The dainty leopardess let a heavy sigh escape her hungry maw as she watched the small herd of zebra roam in the distance. Her intestines screamed and churned in pain, notifying Celile, once again, that she hadn't eaten in days. "Me own son refused to share a meal wit' meh..." Her face was twisted in a scowl, but her eyes and voice betrayed her appearance. They were tinted with sadness. Her encounter with her long-lost son had been tragic... And she was clueless about what had went wrong. Maybe it was too early to tell him the truth about his past...

Celile flicked the thoughts aside as she lowered her teal form onto the hot boulder beneath her paws. Green eyes strained to sort through the members of the small herd. There was a thin male who was obviously sick. His head was drooped, yet he was not eating. He was hardly moving at all... Perhaps he would be willing to feed hungry Celile. The trick is convincing him to give up his life for her... by force or otherwise.

Clermeilli-Pie watched the zebra herd curiously. Should she even try? Probably not. One lioness alone was not going to have a good chance of catching one of those zebras, even the sick one would probably manage to outrun her. This was one of those times she wished she had a friend, or a pride. Even two had a better chance at catching something big than one alone.

She slinked along, keeping low to the ground. Her bright blue fur was best kept out of line of sight, lest it alarm the herd of zebra before she decided if she was going to attempt to catch one. So focused on the zebras was she, that she didn't see the leopardess on the boulder until she was right beside the other feline. "Oh, sorry... are you hunting here?" She wasn't sure she wanted to get on the bad side of anyone just now, lion or otherwise.

A blue ear flicked towards the lioness as she crept closer... Followed by gentle green eyes. Celile's tail flicked lazily as she observed the oblivious lion. It was obvious she was hunting, but she looked terribley alone.

"Huntin'.... Yeh, I was. If that's wha' yeh wanna call it." She casually returned her attention back to the herd they were both stalking. "But I'd call it zebreh watchin'. Ther's jus' no way I can pick one off on my own. I'm waitin' fer one teh get close enough to death so I can step in an' take it the res' of the way." Celile's green eyes flickered again, and they locked with the lioness'. "But at this rate it looks like I'm going teh wait a long while before I can eat again."

"Zebra watching is a very good term for this." Clermeilli-Pie gave the Leopardess an appraising look. They both were hungry, and watching this herd, and both alone. This could work to both their advantages if the leopardess could be convinced to work with the lioness. "I cannot run one of them down myself... and have no one to chase it to or to chase it to me."

"Would not one of those creatures feed both of us?" She watches the herd again and sighs. Clermeilli-Pie was hungry, but another day without a meal probably wouldn't kill her. "This may sound insane... but could we not work together, and perhaps between the two of us take one down?" She waited with her eyes on the zebras, not wanting to see the answer she feared she would get from the leopardess.

"Any of them zebreh could feed a whole pride." Celile showed a wry smirk as she eyed the lion with a mischievous grin. "Insane? Darlin', I think yeh brilliant." The leopardess rose to her paws and stretched her body, clawing her eager claws into the dirt in the process. "And I'd be more than happy to hunt side-by-side with a lioness like yerself." With a swift leap, the teal feline landed beside the pale blue one. "And if yeh'll hear me out, I already have a plan." The leopardess walked with a subtle limp closer to the herd... though there was no sign of injury on any of her legs. "I'm na' tha' great at runnin'... or jumpin'..." The truth of her words seemed to sting her lips as her voice got faint and sad. "But we can corner one of 'um if we chase 'um that way." She nodded towards the collection of rocks and boulders on the opposite end of the herd.

She returned her attention to the lioness, green eyes twinkling eagerly. "Well... what do yeh think?"

Clermeilli-Pie was relieved at the reply she got. Much better than she had hoped for. The leopard did have a point about the zebras' size. They could feed a whole pride. She ducked her head at the praise from the other feline and listens carefully to the plan for hunting. She kept close to the other feline as she got closer to the herd.

"I can run, and I can pounce... my problem is they run faster than I do... If I get one over there, could you perhaps keep it there until I can catch up?" It might not be the best plan in the world, but it didn't have to be so long as it worked. They both needed to eat, and if the leopard could position herself over there in cover and then leap out to keep the zebra pinned, it would buy Clermeilli-Pie the time she needed to catch up to the zebra and kill it.

"Mmmh, yes. It's definitely worth a try." Celile crouched into a stealth mode and began to whisper as the zebras came clearer into view. "Chase one o'er to that rock sheer, then. I'll meetcha there and restrain it 'till yeh come and help meh kill it." With a swing of her slender tail as if saying 'seeyah there' the leopard snuck over to the collection of boulders.

What Celile lacked in speed and grace, she made up for in stealth. It was the only hunting tool she had, besides her teeth and claws. She slid silently across the savannah, and nestled into a bush that would be her hiding place until her prey got close. She was also weary of her scent and the wind, making certain it wouldn't drift towards the zebras, and therefore alerting them of her presence.

Clermeilli-Pie watched the leopardess leave and crouched down to sneak up on the herd. If she could get that sick male picked away from the herd he would be the best choice to chase over to the boulders. She watched him eagerly from her crouch.

By the time she was close enough to make her move, she was calm and focused again. Move too soon and everything would be ruined. She stayed down and watched carefully. When the sick zebra lagged back just a little too far from the herd, that was her cue. The lioness leaped out and startled the herd. But when they moved away from her she managed to cut the male off from the rest and chase him right into the boulders.

When she first got in front of him, she almost got nailed by a hoof, but that was one of the risks of hunting. At least the zebra went where she wanted right into the spot that could be blocked easily. Clermeilli-Pie followed the zebra as quickly as she could, but of course he arrived far before her.

Through keen eyes, Celile spotted the Zebra darting straight into their trap. A wide grin crawled across her face, revealing hungry yellow fangs. Celile was patient, but her gut was not. It growled and churned, but the leopard was determined not to let it interfere with the hunt. All of the muscles in her body tensed, sending ripples across her silky fur. And then it was that moment of judgment... The zebra was within striking range, and in a blur, Celile took the opportunity to dash after it.

Celile put all the effort she could into a weak leap, and sunk her hooked claws into the zebra's flesh around his neck and chest. Startled by its new opponent, the zebra thrashed, throwing its hooves in the air and consequently bruising Celile's vulnerable back legs. A jolt of fear and pain shot through the leopardess, but she refused to loosen her grip. "Hurry!" Through the chaos that rattled her vision, Celile spotted the blue lioness making her way towards their meal. Celile began to search the zebra's neck with powerful jaws, aiming to bring it down with one fatal puncture to its jugular.

Clermeilli-Pie caught up to the zebra and looked for an opening to strike. She did not want to harm the leopard already trying to bring the thing down, but she needed to end it quickly if she was not mistaken. It looked like the leopardess was having some trouble. She crouches and takes a quick aim before leaping at the creature herself.

One clean launch lands her on the back of the zebra, finally forcing it down to its knees which puts those hooves out of commission for a moment. More than long enough for the leopardess to get the strike she needs at the neck. Clermeilli-Pie digs in and puts her weight to holding the zebra down while shredding into it to help it bleed out.

"Get the neck while I hold it." She took her muzzle off for a moment before biting at one of the legs to cripple it and shifting her weight up onto the rump more. She was more concerned with keeping the thing down at this point than getting the killing blow herself.

Her hooked claws were tearing across the delicate flesh, causing red blood to bloom across the black and white. Celile watched the lioness descend upon the zebra, bringing the chaotic struggle to a dull wiggle. She grasped the opportunity and finally plunged her fangs into the kill zone. The sweet blood gushed into her mouth, it was a heavenly taste... that seemed to strengthen her instantly. But she stayed attached to the prey like a tick, refusing to losen her grip until the death of the beast was confirmed. After a few final twitches, it was obvious the zebra wasn't moving again any time soon.

Celile brought her head up with a coy smile, licking the juices from her stained maw. "We make an amazing team, meh friend. I suppose it goes withou' sayin'... let's eat 'till we burst, aye?" With a final chuckle, Celile tore away freely at the wound she had created in the beast's neck.

The lioness ripped into the rump of the zebra with a vengeance. "Hunting is always easier with at least two. I am usually fairly good even on my own, but there is only so much one can do alone. You are a great huntress yourself, and I thank you for the help." She takes another bite and purrs. This was a very good day for both of them, she would bet.

After both felines were sated, Clermeilli-Pie pulled the remains under one of the outcroppings of the rocks and laid down in front of it. "I think we can guard it here while we catch a nap, don't you?" She might sleep, but she did want to just lay there regardless of if she slept. It was still rather hot and she had a full belly.

The meal was satisfying and delicious, regardless of how sick the zebra might have been in its life. Just moments within the first bite, Celile felt the new energy pulsing through her muscles. But now... after the struggle and now that her gut was full of someone else's gut... Celile felt the infamous post-meal fatigue taking its effect. She filled up quite quickly, longing to eat months worth of meat, but unfortunately she knew her stomach would never cooperate with that. Celile didn't complain when Clermeilli-Pie dragged the remainder of the carcass into the shade. It was when she stood to join her that she felt the pain jolt in her legs.

"I'm hurt a lil', I think..." She grunted as she limped heavily and slumped within the shade. "Take a lil give a lil, I suppose..." Easily brushing the subject aside, Celile glanced at her new lion friend. "A nap sounds fantastic. Though... I don't thin' we ever exchanged names. Mine's Celile."

"Clermeilli-Pie." She watched the leopardess with concern. "Will you be alright?" She was sleepy, but she did not wish her new friend to be hurt. Especially not after the female had helped fill Clermeilli-Pie's belly along with her own.

"A wonderful meal should always end with a good nap, in my experience."

"I'll be jus' fine. As lon' as I can still walk." Celile gave the the lion a reassuring grin. "Clermeilli-Pie..." She snickered. "Tha's a cute name. We should hun' again sometime."

She rested her head on her paws. She closed her eyes, the grin slowly fading as she drifted into a restful slumber. Celile knew she'd return to the rogue lands before lioness even woke up... But she didn't bother saying goodbye. She was confident they'd see each other again, whether in this life or the next. The world is impossibly small, anyway.
