What is the Hibernation Diet?

Well, some British pharmacist/nutritionist dude found out that the miracle wonder food known around the world as "Honey" can actually help you lose weight while you sleep! I kid you not!

How does it work?

Basically you eat a couple spoons of raw honey right before bed. The good stuff in the honey speeds up your metabolism and makes your liver burn through fat while you sleep (this is good for your liver too btw). This in addition to a healthy diet (PUT DOWN THAT LITTLE DEBBIE RIGHT NOW! scream YA YOU WITH THE COMPUTER! PUT IT DOWN AND GO EAT A CARROT!) (Seriously you just burn fat in your sleep! Are you going to go put it back on with that slice of pizza?) has been proven to increase overall health and of course decrease fat in the people who have tried it!

What do I do?

A spoonful of honey helps the fat burn doo~own,
The fat burn doo~own,
The fat burn down!
A spoonful of honey helps the fat burn doo~own,
IN! The most de~light~ful waaaaay!

Seriously, eat a full tablespoon or two of raw honey right before bed (or mix it in a drink). Go to sleep. Rinse. Lather. Repeat as necessary!

Why should I try this?

Even if it doesn't work and you don't lose any weight, you have NOTHING to lose by trying it and everything to gain! (Unless of course you're allergic to honey, then that might be bad)

Honey is RICH in minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, sulphur, iron and phosphate. It also contains vitamins B1, B2, C, B6, B5 and B3 all of which change according to the qualities of the nectar and pollen. The minerals copper, iodine, and zinc exist also in it in small quantities. Did I mention it is also an antioxidant and contains amino acids?

Honey is also a natural antibiotic and anti inflammatory that can increase your healing and sooth irritation. (You can also use it as an antiseptic in open wounds! Go figure!) Honey is such a strong antibiotic that combined with peroxide, it can even combat MRSA which is notoriously resistant to antibiotics.

Honey also helps the body rehydrate water helping you to recover faster from hangovers and diarrhea and promotes/improves overall kidney, liver, and intestinal health!

Honey also treats allergies! Because raw honey contains small amounts of pollen from local plants (Not enough to trigger the body to react though) by eating raw honey you can get you body used to and then resistant of the pollen and eventually you will no longer have seasonal allergies! (My dad is currently trying this because we recently found out his prolonged use of allergy medicine is destroying his liver. Allergy medicines such as Claratin, Lordatine, and even benydryl can be more damaging to your liver than drinking alcohol!)

Who shouldn't try this diet?

Well people who are allergic obviously. Also do not give raw honey to infants! Honey may contain botulism spores. In older children and adults this is not a problem since their digestive system destroys them, but infants have no protection.

How else can honey make me beautiful?

Slap it on your face, smear it on your hair, and soak it in your bath! Trust me! cool

Some people actually do believe it or not. I sometimes do when my sheets are in the laundry and I'm too lazy to dig through my linen closet to find another. Don't prefer it though, mattresses are scratchy xp

Then there is always the possibility her sheets were just a bit too small and they popped off the corner while she was sleeping. God I hate when that happens mad

I have my made up song stuck in my head! mrgreen

A spoonful of honey, that is all it takes
It changes bread and water into tea and cakes While it trims your waist!
A spoonful of honey goes a long, long way
Have yourself a healthy helping every day...

It amazing what we younger generations have forgotten because of capitalizing pharmaceuticals. When I first heard about this diet, I started researching honey all over the internet and in many religions from Christan and Muslim to ancient Egyptian and Greek, it is consider a "food of heaven/of the gods/ect" because it's just so freaking awesome!

When my dog had kennel cough last year, I put honey and a drop of peroxide in her water and she stopped coughing in a couple hours and was almost healed by morning!

Well I guess that maes sense we have these goose feather matresses that go over the bed. They are like really fluffy blankets. LOVE LOVE LOVE My goose feathers.

Some times I forget to put the sheet over them and my husband plops down on them. I hate sleeping on bare matress. How ever my futon is suede so it feels not so bad. I still hate it. I can't sleep if my bare skin is not touching blanket underneath me.................Gah just thinking about it makes me squirm. lol so funny the hang ups some people have in life.

This thread is really awesome btw. I use honey all the time for pretty much all things. I didn't know it could be used in wounds though. Right up there with coffee grounds I assume in the first aid department.

I like it in my hair in my food and on my butt....Don't ask....

SO buying honey tomorrow!

Make sure it's real raw honey that way you get the most benefits. Pasteurized honey doesn't have all the extra goodies the raw stuff has and you have to watch out for some stores that like to dilute honey with the much cheaper corn syrup (this is illegal in FL now).

The best place to go is a Farmer's Market, the more local the honey, the better it is for you! blaugh

My mom did this diet a few years ago. It works pretty good. You also have to make sure its actually honey, not honey syrup. She quit the diet though because it gave her weird and warped bee dreams.

Wow interesting! Thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to stay away from night time honey. If my ribs start protruding MORE rather than LESS, someone gonna start shoving food down my throat. xD lolz

I tried this last year and didn't really get results...though perhaps I didn't try it out for long enough. & perhaps I was using the wrong type of honey.
