An open field of grass with wondrous plants that give off a majestic view on nature and life as it is a slightly cloudy, yet sunny day.
PostPosted: Fri Oct 01, 2010 12:56 pm

Maikeru walked tiredly out onto the open field. He had been out on earth battling hollow after hollow for month upon month. He'd only come back from the assignment a few days ago and had arrived at the squad barracks to find it relatively abandoned. Life had been...Dull. For the first time in his life Maikeru was bored. But then miracle of miracles he had spotted Kasen. He hoped they would be able to have another spar. Their last had ended with Maikeru passing out from pain and exhaustion. He figured it would be another story this time. He wasn't sure if he would win, but he knew he would stand a chance. For one thing he knew Kasen's Shikai, Zaine and Takashi were the only ones with even a slight clue about Maikeru's.

He smiled as he fell backwards, his back straight as a plank. Right before his back and head crashed into the ground he stiffened the air beneath him with a quick flash of reiatsu and settle comfortably down. Laying unseen and smiling in the tall grass amid the fantastic smells, the sunlight and shadows playing across his face as the wind blew fitfully.

I wonder if Kasen will have the same idea? Will he appear here as well?

After a few months of being on a mission, a figure appeared in the area sifting through the grass with each step as the figure wore a sleeveless cloak and the strange hood the person wore was gone as time changes, and so did one's appearance as the person's mess of black hair was longer and the purple dyes faded nicely into a strange pattern. The dim pair of purple eyes flashed out of their sockets as looked around at the area as he smiled a bit. "It's been a while, since I've relaxed in my own squad...Guess I am home after all, though it seems quiet without anyone here.." Kasen said as he looked around to see if anyone was around, at first he noticed nobody until he noticed a small release of reiatsu being released as he walked towards the source.

"Maikeru, lazying about as usual?" Kasen said as he looked at his squad member with a dim glare, yet a warm smile on his face as he chuckled at Maikeru's continual lack of cares in any world he is in. "It's been a while since we've last seen each other." Kasen said as he was a bit stiff and himself as the wind breezed through him as he stared out at the field with a slight distracted stare, however he returned his sights on Maikeru every few moment to give his attention to him.

"Lazying Kasen? Why, would I do that? I assure you I undertaking a task of the utmost importance at this very instance. Assigned by the Central 46 themselves in fact..." His face broke into a smile as the facade cracked and he burst out into laughter, "Ahh, I couldn't keep it up, you have me nailed." The smile still plastered to his face Maikeru flipped up to his feet and picked a few pieces of grass off his uniform.

"Beautiful isn't it?"

Kasen chuckled a bit at Maikeru's attempts to hide his own nature and give a serious face. "It's a serene view, though for you it doesn't need to be a beautiful area to relax, now does it?" Kasen asked as he unzipped his cloak to reveal his shihakusho and uniform under it as it was a bit warm as his cloak fluttered in the wind for a moment.

"Have you become stronger?" Kasen asked as he wanted to see how the progress of his squad members were as he made sure that all of them reach their grandest of potential. "Have you achieved something higher than those daggers?" Kasen asked as the time for shikai for Maikeru should have longed passed, yet he had not been the one who taught him it like the others.

Maikeru's eyes twinkled, it was ironic really. Kasen inquired about his progress with Shikai, asking if he had gone farther than combat with simple daggers, when his Shikai focused a good deal on daggers. Another bubble of laughter escaped his lips as he brushed a few stray strands of hair off his face. "Well, I certainly havn't gotten worse, but I'm warning you, I've gotten myself some mad skillz."

All of a sudden a small knife seemingly appeared from out of nowhere with absolutely nowhere, tumbling end over end on Maikeru's knuckles. His sleight-of-hand had improved drastically and it would seem like the knife had been present the entire time.

"Zaine did a pretty good job with me I must say." He loosened the ties at his neck keeping the clothing tight with the same hand tumbling the knife incessantly about, miraculously he wasn't cut. "So, how about it?"

"I thought you would never ask." Kasen said with a grin as he noticed the dagger, however he knew not to be afraid or worried, for what's one dagger compared to the multiples in Maikeru's possession. "Well Zaine isn't here, I am, and unlike him, I'm in the squad I started in and will always be here to stay." Kasen said as he revealed flashed out from his cloak the infamous deck of cards which glowed its evil red and black aura as Kasen shuffled the cards. However, while they were his signature battle starters, he split the deck and they vanished from his hands as Kasen stashed them into his sleeves in case they were needed to counter Maikeru's daggers.

Kasen raised his left index finger which found itself pointing at its single opponent as it carefully aimed itself at Maikeru's right shoulder, more importantly the muscles which lied beneath it and controlled the body's functions. "Hmm, the deltoids or the bicep..." Kasen thought to himself as he remembered his life studying medicine and anatomy, ironically not being the the 4th squad. Gathering reiatsu into his left index finger, Kasen chanted and casted the kidō. "Hadō #4, Byakurai." The reiatsu sparked itself as it became a burst of palest white lightning as it jumped from his fingertips towards the bicep region of Maikeru who Kasen assumed would have a counter as he knew this was not an easy victory, for that would be a boring victory, and not Maikeru's style.

"Well, something certainly can be said for devotion at that." Maikeru's eyebrow raised as Kasen raised his finger, waiting for a moment before firing off the Kido. His eyes had quickly traced the path the Kido would follow, and when he hear the number four he knew which it was, Byakurai.

"There once was a man from Calcutta," Maikeru ducked letting the Kido fly off to fizzle off into the distance, flinging the miniscule dagger as he ducked he continued, "His family was in such a flutter. " He twisted, staying low while spinning, two more knives quickly followed the first, "And when he came down, he said with a frown, Why! They all just turned to butter!" The two heavy and large daggers the length of his forearms were in his hands and he was rushing low to the ground, darting towards the purple-haired shinigami.

Kasen looked at Maikeru dodge the attack as he listened to the odd little story as he watched the knives come at him. Changing the flow from reiatsu in his index finger to his palm, Kasen began another Kidō. "Hadō #1, Shō." Kasen said as he released a small pressure of reiatsu to push back the knife as he watched two more follow their friend, releasing the kidō once more he watched as Maikeru make his move, however not before Kasen began the counter. "Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and tear out your own throat! Bakudō #9, Hōrin!" Kasen chanted as he unleashed tendrils of reiatsu that seemed like whips as they latched onto the knives, instead of binding people, they became ropes to become a binding blade.

Lashing out the tendrils at Maikeru as they came, he hoped his plan worked as the attack should wrap Maikeru and bind him with the tendrils until he was fully caught, with the blades wrapping until they reached the target and stab him, however it was up to Maikeru as Kasen watched the plan come into play.

Maikeru laughed and began whistling a merry little tune as the blades changed course and whipped towards him. He shot to the side slightly, preceeding them on their path, and then leapt up, back flipping and twisting in the air. As he rotates his own large blades flashed out and severed the Bakudo where they gripped his knives. One quick revolution later his feet quickly snapped into each blade sending them back on their original path towards Kasen. They were accurate, though the spin was off so there was no guarantee if they would hit with the tip of the blade or the blunt pommel. He had been practicing before he left on his mission how to intercept high speed moving objects like that. It was jsut a plus he could look so cool while doing it.

Kasen watched as the blades snapped off his tendrils as they were free and were had the habit of coming to Kasen. Acting quick as the daggers came closer, he pulled into his shihakusho's sleeves and pulled out four cards as they flew out of his hand. Taking extra precaution, Kasen moved to his left as he ran backwards a few steps as the cards exploded with the flames consuming the daggers as their power should have fallen. However, it was a hand of three's, meaning it had the powers of fire and darkness as Maikeru would realize the old dark black and violet fog rolling out of the flames.

"This always seem familiar..."
Kasen said as this time he was outside the fog rather than being in it as the fog moved forward and out, however Kasen wasn't close enough to be consumed as he wondered if Maikeru would get consumed in its shadowy darkness once more, or retain all his senses in the world that is outside the fog.

"No worries, those may have been lost during delivery, but I'll send you a few more." Maikeru smiled from within the quickly expanding fog. He stood calmly for a few moments twirling the large daggers in his hands. He began slowly striding in the direction Kasen had been. After a few steps he broke into a trot, and from there a full sprint. He was at the edge of the still expanding fog in less than a few seconds. He could just barely see a horribly hazy outline in his vision. He smiled and skidded, his heels kicking up dust. A moment later he was flying into the air, out above the mist. He smiled down at Kasen as he flipped over head. As his revolution completed the sunlight glinted off the small weighted dagger Maikeru hadn't thrown, but just let go of. "Hado Number One, Sho." He smiled as the slowly falling dagger immediately shot towards Kasen with a small boom.

Right as he was about to land, but a few from the other shinigami he spoke again, "Bakudo Number Twenty-One, Sekienton." His ecstatic smile was quickly obscured by a thick smokescreen expelled from his dagger enclosing fists when they touched the ground. "My apologies," He said with a chuckle in the back of his throat, "Just thought you should know how it feels."

Kasen was in shock a bit as nobody had ever been that reckless to ever simply run out into the darkness to escape, then again they were in a flat terrain unless Maikeru tripped over himself while in there. Looking at the dagger coming quick, he chanted as he unleashed another kidō"Bakudō #39, Enkosen!" A spinning fan of a shield erupted from his hand as it spun away the daggers as well as the smoke as Kasen coughed a bit as he hated smoke. "No, I've been in my own fog, and that smoke, better to say mine doesn't feel like swimming in an ash tray..." Kasen said as he stopped the rotation of his kidō as it dispersed as Kasen moved forward at Maikeru as he unsheathed the purple hilted blade on his back.

A bit tired of letting his kidō do the fighting, Kasen began the true attacks. Swinging downward, Kasen also raised his lower body as he attacked giving his body a flip-over his opponent as he attacked so that it would be difficult to attack straight above in the time it should take to counter, however Kasen knew Maikeru had a plan ready if he knew too much.

"But wait," he tilted his head quizzicaly, "it smells like you doesn't it?" He laughed good naturedly, "Sorry, I couldn't resist, they just come to me." Maikeru looked up in mock awe as Kasen passed over head, his blade flashing down seeking to carve into his flesh. He held his arms over his head, crossed his wrists, and subsequently crossed to two heavy daggers as well.

He crouched slightly as Kasen's blade wedged into the angle made by the crossing blades, the blows force distributing evenly among them, and then sprung upwards, jumping into Kasen's slash slightly. It should throw Kasen off balance and make is landing more sketchy.

He turned and darted towards his fellow shinigami, "Now now, I always picked you out as a more down to earth sort of fellow?" As he neared the shinigami after he landed he daggers began flashing about, numerous slashes and jabs intermingled with eachother in a general assault on Kasen's person.

Kasen sighed at Maikeru's joke as he was wondering if Maikeru was a shinigami, or a comedian who is part juggler with a sword. Kasen watched as the blades clashed with each other as he landed a bit off balance, however his composure was regained in a moment as Kasen held his sheath upwards as he slashed at the barrage of daggers coming at him. "How many do you have of these things do you have? And now I'm curious on where on your body you've been putting these." Kasen shouted as he slashed downward with the sheath in his left as he ducked an odd slash as he jumped backwards for a moment.

Dropping at the ground where Maikeru stood came glowing red playing cards that Kasen dropped when he went backwards so that Maikeru could always have that explosive punchline. "Bombs away." Kasen said as the cards ignited to explode the dagger master into some flames that hungered his body to become a charred mess.
