Winter's frozen grip remains stong over the lands, and will for many more months to come. The heights of the peak and mountainous range about the valley howls with winter's fury, blanketed in white. A trecherous enough pass alone, even in the most desireable weather is now easily twice as dangerous. A blessing for those within the mountain. Not even the most bold or foolish of wolves would dare the pass... even those that did know how to navigate the natural fortress would think twice before daring the pass.
For those in the valley it was security. This season none would dare trespass into the lands and threaton what it guarded... to the alpha nothing could be more of a blessing. His mate had been craving more and more fish, gaining weight quickly and laying about more often with a miserable attitude, protective of herself and fierce in getting what she felt her body called for.
The alpha paced outside of their densite, looking over his shoulder towards the mouth of the strange foundation. It had been a previous human settlement so in its structure there were many rooms, old furs-nearly eaten by moths at this point or overgrown with moss, but it was warm, safe, and away from the elements. The absolute ideal location for those coming into the world.
The crows had gathered as well, feeling the tension in their meal ticket. Feanaro laid himself down, facing the mouth of the cave, his ears pinned to the muscular cuff on his neck, every muscle screaming to leap up and attend to his mate- but during birth, wolves were quite moody...

The sounds from within the cave were only magnified by the encloused space. It seemed as if two wolves were inside from the various amount of noises poor Kahlaria made. At one point she would cry out in a long whine from the pain, and the next she'd be cross and bare her teeth in a vicious growl. Oh was she angry with the world, and if any such dirty word had made it into her vocabulary at any point in her life, she vocalized it at least one to three times a second.
Minutes later, she gave a weak howl, one that possibly only Feanaro would understand.. she was exhausted, but the puppies had been born, all three of them now squirming for life as the soft tongue of their mother ran over their soaked bodies. She weakly enclosed them in a semi-circle of her form and continued to caress them.
"Hello little ones..."

Feanaro looked up from where he had laid himself down, his ears lifting up off his head and his eyes going wide. The crows all stirred amongst themselves, glancing down to him, to the cave, or off in various directions but all remained silent. He looked once more to the cave, listening as his mate went into labor. It was perhaps the only time the great wolf could be heard whimpering in any fashion, mainly out of concern but also a bit of anxiety.
Once she had called for him he was up off the ground and into the den, his ears perked forward and tail swishing behind him. Spirits... please make her okay... He poked his head into the 'den', taking a short glance in either direction before moving in. "Kahlaria.... my love are you alright?"
He had to stop himself, taking a glanc to the three small bundles moving towards her belly. He whimpered again, slowly moving forward. "....are.....these..."
He sniffed at them, causing one of the pups to squeel out of having its space invaded by something forgien to it. "..they're... beautiful." For a moment he was beside himself with joy, lifting his head to lick frantically at her exhausted face. Even then he couldn't seem to make up his mind between licking her or the pups, whimpering joyously, his tail waving frantically behind him.

She didn't seem to know how to speak, and was distracted even more so by the licking to her face. She appreciated it, but her brain wasn't functioning at a normal level.
"Two boys and a girl..." She said sometime after his attention diverted to the pups. "We'll have to think of names. Fae..." She said quietly as she laid her head down, sighing a bit in relief as her body relaxed. "You won't forget me now that we have children, will you? This isn't about populating the pack, you really do love me.. don't you?"
It may come as a shock to hear, but she needed him to tell her again. Through her pregnancy she was afraid he might be so excited for puppies that she would get shoved into the background.
"I just.. want to know."

"Ohh, my love...", he looked to her, gently using a paw to lift her chin so her silver eyes could meet with his golden ones, assuring the truth in his words, "I would never forget about you... we are a family now..." Those words were so strong, they had great significance to him personally and he stressed that in his tone. He had lost his family as a pup, as had his dearest mate. Now they had pups of their own to raise in what they had lost. "One moment... the rest of our family should be here to welcome them as well."
He was so excited but he was doing his best to keep up his dignified nature. With another lick to her head he darted from the cave's mouth, taking a deep breath and letting loose one of the more loud howls that he could, announcing to the entire valley the birth of his children. A strangely joyful sound mixed in with his deep, strong howl.

She felt rather silly laying there, feeling dirty and wet. The attention would be on the pups, but she felt so vunerable in even Feanaro's eyes and was afraid they'd lose respect for her if they saw her fragile nature. She was praying to whatever God she could to keep conciousness... she was so tired, and so hungry..
She enclosed the pups in a tighter circle, licking up the belly of one of the boys, rolling him fully over.

Feanaro's howl had been first to reach Keefe's ears. The dark male had crept off into a patch of forest, caught himself a rabbit, and had been snacking on it as he heard his alpha's call. The beta stood, dropping the partially eaten animal and started a slow trot to where Feanaro and his mate were. He wasn't in a hurry, not at all. Truthfully, he wasn't all too thrilled about these new additions to their pack. Feanaro was a father, Khal a mother, in his mind, he was going to be the one that was going to get forgotten about, left in the dust as quickly as he had been picked up.
He had kept his distance from the pair during Khal's pregnancy, keeping Nafeeza company, running off and around on his own. Feanaro's usually calm mate had become rather snappy with the coming of her pups. Keefe not only was distance from her, but he feared her as well.
The purple male made it to the small family by the cave, head held low and his glaring, amber eyes darting around. As Feanaro came into view, he cleared his expression and trotted to the lead male, lowering his head in respect,
"Congradulations, both of you" His head nodded toward the den, "How are they?"

Feanaro's chest swelled with pride as Keefe came into veiw, his mouth curved into a rare smile. He had dreamt of a family for so long, being able to have pups of his own with is dear mate and raising them among his pack. He couldn't be more proud that Keefe was going to have a paw in their upbringing, especially when it came time to teach them to hunt and defend themselves.
As the dark male approached he answered the respectful lowering of his head with a nod of his own, motioning into the den with a wide grin, "They are wonderful... three little ones...two boys and a girl."
The masked wolf moved over to his mate once again, nuzzling her softly as he approached. She was right- they needed names. "I wanted you to be here when I gave them their names, Keefe." He smiled to the dark wolf then nuzzled his mate once more. Poor thing was exhausted... once he had the young ones named he'd be sure to try and catch a few fish to calm her down and give her back her energy.
A careful paw moved towards the first born, turning him over gently for his father to study. "Hmm... the oldest." He thought for a moment, his golden eyes narrowing a bit. "He shall be Kendrick... 'royal cheifton'."
It seemed a good name. The pup was large- the second largest of the litter... perhaps a perfect balance between his massive size and his mate's smaller frame. The second born was larger than the other two, a deep brown like his father. Feanaro sniffed at him shortly, nudging him as well to get a better look at him. "You, little one, shall be Barinthus... 'wrathful one'." Surely such a name would come in handy later on in his life- he would grow to be massive.
"And you, little dear...." He circled around to bring his daughter into veiw. A silvery color like his mother had been with the very faintest flicks of creamy orange like her mother. "Chaska.... 'star goddess'." He smiled softly, leaning down to nudge her closer to her mother's belly.

Kahlaria simply lay there, deathly still aside from the gentle rise and fall of her belly near the pups. Fae was able to care for them and show them in the proper direction in which to feed, and she was sure to once she gained a better grip on reality. The birthing had only just finished, and her body hadn't even begun the recovery process.
She did her best to acknowledge Keefe, but her head would not obey and kept limp against the dirt. She was in no danger of death or some post-birth disease, but exhaustion was an unseen battle itself. Finally, she was given the chance at some peace and fell into the deepest sleep imaginable. She had assumed her mate would protect the children in her slight... absence.
