Chaka was bored and, consequently, annoyed. He didn't have anything in particular he had to do and he'd failed in locating Shisa- which was rare but they had been a bit awkward since dealing with Rap.. but they didn't talk about that, he didn't even want to think about it. He had considered going to find one of his other siblings to harass but he wasn't sure they would be much more entertaining and he hadn't much idea where they spent most of their time now.
Wandering aimlessly, he was out away from the central lands but not too near the borders.. he was aware of how close he was getting, not wanting to be surprised by any guards, though it might have livened things up.

Kulana (big picture is big)
It was so hot here. The dark-furred lioness stepped gingerly across the searing sand, her paws not yet accustomed to just how much heat the loose grains could deal. The sun burned down on the lone figure, her pawsteps carrying her to an even lonelier place, and for a moment she stopped her stumbling gait to look behind her to the heart of the Firekin communal area. Did she really want to leave that safety of the central pride and go exploring the desert all on her lonesome? She wanted to learn as much about how new home as she could, but she still wasn't entirely sure where the Firekin boundaries began and ended. It would be completely unbecoming to get lost (and probably die) within her very first days of being here. That victorious duel she had just won to seal her place in the pride would have been for naught!
The memory of the duel, and especially of her winning it, caused the lioness to chuckle, and it was with this sound that she turned back to walking headlong into the empty desert. If she could conquer that duel, then she could conquer this land! The power that the Firekin morals advocated was attractive to her, and what initially drew her to the lands when she had nowhere else to go. She couldn't let go of that now that she was in the thick of things.
Setting her red eyes on the golden horizon, she noted a dark blip far off, easily distinguished against the light landscape. Was that...a bush? Snorting, she adjusted her directions toward the dark spot, her speed increasing a bit as she hopped across the sand. It did not take long for the distance to close, and for the spot to give itself away as another lion. Oh, how fun! Time to acquaint herself with some other pride-goers.
Smiling coyly, Kulana continued to approach, knowing that the lion would now be able to see her just as well as she could see him.

Normally, Chaka was uninterested in being terribly social. Now was not much different, where he had wandered far away from the busiest parts of the pride on his own, but that also made it nearly impossible to ignore the fact there was a stranger was headed right for him. She was the right colors and held herself with the right attitude but she looked almost nothing like any firekin Chaka knew of. Chances were, he decided, that meant she was a former rogue. He didn't personally know many of his pridemates but he could recognize certain families.. most of the time.
Deciding against the more apparently-desirable choice of continuing on his way, he stopped and stood where he was, watching her come closer and closer.
"Lost?" he called out when she was close enough to hear him.

Drawing closer, Kulana's eyes flashed quickly over the male as she sized him up. He was seemingly a perfect example of a Firekin - big, muscled, and probably perfectly capable of putting both of those traits to good use. Larger than the one she had defeated, but her arrogance internally told her that she could still take him on. Dueling seemed to be central to the pride's core, and already the lioness was transforming her thoughts to match this mindset. Everyone was a potential opponent. She guessed that he was born in the pride, but she'd also seen some great hulkers during her travels as a rogue and couldn't be too sure.
Kulana flicked him a grin at his question, her tail swaying behind her as she stood casually. "No, just taking in the scenery," she replied, her eyes darting sideways to glance at the sand, and then back again to glance at...more sand. Taking in the scenery indeed. "Though I must say there's not much to see out here," she purred. Her eyes finally landed on his face at her last comment, her smile transitioning to a smirk. It was an insult, if only an underhanded one. "I thought this place would have something beyond pathetic lions moping in the sand, but I guess I was wrong." If he didn't catch that last one, the lioness had no doubt the brute would pick up on those words. She didn't quite have a solid idea of why she was heckling this stranger, at least not beyond simple amusement and curiosity. Kulana had always been someone to test boundaries, especially with her tongue. How much were these Firekin willing to take? She had wanted to learn about her new pride, after all.

Move: Miss!
Chaka knew he was starting something, suggesting the stranger didn't know where she was, so he wasn't terribly surprised by the attitude he was greeted with. He smirked, following her gaze when she commented on the scenery. There were some different things to see but it was, for the most part, just sand. When she took a subtle shot at him, he looked back at her-- though he seemed to trying to figure out if she meant something by it. He didn't have to wonder long, the second remark was unmistakable. She was provoking him, and now whether or not she intended it that way, he was taking it as a challenge.
He turned himself into a more aggressive stance, pausing long enough only to make sure she seemed aware of the intention to begin a duel. And then he started the duel the same way he started most duels, running and leaping at Kulana. Either he would tackle her or get her moving, and that was all he wanted.
