Welcome, one and all, to the official thread of the First Official TBO Pokemon Tournament! Here we will contain all of the preparations, registrations, and chaotic happenings leading up to and including the first guild-wide Pokemon Tournament over WiFi.
Those who still wish to participate that have not signed up, please let me know soon, so we have everything in order before we kick things off on Saturday, October 23. This is going to be an event to remember.
Let the games begin!

OFFICIAL RULES: 1) The tournament will be held in a Round Robin format: Knocking out all of your opponent's pokemon will earn you 1 point. The player with the most points at the end of the tournament will be declared the overall winner. (you may do a best-of-3 match to earn your point as well, if desired) 2) The battles will be held using Lv50 Single Battle rules; that means that the players use 1 pokemon at a time, and all pokemon used will automatically be set to Lv50 regardless of what level they are actually at in the game. 3) Matches will be 6-on-6 rounds. Switching out is permitted at any time. 4) Only pokemon admissible to the Battle Frontier may be used in this tournament. As such, the following pokemon may not be used for your official battle: Mewtwo; Mew; Lugia; Ho-oh; Celebi; Kyogre; Groudon; Rayquaza; Jirachi; Deoxys; Dialga; Palkia; Giratina; Phione; Manaphy; Darkrai; Shaymin; Arceus This rule may be disregarded only if both battle participants agree to disregard. 5) Hold items are the only items permitted; if your pokemon isn't holding it, it cannot be used. (The item menu should be disabled in wifi battles anyway, but just adding this so we're all on the same page) 6) One-hit Knockout moves (Guillotine, Horn Drill, etc) are not permitted 7) You may only inflict Sleep status on one opponent pokemon at a time; the afflicted pokemon must either faint or awaken in order for you to legally inflict it on another pokemon. (Rest does not count towards this, as the move is self-inflicting)
If necessary, these rules will be updated later.

I love the idea, but I need to know what the rules are (level range, party number, etc.) so that I can prepare.
Hoooo excited!

I'm going to be doing some testing tonight/tomorrow to see if the DS online battles support level setting (i.e. automatic drop to 50 if you're higher than that) before announcing the official level range.
Also, it just occurred to me that any matchups between ppl that have Battle Revolution on Wii can probably be fought that way as well.
More to come as research commences!

Oh yeaaaah! Battle Revolution!
Just that I can't send my Platinum team over because Platinum is on a flashcart.
So the one on my BR is my sucky Diamond team.

I've got great teams on Diamond, Platinum, and SoulSilver but I don't know how to work Wi-fi, so...I'd have to see if I can participate or not.
I'd still probably get creamed though....

Rules added, and poll updated.
Rocket, I'll PM you the basics for getting WiFi set up in a bit. I'd hate to see you miss out 'cause you can't connect.

@Red: Okay cool! You might want to add whether or not we can use items. I don't think it would be a good idea to allow it because then the battles would take forever rofl

Ah, right... I should probably mention up there that the Items menu is disabled on WiFi sweatdrop
Thanks for the reminder.

No problem ^^
Also, is there a limit to how many Legendaries we can use? Currently in my SoulSilver party, I have two (Giratina and Mewtwo).

Per Rule 2, any and all legendaries are usable. If you want your team to be entirely made up of legendaries, go right ahead.
