She'd been sick, hungry, moody... if it possible she'd been it. It was what had lead her to Joy. And, when Joy had said "You're Pregnant" with that joyful glow on her face Tori about damn near wanted to tare her apart and have a snack. But, she resisted and decided instead to just breath deeply and go with it like she'd done with so much else in her life recently.

Here she was at the Curio shop half a month after finding out she was pregnant... It had been two months since she'd see Kay. Her stomach was full of butterflies and just the thought of telling Kay was making her nauseous... not that she wasn't nauseous enough already.

She pulled her travelers cloak tighter around her in hopes of hiding the extra pounds and a starting to show figure. She gripped the handle and just stood there. "You can do this," she told herself over and over. And, finally she opened the door.

"Kay!" She called out.

Quote:
Kay was blissfully unaware of Victoria's...condition. The day she had run into Joy, the Shaman had been out doing something or another. Probably out with Roxy, or perhaps just wandering the town as he tended to do. He didn't know what was going on and after two months it was safe to say that nothing had happened. He assumed that if something did happen that she would have contacted him by now. So, of course, no news was great news.

Today, he was sitting on the bed, staring down at the scorch marks on the ground. Something told him that something had been burned there, but for hte life of him he couldn't remember what it was. He just knew that those marks weren't there before...and he spent a lot of time in this room. With a sigh, he moved to look up at the ceiling to the basement's room; it couldn't have been just him, but it was darker than normal...

Victoria's call made him startle.

"Yeeeeah?" He called back casually, ignoring the scorch marks and the darker ceiling in favor of hopping to his feet, heading up the stairs. "Tori." He said happily once he saw her, that crooked smile of his on his lips. "Been a while. What's up?"

Quote:
Tori couldn't help but to smile the moment she saw Kay and heard his voice. Something about the way he said her name made her feel warm and think less of the 'obvious'. She sighed softly, almost contently... Half wishing she could just forget for the moment the news she had to share.

Then reality set in again when she thought about his later words. Surely he must have thought something out of place. After all it wasn't like Tori to stay away from him for very long... mater of fact she found herself more often than not in his arms. The last time she'd stayed gone so long was when... She looked down at her hands and excepted to see blood on them.

She closed her eyes shut and took a deep breath. Now she was sure that Kay must really think something was up. She clasped her hands together and twisted them as if washing them. She couldn't ever recall a time in her life she'd been so nervous.

"I'm sorry Kay... I'm really sorry..." it was all she could manage to say to answer his question.

Quote:
Kay had to tilt his head. She was wearing her cloak so he couldn't really tell that something was up with her physical appearance, but he did notice the way she didn't move towards him. That was new, she certainly did touch him whenever she could; she always had, really. A brow raised curiously, gazing down at her wringing hands.

Why was she apologizing so much? She usually didn't apologize for anything, either...unless she thought it would help. Worry was, of course, starting to set in. Something clicked and there was a nervous butterfly in the pit of his stomach. Tori...gone for a few months, not talking to him, staying away, showing up nervous, apologizing right off the bat...?

"...Tori..." He said hesitantly, really, really hoping he was wrong. Really hoping. The grin had faded and his expression dropped, his crimson eye widening just a little bit. Still, he reached out, placing his scarred hands on her pale, wringing ones to stop her from doing such a worrying motion. "...Are you...?" He asked, his voice low and broken like he wanted to know, but was terrified of the answer.

Quote:
Tori who was a lot of things could have answered Kay's questions any number of ways. She bit into her lip when he touched her. She wanted so badly to throw herself on him but that would give it away. She sighed softly. She wanted so badly for everything to be alright between them and honestly she was scared that this would change things between them.

"Y..." She just couldn't force the word to come out of her mouth. Instead she just stated to cry as she squeezed his hands. She was shaky and very unlike herself. A bundle of nerves and all emotions. She couldn't help that she was on a roller coaster...

Quote:
The answer was quite obvious. For a moment, Kay just stood there stunned, his eye wide and his expression otherwise indescribable. He didn't want kids. Well, he did, but not now! He didn't want that big of a commitment and besides...he was dating another girl now. Seriously dating. This...this just blindsided him. Hard.

But Tori was quite clearly way more scared than he was, and he understood that. His body wouldn't be the one going through the changes...

Of course, once she broke down completely, the nerves that fluttered in his stomach turned to pure guilt. He let go of her hands, if only to pull her in close to wrap his arms around her, holding her tightly. "Tori. Don't cry...please don't cry, I'M sorry, I'm sorry, I should have..." He wasn't crying, but his voice was heavy enough. "We'll...figure this out."

Quote:
Tori wrapped her arms around Kay and held onto him just as tight. In an attempt to calm herself down she drew in several deep breaths. "There is nothing to figure out. I'll be fine. I'll manage. I can do this. I told you that I'd figure out how to cross the bridge when and if I came to it..."

"I can still go to school, work my two jobs, help out my parents with my sisters, and manage to find dinner at the end of the day. As for a place to live I'll live above the cafe again or I'... I'l... I'll... just scrub the place I planned to burn. It has plenty of space..." and not that she'd say it but bad memories. But, for now if she had to use it, it would do. It was clear that she was trying to make him feel better about this 'mess'.

Finally, she looked into his eye. "It is loosing you as a friend that scares me..." She felt suddenly a lot lighter at admitting that fact.

Kay raised his brow a bit, looking down at her as best as he could. She just...kept talking. Going on about how she was going to do this by herself. Basically, without him getting a word in edgewise, she was telling him it wasn't his problem at all. Though it was...she seemed hellbent on continuing from here on out on her own.

Well. That solved a lot of his problems. To be honest he was going to suggest she abort the Baby; he didn't want one yet, and he couldn't promise her anything. It wouldn't be fair to the child. If she was that intent on keeping it, he'd...well he'd let her.

He looked surprised when she admitted to being terrified of losing his friendship. Wow. After all that, THAT was what she was afraid of? With a soft tsk he reached up, pressing his hands against the side of her face, gazing into her teary eyes.

"Tori, This isn't going to change our friendship, and I don't think any less of you for it." He assured her softly, using his thumbs to brush the tears from her eyes. "Are you sure you want to keep it? You don't have to...and I can't promise you anything..." He felt guilty to still ask, but...he had to let her know...

Quote:
She wasn't going to admit that she'd already considered that this was payment for all the lives she'd taken, and blood she'd shed. Not to mention, as bubbly as that damn Joy was she'd feel guilty if something happened to the baby... and she'd feel guilty too having already made her mind up.

"It is what I do and all ways have done. I make my messes and I clean them up. You don't learn from them otherwise," still slightly out of breath she was extremely soft spoken. Knowing that he still cared about her regardless of this and her decisions meant a lot to her, probably more than he'd ever realize. She leaned into his touch, his rough hands as soft as ever to her.

"I've always treasured you, valued you above others... They will be no different as they are apart of you" she looked into his eyes and smiled softly. "I ask nothing of you and never will," and with that said she looked away.

Quote:
Well, that was true. But this was also technically his mess. He bit the inside of his cheek; he was fighting the urge to try and convince her to get rid of it, and that on it's own was selfish of him. She wanted this Baby, he kind of didn't...but she had already relieved him of any expectations he could have placed on himself.

"...Alright." He submitted, gazing down past her face to her stomach; she was wearing something different today, but it wasn't yet blatantly obvious that she was carrying a Baby. Slowly, his hands slid from her face, trailing down to rest his palms against her sides, though cupping her stomach.

"I would still like to see it one day, if you'll let me..." THAT was selfish of him. He wanted no responsibility, but he did still want to see the child.

Tori again looked at Kay, she had a look as everything would be alright. Whether the expression was real or not was the hard part to tell. She sighed contently as she placed her right hand on top of his that were resting on her stomach. Her she was again a victim to her hormones, she went from one end of it to the other in mere seconds.

"I couldn't keep your flesh and blood from seeing you or your mother..." she said as she used her right hand to comb through her messy curls. She hadn't bothered to try and contain her curls today... she really didn't bother much with the looks the department most days as it was hard enough just to get out of bed or out of the bathroom long enough to actually do something.

"You will tell your mother won't you?" It was bad enough that she was going to have tell her own parents... she'd hate to have to tell his parents as well. And, as if parents weren't bad enough she still had to tell her friends. Friends should have been the least of her concerns but she didn't like to be judge. She could judge others easily, but didn't like when she was judged.
