the air was chilly in the early morning. dew clung to the grass making it fresh and crispy. Premaz silently woke, being careful to not wake the two sleeping foals at his side. it was his turn to watch them last night. the dense thicket that was the nursery was warm from the body heat. Premaz carefully got up and exited the thicket. he was hungery and the only time to get a good meal in was while the foals were still alseep, other wise he was chasing them around and eating in peace was out of the question.
he looked back at the thicket to make sure that he had not woken them, then walked a few steps over to a fresh looking patch of grass. Premaz would never dream of going any further than this in case if something was wrong with the foals, not to mention Kenton would kill him if anything happened. Premaz knew it, Kenton did not trust him with the foals. he wasent sure about how the head lady felt about it, but as long as he got to keep his job he was happy.
Premaz began to nibble on the grass. it was cool and refreshing after sleeping in the warm thicket. he shivered at the cold morning air, but it was already starting to get warmer. he ate with one ear turned towards the foal bush and the other turned out to the forest listening for danger.

 Diantha was a pretty active foal but she was still more well behaved them most of them. She yawned as she woke up that morning and looked around the other was still asleep, she smiled, that ment that her and Premaz could have more time to eat with out the loud male around. She stretched as she stood and walked out to find him. She enjoyed when he got to watch them cause he was nice and would chase them when they ran away, though he didn't seem to think it was a fun game like they did. She shook out her red hair and looked towards the brightly colored blue male.
He had a neat pattern but she liked his antlers the most. She hoped that she would grow some when she got bigger but she had a feeling she wouldn't have nice ones like he had. She smiled as she bounded over towards him. "Hi Premaz! How did you sleep today?" she asked as she walked around him, her little nubby tail wagging happily to be awake.

Premaz was started by the young mare. he had gotten so into hes grazing that he had forgotten to listen for the foals. he looked over at her with a comic surprised expression on his face. "oh my, little deer child Dia." he laughed and smiled at her. "i was expecting more sleep still from young ones." he nugded her side and bent down to take another nibble of grass. "at least it is only you, eating is hard with both of you. two eyes, one for each little one, this leaves no eyes to watch what i eat." his voice was teasing but gentile. he had a slight accent, but not because he was foreign, he just liked the way it sounded so he would use it around people who didnt know any better.

Diantha smiled at him and laughed a little as he nosed her. "I'm sorry i didn't mean to scare you though i like how funny you looked when i did!" She said with a smile as she poked about in the grass looking for some that still had dew on it. "What are we going to do today? Can we go explore the woods and play! OH Can we go swimming!" she said with a smile as her nub kept wagging excitedly. She pranced around him and smiled before calming for a few moments to eat some more grass today. "I like the ones with the dew on them cause it makes them sweeter!" she said as she nibbled at some grass happily. "Don't you like them? Are there any berries around you think?" she asked lifting her head with grass in her mouth and chewing as she looked for some berries.

Premaz shook his head frowning largely. "woods is not fun place for little ones with no antlers. but maybe swiming." he thought of how he would pull that off. this little filly was by far his favorite. he tried not to show it, but sometimes he could not help but treating her to little surprises. "we could swim for small time, but no one knows k? it be a secret. has you learned to swim yet from Helberd? he be yellow deer folk with lots of spikes on his antlers."
would premaz get into trouble for taking a foal out of the clearing? to get to the river was no big deal, it was just on the other side of the trees, well at least the shallowest point was. its not like anything dangerous would happen, and if so they were only a stones throw away from the saftey of the herd. no biggie they would be back in a flash.

Dia pranced and smiled. "Oh no i haven't gotten to spend too much time with Helberd. He knows how to swim?" she said with a smile. "Or does everyone know and someone just has to teach me now?" she asked as she walked over to him. She liked spending time with anyone. She was really friendly and she liked to learn things. She talked alot and wanted to be a babysitter when she was big so that she could play with the new babies that would join them and teach them things.
"Can we really go swimming? I like the water and i've gone up to my legs a little bit the few times ive got to the river to get a drink with someone but... i want to swim!" she said excitedly as she walked over to him and motioned him down close to her face. She smiled and whispered. "I wont tell anyone that you took me if its going to get you in trouble." she said softly with a giggle.

Premaz smiled widely at the excited foal. "well of course! lets go soaks our feets. maybe not going all the way, but we can splash." he laughed and giving Dia a nudge he pranced off in the direction of the river. he peeked over his shoulder to make sure that she was following him. he figured that the shallow river beyond the trees would be best.

Dia smiled at him as she pranced about along with him. "Oh yes lets do that! I like that idea it will be lots of fun! Will there be berries down by the water you think?" she asked with a pleased smile as she walked along side him and looked up at him with a wag of her tail. Her red hair fluttered about her as she pranced and walked with him. "I'm looking forward to playing in the river!!" She said excitedly.

Premaz chuckled at the foal. "yes yes berries firt, no being smrt if we swim on empty stomachs." he headed to the tree line and stopped at the first tree. "ok forest not being nice place. first we listen." he held very still listening for any signs of life. he could hear the river trickling not too far away, but that was it. "ok no one there. next we smell." he stuck his nose out and whiffed the air. "do you smell anything?" he did not smell anything but he wanted to see id Dia was paying attention.

Dia watched him as he talked about the forest. She tilted her head and listened and then lifted her nose and smelled. "Mmmmmm i think i smell berries...annnd..." She closed her eyes and sniffed again. "I think i smell water! But i don't smell anything else but maybe a bunny." She said as she turned her head to look for the bunny she was sure she smelled. "I like bunnies! Their so cute and fluffy!!!" She said with a bounce as she laughed and looked at him. "Can we go in now? Can we! Can we!!" She said excitedly.

Premaz looked down at the filly. she reminded him of himself when he was little. so curious and so much energy. he looked into the forest and then knelt down to whisper into Dia's ear. "ok now here is what we do. we run very fast, as our legs can take us. we see who meets te river first k darling." he stood straight and then began to lean forward in anticipation. "ok ready...GO!" he dashed off into the forest. his long legs carried him quickly over the ground. his hooves dug into the earth giving him extra push. his light antlers causing less of a problem than normal bucks. he made it to the river in less than a minute. once there he stopped and grabbed a mouth full of berries and turned around to make it look like he had been there for a while.

Diantha laughed at him as he spoke. A race!! She was fast! She wiggled and pranced about before looking at him. "Ok! Your on! Lets go!" she said as she got ready and then took off like a bullet when he said go! She ran through and around bushes and leaped a log that got in her way. She tried and sprung around as fast as she could, but she still got there just a moment too slow. "Oh *pant* I saw you *Pant* just get here." she said as she went to the water to get a drink before she got a mouth full of berries. "that was alot of fun though wasn't it?" she said with a laugh as she smiled and ate some more.

Premaz quickly swallowed the berries when he saw that Dia was right behind him. he was not expecting her to be so fast. he coughed and then laughed panting a little. "my my, little deer person is faster then most. i will talk to trainer, see if he can help you be even faster." he went to the waters edge and pushed Dia from behind into the river. he was not worried about hurting her, the water was not deep here. maybe up the the foals stomach. he bent his head down and got a drink to re-hydrate himself after their fun race.

Dia laughed at him when he commented on how fast she was. "Thanks its cause i run away from you so much when you say its bed time. I gots to be fast if i wants to avoid going to bed really fa-" she didn't get to finish cause he bumped her into the water. She stumbled with a gasp and fell forward into the water, coming up again covered from head to toe in water. She snorted and shook her red hair. "What the hay man! Why did you have to get me all wet?" she said as she stood there in the river up to her elbows and shook to get some of the water off of herself.

Premaz giggled, something he never dared do around Kenton or the other bucks in the herd for it was unmanly to giggle. he then jumped into the river splashing Dia and making himself wet. "oh my deer folk child, you said you were wishing to swim. i only brought the water to you." he laughed again and began to playfully splash her and prance around in the water. he loved the feel of the water on his legs, even if it was a bit cold from the early morning. water was beautiful and he was beautiful. being beautiful be could not help but love anything that compared to himself.
