Soul drift is usually a rather quiet sort of buck. He's rarely with company, and is rarely ever wanting of it, but it's not as if he minds it. It's only that he travels so much, so often, and so far, that his contact with other kimeti always seems brief--- however friendly it might be at the time. Sometimes, though, it is nice to have someone to talk to-- to share the thoughts and ideas he has about the Swamp, and all the new things he discovers within and around it. But, like most days, there doesn't seem to be another kimeti in sight. Not that he minds this too terribly-- he's grown used to the solitary companionship of his two pets. Still, as he makes his way through part of a bog, the ground below his feet covered in muddy water up to his knees, he can't help but to think it might be nice...

"--but then a snake dropped from the trees and swam off with the fish before I could eat it and I was so mad that I stomped and scared off the rest of the fish!" A doe, black, blue, and white, is prancing through the water, chattering inanely to the trees, the sky, the water, the clouds...everything, it seems, except for another living creature. Perhaps Soul Drift should be more careful about what he wishes for.

As another voice makes it's way to Soul's ears, he pauses, tilting his head to find the direction of where it's coming from. There's no need for him to find the source of it, however, as a black and dark bright blue doe, comes into his line of sight through the thin mists of the bog. He blinks after a moment, as her chattering continues, even when no other kimeti, or other creature for that matter, emerges with her.
"Who in the Swamp are you talking to?" He asks, the bewilderment quite clear in his voice. Maybe she's a storyteller reciting her tales? Though it hadn't quite seemed like any sort of story... whatever it was she'd been talking about.

"And now I've come across another kimeti -- hi, other kimeti, what's your name?" She had no path in particular, just meandering back and forth, but she breaks away at a sharp angle to circle him with little mincing steps. She's just curious, that's all -- curious about what he looks like.
"I'm talking to the trees and sometimes the water and sometimes the clouds, although really the sun is the best listener even though he moves a lot." She breathes, the inhalation serving as punctuation as much as air. "They're all very steady and quiet and they usually listen pretty well and don't you talk to anyone?"

"Uh..." Soul falters at the sudden rush of words, blinking once more as he takes a step back-- as if the physical space could somehow slow the torrent-- but it doesn't. He's not quite sure that trees, water, cloud or sun could make much of a good talking partner, but then he's beginning to suspect that maybe this doe doesn't really need anyone else to reply-- as long as she's talking to something. The moment he's about to tell his name-- she goes off again, and he just stands there, kind of staring in something between confusion and amazement. "I'm Soul Drift," he finally announces after a moment of silence. "I sing with Spectre sometimes, and Pearlsong-- though Pearlsong doesn't ever sing." The crane stands there, elegant and quiet, it's head cocked curiously at the new doe. "What's your name?"

Blue Streak beams at him expectantly after she finishes, waiting for his name. "Soul Drift's a nice name and hi Spectre and hi Pearlsong," breath, "I'm Blue Streak and it's very nice to meet you and you're all so pretty and you even match!"
She prances in place, happy for no other reason than that she's happy. "What're you doing out here in the bogs? I come out here because it's nice and quiet and the bugs are really nice to listen to and it's fun to wash all the mud off afterwards."

Unexpectedly amused at the other doe, Soul can't help but to find himself in a better mood at all of her exuberant energy. It's not like he was in a bad mood earlier, exactly, but he had been craving some company and, he thinks, Blue Streak is certainly more than enough company to keep him busy already.
"Oh ah... thank you." He isn't quite used to such compliments, and isn't usually the type to really ever think about whether or not he looks nice, but it's a pleasant feeling to be complimented so unexpectedly. And then, of course, as he's about to say more she rushes off into another burst of energy. He laughs softly, and shakes his head some.
"I was just wandering. The bog seemed like a nice place to cut through as any other, and it is very quiet here." Or at least, it had been. Not that he minds the disturbance. "Don't you have anyone to keep you company? It must be rather very quiet when there aren't other kimeti around."

Blue Streak is probably more than enough company for a whole flock of songbirds. She could certainly match their chatter and only miss beats to breathe. "Well it's true because you're all so pale and faded only in a nice way not like when clouds choke the moon on nights when there aren't any stars out to be brave."
She nods, firmly. "There are a lot of bugs and they're kind of noisy but they don't mean any harm and they leave you alone if you keep moving which is why I'm always moving around out here." To prove her point, she bounces again, dislodging a small cloud of midges. Of course, her boundless energy probably has as much to do with her movement as keeping the flies away.
"I don't have any company because the trees and the sky and the clouds and the water listen to me and of course it's not quiet, I talk all the time!" She laughs, brightly, and prances in a circle around him again.

Soul Drift laughs softly, watching her move and prance around, and moves to shake some of the gnats and things that have settled on himself, too. A slight blush creeps over his face at her bold-faced compliment and he coughs a little, hoping to stifle the reaction. "Ahh..."
After a moment, he nods again, an amused smile at the corners of his mouth. "Well.. that's true. You do talk a lot, but I don't mind. I rarely have anyone to talk to because I travel so much."
"Why don't we walk as we talk? That way these bugs leave us alone." He moves off in the direction he'd been going before with her moving about next to him, and circling him. "You could always get a songbird.. They love to talk and sing. Or maybe a foxbun? I've heard they make great companions."

"You are," she huffs at him, teasing just a little to get more of that blush. "It's a nice fade and your familiars are all so pretty which is nice because once I saw this bright red buck with this bright purple swan and they really didn't match as well as he thought they did."
She laughs again, softening what might have been a nasty insult, and dances in place. "Of course you have people to talk to silly," breath, "Spectre and Pearlsong are right there!" She tosses her head playfully at them, and mimics the songbird's chirping.
"Sure we can! Where are you going? I'm not going anywhere in particular." Turning to follow, she trots next to him, swishing her tail to shoo off the flies.
At his suggestion, she actually stops. Stops moving, stops chattering -- even her tail freezes mid-flick. "...Huh. I never thought of that. You have a songbird, what're they like? Do they chirp all the time and fly with you and not fly off when you talk all the time? I mean I don't think you talk all the time but I do and I don't want to scare them off."

Chuckling softly at the mental image of that description, Soul Drift nods at her, "Well, yes.. I do sometimes talk to them, I suppose, but it's not quite the same as having a conversation with another kimeti. They do keep me good company though."
Blue Streak's sudden stillness makes the buck pause, though, and he turns to look at her before laughing again with some amusement. "Spectre likes singing with me... birds can be a bit more fickle though, I suppose. But they are really great company if you like singing. I'm not sure about foxbuns, since I've never had one... but I've heard they're really nice, sweet pets."

Soul Drift and his familiars, on the other hand, make a nice picture; they compliment without being too similar. "And when haze covers the fields--" Blue Streak blinks and shakes her head. "Well I guess I can kind of see what you mean but I don't usually talk a lot with other kimeti because they're always busy and they have to go." And Blue Streak, of course, takes that at face value.
"I don't usually sing I'm afraid because my singing voice is not really very pretty and I like talking better anyhow because I can put more into words than I can into song. I saw a family of foxbuns perched on a log like a couple of clouds bunched together and they looked really soft and sweet and maybe you're right and I should see if I can find one who'll go with me!"

"Well, I'm not really busy.. and I don't really have to be anywhere in particular. I guess I'm not really even headed anywhere in particular-- just forward, somewhere. Someplace I haven't quite been to yet, but still remember." He laughs softly, a soft, sweet chuckle and tilts his head at the other doe.
"Hmn, yes. Well, you do have a way with words, anyway. You certainly get out exactly what you mean to say."
Soul moves to look up at the canopy, a hazy mass of shifting green through the mist. "Well, maybe I can help you find one. I don't mind if you walk with me. This bog should be ending sometime soon-- I've been walking for hours already."

"That's the best way to go!" Blue Streak nods vigorously. "I met this gray doe who only wanted to go south and she didn't even look away to talk to me and she said she had to hurry on her way before I'd done more than tell her my name."
About to launch on another rant, she pauses, ear flicking back. "Well that's not quite true because I did tell her about how pretty her snake was and I asked her why there was a pink foxbun clinging to her ankle and then she tried to kick it but it was okay so I didn't ask any more."
The compliment makes her beam, though if she blushes, her blue cheeks cover it. "Oh I'd really like that! Some company might be nice, you're right, and maybe if I had a foxbun other kimeti wouldn't look at me funny and walk away. The bog ends in another mile or so I think I haven't really gone this way before."

Soul has the feeling he knows quite well why other Kimeti might be eager to rid themselves of the doe's company but, well, he really doesn't mind her chatter at all. Especially since it's been so long since he's had anyone to talk to, and her completely honest way of talking about things is refreshing and kind of cute.
"Hm, well, a mile isn't so bad. I think the water is already shallower." And indeed it is. Where it had been up to his knees and much harder to walk through before, it's not only a few inches or so more above his ankles.
"Maybe we'll be able to find a foxbun or two once we get to drier ground."
