bullying victim (Hunny being the bully). Eventually, this leads to Renge making a movie for the host club, with each host acting out their new roles, with the help of a Hollywood film-crew that Renge hired. She gathers two yakuza (mafia) to play villains for the host club's "final fight," apparently a scheme where they band together to fight them, when they attack Haruhi. But the Yakuzas refuse and push Renge away. Haruhi attempts to protect Renge from their meager attacks, dislodging her contact-lense in the process, causing her to appear to be crying in pain. Tamaki hurries over, angry at the thought some one has hurt her, only to find out that it was her contact that fell out. Haruhi finally helps Renge understand that there's more than stereotypes, and Renge immediately switches crushes from Kyoya to Haruhi. In the end though, the movie that was made by Renge was sold throughout the whole academy, to apparent universal acclaim, by Kyoya by saving the film before breaking the lens and lessening the violence. "The Twins Fight!" "Futago Kenkasuru" (双子ケンカする)
The twins beg to be allowed to visit Haruhi's home, but she refuses. Haruhi comments about the differences between Hikaru and Kaoru, which triggers a fight between the inseparable siblings, even making them dye their hair different colors, blue and pink, in order to be told apart. The feud between the twins leads to them fighting constantly. Eventually Kaoru is about to use a curse doll which he obtained from Nekozawa's black-magic club, and threatens to write Hikaru's name on the doll's back, completing the curse. But Haruhi intervenes and snatches the doll from Kaoru. When Haruhi finally stands up to their fighting, she tells the twins that if they apologize to each other then they can go round Haruhi's house. However, she then turns the doll over, revealing that on its back is written "Blank", revealing that it was all just a trick by the twins to be allowed to visit Haruhi's house.

"The Grade School Host is the Naughty Type!" "Shōgakusei Hosuto wa Yancha-kei" (小学生ホストはやんちゃ系)
An elementary school brat, Shiro Takaoji, seeks help from the Host Club's King to win the heart of women, but what he doesn't say makes all the difference in how much help he gets. Renge helps develop a role for him, a sub-role of Hunny's boy-lolita type, called the "Naughty Boy" type. But Shiro denounces the whole club as idiots and runs away, calling Tamaki a "fake king". Tamaki and the others infiltrate the elementary school, disguising Hunny and Haruhi as an elementary student and a middle-school student, respectively. But later, they walk in themselves, revealing that the real reason for the disguises was to see Haruhi dressed as a middle-school girl. The club then discovers that Shiro has a crush on a girl who would soon be moving away. Tamaki explains to him he didn't wish to please women, but only to please one woman - the girl he has a crush on. He had joined the Classical Music Club to make her happy and play the piano with her. Shiro learns his part of the piano duet he was supposed to have played with her, and the host club ends up allowing him and the girl to have a small concert in the host club lounge, being an abandoned music room as it is. The episode ends with Shiro entertaining at the host club, fully into his "Naughty Boy" role, warning the clients not to tell his girlfriend; she'll get jealous if she hears he's hanging out with such beautiful women.

"Jungle Pool SOS!" "Janguru Pūru SOS" (ジャングルプールSOS)
The Host Club drags Haruhi to an artificial tropical beach, but an accident involving the wave-pool separates Hunny from the rest of the gang. Mori and Haruhi separate from the rest of the group to look for him, and Mori carries Haruhi due to the fact that she is scared of the jungle animals. Haruhi wonders aloud about Mori's and Honey's relationship, and then twins explain that they are in fact cousins by marriage. Meanwhile, Kyouya's guards, called in to look for Hunny, end up mistaking Haruhi as the "small boy" Kyouya had described Hunny as, and, under his orders, attempt to arrest any "suspicious people", as they believe that Mori looks suitably suspicious. Hunny swings in on a vine, amazing Haruhi with his martial arts ability, as he quickly subdues the guards, who apologise to Hunny for attacking him, since Hunny is actually a world-renowned martial-artist. The gang returns, ending the episode with Haruhi noting, much to the surprise of the twins and Tamaki, that she would enjoy visiting a real beach.

"The Sun, the Sea, and the Host Club!" "Taiyō to Umi to Hosuto Kurabu" (太陽と海とホスト部)
The Host Club visits the "real beach" in Okinawa upon Haruhi's request, but, Kyoya having invited customers, Haruhi is still unable to wear a swimsuit - much to the others disappointment, since they spent a long time carefully picking out a swimsuit that would not highlight Haruhi's flat-chest. The twins devise a game to see who can find out what Haruhi is afraid of first, drawing Tamaki in with the explanation that only close friends show each other their weaknesses. Kyoya hypes up the competition by offering up photos of Haruhi in middle school, refusing to explain where he got them. However, through the competition, they discover that Haruhi is not afraid of ghosts, confined dark spaces, bugs, sharp objects, or snakes. However, when a pair of drunken punks enter the beach and begin intimidating some of the girls, Haruhi recklessly defends the girls, resulting in the punks throwing her off a tall rock, and into the sea. Tamaki rebukes Haruhi for being so reckless, and she and Tamaki refuse to speak to eachother for the day. However, when Kyoya appears to try to assault Haruhi, it is revealed that he simply did it to show Haruhi how vulnerable she really is, and convinces her to apologise to Tamaki. Tamaki wins the competition secretly in the end, during a thunderstorm, when he finds Haruhi hiding in a closet. However, the rest of the host club walks in at the most inopportune moment, as he covers her ears and places a blindfold on her to "block the thunder." The group ends up leaving with Tamaki chasing after them, trying in vain to convince them that he's not a pervert (they mistook his covering Haruhi's eyes and ears as some sort of bizarre sexual foreplay).

Haruhi reveals that she came to Ouran for a reason, and says that she was never planning to leave for Lobelia in the first place. The Zuka Club girls leave, but refuse to give up, warning the club that they will be back for Haruhi.

"A Day in the Life of the Fujioka Family!" "Fujioka-ke no Nichijō" (藤岡家の日常)
Interested in the unknown ways of a "commoner's lifestyle", the Host Club makes an unannounced appearance at Haruhi's house to meet her family and see how she lives. Unintentionally, all the club members make themselves rather unwelcome, constantly commenting on how small the house is, and asking for things. Then, just as Haruhi is leaving to get food for lunch, her father arrives, revealing that he is a transvestite. Haruhi then leaves, and her father asks the Host club to come with her as she follows Haruhi, partly to watch Haruhi being so independent, and partly so that he can be seen with a group of handsome boys. Tamaki then realises how independent Haruhi is, and some reasons why.

"Big Brother is a Prince!" "Onii-chama wa Ōji-sama" (お兄ちゃまは王子様)
Tamaki enlists the help of Renge in teaching Nekozawa to become the princely figure his little sister is convinced he is. She lives her life waiting for her princely brother to save her from the monster in her house, who is actually Nekozawa in his cloak and wig (he has to cover his skin and hair because he is extremely sensitive to light). Tamaki and Renge help him to learn to act princely and to avoid occult references, and help him face his sensitivity to light, convincing him that it is just psychological. Eventually this leads to him saving his sister from a large, unfriendly cat (his sister is terrified of animals, especially cats), leading her to be convinced of his bravery despite the wig and cloak that he wears. Despite him overcoming his fear of light, he still succumbs to his sensitivity to it and collapses afterwards. This makes the Host Club believe that they were wasting their time, but in reality, Nekozawa's sister appears to be able to accept Nekozawa, even in his cloak and wig.

"Haruhi in Wonderland!" "Fushigi no Kuni no Haruhi" (不思議の国のハルヒ)
Haruhi's dream about the day of her admission into Ouran High School becomes a trippy Alice in Wonderland-esque fantasy. Her friends try to tell Haruhi something important, but she only realizes it when in court. At the end of the dream, she meets her mom, as the Queen of Hearts, who tells her to "enjoy a dream like student life." She wakes up with tears in her eyes, and sees the club dressed up in costumes that look like the ones they wore in her dream. She ends the episode by commenting on how the Host Club have too much fun.
