 Amaidi giggled a bit. The sun was over head. She was in her favorite moor, well more along the beach but the marshland covered with heather was right behind her. It was the beginning of fall so the temperature was just right and today the tides where low enough that she could see all the different tide pools and caves that where previously under water yesterday. Even better would be if Mercury where here. She suddenly blushed at that thought and went chasing after some seagull. She should probably tell her dad, but then again he didn’t like surprises and still thought of her as a small kit. She had heard this was very common among parents.

 Mercury was currently struggling through a patch of marsh. After the several times he had come back to visit Amaidi, you'd think he knew the land better. The directionaly challenged fox kept managing to set the bar for getting lost. He was sure he was getting closer though! He'd found costline and was following it, knowing it would eventually lead him to more open land.
Mercury blushed a little when thinking of his pretty Amaidi, though he had yet to recieve the honor of calling her his mate. They had been (what was the term? Seeing each other? That would work) seeing each other for the last two full moons.
During that time Mercury had come to find that he had more flowerly romance potential in him than he thought. He squirmed with embarassment thinking of all the pet names he secretly had for Amaidi, but when he was with her the names just seemed perfectly natural. It helped that he enjoyed the tough love Amaidi would sometimes dish out, like a kit with her first crush.
Ah ha! There was the beach up ahead. As if to complete the picture of perfection Amaidi came skipping into view, chasing after a seagull that was insulting her in the spectacular seagull vocabulary. Mercury sped up in a run towards the beach, hoping he didn't fall into any pits like he did last time. Honestly, it had been very well disguised and who imagined there would be giant holes in the land?

Amaidi had a sudden feeling come over her and she stopped in the tormenting of the sea gull which was doing a fine job of cursing back at her in sea gull. She stopped and looked up to see Mercury standing a little way on the coast line. A rather excited evil grin passed over her features and with a running leap she tackled on him pinning him to the ground. “Hi Mercury I was just thinking about you. You must have some magical summoning ability” she teased rolling off to allow him to stand up if he wanted. “The tide pools and everything are visible today. It’s really really cool” she beamed. Now the day was perfectly perfect in her opinion. There was a storm on the horizon but she didn’t feel like it would come any closer at the current moment in time.

Mercury laughed, making sure to relax his muscles right before Amaidi hit. There would be less bruises later if he did that before she tackled him.
"Tide pools, eh? I remember you telling me about them before, but we hadn't gotten a chance to see them. Lead the way then, my lovely ninja." Later if he thought about it he would wince at the nicknames. They just seemed natural at the time though.

Amaidi inwardly rolled her eyes. Mercury came up with some rather odd nicknames but since he seemed to like it she often didnt bring it up. Its not like they bothered her at all. "Yes, the tide was just normal. Today it is extremely low so you can see them all. Come on come on" she said with an excited smile turning around to check that he was following her. Once she saw he was she went the normal path like she was going to her cave but turned right instead of left when they came to a small little fork.

The smell of ocean had already been strong in Mercury's nostrils. Now the scent seemed to intensify. He sneezed. It never ceased to amaze him how Amaidi always seemed about to find her way in and out of the complexities of this place. And yet, this was quite complex for him.
Mercury noticed the storm sitting far out on the ocean, like it was waiting to rush at them. "You don't think the storm will give us trouble, do you?"

Amaidi sniffed the air and looked out at the ocean again before shaking her head. "No the storm shouldn't bother us for quite a while. I'll keep an eye on it if you want though and tell you if it decides to shift course and come closer." Amaidi stated looking over her shoulder again just to make sure she hadnt lost mercury. She had accidentally done that once and was still apologizing for it. "Finally here we are"

Mercury gingerly leaned over to peer from the rock ledge into the pools of water beneath. What he saw took his breath away. It was like staring at the bottom of the ocean, complete with coral and starfish and normal fish, all without the pounding waves and slippery rocks.
"They're amazing," Mercury said, looking up at Amaidi with gold eyes shining. In a way it was even better than that time Amaidi had taken him to see swamp flowers that glowed when they bloomed at night. That was one of the few times she had lost him in the swamp, and it took hours for her to track down the rainbow fox.

"Isnt it" Amaidi smiled leaning forward she gently reached into the water and lightly poked a sea anemone watching as it shrunk up into its self. She laughed a bit as it was very soft and squishy feeling. "Its very fun to be able to be soo close to this much life and watch it interact when you normally cant." Amaidi told mercury. A little crab scuttled by trying to find a new shell for its self.

"Watch, yes. Interact, no. At least not for me," Mercury said, laughing. "It appears you aren't the only one who enjoys inflicting minor amounts of pain in an overenthusiastic bout of joy. I think I still have scars under my fur from that squishy creature that time we went swimming in the ocean."
Of course the jerk to being poisoned by a jellyfish was that for the two days he lay shivering and delerious, Amaidi had looked after him. Or he thought she did, he couldn't really remember.

Amaidi blushed thinking about that time in question and shook her head. "I told you not to touch the jelly fish. You should be lucky it wasn't that poisonous you can die from those things you know" Amaidi told him shaking her head. "and then I would be sad and I dont like being sad so I would have to bring you back to life and make you regret ever doing that to me" she glared her rather scary side coming out. She shook her head and looked back down at the crab returning back to normal. Normally she was rather nice and gentle but anything that threatened her time with mercury or tried to hurt him in some way brought a rather dark personality out of her. No one dares ask what happened to that jellyfish.

Mercury laughed, leaning over an nuzzling Amaidi. "I do my very best to make sure none but you are allowed to inflict damage upon my person. I just can't help having some horrible luck in the injury department."

"You do seem to have really bad luck. We should go to some witch doctor and see if there is some piece of jewelry to improve your luck" Amaidi plotted thinking about the best way to better protect mercury. He really did have bad luck. She giggled a bit, 'although I do like all the times I get to play nurse' she thought privately.

"Ah, but you wouldn't know what to do with yourself if I stopped running into trouble and started being the one who had to save you," Mercury said, a teasing grin on his face.
It was true in a way. They had a "damsel in distress, knight in shining armor" sort of relationship, except he was the damsel and Amaidi was the knight. Amaidi wasn't one to just sit around and let others save her, no matter what impressions her playful nature gave off. Mercury had never met a more capable fox hide their strength so well behind a playful and innocent demeanor.

"mmm we would just have to join some super hero tribe and I'll get my fix of saving people that way" Amaidi laughed and then ducked as all of a sudden the sea gull from earlier decided it was going out to sea and wanted one last bout of revenge for being chasing and mockingly dive bombed towards her. When she jumped out of the way it squawked before flying off. "Ugh I hate sea gulls"
