Ezio yawned lazily from his perch on a fallen pillar, head tilted back to peer up to the high windows that filled the temple with light. Both parents being Guardians, there just weren't many opportunities for himself and his siblings to play outside... And it was getting horribly boring. Mismatched eyes drifted down slowly to peer at the guards who watched over the doors to their nice big prison, smirking slowly... All he needed was a little distraction, and it wouldn't be hard at all to slip out and take a walk outside... But what, or rather, who to use..? It was rare, but his dear twin wasn't shadowing him today. Both a blessing and an inconvenience since he couldn't use his brother as a diversion today. Still, at least he wasn't being lectured about his plotting...
She was playing outside at the moment. Jamila's parents let her romp around with her seven other siblings all day and come home to eat and sleep. Her parents, Mato and Tibu, were very caring, but they were stressed easily with eight little ones under paw every day. So they encouraged their children to go play. And play she did. The pink and light pink female was walking amongst fallen pillars, attempting to keep her balance. This was a type of training, honestly. She wanted to be the best balancer in the whole pride, so when she set off to rescue people, she could go on ledges and stuff without falling off. Being a cub, however, meant she did not have the greatest balance. She found herself flat on her back in the sand more often than not. However, it did not stop her from continuing. So she was a little dusty, big deal! Dust didn't hurt that many, and she'd jump in the watering hole for a bath later. Right now, her red eyes were focused on the pillars further ahead. She could see someone laying on one of them, but couldn't make out male, female, or age. Never hurts to just walk up and talk to someone!
Slowly, tail flicking, he crept further up the pillar, eyes flicking to the ones further ahead, outside the walls. It wouldn't take much... Just a little further... His smirk returned as he moved a bit further forward, un-noticed by the guards. Specifically, the guard closer to himself, who's tail was resting against the pillar he was on... That is.. Until his small paw slammed down on the appendage, claws extended. It didn't do much damage, but the guard gave a start, leaping into the other one and causing a bit fuss. Laughing out, he quickly dashed forward, looking back rather than ahead at the fussing lions. So, naturally, he didn't see the other cub on the pillars he was dashing across. Not until he slammed into her headfirst, sending both off into the sand. " Darn! So close to freedom.. I can't get caught now.. " He growled as he pulled himself up from the sand. He was quick to grab the other cub, one paw covering her mouth to keep her silent as he drug her with him back behind the pillars and out of the adults sight.
BAM!
She was in the sand, a pile of dust. She sputtered and coughed her discomfort, but the other didn't heed it. Instead. a paw clamped over her mouth to muffle her and a growl in her ear. Her ears all but melted to her skull as she was now dragged behind a pillar.
Once there, Jamila licked his paw in an attempt to get it off of her face and allow real air to flow to her lungs. Ugh, now she needed a drink. She had sand all in her mouth from that paw and the fall. Her head kind of hurt from where they bumped heads and her back was sore from where she landed. All in all, this was turning out to be a very, very bad day so far. What next? Was it going to rain and get her completely muddy?
" Jus' keep it silent, mio caro. " He purred as he let her go, pulling away to lean up on the pillar, peeking over it. They were looking for the one who caused the trouble, but it looked like they were focusing on looking inside the temple, rather than outside of it. Which meant he successfully escaped for now. Grinning slowly, he slid back down out of sight. No need to get careless now. Slowly, his eyes drifted down to the other cub he had all but assaulted a moment ago, head tilting slightly. " What a'you doing? "
Mio caro? What did that mean? When he let her go, she gasped silently and shook herself off. Man, did she not like being assaulted like this! That's not to say it has happened very often. Actually, this was the first time it had happened. But she didn't know if she wanted to do it again.
"What's that mean, mio caro? I've never heard it." Then she peeked out with him and saw the guards looking in the temple. Was the boy trying to get in there? "I was balancing. I want to be one of the best balancers in the pride. That way, I can walk in narrow places without fear of falling to my death!" She grinned at him for a moment and then eyed him. "What were you doing here? You'll get in trouble if you start wanting in, you know."
" I do not want in.. I was already inside, you see? I wanted out. So I got out. " He grinned, looking up to the girl curiously. " Mio caro.. It means.. hmm.. what a'the words.. Ah.. 'my dear'? Something like that, yes? " Sending her a playful smirk, he turned away to begin padding out futher into the sands, away from the temple and the aggitated guards to do a bit of exploring before anyone realized he was missing. Better to make the most of things now that he was temporarily free. With any luck he'd be able to slip back in before anyone knew he was gone... If not, then he was sure to be in for a lecture from his twin and his father... His mother.. No she wouldn't lecture. She'd just look on in disappointment.. That was actually kind of worse. He winced at the thought, before shaking it away. What's done is done!
My dear? OK, that was weird, but that's alright. Weird was OK. Some of her family was a bit weird, anyway. She nodded as she listened to him and then clicked her tongue. "You were in, hm? I was out. Now that you're out, we can play together! I'm Jamila. First born of my siblings!" She puffed her chest out rather proudly and then laughed. Why she was proud of being first born, she didn't know, but her father told her it was a special position. It meant she had all her siblings looking up to her. But she wasn't the oldest cub in her family. Oh, no. Grandma and grandpa had cubs recently, and Aunt Shani did, too. She wouldn't get into that detail with him.
"You look familiar, but I haven't seen you before." It was flippant, her reply. Honestly, Jamila didn't expect a reply from the other boy. He seemed.. quiet. In a trouble maker kind of way. She wasn't for breaking rules or getting into a ton of trouble; but she liked to press boundaries to see reactions of others, sometimes. "Let's do something fun. Do you like swimming? Or do you have something else in mind?"

" Ezio! " He introduced in return, stopping in his steps to peer back over his shoulder at the girl with a cocky grin. " Son of the great Altair. It's a pleasure, Jamila, meeting one as pretty as you. " He was a creature of pride, and he did nothing to hide it, oh no. He was perfectly happy with the way he was, despite the fact that quite a few others were not happy with him in the least.
White ears twitched forward at the mention of play and he turned to her curiously, mismatched eyes alight with mischief. " Hmm.. Yes. I could escort you for a swim. That does sound like a fun plan, caro mio. And I know just the place. Try to keep up! "
That was all the warning she got before he bolted out into the desert to head for a smaller, lesser used watering hole. Her really didn't want their fun ruined by some thirsty adult who just happened upon them.
---
Grinning when he finally agreed to go with her, Jamila got up and blinked, frowning when he took off. "That's cheating!" She called out, figuring they were racing. She tried to catch up with him, but he got there first, no doubt. Still, she didn't let that stop her. Jamila jumped right in the watering hole when they got there, laughing as she sat down in the shallow ends and sighed.
"This is SO much better than being sandy." Getting up, the now hyper active girl made her way into the deeper parts of the water and actually started swimming. It was more of a doggy paddle, but she was moving through the water at a good pace, so it was swimming to her! "Come on, Ezio! Or you scared of the water?"
