Autumn Blessings everyone!!

So today is October 1st, and so it is time to prepare for Samhain!! I'm so excited, Its my favorite of the harvest festivals, and its definitely my boyfriend's favorite Sabbat.

We both wanted to know what everyone else was doing for this sabbat.
I would like to know what this sabbat represents for you. How you practice and the different activities you do to celebrate.
Any info would definitely help me!!

Also...another question...
I want to do a couple type ritual with my boyfriend...I know, silly and stuff like that. And I know its supposed to come from within. But i'm really nervous. I've never done a ritual or spell with another person, let alone the man I love. I just don't want to seem silly. And not just a big ritual either, what other couple type activities can you do for Samhain?
Thanks everyone! and Blessed Be!!

**I'll be trying to post pics of decorations I get and activities I do this month leading up to Samhain, please do the same! This can be like a collective journal type thing for..I guess..October 2010 =D**

The only activity I can think of at the moment is like haunted houses and cider mills =]

Just so I can start off the October fun lol

I will be doing nothing I'm sad to say. But I'd like to think its for a good reason. You see I'll be going home a few days before for my close friend's wedding where I'll be best man. I'll have to drive home on Samhain and of course there will be class when its concluding.

As is, what little I can do around campus is really rather moot this year with my roommates. I got lucky last year, but it wouldn't happen this year. My only thought is to read a few things for it in a way. We'll see.

I'm having a gathering with friends on Oct. 31st. We're going to hold ritual, honor the dead, and give gifts. :]

P.S. - For anyone who knows and or likes the LGBT community, or if you are part of it, send your love vibes towards Columbus, OH on October 4th as a big group of protesters push the WBC away and spread the LOVE! biggrin

I'm sorry you can't celebrate it, but congrats for your friend =]

There is always other Samhains to celebrate as well. Reading always sounds like good way to honor a sabbat, its what I did for lammas and Mabon.

Yea, he's excited, and they both wanted their wedding right around Halloween so its just gonna be generally awesome in one way or another.

I know this but I guess I feel bad about it because I started my current path, the one that's felt the most right, on Samhain two years ago now. It feels very special but I can try to honor it as best I can in between my six hour drive.

Being in Ohio in late October calls for a hearty meal, so we have a ritual in which people can do spells they have been saving for group work and then proceed to eat thick soups, drink Witch's Brew, treat ourselves to a few candy bars and enjoy flavorful breads.

Our ritual is not elaborate in looks, but instead of solitary power we raise it as a group and make the circle and ritual stonger.

My gifts to my other members are beginner BOS. I am the only one with a BOS and they are not sure on how to start.

:l I'm not sure what else will happen, but often my group members and I laugh and joke.

I completely understand about the nervousness related to couple-magick stuff...When Byron and I handfasted...oh my goodness! Since there are maybe...five ordained folks in my area to preform the ritual, none of which I feel comfortable even...being out in the world, I had to do the ritual myself. Sorta. I had Byron help, since it was just as much my celebration as his. I stumbled over words, I felt awkward during some parts, but i chalk it up to nervousness...he hasn't been terribly exposed to the religious side of my witchyness, and that was really his first taste (what a way to go huh?). Anyway, in no way am I recommending anything serious, though I do suggest incorporating your "other" when and where possible. If they have a genuine interest.

Maybe, in lieu of it being Samhain, you two could approach ritual with a new years take? Banish anything bad that happened over the year (not exclusively between the two of you), and encourage good things, strengthening things. I wouldn't make resolutions per se, but along the lines of that maybe you could set goals to work towards, possibly together?

whatever you end up doing, I hope its a joyous jSamhain for the both of ya. I am still wondering what I'm doing myself, aside from the litany of Halloween bashes I'll be making appearances at. Time to break out those tarot cards! I did have one idea, however.

I've been having some chance encounters with Hekate lately. Here and there, notions of her and her presence have been popping up, I think it's partly due to this time of year. Still, as I am ideally a pan-witch (celebrating any and all gods/goddesses), I feel that since so many signs are being thrust-ed at me daily, I'd better do somethin...I was thinking picking up some lanterns and walking some of the neighborhoods around my house closer to the 31st. Myth has it that Hekate helped Persephone as she descended into the Underworld, as a guide and later as a friend. Lanterns are sacred to her, as are crossroads, which are plentiful in the Halloween-decorated area I live in. I think of the whole ordeal as a vigil, honoring that the dark of the year is here, and honoring the dead souls meandering about (I live reeeeeaaaallly close to the historic district of my city). Anyway, should be interesting. Happy Samhain to all!

WoW, its been a really long time since I've posted and I'm terribly sorry! With work and other issues in my life I just did not find the time to come on here and post!!

My Samhain was good =] Unfortunately, I was sick =[ But my boyfriend and I carved pumpkins (His a simple smiley face and he helped me make a hello kitty one lol), fed the animals, sat in silence and meditated for a bit and just had a relaxing peaceful night =D

idk what to make of this, but "Mother Nature" Paid me a visit on Samhain. Could that be sorta magickal in a way? Sorta like starting on a full moon. Sorry if this topic makes some people uncomfortable, I'm one of the few who doesn't care to openly talk about it.
Blessed Be!
