Lunch time. It was one of the few times that he actually chose to walk into a large, crowded room full of loud, obnoxious pokemon. Lunch in hand he picked a table in the corner of the room and set his lunch on it before sliding his backpack off to rummage through its contents. Finally he pulled out one of his textbooks and positioned it so that he could eat and read at the same time.

It wasn't really that Caellum was anti-social or didn't want to talk, on the contrary he actually talked quite a lot with anyone he liked. It was actually more that he despised everyone equally until they'd proven themselves likable and worth of his time. Never mind that he really did need to get some studying done unlike, apparently, the rest of the obnoxious pokemon in the cafeteria.

He lifted a hand moving to rest his elbow on the table and lace his fingers through his hair and resting his cheek against his palm. Blue eyes were concealed by heavy lids as they roamed over the page, not pausing even as he slipped a fork full of food into his mouth, seeming to choose automatically. Slowly the noise faded to a low buzz as he became more and more fixated on what he was reading.

Perhaps it seemed odd that he enjoyed learning and studying so much, especially considering his bad attitude. Never mind that he also smoked worse than a chimney and could drink with the best of them; It really wasn't typical nerd behavior. Perhaps he was wired wrong somewhere or had simply not listened well to his trainer (which he definitely knew was true), but he didn't mind really. People tended to leave him alone, at least, and he preferred it that way.

Something suddenly drew him out of his science-induced reverie, causing his brows to furrow as he tried to pick up where he left off. Finally when Caellum had read the same line over four times and still wasn't grasping what it said, he lifted his head, intent on focusing on his food. However such plans were quickly wiped from his mind when he locked gazes with another pokemon, one brow lifting and the other shooting down in a look of startled confusion. They then narrowed as he slowly took the other man in; golden eyes, unruly mop of hair... Luxray--- Luxray?

Almost immediately he scowled, his expression darkening as he lifted his fork, pointing at him, "What.... The hell... Are you staring at?"

Hector wasn't paying a particular lot of attention to the food he was eating, mostly because he was distracted by his observations of various people walking by, but partially because the food was not as good when he did not cook it himself. Resting his chin in his hand, Hector absently stirred his food with his fork, his gaze moving out across the crowded cafeteria. He always enjoyed seeing other people, seeing how they interacted with one another, finding out the little quirks about them. People themselves fascinated Hector, and people watching was one of his favorite pastimes (and, he would argue vehemently, not as creepy as people made it out to be).

He was sitting at his favorite table as well, the one off in the farthest corner of the cafeteria that people tended to nickname the "reject" table. Hector had no qualms about sitting there, however, and rather liked the nickname secretly. Bringing his fork to his mouth, he chewed on a piece of chicken slowly, golden eyes crossing from Pokemon to Pokemon until they landed on a particularly interesting looking Squirtle. The young man was wearing a distinctly irritated expression as he surveyed the bustling room, holding a tray of food in one hand. He moved slowly, eyeing each table carefully before choosing a seat at the table next to Hector's. Sitting down, he slipped the bag from his shoulders and pulled a large textbook from it, setting it on the table in front of him, beginning to read it while he ate.

Hector raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised that someone with that sort of irritated expression would enjoy reading a school textbook. But then again, one couldn't always judge a book by its cover, now could they? Not to mention -

Oh. He was looking over. Oops. Hector felt his eyes connect with the Squirtle's, saw the scowl that crossed his face in an instant. He smiled at him, forking another piece of chicken into his mouth.

"Oh, sorry." he said with a small, sheepish laugh. "I was just...observing, that's all. What are you reading?"

Caellum felt his eye twitch in annoyance when the other man spoke so casual. Observing. Of course. Almost immediately he straightened and snapped his book shut, glowering at the other man as if he was one of the most hated people in the school; Which he was in the squirtle's book because he'd stolen his sunglasses when he was still young and had been generally annoying.

Rolling his eyes he looked at his book, then back to the Luxray. "None of your business."

He stared at the Luxray for a long moment before his brows furrowed a little. Why was... Hector? Trying to make casual conversation with him anyways? The electric Pokemon should have known better than to show his face around him after the nice little rumble they'd had in the hallway. Too bad the Luxray's trainer had interfered...

"Why are you talking to me anyways?" he snapped, looking back down to his plate as he began to spear some of the vegetables with his fork. "We're not friends."

Hector was slightly taken aback at the hostile tone the Squirtle gave to him when he spoke. From his own perceptions, he had already (sort of) figured out that Squirtle was not exactly the most sociable of people, but he was not at sure as to where the angry, irritated voice came from. After all, he hadn't been doing anything offensive...had he? Quickly, Hector glanced down at his front, making sure that he had not spilled anything on himself. Once he was certain of the fact that he was, in fact, still clean and well groomed (well...with the exception of his hair, that was, but Hector never bothered with his hair, so that wasn't all that unusual) he looked back up, raising his eyebrows. Perhaps he had been mistaken in the annoyed tone, or perhaps he had pried into something that the Squirtle did not want to show. That was not out of the ordinary either; a lot people preferred their privacy.

Hector was obviously not one of those people.

"You're right, it's not my business." he answered cheerfully, but his smile faltered at the Squirtle's next words, his face screwing up in confusion.

"What do you mean we're not friends?" he said, slightly flummoxed, but then he let out a small laugh, brushing some of the stray strands of dark hair from his face. "Of course we're not! I'm just trying to get to know you better, that's all! What's your name?

"Who are you?"

His expression slowly morphed into one of puzzlement at the Luxray's words, his brows furrowing as he took a bite of his food, looking suspicious. Was he attempting to play stupid to try and get on his good side then, of course, do something horribly devious to him? That seemed like the most logical reason behind the other man's words, but he simply couldn't fathom why Hector was being so... Agreeable and... Oddly sincere.

However his confusion simply grew at the next words. Trying to get to know him? He thought he knew more than enough about the Luxray to hate him, especially with his obnoxious attitude and no understanding of the word 'mine'. But the person he was addressing seemed... Different. It was odd.

Then the golden question was asked. Caellum's face went a little slack with shock, his lips parting before he immediately switched back to anger. The b*****d didn't even remember him! That was like adding insult to injury and stoked the somewhat docile flames of his anger into life.

"You... Don't... Remember..." he bit out, eyes narrowing. "My name. Is Caellum. I don't like you."
PostPosted: Sat Sep 25, 2010 7:50 pm

"Remember?" Hector said, his eyebrows drawing together in confusion. Was he supposed to have seen this Squirtle sometime before this particular afternoon? He twisted a braid in his hair and tried to rack his memory for the Squirtle's face, but he could not for the life of him remember a time when he had seen that young man before.

Hector slid his legs off of the chair next to him and stood up, coming to stand next to the Squirtle, putting his face abnormally close to the other young man's, tapping his chin thoughtfully as he looked him over.

"Nope." Hector said, leaning back after a second, an apologetic smile on his face. "I'm afraid I don't remember who you are. Should I though?"

This was not the first time Hector had not recognized a certain person or another. Despite his best efforts, his memory when it came to brief, minute interactions with others was not all that great, though once a person was significant enough to create some sort of connection with him, he would never forget them again. So the fact that he did not recognize the Squirtle probably meant that he had A) never met him before or B) they had met for probably one or two seconds before.

Hector shrugged off this rather useless information and reached into his pocket, unwrapping a lollipop and sticking it in his mouth. Rolling the candy on his tongue, he flashed a bright, wide smile in the Squirtle's direction.

"Caellum, is it?" he said cheerfully. "My name is Hector. It's nice to meet you. I'm sorry if you don't like me, but shouldn't you get to know someone first before you choose to dislike them?"

Caellum watch the other man attempt to conjure up something from the no doubt cobwebbed recesses of his memory with growing annoyance. He watched the Luxray move before, quickly leaning away as the other man practically shoved his face inside his comfort zone, defiling it as none before had dared to. His face contorted into one of alarm, slowly morphing into one of hatred at the Luxray's words. If the words weren't bad enough on their own, the tone was so 'golly gee shucks' that it made him want to slam his fist into the other pokemon's teeth.

"Yeah, I think you should. Though, don't try to think harder; you might break something." he retorted, his tone cold as he picked up his book, moving to shove it back into his bag.

He looked back to the other man, his eye twitching at the sight of the familiar lollipop. Yes, this was definitely the boy who had made it onto his top hated list when he was younger. If there had been any further doubt in his mind that this was the same Luxray it was effectively squashed when he introduced himself; Definitely the same person and that perky attitude only served to aggravate him further.

"Yes, Hector. I remember that being the name your trainer was yelling when attempting to get your attention." he muttered, moving to sling his backpack over his shoulder as he stood. "And I think I got to know you fairly well when I was attempting to slam my fist into your face."

"I can't remem...." Hector started to say, then stopped abruptly, his eyes moving to rest on the Squirtle - Caellum's face, which had turned from an expression of simple dislike to one of pure anger and...hatred? Hector's eyes narrowed slightly, but he kept the smile on his face, not willing to get rid of it just yet. Perhaps the other boy had just been joking, though his tone would suggest otherwise. However, Hector was not about to get down just from that one (albeit, rather biting) statement.

"Hey, now." he said cheerfully, his teeth crunching down on the lollipop in his mouth. "I may not be the bookish type, true."

Hector reached up, twisting the lollipop as he scrutinized Caellum. There was obviously a very large chip on the Squirtle's shoulder, though Hector was not exactly sure as to where exactly it had come from. Try as he might, he could not seem to remember this particular boy, though it seemed as if the other one certainly remembered him.

What could I have possibly done to meet this guy? Hector thought, his eyes raking up and down the Squirtle with a puzzled look on his face. He's not in any of my classes, and he doesn't seem the type to normally enjoy what I enjoy. So where...

He was interrupted from his internal musings when Caellum stood up. From where he was standing the Squirtle was a few inches taller than he was, and Hector had to look up slightly to see him. However, he did not need to move any closer to hear the angry, muttered words that fell from his lips as he turned to leave.

My...trainer..?

Hector's hand shot out, gripping the Squirtle's wrist. He maneuvered himself to stand in front of him, and then folded his arms across his chest. The smile was still on his face, the lollipop still in his mouth, but Hector's eyes were narrowed slightly, his eyebrows raised.

"I'm sorry if I offended you in any way." he said, honestly meaning it. His lower lip jutted out in a sort of half pout. "But it's not very nice to just pretend that you're all big and tough. I don't know who you are, and I'm just trying to be friendly."

Caellum immediately went rigid when the Luxray's hand curled around his wrist, practically jerking to a stop. Even with people he knew he didn't enjoy casual touch or invasion of his personal space at all. Thus the fact that the other man had decided to do so twice since he'd encounter him was serving only to anger him further.

When the Luxray darted in front of him he glared at him, tugging his wrist free of his grasp. He calmed slightly when the physical contact was broken but was still more annoyed than usual... Which was saying something. Quickly he glanced out of the corner of his eye, noting that some of the occupants of the cafeteria were watching them; Couldn't cause a scene then.

The squirtle heaved a heavy sigh, irritation growing a little at the pout. "Apology would be good if you remembered." he muttered, shaking his head.

Looking at the rest of the cafeteria Caellum heaved a sigh and sat back down, looking borderline petulant. The last thing that he needed was the get unwanted attention because he'd stormed out of the cafeteria in a huff like a five year old. Despite that he continued to glower at the Luxray, not wanting to stay and talk at all.

"We were kids. You stole something of mine. We got into a fight." he explained, continuing to glare at him, his tail swishing in agitation behind him. "Thus I don't like you much."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 26, 2010 3:36 pm

Hector gave an apologetic shrug. He was very much aware that they were getting quite a few stares from those around them, but the cafeteria was not all that full, at least. Not that he minded the attention, although it was slightly strange that Caellum did, since he looked around briefly before flopping back into his chair, a sulking expression on his face. It rather surprised Hector, who had not thought that Caellum was one to care much about appearances. However, he shrugged it off and smiled down at the Squirtle, hiding his laugh behind one hand reaching up to twist the lollipop in his mouth. Caellum was looking less like a surly teenager and more like a petulant child, and it somewhat amused Hector.

"I'm sorry I can't remember what exactly I think you think I should be remembering." he said with a slightly sheepish smile, his cheeks tinging a faint pink. "Although you seem like the type I would remember, so maybe you're mistaken?"

Hector's brow furrowed at the rest of the Squirtle's words, and he frowned slightly, clicking the lollipop against his teeth as he racked his brain, trying to figure out where exactly that scenario could have taken place. He didn't remember much about his life with Strat in his earlier years, but he would have remembered something like that, wouldn't he have? Besides, he wasn't the type to steal, was he? Had he really taken something of this Squirtle's when he was a kid? His trainer Strat would probably be shaking his head in exasperation at his Pokemon right now, but then again, Strat himself was not exactly the most reliable when it came to memory. Or rather, Strat only remembered what he wanted to remember. If it was no use to him, then Strat conveniently had no memory of it.

Hector shrugged, beaming a wide grin to Caellum.

"Nope!" he said cheerfully after a minute. "Don't remember at all! You're probably thinking of a different Luxray!"

Blushing. Was the Luxray seriously blushing? Caellum gave the other man an incredulous look before heaving a sigh, his shoulders slumping a little. It was growing increasingly difficult to keep holding the grudge in the face of the other Pokemon's ignorance. Never mind that, in running the events over in his head, they seemed almost silly to be angry about still. Despite that... He couldn't bring himself to fully let it go.

"Maybe I hit you too hard." he muttered, promptly going back to his food which had been prepared to abandon moments before, shoving a fork full into his mouth.

At his next words Caellum paused again, giving the perky Luxray another narrow look and slowly setting his fork down. Maybe he really had hit the other boy too hard when they were young. He seemed quite different from what he had been when he was younger, at least from what he could recall. Heaving a sigh he plucked off his sunglasses for a moment, staring at them before holding them up for him to see.

"...You remember these? Because I sincerely doubt there are two Luxray named Hector running around this school, y'know?" he muttered, watching him intently.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 27, 2010 9:10 pm

"When did you hit me?" Hector said, sounding perplexed. "I don't remember..."

The Squirtle had sat down again, looking irritated and exasperated as he shoveled more food into his mouth. Caellum reached up, pulling the sunglasses away from his eyes and held them up, dangling them in front of Hector's face. Hector eyed them for a moment, both curious and confused. They seemed somewhat familiar, and it was like it was on the tip of his tongue; a fragment of a memory. He reached out, taking them from the Squirtle and slid them onto his own face.

"Ah!"

He did remember now. Running through the school hallways when he was younger with Strat on his heels, knocking into another boy accidentally. Hector had taken the sunglasses - these sunglasses, and tried to run off with him as his own. The other boy had tackled him, they had bickered, and then Strat had pulled him off. The memory was vague and distant, somewhat convoluted, but at least he did remember it now.

"Oh!" said Hector cheerfully, shrugging sheepishly as he took the sunglasses off and spun them around. "I thought you were a Slowpoke that time."

Caellum felt his eyes narrow a little as the other man took his sunglasses but retrained himself from reaching out and snatching them back. Blue eyes, narrowed in mild annoyance, watched Hector as he deposited his sunglasses upon his face, rolling his eyes at the suddenly exclamation. The squirtle watch the comprehension dawn on the other man's face and grimaced; At least he could still hold on to his reason to dislike Hector.

"You remember?" he questioned, though he already knew the answer.

When the Luxray spun his sunglasses he immediately reached out and took them sliding them back onto his face. However the final comment back his eyes narrow, one of them twitching in anger at the statement; Was he being a smartass? Was he trying to push his luck with Caellum on purpose? Of course, the other man was an electric pokemon, so he supposed he didn't pose much threat, but still.

"Are you trying to piss me off?" he snapped, hand tightening around his fork. "Cus you're doing a good job."
PostPosted: Sat Oct 09, 2010 12:39 pm

Hector let Caellum take his sunglasses back, though he was a little startled at how forcefully the Squirtle snatched them from his fingers. Sheepishly, Hector reached a hand up, running his fingers through his long, messy dark hair

"Ahaha yes, I remember." he said, giving a half embarrassed shrug. "It's just been such a long time, is all. And I could have sworn that incident was with a Slowpoke, not a Squirtle. Guess my eyesight wasn't so good back then."

He'd been quite young, after all. Besides, at that age, Hector had been more focused on running away from Strat than anything else and he had often gotten into squabbles with the other boys his age. Not particularly mean or violent ones, but over silly reasons. In one instance, a Bellosom had taken his bag of lollipops, and Hector had not exactly been pleased about that. Thinking back on it made him feel a little silly that he had gotten into a fight over such a simple reason, but Hector shrugged it off. The past was the past, after all.

Caellum was looking at him with an angry expression on his face. Hector's eyebrows drew together in slight confusion.

"Er...no?" he said, his voice more of a question rather than a statement. "Am I? I'm not sure why I would try to piss someone off. Why are you pissed off?"

"I see." he murmured, closing his eyes for a moment in annoyance.

When it came to chance encounters it seemed that Caellum had absolutely horrible luck. If it wasn't someone that would rather electrocute him for their amusement it was someone that wanted to be his 'friend'. What was wrong with the people in Arcana? It seemed like few of them acted in a 'normal' manner... Either they were one side of the spectrum or the other. Either they were amused by the pain they could inflict on him, both mentally and physically, or they were nice in a manner that was completely aggravating.

"You're just generally aggravating." he muttered, rolling his eyes and going back to his food.

It wasn't really that he loathed Hector with every fiber of his being... Yet. He just was annoyed, both by being confused for a Slowpoke, of all things, and that the other man hadn't remembered at all. Apparently he wasn't really important enough for anyone to remember. Then again he hadn't really been the most spectacularly behaved of pokemon when he was younger, and not even really as an adult, either. After all, he was fairly certain that he was one of the few in the school that even gave nicotine a second glance, let alone actually smoking it.

"Shouldn't you be in class instead of bugging me, Hector?"
